Thought I would move us over...

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1300674/

Sure was feeling grubby, got up, had a bath, made a coffee and right back into bed. Feel cold is breaking but I will take it easy next few days and that should do it.

Sorry to hear about your neighbor Barb, might have been worse..thankfully stitches fixed it up. Must be a winter wonderland in your neck of the woods, with a bit of warming temps during the day we are having that wet muddy look, snow not so pretty. Am sure we will have yet another one or two storms before winter is put to bed.

Think you are wise to cancel your hair appointment. Good day to sew..oooh shouldn't have said that word as I'll be tempted to do so as well.

Bev, if you are lurking know I'm hoping your sister's visit is huts what you and she needs.

Debbie, how is Shannon today?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Thanks for the new room Betty, sure hope you get lots of rest this week end! If you know anyone that has a sauna or hot tub, a good soak in one will do you good!

Barb, glad to hear you and Norm went over to help your neighbor!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Update on your dad Lindakay??

Greg and Mel have one, might try to find energy to go over..not so sure I want to just incase I'd give it to them.

Greg was to drop off templates last night, told him not to come!

Opened all the windows and let the cold in, help get rid of stale air.

Jus organized myself into the living room, makes it easier to have lap top set up on coffee table vs bed, especially for typing. Lol. Sooo must be feeling better.

Been thinking of that sewing machine trade in, what to do, what to do?

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning,

Betty, she is still in bed sleeping. But she ate well yesterday, took a couple naps...and her meds, and went up to watch a movie (Vampires new one) at 8:30
and fell asleep. Slept all night and still sleeping. I looked in on her before I came down and she has herself covered in kitties sleeping.

Barb, you and Norm are such wonderful neighbors, he is blessed you were both there. Stay safe the storm doesn't look nice via the radar!

Linda, I think her son Greg has a hot tub...but don't know if it is worth her driving to go over there. Listen to us talking about her like she isn't here. LOL

Betty, you have been sick so long.....you need to call the doctor.

Waving to Susan, Marion and everyone......be back after I inhale some coffee.

Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I talked to Kathy last night, and the Dr.'s told her the removed toe area is looking better, so if they can keep it healing, they will not have to remove any more. So that is good news.
My son Andy called me yesterday, and told me that Dylan has another double ear infection, they are scheduled for surgery on April 3rd, to have tubes placed in his ears.
Always seems to be something going on!

Lyndonville, NY

Linda, my son had that done, but didn't get better til they removed his tonsils and adenoids. Hasn't had an ear infection since, and very
very few sore throats even. He was a bit older than little Dylan though...I believe 3 years. He only had 30% hearing until they did that his
ears were so bad.

Good news on your dad, praying he continues to progress in the right direction!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, you are too cute!! Great news, am sure resting will help Shannon's healing.

LindaKay that is good news about your dad, as for Dylan, Kyle had to have the tubes, helped tremendously.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I just spoke to Jaye, and she said that Judy phoned her last night too.......
Judy must have been on a phoning jag!!!

LK - that is wonderful news about your Dad.
Sorry to hear wee Dylan's having so many problems. I thought they only put tubes in for your hearing?!

Victoria Harbour, ON

She will be thrilled when Steve has time to set computer up, she is hoping this morning before he leaves for the cottage he can take a few hours to do so.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Had a wonderful short visit with Phyllis. Oh she has aged in 10 yrs but guess so have I. Hated to let her go. I just wouldn't say goodby just shut the door and cried. God granted a small wish and I thank him so much. Talk later friends. BEV

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear tou had a good visit Bev!
Saying good bye is never easy to do, hopefully you will have another visit with her.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ahhh Bev, bet your heart is breaking..look at all the memories you now have..perhaps next time you can visit her...where did you say she lives??

Yep, 10 years is a long time not to see each other..aging process sometimes is not kind!

Still in bed, an hour ago I was freezing, now it's like I'm on fire..another day or so and I'll have this beaten

Victoria Harbour, ON

Everybody must be busy today, so quiet here, almost eerie...

Greg just dropped in with templates, said he was on his way home, starting to come down with something, said Kyle left work today, has the same as I..wonder how many at the birthday party have come down with it?

Darlene just called to check up on me..she said her mom has taken a turn for the best..says she cannot believe how well she sounds.

OH Betty, hate that it is spreading through the family. I bet one of the food service workers contaminated everyone....don't think it was you.

Found out today Shannon's Vitamin B levels are in the bucket, will be getting weekly shots....along with Vitamin D very low, and will get supplements.
She doesn't eat well at all, just garbage...no tastebuds at all after her illnesses over the years, and won't even try new stuff.

Bev, so happy you had time with your sister! That is such a good feeling. I know when I finally got to see my brother Shoe....I didn't want to let
go of him at all. I hadn't seen him since I was a 2 year old toddler! So I know how you must feel. I hope you took some pictures.

