I will send them to you Susan on Monday.....

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank you so much, Barb - you're a good friend :-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Kyle dropped in, offered to treat him for dinner but he said Noah had just texted him to say he has made hamburgers so passed, drats my tummy is hungry..think I offered so I'd get fed as well. Lol

Finally fell into a deep sleep, phone rings and it's Kyle, said he just got an e-mail saying he was accepted to GeorgianCollege in Setember..thrilling for him.

Dianne, you are ambitious to take such a long walk, you must of had the same sunshine we had here..you'll be out more and more as spring arrives..not too icy for the walks? Refreshing for sure, bet Diesel loves every minute of it.

Almost forgot about changing the clocks, will be nice driving home in complete daylight.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Congrats for Kyle getting accepted into college, you must be proud of him!
Hope you got something to eat?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty, glad you got a deep sleep! About time, m'thinks!
Time to order in dinner, Betty. I like that some places will take "debit at the door" :-)
Congrats on Kyle getting into the college of his choice! I'll bet he's "over the moon"!
We already come home in daylight, so guess we'll be going to work in daylight now? Actually, no..... usually leave at 5:45, so now it will be 6:45 (as per our current sky) and sunrise isn't until 7:15...... ah well, it will get lighter sooner, soon lol

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

Dianne - I really really needed that walk! Really needed to clear my mind... I've got so much to think about and it's overwhelming... and I'm beating myself up for working all day but not on what I had on my "list" to work on. Never mind the house and yard are clean for tomorrow.
Bet Diesel really enjoyed it... I really have to visit one day because just reading about our walks brings me peace.....

Barb! You made my day ! Finding those books... that really makes me feel so great... that they will be moved along... like that "Traveling Pants" movie.... "Seedfolks" makes me think of Judy....not only because of her moniker but also because she actually found a Community Garden and called and we talked about it... (HUGS)
Minds Eye... Susan you will enjoy that one as well I do believe....
Thanks for the hot toddy recipe... I do think it helped...DS feels better today. Betty thought about you today too.... I moved my "Canadian seedlings" up to the house suspecting a critter nudged them a bit... Funny how some pots have numerous sprouts and some have none... but I can't wait to see what arises from them... hope they make it....
Bev - (HUGS) for you...

Oh Debbie I would never have thought that tomatos would be on the "not" list... good for you for sneaking the good foods into stuff. We still call zucchini bread "Monkey Bread" for DSD20 .... our "no vegetable" gal. Neither of the girls will be here tomorrow for the crawfish boil. But with 16 folks we have plenty of people...

Hugs
Mary

Morning all, Mary, just checked your weather, says around 64 and clear, not the warmest of days but you should be able to have your boil outside. How is your son, On the mend?

Wouldn't that be something if some of the seed from my garden survives in your garden..don't overwork enjoy the day

Jean, have you been out planting?

Katie, you haven't been on of late, you ok?

Debbie how is Shannon this morning? Not planning on going to work tomorrow I hope.

How did your shopping day go yesterday?

Barb, how many boxes ended up in the garage or was everything you looked at seen as treasures

Waving to those I've missed
Managed to have a fairly good night, head still stuffed up and bit of a headache but far better than yesterday but then it's only 9am. Having a coffee and cereal and work my way downstairs to play a bit until my body says 'it's enough'

Can see changes outside, snow is melting, glad its doing it slowly so there will be no flooding..dull, no sunshine today..

Sure hope you have some in your neighborhood.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
We were woken up about 10:30 last night with a hail storm, the hail was about marble size, and lasted for about 30 minutes. As far as I can see, there is no damage anywhere.

Verona, ON

Morning everyone! Disappointed to see that the sun is not shining as brightly as it did yesterday.

Mary how is the weather for your party? Looking forward to seeing pics.Enjoy yourself now!!

Thunder is it late April your DS goes back home?

Betty did you tell us what college Kyle got accepted into? I can't remember.... which one is it? You all must be very proud of him as well you should be. How are you feelng now you have been up for awhile?

