Best/Worse/What did I learn today??chat with friends

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Whew Dianne - Diesel sure did give you your exercise today! I should probably go for a walk with an energetic dog - might boost my energy lol
Glad to hear you're getting out to your friend's for lunch........ geeze - hardly seems 10 months.....

Today I will do something nice for my DH - it's his 63rd birthday today!!!
He let me sleep in this morning, so figure he gave ME a pressie lol He's at work, and I'll pick him up as usual, afterwards, and trying to think what to do for him. He asked for pizza for dinner (so I wouldn't have to cook!!) His fav is Hawaiian, so that's what he gets....... will get him a card, of course, but still watching our pennies.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Would be nice to treat him to Hawaiian Susan, not quite sure what you would cook but it sounds yummy. Roger loved cooking Chinese when we had company, I didn't appreciate it as there wasn't a thing in the cupboards that wasn't dirty..he'd say 'well I cooked' give me the cooking any day, took tripple the time to clean up..reminds me, Suzanne asked for a few of his chinese recipe's, should get them out..who knows, could cook up a meal and invite the boys as a special treat

Verona, ON

Happy Birthday to Bob! you've got a keeper there Susan!!

Verona, ON

Oh yum Betty! Santa Warren loved Chinese food too. He made excellent egg rolls. I have no patience for them but he would calmly roll them. His would be perfect like a well swaddled baby and mine - well lets just say each egg roll looked like it had frizzy hair.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'm going to order the pizza in - we do have a favourite place to eat from - called "4th Street Pizza" lol how generic a name is that? but at least they're easy to find....... lol They deliver, and their price is reasonable. Bob doesn't want me to have to cook.
Hawaiian is ham & pineapple.
"well I cooked" is funny......... cooked, and made dishes for You to clean up lol

Yes, Dianne - he sure IS a keeper. Love him very much, and feel blessed to have him in my life. I will enjoy every day with him, because nothing lasts forever (no, I'm Not borrowing trouble, I just want to appreciate my Bob.......)

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

rofl - flizzy haired egg rolls!!!! rofl
(picturing them) lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Egg rolls sound really good!

Luna is home, she is pretty sore, but they gave me pain meds for her for a few days. She seems to be doing pretty good!
I talked to my Sister this morning, she went to talk to the Dr. but he had to go out on a call, so she will try again this afternoon, or call him on the phone.
Betty, I am watching the video for the periwinkle pattern, and it is a paper pieced block. Wonder if we could make a template for the outside pieces, as I don't like to waste fabric like that.
Did they include all the paper foundations you need in the kit?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubaCTtzKfR0

Victoria Harbour, ON

yes but any paper would do, paper isn't the problem.. if you use freezer paper it would work fine
cut 9 1/2 then cut in half and it gives you the foundation paper

Good morning, I cut my left finger yesterday while peeling potatoes; other wise am keeping to my agreement with Dianne.

Moods have been up and down along with my energy level. Nothing to compare to what Debbie and others are going through. Tony is a great help in keeping me from mood extremes - among other things.

Saw my friend Saul yesterday and he told his grandson - who is about eight - was having heart surgery in La Paz. He has had heart problems since birth' I hope this will help him.

Sorry to hear about your friend who lost her daughter and is estranged from the rest of the famIly. I have a similar situation but I'm lucky in that I know the kind of people they are and that helps when I want to wax nostalgic. Also, I have my niece and we really appreciate each other.

crissy, I'm so glad to see you posting. I've missed you.

Thank you all for your concerns for me. It means a lot, especially on days when it hard to get up and dressed.

hugs, katie

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Dianne, what a wonderful walk through the woods...I felt like I was walking with you. BTW, do go out today but always remember it is okay to be sad and remember. After 9 years I still have days like that and especially the month of September. Now most of the time I feel like my hubby is with me in what ever I am doing. Sending hugs.

Debbie, sending hugs and prayers for you and all of your family. I know this is draining on everyone.

Mary, we too, got into the mid-upper 70s yesterday but the no chance of rain was wasn't true. I was enjoying the day going to some of my favorite nurseries after my doctor's appointment and then suddenly .....rain! Bummer. Did find some wonderful new coral bells (new to me anyways) in the deepest burgundy. I purchased a couple and hopefully today they will go into the home area.

Well, I have been released to drive to see my mom. One condition...stopping every hour and walking around. Now this is already a 7+ hours trip this time of year...what will this add to the drive. Gonna have to plan this one our carefully as I-75 if full of spring breakers now.

Have a good safe day all, take care of yourselves.

mulege, Mexico

Forgot to say that our weather is warming up an that's nice. Also, lots of the citrus trees are starting to bloom, including my favorite tangerine so we should have lots of honey=tasting tangerines for next Christmas. kb

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Katie, sorry to hear about your cut finger, that must have hurt? So sorry to hear about the little boy that has to have heart surgery, such a young age. Will be sending prayers for him.
bet those fruit tree's in bloom, smell wonderful!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Great news Marion..know you've wanted to go see your mom for some time now. Does that mean it will not be necessary that you have an operation?

I got a chuckle when Darlene said she wanted to be home by Good Friday because unlikely we'd find a hotel to stay in due to all the snowbirds..maybe she wasn't that wrong. I thought most would be travelling mid March?

I have a few corabell plants, believe they are pink though..time to start thinking of redesigning some of my gardens so I don't plant where I shouldn't be.

Katie, prayers for the youngster..even though they say they've come a long way and children are resilient I'd still be worrying. Sorry to hear you've cut yourself..I'm starting to think you are an accident waiting to happen as grandma would say.

