Ow aren't they a nice blue and comes in different sizes..there I do, rather than wait for friends to give me their bottles I can go in search of Ty Nant although I can't drink water
best/Worse/What did I learn today?Chat with friends
But it is easier to get guests to have a nice cold water than have them finish off a bottle of wine....grin
Betty - here's what I found for the Canadian transportation of things in carry on bags:
http://www.catsa-acsta.gc.ca/Home.aspx?id=1&lang=en
don't think I have ever seen any of those bottles anywhere...and I have no idea where the blue one on my tree came from?? appeared out of no where ??
brown bottles are Irish cream, one of our favorites.
Betty,it was not there when you were here.
I have been looking for some sweet potato vine to put in my pot tower, have not seen any yet. and I may put a million bells into one of them if I see one at a decent price.
I just want it warm enough here to clean some windows.....really looking grubby.....
I have bunches of blue bottles....July I will be leading a hypertufa group here and I'm going to crush some to mix in the concrete....we have an area out in the front of our home that is enclosed to keep the deer & turkeys out so we can feed the birds.....I would like a blue theme such as my bird bathes, birdhouses, etc....love blue.....
Chuckling Deb, I came downstairs Sunday and was like "turn the lights off, its early" DH had cleaned the windows!!!
btw - Betty........ they can afford it. My Mom was going to be able to move to a Senior's residence and pay $1200 of the $1600 per month, with no problem. My sisters were going to pay the additional $400, because my Mom couldn't stretch That much lol
2 of my sisters are her executors and know how much my mom has in her bank account. However, she doesn't think of these things - she is 94 in May, after all........
Anyway it will, or it won't, happen. If it does, then Bonus. If not, then it doesn't.
btw - when I told her what I was doing lately, she asked if maybe she was getting a quilt?!?! I gave her one for her 80th birthday, and found out afterwards that she deemed it too nice to use, and 'sides - it isn't wide enough to go 5" down on each side. Guess I know what she would want for her birthday in May........ Not sure I could afford the material, unless I do a "scrappy" quilt..... THEN I have enough lol
yaaaaay for your DH!! How nice is that?!?!
Thunder - if you come to the Florabama swap... I'll bring you a Sweet Potato Vine (Marguerite)... I can't believe mine made it through the winter...
Susan - sounds like a nice trip! Too bad on the taxes though... I suppose they are gonna get their money.
Depsi - sounds pretty the chipped blue glass mixed in...
Yes Betty we know you all too well... got to keep those hands busy... can you hire a young adult to bring you ? or find someone going that way anyway...
Darlene has your trailer? I'm confused.
Dianne...please feel better soon! Oh Debbie - I have a roll of Duct tape I'll send you to bring MIL..... (HUGS)
Betty - I had a huge 'win' at work today... right before a meeting with Witchy and our other newer boss. I told hubs she tried to smile but it looked more like a growl... regardless... it made the meeting bearable at best... LOL.....maybe she'll leave me alone for a while...
(hugs)
Mary
oh....... almost forgot, I made her a quilt in 2010, for Christmas...... one she started 30 years ago, and didn't finish the top, so I finished the top, and quilted it.
She loved it, cuz it was material she had picked out, and obviously loved :-)
When she sent it to me 5 years ago, she sent her extra fabric, and I used it for the borders, etc.
Mary - it Would be a nice trip, if I could go, but I can't. Not right now, anyway........ actually, not in the foreseeable future, either.
amazing how much and how little $178 is........
Thanks Mary, but I will not be going. I had some that lasted 3 years, before they finally gave up to a very very cold winter....I am sure there will be some in the stores when it gets a bit warmer, and more into spring.
Morning all, it's that bewitching hour, I'm wide awake, thinking I might as well get up, haven't been productive of late so could do something until time for work..
Mary, is this new boss on same level as witchypoo? Don't you love it when you are in the company of someone who is faking a smile, face cracking as though it will break, she was out of her comfort zone for sure. As for the trailer, Darlene bought a place (park model with sun room) so will be spending winters in Florida.Guess our Judy and family will be in your area soon, will you be meeting up?
Deb, that is a lovely area, great idea about adding the glass. I taught a workshop about 3 years ago for birdbaths..constructed them by digging in the ground, we added seashells, allies and glass, quite large pieces..will go see if I kept a photo.
