Sorry to hear all that is ing on for you Debbie, sending prayers.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today??chat with friends
Debbie - I agree with Betty - no sense telling a mother not to worry....... Bless you for getting the rest you need for when you can see Shannon all snuggled at home, in bed.
Just spent 1/2 hour on phone with friend Doug - walking him through adding a person on Skype..... then him asking me if that person was now trying to video conference to him........ (I Don't Know!! I can't see his screen......)
hmmmm maybe I should download PCAnywhere on his and my computer, then I could take over his computer and do the stuff FOR him that he can't seem to "get". I told him some of his problem is that he keeps talking and doesn't listen to me when I'm trying to instruct him. He finds things in other windows that have Nothing to do with what he wants to do "Susan - what's this for?! Should I go press with my left mouse? It's come back to the same window..... do I do it all over again?" Arrrrrrrrrgh! ("No, turn your computer in to the recycling depot" is what I SHOULD say Rofl!!!) I know, I know.... he's 79 and getting confused, BUT the other problem he has is he doesn't see what's in the screen in front of him - he misses so much and when I ask him what he sees on it, he clicks into another window........ yikes!!
Be very much like I if you were helping me out Susan..Computers and I don't compute. Lol. Give him at least a b+ for even trying at his age. Does he live a distance fom you that you couldn't go over and how him one on one.
Just opened the bedroom window, maybe if it's cold and I'm covered with blankets I'll sleep.
Gab in the m
Betty - he only lives about 9 blocks from me, and as I said - he doesn't look at the entire page (it's a basic page with only a few places to look). The thing that frustrates me most is that he gets so confused that he continues to talk, and tonight I found myself telling him to "Shush!!" I felt so disrespectful, and I love him dearly - he's a very good friend. I was gritting my teeth (good thing we were on the phone!! He wouldn't have liked to have seen my anguished face!!) He's a smart man, but not with computers, and he knew I was getting frustrated, when I shut up and didn't say anything when he asked something. I was afraid I would snap at him, and that's not right either.... I took a deep breath and repeated myself until he listened. It took awhile.
Anyway - enough about that!!
I'm quilting the baby quilt for the little guy (Sean) born in Sept! LOL
taking awhile, eh?
Looking forward to seeing the finished piece!.
Morning,
Debbie, woke several times during the night thinking of you and Shannon. Here is hoping she's had a restful night and might get to come home today along with some answers.
Sending prayers to you Deb and for Shannon too. It is so hard when one of our own is ill.
Susan, I would like to see the finished quilt too.
Going to Joann's this week so will look for that yarn to make the scarves. This week is coupon crazy so check for them.
Sorry to hear of you losing trees Bev. Especially blue spruce. They are my favorite.
How is the quilting going on the morning glories Betty?
I'm working on finishing up my 10 totes for March. This will bring my total to 55 that I have made. I know the hospital appreciates them.
Sending a HI to Dianne, Thea, Judy, Mary, Jean and all others I know I must have missed. Hope today is a good one.
Barb, you must be able to do the totes in your sleep..you just have to know getting one is the highlight of the day for those children..God bless you.
Afraid to look at the coupons Barb, might mean another trip to Buffalo..Khols sent me info on 80% blockbuster sales as well..sure are tempting.
Wanted to finish the quilting but the couch called and I did nothing..this a.m. I cleaned the room up as the girls are coming..here is hoping I can finish it tonight so the binding can go on, would be something to fill my day at work hand sewing it.
Nothing planned for Saturday, who knows maybe Suzanne, Linda or Sharon or all 3 might want to make a day of it. Did you hear that with all USA government cutbacks that border staff will be minimized to just a few which will create havoc with our crossing..would have to think twice about crossing if that's the case.
Tried to find something simple to take to work with me but didn't come up with anything.
Garbage day today, best I get mine the the curb and head out.
I will post a pic when it's done - approx 2 days, I figure (at most).
Barb - 55 totes, and 10 of them in March already?! yikes - that's soooooo great for the kids :-)
Are you talking about making a scarf/scarves like the one my friend made me?
Betty - glad you took a relaxing day on the couch :-) You deserve it!
That was last night, at work today with nothing to do..looking a quilting tutorials and quilting books..even stopped off at the drug store to look at new quilting books but nothing that caught my eye worth buying.
Thanks so much! Fighting a headache this morning but need to get out of here and up to Hospital.
Shannon sent message doctor was in at 7:00. Cranial pressure on left side of brain still high. Eye specialist coming in today.
New meds on order for that pressure but not in yet (sent from outside pharmacy).
And now her blood pressure is very low. Was 60/90 yesterday (no I didn't reverse those numbers) and this morning she isn't allowed to get out of bed unless someone there.
Doc said needs another 24 hours on antibiotics then maybe can be sent home MAYBE tomorrow on oral meds. Fingers and toes crossed.!
Waving to all....and running out the door.
Debbie
No wonder you have a migraine Debbie, mind boggling at what that child has been through. Let's hope they get all under control and she gets to come home before the weekend but NOT before she'll well enough.
hugs Debbie ♥♥♥
Susan I guess you are quilting today.
I am trying to decide what to do for birdhouse swap, and will do some work on Malena's quilt....maybe some more blocks for my black and white and pink.
Hang in there Debbie, were all with you in spirit, and sending lots of prayers!