Really enjoyed those 2 books Susan. Thank you Mary for sharing them with us.

My friend's son who was injured so badly Dec 26 in an accident had his halo taken out/off on Friday. What an increedible feeling of freedom that gave him. He wants so badly to go home. He realizes he will not be able to pick up his 2 small DDs but has a good point - "they are big enough now they can climb up on my lap by themselves" Love his spirit and outlook! Nothing is keeping this kid down.

LK you had hail, I had gunshots at 3:30 am. I think I would prefer the hail. That was quite a lengthy downpour of hail. There is someone on the other side of Mosquito Creek that has been shooting off his rifle after midnight several times this last month. Have no idea why unless the coyotes are coming in too close. They are coming right up into the drive at the front of my house some nights. It is just scarey to be woken up by gunshots.

Need to change the wash over to the dryer. Enjoy your day everyone!
Dianne

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow, that must be scary to hear the un shots in the early morning like that. Does he have animals the coyote's are trying to get too?
Do you have a gun for your own safety. Do you have a game warden you can call? please be careful when you go out for your walks.
Glad to hear your friend is on the mend, sounds like he will be home soon?

Lyndonville, NY

Morning everyone!

I slept in, then realized it was the time change.

Shannon isn't feeling well at all. Big sister thinks she may have the same thing that Carrie does, it is called POTS.
I am worried her Dilated Cardiomyopathy is back. Going to call Strong tomorrow. She has school tomorrow, but
work only Tuesday and Wednesday this week. I don't worry about work as she works with DH....and those people
there have known Shannon since birth and take care of her very very well. They are honestly like her family. She
calls a couple "Aunt or Uncle".

DH made a breakfast casserole...so going to enjoy that and have coffee!

Dianne,t hat is wonderful news your DFs son is doing better, he has come a long way!

Debbie

Dianne it is trying to clear here, few rays of sunshine, maybe its working its way to your neighborhood. What great news about your friend..he definately has a strong will, let's hooe he doesn't try to move too quickly and get a set back.

Not hunting season yet, perhaps it is cayotes. Toronto news say that cayote problem is becoming a concern. Scary waking up n the middle of the night to gun sounds. Drawback living in the wilds (not really, just countryside)

As for how I'm feeling, bit better but back laying on the chesterfield. I actually took a chicken pot pie out of the freezer for supper tonight, would be first actual meal since Wednesday. Think I'm going to enjoy it.

Kyle will be going to Georgian College in Barrie, they've certainly done a job on it..going to be one of the major colleges in Ontario they say..what is great is its only 45 minutes away so he can travel and not need accommodations.

Debbie sure hope the tests tomorrow help put your mind at ease..what is POTS?

Wish I had a hubby who would cook me breakfast..lucky girl!

Amazing how when you put clocks forward by one hour you feel you've lost the entire morning..

Missy is sitting on the bench i made for the kitties so they can sit and watch the action on the street, she is now looking out at the squirrel who is enjoying birdseed in the feeder hung on front deck, she is so intent on following every move. Riley wanted out this morning, she is not a hunter so don't worry that I will find something at my door.

Verona, ON

LK as far as I know the guy only has 2 very barky dogs. All dogs bark but he leaves these 2 out on a chain 24/7 - of course being right on the lake the sounds are magnified and those poor dogs are on high alert all of the time. I feel sorry for them. I know I treat all of my dogs and cats as if they are people but that's the way I am. Of course I spoil them but I also expect them to behave. A couple of my neighbours have complained to the Township about the barking but there isn't much anyone can do as the dogs are well kept, well fed and current on their shots at the vet's. How is Luna doing?Yes I have a rifle, a shotgun and a pistol and know how to use them. Yes I do carry one of them when I walk Diesel after dark. Also after dark Diesel is walked on a leash so he doesn't wander off into the bush. He comes back when called 99.9% of the time but I just don't want to take that .1% chance.