I have Joyce (Joycet from ohio) coming to do a workshop on hypertufa mushrooms in May, excited about having her visit just as much as learning mushroom process lol. Reminds me, must confirm dates today.
Thanks. Susan for the link, left my suitcase in Florida when I came home in January so only have to pack a craft. Really sad that your sisters couldn't help you with the taxes, at your moms age it would be nice to visit with her. I'm sure putting together a scrap quilt would be wonderful, mostly what they did in her era, she would so appreciate.
Debbie, lol, send Paul over please, not for the life of me can I clean windows without streaks..usually they look worse than when I start..maybe I should find someone who rakes leaves and does windows come spring. Hmmm. My thoughts and prayers go with you this morning Debbie, hope you are able to update on FIL and yourself...give that MIL a hug, shock the heck out of her. Big grin!
Thunder I love putting potato vine in my planters and tipsy turvy planter, such varieties now, colors are spectacular..not normally can we plant until late May, envy you being able to do so now..Walmart carries them right?
Morning Betty, sure hope you went back to sleep for a bit?
I had a sweet potato vine last year, I think it was called Marguerite or something like that, real pretty lime green. I don't know if it will come back this spring or not?
Sending prayers Deb for success. And for your FIL as well.
did sleep a bit more but not much, just decided not to go downstairs and work on a project, watched a movie and dozed off. Was snowing and blowing when I left, Riley was trying to get out which meant she'd be outside all day long so I snuck out, drats, left ipad and glasses on the coffee table. There is a LensCrafter in the mall so I'll go down at 10 and purchase a pair of readers, can always watch movies on my monitor..will do for today! Teach me to be sneaky.. as for the weather, cleared up a few miles from home, am sure it will all be melted by the time I go home..
Paul wants me to make him a stained glass lamp to match the one I gave him for his birthday about 5 years ago, lordy not even sure I can get the same glass so might leave early to go to the stained glass studio, if I can't then I'll suggest making a matching set in color of his choice and I'll take the one I gave him, am sure I can find a spot.
was in the grocery store downstairs this morning, didn't think they had readers but thought I'd check it out, passed water aisle and only water in glass bottles there is called Perrier and it's mid green bottles so will continue to be on the lookout for the blue.
drats, found the piece I wanted to show Deb and DG won't let it open..wonder how I can attach
Another blue bottle I have here is a really nice sweet sparkly wine, made by Bartenura, it is a Moscato wine. It is only about $12.00 a bottle.
http://www.bartenura.com/Bartenura-Moscato.html
There is also a Risata - Moscato D'Asti, a Bevlano - MOscato D' Asti, Post - Modscato...
Morning, packed and ready to go.
Betty, I hug that woman every time I see her...and kiss on the cheek. No lie, always on best behavior outwardly....inside my brain
is another story!!
Thank you all for the well wishes, will check in tonight from Hotel.
Hugs to all,
Debbie
You mean to be crafty LindaKay I'll have to take up drinking wine..let's see what occasion is coming up that I could buy a bottle? Nice looking bottles
Debbie, wow, you should have gained brownie points by now..what a good DIL you are, never ever did that to my MIL even in the good old days..will be watching for an update..safe travels
Drive safely Debbie!
Betty, buy a bottles for the girls when they come over to do their crafting or painting.
I buy a bottle of wine, maybe once a month. A bottle of Bailey's will last me several months unless I have company over, or am making fudge with it.
I think I have maybe 6 blue bottles saved, since last summer. Hubby promises to make me a stand, once I get enough bottles saved.
Sounds like you ladies are on a new crafting binge with blue bottles!!
I had a long conversation with my sister Alice, in Winnipeg, about my Mom........
After the fiasco last fall when they (3 sisters and 1 brother) took our Mom to a few Senior's Residences and my Mom was too frail to live there, and she's not ready for a Care Home, they've found what they call an Intermediate Personal Care Home - only one in Manitoba. http://www.thorcare.ca/
There are 65 rooms, so it's nice and cozy. The Administrator will hold a room for Mom, but they have to know by Monday. They haven't mentioned anything to Mom yet, because of the disappointment last fall, so (and here's the tricky part) they will have a meeting with the 4 siblings, and get the paperwork done, and if she's accepted, THEN they'll have one of them tell her. Not all at once, because she'd feel "ganged up on", and not sure which one would tell her. I SO wish I were there to talk to her too............