Sounds as though you will enjoy a day home doing your favorite thing..sewing. Are you almost finished Malena's quilt? I've got 2 of the birhouse blocks done, now going from batik to country fabric for a few others.
Morning everyone!
I talked with Judy last night for a bit, it is always a pleasure to hear her voice. She has a new computer, but is still trying to get all the programs loaded and running. She is busy with the kids. She said that Jake is going to state final's for his culinary skills.
Yes Thunder - quilting. About 1/4th done, and hope to have it finished in a couple of days.
Thank you again for the beeswax!
btw - I got 2 of $20 gift certs for a book store. Not sure if I want to buy books on quilting, or something for my e-reader......... hmmmmmm Already have a cover for it. Not sure what I would get for an e-reader - does it need a present? lol
Hooray for Jake! mmmmmmmm wanna taste what he makes..... making my mouth water!!
There you go, a wrestler/cook...can not only do the cooking for the restaurant but can act as bouncer as well!
Lindakay, I'm with you, once you gab with Judy for a bit you get off the telephone and are wound for sound..she's got such a way with her, so full of life!
What time was your sister going to the doctor for updates on your dad?
the top is done for one quilt, I have not done anything for reverse side, trying to decide how to go about what I think I want to do....
I am also making some baby burp cloths. and have a quilt started for some one expecting a boy.
spoke to my Sailor boy last night. He is doing good , enjoying his classes. smart alec has a 4.0 average !! big test today...so we will see what today does to the numbers!! He said he is comfortable in his knowledge of the materials.....
will probably skype with Malena this eve. ^_^
Good for your Sailor boy! What a smartie, eh? :-)
How wonderful Thunder, he's doing yo proud!! Is he enjoying the north country and the cold?
Blessing having skype, you get to be with family even though they are far away. Technology is wonderful in this case.
Long morning, think I'll skip out for 1/2 hr. and go to the fabric shop..need fabric for morning glory binding.
My Sister will visit sometime this afternoon when she gets out of work. Hopefully bu 7 or 8 I will hear something.
Thunder, congrats on the smarty sailor boy!
Praying it's good news LindaKay..are you playing out in the gardens today..
Staying inside today, only about 50 degree's, but really windy and cool!
How I wish I had '50' lol
best to be inside and not catch a chill!
Girls just called me, next Tuesday the are gathering for a fun day in Barrie, I'm to join them for lunch. I hadn't called them yet this morning so they called to make sure I was ok..sure am glad somebody keeps an eye on me.
See, we are not the only ones that worry, when you don't post or call!
I think my Iron is dead :( Betty how are you liking your new one?? thinking I may get one.
is yours a 1600 ? or 1800? $ 60.00 difference in price....wondering if it is worth the diff???

love it Thunder..the other day though because I was working with wonder under I thought I'd use my old one, ooops left it sitting down..see the burnt markings on my ironing matt
LOL! Betty you burn more things than anyone.
Sorry, gotta pick on someone! How is your finger doing today? Is it healing up?
2 second break from quilting........ would you believe I'm getting tired/bored of it?
Even though I'm using beeswax, the thread keeps breaking...... It's cotton thread, but am sure it's not hand quilting thread - just regular 100% cotton.
Read somewhere that polyester thread cuts the quilt fabric, so going to be extra careful I only use cotton thread........
lol, yep, that's me LindaKay..went to check on the template you sent out..same info as last week..perhaps they don't make notation till it's received seeing its an envelope.
Susan, are you meandering? you shouldn't be having trouble ..I've just done an oversized double and thread never broke once...how about your feed dogs, know the girls say walking foot but I use the darning foot and feed dogs down.
I think she is doing it by hand Betty?
omg I didn't realize that, thought the quilting was being done by machine especially when she said she needed it in a hurry.
went to Fabricland, should have brought samples of the morning glory quilt to match for border..saw a blue I think will work, if not then I will have blue for my stash.
sneezing like crazy, need a hot toddy
Let's go get Hot Toddy's Betty, my treat for your birthday that I missed!!!
How's Luna doing LK? Is she home from the vet's yet? I have over the years had all of my dogs spayed/neutered and never once have I see them slow them down once the anesthetic has worn off. Sending positive thoughts and prayers for your dad as well LK>
Huge yellow ball in the sky, thinking of calling the Alien Research Station.
Ohhhhh Crissy so good to see you.... I'll join you for that hot toddy.
Dianne
I want to say that I'm back again, this is insane! I work too much, two jobs is too much, anyone want to work and send me the checks? hahaha!!!
Debbie I am soooo sorry about Shannon!! I hope she gets to come home tomorrow, my goodness. What caused all of that?
LK I'm so sorry about your dad! Hope they can get that infection under control.
UUUHHHHHH I have forgotten all that I read, and I've read all of this thread. I should learn to stop trusting my memory!
Betty I'm hoping they'll change your name, that's ridiculous that you have to go through so much trouble with that, it shouldn't be that difficult.
Waving to everyone!!!
Dianne come on girl!! Let's go!! I need to figure out how to change my last initial on this thing, it is no longer an R as my divorce is FINALLY over!
OMG..how exciting is this..Crissy's back, sure did miss you girl..you have no idea how many times I've wondered how you are doing. Let's hope you will not have to work 2 jobs for much longer!
Dianne, nice to see you posting as well. Is Diesel keeping you out of mischief? You are looking for hot toddy as well, have you also been under the weather?