Neat Bev!

My goodness Shannon is having a rough go of it again.Of course with her immune system being so comprised she is so at risk of catching absolutely everything that is going around and then some. Glad her job at Paul's work is not at risk with this illness. What about Target or is she not there anymore ? When is it you leave for Cleveland again? FIL's surgery is Mar.13, right??? Glad the insurance company got that matter all straightened out. Poor guy - he sure didn't need that extra stress.

All ready for the party Mary? What time is everyone coming?

Barb did you get hit with that storm last night or was it a non issue for you?

I'll have some of that casserole if Shannon will let me Debbie. For some reason I am starving this morning. I've already had cereal, crumpets and an orange.

Dianne

Glad to know you have guns if you need them Dianne.

Dianne, yes, the surgery is the 13th, and we also leave that morning for Cleveland. DH has to have a repair on the car and could only get it Wednesday
morning at 8:30. SO when that is done and he is home, we will head out. We leave Wednesday and will be home late Friday afternoon. Will tell you, if
Shannon isn't better soon, I will be canceling my appointment.....don't like leaving her home alone.

Dianne, you know me and I am glad you have one with you and dark when walking. Protect yourself and Diesel at all times. AND..I would do
the same in that situation.

Betty, you had the friendliest squirrels, loved watching those black beauties in your garden and playing along the street.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, so hoping she will be on the mend because you just can't cancel your appointment, I would say your testing is high priority, not that Shannon's isn't. Is there no person who could stay with her, know the girls cannot but how about Shane or a friend? That is an awful lot on your plate, your FIL , you and Shannon..not sure how you keep it all together, know I couldn't.

Can't agree about the gun but that is just me, never been around a gun, I'd be worried I'd do something at spurr of moment that might cost someone their life or mine.

Squirrel looks at me through the window as though to say 'if you've no more seed go buy some'

Bluebird looking on as though to say 'she put the seed out for me!'. Lol

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I haven't said anything...but Shane is gone. He didn't say good bye that he was leaving, snuck dufflebag out of house...he took off. He is in Colorado for two weeks now. He never even told me good bye, that he was going or anything, found out on his GFs facebook page. It is not a good situation and my heart is just broken. I just can't discuss it further right now and not up for any lectures regarding "sowing his oats, and will see the light some day".

Victoria Harbour, ON

Heart breaking for you Debbie, wiping a tear, no lectures just armwraps and prayers!!

Verona, ON

Diesel and I just got in from a walk. I have a bizarre image for you to picture in your minds. I was in the middle of a snow hay field making a snow angel and hovering over me were 10 skeeters. Yep its warming up!!! Iaughed right out loud when I saw the pesky critters.

So now in my pockets when I go for a walk in addition to a small flashlight, Swiss army knife, dog treats, kleenex, sunscreen I have to carry bug repellant. Must say this is the earliest in the year I have had to do that. Hope the ticks don't wake up too early!!
Dianne and Diesel

mulege, Mexico

I think I have The Bug. Weirdly hot and sleepy a lot. No more pain than usual. Forgot to pay the phone bill so I was off line for a couple of days.

tony finished a set of bookshelves for me and I've been doing some work in the new garden.

We are all fine, just low energy.

Surgery on Saul's grandson went well.

hugs, katie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Omg Dianne, laughing right along with you, soon you will have to pull a wagon just to carry your walk supplies. Mosquito's, who would have think it. Lol maybe you rolled over a log/rock and you disturbed them, now that is silly, am sure they don't hibernate..

Now see what you've done I have to go web searching to find out what happens to them in the winter.

Let's pray they will not be high in numbers this year..I'm not to bad but Greg and a few of the grandkids swell like crazy..guess it might mean staying in the screened in porch all summer..between black flies and skitters humans have quite a battle on their hands.

Bev, did you take a photo of you and your sister that you could share?

Katie, here is hoping you are resting and not unwell..know you like Debbie have had some curves thrown at you..