Anyway, we're keeping it among the siblings, and I've been asked not to even tell my daughter.
Once she's been accepted, then she would be able to move quite quickly - the bed sitting room would be having rent paid, so she may as well move in as soon as possible.
At first my brother (whom she lives with now) was saying it was mostly HIS decision, but my sister Ruth said "She's OUR mother, not just yours" and that shut him up! He was prepared not to like the place, but then he saw it on Monday and, according to the Administrator he's "totally turned around and is in favour of it". Especially when he heard they play Cribbage every day LOL
Oh Susan, let's hope it's not too overwhelming for her..smart thinking being one on one in explaining things to her. I'm sure once she adapts to her new home she will love it..know my grandmother did!
Can you just see LindaKay those gals who are up to no good most of the time having to down a bottle of wine lol
Thrilled with our new Pope, Pope Francis 1 names after Francis Exavier
Seems so down to earth..who knows, might even get me back to weekly mass!
Oh, glad to hear they chose a new Pope. I was out getting my hair cut. Guess I need to turn on the TV?
I found out who the new Pope was, just as we were sitting down to our United Church Women's meeting. It was an appropriate lead-in, don't you think? :-)
I SO want to be in Winnipeg now.......
Calling it a night..brrr blizzard going on out there, thought they said nice weather this week, warming trend..guess not
Here's hoping Debbie's FIL's surgery went well
Katie, if you are lurking please post even a 'hi' ..you've been in my thought today
Waving to all I've missed today..
Night/night
Hello To All ;
Yes Betty - Judy had left me a message and I've tried to call her back but I need to try again. Would be great to hug her neck... or as she calls it... armwraps !
LK those potato vines are pretty. DH acts like he hates mine... calls it Seymore... I'm sure yours will come back...
Betty the new boss I have not figured out as of yet...
Deb - watch your back when you hug her... she may have a knife in hand... LOL....
Susan sounds like a nice place for Mom.... I had an appt (advertising) with a huge retirement home and was very impressed (St. James place, Jean)
Jean - are you going to the St. Patricks parade this weekend ?
Hugs
Mary
Hi - I've been up and down. Not any more pain than usual (shoulder and knee) but something is going on as I have very little energy and I keep falling asleep during the day. I think Betty and I have the same bug again.
I have gotten eight tires washed and painted and ready to ready for them to go into the new garden. They are used both for gravel paths and plant beds. I have a lot of finished compost so we can get them filled and planted. Tony planted black summer squash in a couple that were ready and we have a bunch of little plants. With our weather warming up I can plant sweet corn.
Am still recovering from the scare about not owning the land. Now it's a waiting game. We lost a lot of terracing we've done over the years when we got the dirt from the dredging hauled in and dumped in the arroyo. Two big adjustments in a short time. As always, Tony stays calm and it reminds me to do the same. It has not helped my energy level though. I am now working on what we can do while waiting for the gov't to measure our land and say what we owe. Then we can go on building up and putting in plants and trees.. A lot of the work I thought we could do this year might have to wait until next year.
I just don't adjust quickly to change. But tony and the dogs help me to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Also, getting lots of compliments on the improvements in the new garden.
Sorry to have stayed away. It's been hard just to sort out the various stresses and to accept those that require patience. Not my strong suit.
However, I'm happy to have gotten the tires done. We have lots of work we can do. Tony is building a rack for my hanging plants and I'm planning where to put soaker hoses as soon it will be so hot we won't want to go into the front garden any more than is necessary.
Thinking of all of you as spring rolls in.
hugs, katie
A very short and quick hello.
Arrived in Ohio at 4:00ish, checked into the Hyatt Place and then headed to the hospital. FILs surgery was scheduled for
12:00 and with lots of delays didn't get in til 4:00!! Lasted til 6:30 and he just got movede to a room at 9:45 tonight.
DH and I said a quick hello, good night, behave & love you...and we got back to the hotel about 10:30.
Not allowed to eat in the morning, so will head off to the hospital for me to be there before 9:00. Will check back in the afternoon.
Waving to all, sweet dreams
Debbie
oh Debbie - you DO know that there are 2 different ways to behave? Well....... and BADLY - ain't a-gonna ask you wish way you're going to behave.