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, perhaps this bout of severe illness will be a warning for her and she will make better choices with her food groups. In the meantime bet once she starts getting the shots you will see a big change. Is she feeling better today? Have you been able to rest and re-energize?

Now maybe at some point Shoe can come and visit with you and get to know your family..remember how special it was you spending time with him.

I'm trying to stay awake, kitties and laying by my side, won't be much longer and they will have pushed me off my side of the bed..lots I'd purring gong on.

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, she has been to nutritional specialist and has had much guidance but til she makes up her mind.....well, you know. Sort of like you not eating fish. No it is
good for you...but just can't handle it! She is eating broccoli now, that was a NO WAY two years ago., might eat eggs now and then if it is mixed with
something. Sure hope you are right, but not holding my breath.

Would love to have Shoe come visit, but will have to be the "off season" for sure as he is swamped already with seeding and planting for the season.
I may end up kidnapping him for that! lol

Body is saying to rest...you best do so!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wouldn't it be something Debbie to have a family reunion? When would off season be for him?

Resting but trying to keep awake or it will be a long night. The brightness on this screen is even too much light. neo citron time, let's hooe I don't drop it like I did last night and had to wash everything down

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear everyone is getting sick. Hope they are feeling better soon.

Debbie, how come it has been a long time since you saw your brother?

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All ;

Debbie I suppose you have tried smoothies? And Eggs are great with Salsa....

Betty some vitamins might be good for you as well. My friend who owns the Smoothie place says vitamin pills don't get absorbed but I still take them.

Bev you sound so good.... so happy. Makes me smile... My daylilies are some of the best looking plants in the yard right about now.

Judy - I tried calling you back at 5:05pm today and it rolled over to the fax machine !

Ear Tubes. Ya'll reminded me that Brock was supposed to have them and I never got them. $3,000 was too much for this ...at that time..... single mom. That's probably why he struggles in school and it's all my fault.

We are all cleaning house tomorrow for the shindig Sunday.

Hugs
Mary

Lyndonville, NY

Mary, salsa has tomatoes....a forbidden "fruit". She won't eat veggies...it is impossible! She is just now eating yogurt, will eat corn on the cob (not off) but no nutritional value in corn. HOWEVER, tonight I made cheddar/broccoli/potato soup....and she didn't know I shredded carrots in there, it blended with the cheese.
I sneak whatever I can in, whenever I can!

She has ate banana bread for years...not knowing it was half zucchini. If she did, she wouldn't even try it.

Linda Kay, we have different Moms....and we didn't live very close to each other. My step father wouldn't let me near any of my brothers.
By the time I was old enough to on my own, I didn't know where anyone was. The internet fixed that issue!

Exhausted and heading to bed!

Sweet dreams,
Debbie

Baton Rouge, LA

Good For you Debbie !

DS20 almost 21 is sick...and I'm trying to get him well for his party on Sunday..... I am doing a tea... with Honey and Lemon... I'm now trying a little steeped rosemary... have a sprinkle of cinnamon and Dad used to put whiskey but I have none so I added a little of Dianne's Brandy... maybe that will help..

Hugs
Mary

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh Mary how I wish you lived closer,my our brew sounds just what I need as well.
Poor thing, is it a cold or flu? Hope he will be on the mend for the party..

One can only stay in bed so long. I'm beyond rested., going to try staying up for bits of time and resting the other half.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Yesterday was so exhausting though because my sis Doris has put herself in the nursing home and is very unhappy which I knew was coming and told Phyllis that she had cut her wrists which I don't believe just for drama but got Phyllis all upset so have to call her Wed after I see Doris. She wants me to be down there three days a week like I was and I just can't. She is mad because they take all her money and I told her they would. She still wants to go to Walmart and Catholic Charities and spend money on things and has no room in her half of her room. OH! MY!
Going to be a rainy day but we need it. Hugs to all. BEV
Phyllis lives in Newton Kansas about a 10 hr drive.
Will be glad when things look Springy.

Morning everyone, Debbie, so glad you found your Brother.
Mary, sure hope everyone is better for the party.
Bev, sorry to hear about your Sister. Love your picures.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh my Bev, sounds so discouraging to get old..not sure what will become of us, some will enjoy the last of their days well taken care of while other NOT! Guess it is we who should be making plans and not leaving it to others...

As you say, when you only have one room where do you put the stuff..
Walmart should offer a service lol let the elderly shop, pay for it, take it back before the exit and refund their money..just give them the feeling of buying..now wouldn't that be something.

Was really foggy this morning, guess it's warming up, they said sunshine for today but it doesn't look too promising.

10 hours isn't too far and yet on the other side of the earth for some who cannot drive for that long. You are still driving right Bev?

Love the photo's, as always they are spectacular.