Supper time, must have used up all my veggies, wonder if I've time to take some from the freezer and cook before chicken pot pie cools.

Victoria Harbour, ON

We cross posted Katie..looks as though the same bug bit us so know how you've been feeling..must say head cold is breaking, thank goodness, work day tomorrow.

Prayers answered, wonderful that Saul's grandson is doing fine..will his stay in the hospital she long?

Bet you have those bookshelves filled already.. Keep well
Supper is waiting..won't be as yummy as Mary's but it will hopefully fill the tummy.

Dah, can tell where my brain is at the moment, chicken pot pie is filled with veggies..shaking my head

Dianne, I can just see you making snow angels, I have not done that in years. I thought you were going to say that Diesel was licking you or something! Kind of early for skeeters in your neck of the woods? We have already seen butterflies, and bee's here.
Debbie, sorry to hear about Shane leaving with no word. ((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))

Katie, sorry to hear your still feeling bad. Time for you to call the Dr. for a check up?

Verona, ON

Betty there were mosquitoes flitting around in the air. Not many but enough you would notice them.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Here ya go Betty http://insects.about.com/od/flies/f/wintermosquito.htm

Did you know that mosquitoes are a major problem on the Arctic Tundra? And the only place on Earth without mosquitoes is Antarctica?

http://www.athropolis.com/arctic-facts/fact-mosquito.htm

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Give them time - they will find a way to thrive there as well!!!!

Keeping you in my prayers Deb for some peace of mind. Lord I don't know how you do it either. But please try not to cancel your appointment if you possibly can keep it. It is so very important for you and well, you can't help Shannon if you don't take care of you.

Dianne, sounds like you are having a fun day up there. We got about 8-10" of snow on Friday, Temps in the fifties yesterday and today. The snow is really compacted a lot but it is still there. I so enjoy watching the squirrels digging in the snow to find peanuts that got buried. Rain coming Monday night.

Got to go plan some swap blocks... Hope today was wonderful for all.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jean, as always thank you for the link, who would have thunk it, skitter in the winter, never really thought about it, think I thought they hitched a ride in birds flying south..remember the tale that hummers in order to get south hitched a ride in the larger birds ie Canada geese?? Who but gullible me would believe that!

Very interesting, going back to read..

Dianne you brought childhood memories when you spoke of making angels in the snow..we'd let ourselves plop down, with arms widespread we'd try and see who could make the best pair of wings..we'd come home cold and wet. Lol

Those were the days when kids would get home from school, go skating, toboganing, playing till dark, not a care in the world..don't see kids outside much unless it's high cost activity, skiing/snowmobiling/hockey. Most not affordable by many..add dangers of abduction and it's in house for the children.

At some pont last night I watched a true story about an 8 year old abducted and found 5 months later, think it was near Chicago..she was playing with another little girl who went home to get her doll as the man/boy had asked her to..it was just recently after 40-50 years that they found the killer..interesting but what caught my attention is one of the people commenting on it said why would the parents have left her play alone on the corner even though it was lit...by golly, playing outside on our own was the norm, all the youngsters would be out from 6:00-8:00 in all seasons..remember often going hiking with friends, maybe 10 yrs of age up near the railway tracks, along the river oblivious as to what could have been

Wasn't that the perfect time to grow up?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

You are welcome Betty.

For the most part, kids born after 1980 , especially in urban areas, have no understanding of roaming the neighborhood like a traveling caravan of kids....bikes, skates, wagons all moving from adventure to adventure....all they know is lock the door behind you and stay inside....play video games and talk and text and get on FaceBook....or be part of an organized school spot team and then do all the video, talk stuff. Private parties instead of trick or treating...truly the end of the innocence we enjoyed.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sad situation though isn't it? No wonder social skills are all but non existent in many of today's youth..not through their fault..we've put the fear of the Lord in them.