Hope your hospital time will be fruitful, Debbie......
Quick morning post,
Debbie good luck with your tests..
Glad Paul got to visit even for a bit..don't fathers like hearing 'behave' as though they could do anything but behave. Lol. They do enjoy thinking they could misbehave..so glad the surgery went well even with delays
Back in a bit
Good Morning
Good thoughts where they are needed and hugs to go with them.
Yes Mary, St James place is supposed to be quite good. We will be celebrating St Paddy's here with a few of our Irish ex-pat friends...they have been to the parade before and find it a bit confusing as St Paddy's is a religious holiday in Ireland...not quite the party we throw here....grin Just a small gather for dinner...making corned beef and cabbage and potatoes and Maire is baking soda bread...have the Guinness and pale ale chilling...
well here I is..lol made it to work with few minutes to spare. Had a great night sleep, I thought I'd relax for an hour or so before leaving for work but decided if I was to get ambitious I just might get the binding on the Morning Glory quilt so I can hand sew today. Usually when you are rushing all goes well, not this morning, everything went tick-a-tee-boo and I'm here sewing..all alone in the office so it will help pass the time of day!
Katie, can just imagine what is going through your mind re home/land, after all the work you and Tony have put into the place, to think it could be taken away must be beyond overwhelming..no wonder you aren't feeling the best. Bet those tires will be lovely once planted.
Sniffle/sniffle, cold not quite gone
sounds like a fun celebration Jean! Menu will be tasty..mouth watering already..
Was just talking to my girlfriend in Ireland, she's leaving in the morning for a dog show in Dublin and some good old celebration, told me to hop on a plane..sure wish I could lol
Good food, good music and good friends make any occasion a celebration around here. Grin A couple friends who hail originally from Glascow are also coming....we celebrate St Andrew's Day with them in November and also my friends of Italian descent will be here as we also celebrate St Joseph's Day (March 19) with them.....Luana has promised St Joseph's sweet treats for dessert....yum. We all seem to be leaning toward the quieter celebrations as we get older....grin
Oh, to go to Ireland, Betty! Wouldn't that be wonderful?
Jean - friends from Glasgow or living in US and just originally from Glasgow? So kewl! Are you Scottish?
I plan on taking some Irish baking on Sunday, for our fellowship after service.
Although I'm not Irish, I do have some shamrock earrings given to me a long time ago by a friend.......
I have a loaf of Cranberry bread in the Bread Maker but not happy about it. I put a loaf in last night so I could take it to Bible Study today, and the yeast was too old, so got a "Lump" today. This new loaf won't be done in time :-(
But, I wanted to make it anyway. I will be taking some bread to our "May Fare" bazaar & bake sale, and want to be sure that it's good....... Guess Bob is going to enjoy some homemade bread for the next while LOL
Hi Susan. Yes, originally from Glascow...been in the States for about 20 years. Same with the Irish friends. Yes, my Mom's grandfather on her Mom's side is from Scotland, family name Baker..his wife was half Scots, half Iroquois and my Mom's paternal great grandparents, family name Kerley came from southern Ireland.
It's not a wonder then Jean why you get together in celebrating St.Patrick and St. Andrews day..have you been back to visit?
No, visiting both Ireland and Scotland are on my "bucket list" maybe one day. With our DD living in Australia, we hardly feel comfortable going to Europe when we could spend time with the grands...
I keep losing everyone. Finally caught up on all the "happenings".
Funny I should read about the blue bottles. You can buy Budweiser Lite in blue bottles. I have a friend who is sending me some....see drinks the beer and I reap the rewards! Fair enough in my book. Humm, wonder if I make a fresh coconut pie it will help me persuade my son to make me an iron frame for them...worth a try. He tinkers with welding so it might give him a project to play with.
Jean, Ireland and Scotland are on my "bucket list" also....especially Ireland. My daughter keeps insisting Scotland comes first but then who knows what will happen. She spent the summer studying in the UK on year and when she could manage it, she was off the Scotland and Wales. Looks like she might be getting a scholarship to study in the Dominican Republic this summer. Mom will kitty sit.
Katie, I can only imagine your stress but do take care.
Betty, when do you fly to Ft. Myers? I have had a change of plans so will only be down for a couple of days at Easter.
Need to go rotate the laundry. Maybe I won't lose eveyone this time.