Decided as I just can't stay in bed any longer, you know me, few hours sleep is all I need, that as I spent 1 1/2 days there that today I'd compromise, play for 1 hour, rest for 1 hour and see how that goes.

Should call over to Greg's and see how they are doing.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Waving LindaKay, what are you up to today??

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Not doing much, we have a wedding to go to next week end, so will be going shopping for something for hubby and I to wear.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That is always a challenge. Watching a movie, keeping to my work/rest and it's a challenge. Lol

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

How is the work/rest thing going Betty? Are you sticking to it?
Norm and I spent the morning cleaning the house and trying to decide what we don't need or want here. He wants to do a major yard sale this spring and downsize the amount of stuff!!! I'm all for it too so we kind of made a short list of things that are to go. Now we will wait for the snow to go when the car can stay outside and we will clean out the garage and put sale things there. What doesn't sell will go to the local swap shop to be donated to whomever wants it. Lots of work ahead of us. One of those necessary things to do which should have been done before this!! Oh well, baby steps and deciding to do it is the first one.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Oh dear friends - I am so ashamed of myself!!! When cleaning out the bookshelf, I came across two books by Paul Fleischman that Dianne sent to me and I was supposed to pass on. They are "Seedfolks" and "Mind's Eye". This is the same author that wrote "Whirlygig". I thought I had sent them on but obviously I didn't. If anyone would like to read them, please let me know and I will get them out ASAP. I am soooo sorry about this. Please let me know. Thank you.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not working out too well Barb..kept to my plan until about 2' now major headache, chills and feeling like crap, that is saying it milily so it's back into bed, meds and blankets galore..Lordy this is hard to beat.

Now I thought Barb your only goal of the day was to sew, look at you and Norm spring cleaning! Amazing what we can accumulate with ought even trying.have you both decided to stay put where you are then or waiting until snow is gone before looking again for perfect place?

Love garage sales but then I should be downsizing as well..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Kitties aren't happy that I've decided I want to go to bed..drats I share when they want to join me in bed...

Bev - so sorry about Doris - you Did know what would happen, but obviously she didn't believe you, now she's living the truth of a care home......
What in the world is that 2nd picture???

Betty - what is that folded quilt at the end of the bed? Should be familiar, but it's not lol Your kitties sure do take over, don't they? Riley is now coming home all the time, cuz it's cold?

Barb - I would love to read Seedfolks. Really enjoyed Whirlygig by him........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was a red/black/white quilt block exchange a few years ago that I put into a bed runner.

As the days get warmer I'll see less and less of her..then come spring she will spend weekends at some cottager's home..think I might get her a name tag and my phone # on it so that those who keep her on weekends might call..I'd like tto know where she cottages.

Kyle dropped in, as I'm in bed he said he'd drop in later..he took 3 days off work for March Break. He is on co- op same place as he works part time so ends up being 6 days a week..I think it's too many hours for a 17 year old but maybe not.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Sounds like a plan, Betty - name tag her now, before she disappears lol I thought this disappearing was a relatively new thing this past year.

At 17 they're pretty resilient to long days/hours. It's also a good thing to add to a resume.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

She disappears Friday then comes home on Monday morning..know she visits a cottager because in July/August it's for a week at a time. Lol. Must be their holiday time.

Just put whiskey in my neo citron, was hoping it would knock me out but think all it did was wake me up.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Maybe try a Hot Toddy.....

2 ounces whiskey (or Rum)
1 tablespoon honey
4 ounces water (hot from the tap)
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 slice fresh lemon (optional)
Directions:

1 Place the whisky in a large microwave safe mug.
2 Add the honey.
3 Pour the hot water into the mug over the spoon you used for the honey to get off the last little drops.
4 Add the lemon juice and stir well.
5 Place the mug in the microwave for 1 minute or until it is piping hot, but not boiling.
6 Add the lemon slice and serve.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Have everything but lemon, might just try it

Verona, ON

Oh Betty you sure are having a time kicking this bug. You must be getting mighty ticked off at yourself right about now. I know I would. This being sick is interfering with your plans to have fun. (((Betty))) Maybe you need more than 1 hot toddy Betty.

Whew this last walk just wiped me out. Mary we will be lucky if we escape the night without leg cramps. Really worked up a sweat so won't be here long .... I need a shower. It is not that we went farther it is just the sun shone brilliantly all day so the snow is spongy. In some of the fireld when you step you sink up to your knees.Even Diesel was slowing down so Mary and I didn't have to feel badly about our pace. It was nice to get up into the 1 field near the fox den. Diesel and I haven't been up there for quite some time. The fields are quite pristene up there as other than birds and animals no one goes in there. Of course I didn't use my head and took the lane part of the walk first - should have left it till the end when our tails were dragging. Off to the shower - I cannot stand myself. Hope you enjoyed yourself Mary!

Don't forget - clocks ahead everyone!

BBL
Dianne

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - you need the lemon in the drink......