Was thinking as I headed to bed tonight ' did I lock the door? Went and checked, everyone urging me to do so has frightened me somewhat with what could happen..must say door is left open all day long though.

Jean did you have nice weather today? Mary's party will soon be over and she will be exhausted.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

We had a few spitspot showers but it cleared up some around noon and the sun came out for a while....more rain is expected tonight....power of positive thinking...Mary may have had nice weather for the whole party.

You can not be concerned to the point of fear...one should always use common sense and take reasonable precautions and be aware of surroundings, but fear can be crippling and make you hyper cautious to the point of phobia.....not that that happens to most, but just having a nightly checklist can make you feel more secure and sleep better...then you will KNOW you locked the door...grin

Victoria Harbour, ON

I think I felt more secure when Sailor was with me..she would bark and stir if she heard a sound in the yard.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Perhaps it is time to consider a new companion Betty. Sailor has been gone a while and I think you are getting a bit lonely for that special form of companionship....just a thought.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty we grew up the same way, got gome from school, did out homework, had dinner, then went out and played till it was bedtime. Not anymore. At least once a week on the news, we hear that there was a daylight break in to someone's home, and most of the time it is an elderly couple that are home. Pretty sad they get beaten up, just for a few bottles of pills or a handful of cash! Last week, the burglars were not so lucky, as the home they broke into, the man was home, heard some noise and grabbed his gun. The cops had to call the morgue to haul the burglars away.

mulege, Mexico

I love a story with a happy ending. kb

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

((((((((((Debbie))))))))))) I hear ya, girl. My son ran off at age 9, to a drinking party. At 11pm I was standing under the 2nd story window calling for him to please come home.
A few years later he totally ran away, and we couldn't find him. Finally moved to Beverly Hills / Vancouver BC (not sure where he started, but ended up at Vancouver) in 1998, and I haven't seen him since. He was into drinking and drugs. Before that, I saw him in prison for a year, and fathering a baby at age 18.
He figures OUR family is dysfunctional which is why his "ex" doesn't want to even send him pictures of their son...... He plays the "Blame Game" and anyone that knows me (family and friends) know he's a con artist.
He's in his 30's now and "cut me off" his FB account when I tried to connect to him a year ago.
So believe me Debbie, when I say that I really know how sons can be hard on a parent.
I will pray for you and him.....

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All ;

Thank you all... Yes Jean was right.... had a hard shower right before the party... Hubs and DS running out to gather up chairs and cushions and put up tents. But by the time the crawfish were ready... we had sunshine! Would have never thought that... so we were blessed with the "Best Case Scenario" vs. the forecast.
Dianne your friend is the kind who really inspires when bad things happen.
Love the sight of you making snow angels ! I never thought mosquitos could show up in snow !
(HUGS) Deb re: Shane. That's all I'll say.
Katie - feel better soon. need to send you some energy... how are the doggies ?
Yes - today was nice. I was glad this was what DS and his GF wanted for their birthday. Side note not realizing this was a special day for me... my son is an adult. (Supposedly) LOL. I just hope we showed a huge welcome to GF's family... I think they felt that they fit in.... The Dad is known as quiet and strict...but he seemed to enjoy himself. we had MORE than enough to eat and the food was awesome as my BIL is a great cook ! Most of the kids went to the same High school and talked about all the old teachers and laughed & Joked....Wind gusts were upwards of 30 mph.... we went inside for the "Birthdays"...by 5pm I laid down for a nap and didn't know what happened to the day.

Belle seems sick.... she won't eat the pumpkin mash and broth I made her. DS, GF and his friends are in the hot tub.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Mary - sounds like you had a terrific time!! Great to reminisce with your high school buddies!!!!
Sorry to hear that Belle is sick.......

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Glad you had such a wonderful day Mary. And I'm sure GFs parents will remember the day with great happiness. It is fun watching our kids have fun!!!
Prayers and hugs Deb.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Glad it all went well Mary.

Happy Birthday Susan...hope it is a sunny happy day.