Took a quick run to the fabric shop LindaKay..owner said if I gave her $400 and my machine that I could have the 1600 quilting machine..got to think that one out. Sounds like what I should be doing as it has a long throat and the speed controller for the Grace frame would work

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, that sounds like a good deal!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

The traffic now is college students Betty. Yes, the "snowbirds" will start moving about mid April.

I am working on arranging a trip to see Mom for sure. Just have to plan a day that there is less traffic...if possible. Will be discussing this with my sister soon.

I have a bunch of coral bells that I sure hope come back after this past week of weather. The hard freeze for a couple of nights has really damaged some of my plants. I have seen dark burgundy ones before but the ones I bought yesterday are almost black and oh I do love them.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Marion, will have to be on the lookout for that color of corra bells. Most likely they will Marion, sometimes daintiest of flowers are covered by freak snowstorm and yet they do find through the season.

LindaKay, thought more about it..just got that plexi 24x24 table, was $129 or $139 and then the quilting foot $79. both of which would not be any good for the more industrial machine..

Might just have to save my pennies, watch when they are on sale and get another, an one ever have too many machines?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Will that plexi glass table, fit any of the other machines? If not take it back, tell them it was a gift, and it is the wrong size?

Victoria Harbour, ON

They know I ordered it because I was complaining just how long it was taking to get even after I had pre-paid..so that's a no go..will check it on my Janome and will also go into the fabric store tomorrow and see if it would fit on the husqvarna they are willing to trade me for..

Happy to report both Shannon and I are home.....and going to nap!

Total chaos this morning with discharge...but we are here and napping!

Thanks for all the support

Debbie

Hello y'all, I finally made it!

OMG Dianne, that poor lady! I'm so glad you all were there to help her out! I bet she was shaken up, my goodness!

Mary you were the person who changed your user name, I couldn't remember who it was! All I want to do is change the r to a w.

Oh my, Hawaiian Pizza and Egg Rolls, someone has my attention! LOL fuzzy egg rolls.

Katie so sorry you cut your finger, I have done that and bled all over the dinner I was preparing before I noticed, then it hurt lol go figure! I hope the surgery for Saul's grandson goes very well.

Marion so glad you can go see your mom now bug ugh on all the stopping! I would hate that with quick driving conditions! Yes talk to your sister and maybe things will go right and you can hold off until the spring breakers are outta there. I know you don't waaannnt to do that but it might be better in the long run.

Betty I crack up and all the projects, mainly because I still haven't done the Christmas projects from Christmas 2011 or Christmas 2012, I started a by hand embroidery project, and I have a jigsaw puzzle that I am addicted to.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Crissy, sorry I failed to mention how good it was to see you posting. LOL so you, too, belong to the long list of "Queens of unfinished projects" club! I wouldn't dare list all the unfinished items I have around here. Having said that, I will say each time I go see mom, I do take something I have already started in hopes of making progress. Seems to be working well until this dumb knee thing!!!

Debbie, glad you are both home and sending hugs and prayers everything continues to go well.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, Shannon will rest so much better being home and you'll be less stressed having her near you. I would assume she'll be off for awhile?

It's no wonder Crissy with all that has been going on that you haven't finished Christmas projects..just think, they might be antique when you get to them.

You are all making me hungry, as I didn't take my lunch, maybe a small piece of hawaiian pizza from pizzeria next door might help fill the tummy although with this cold it's doubtful I'd taste anything.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Thank goodness that Shannon is home, safe & sound, with the family around her. Everyone will be a little more relaxed.....

Crissy - I'm still working on a project from 30+ years ago......... lol

Before I pick Bob up from work, I have to go to the store and get him a Birthday card.... (blush)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Debbie, so glad to hear your home, sorry to hear about the check out process! Praying all is well with everyone.
Take a long nap, you all deserve it!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

ARGH there is ALWAYS total chaos with discharge for some reason, why is that? And why does it take 5 hours for them to release you after they say you're being released? I am so glad you are both home!

LOL Marion, yes I do belong to that club, along with a few other clubs! Yeah Betty, maybe they'll be worth thousands by then! See Marion, there's a reason for our delay!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Yeap, I so agree Crissy. That is our story and I do believe we will stick with it! :-)

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

Susan the colors in the quilt... so pretty. Happy bday Bob !
Betty wish I could cook chinese... we used to...it's been a long time... I do remember having to fold up the won tons and egg rolls... yes have started cleaning up the yard for Sunday's get together.
Dianne.. LOL I get off from work at 5pm and get home between 530 and 6pm depending on traffic. Thanks for reminding me to dress warm as I didn't even dress properly for our own weather today. Always wishful thinking it'll warm up more. (HUGS) realizing what today is. Diesel wanted to get your attention LOL....
Barb... send some of your birds this way ! LOL
Marion... I wish I knew what coral bells were. I have 2 daffodils blooming, we had a couple of early iris but the 27* the other day made sure the plants realize it was not spring yet.
Oh Katie you take care of that finger...
Crissy good to see you again...
Debbie (HUGS) DEEP Breaths! ....and repeat.....

Hugs
Mary

Morning,

Mary, went to check your Sunday forecast, hoping it will change. 77 cloudy/rain is not what you want or need at a major celebration..here is hoping.

Moving slowly, toothaches (don't even have teeth) headache so this cold is neuralgia based. Going in but might not stay all day. Not sure Suzanne will be in so feel I should, if it's too much I'll leave.

Listening to Breakfast Television and heard, Dianne/Susan you'd likely kow of him, Stomping' Tom passed away..didn't catch his age.

Morning everyone!
Betty, sounds like you have sinus pressure making your non teeth hurt?
You make have a sinus infection, please call the Dr.????????

Victoria Harbour, ON

phanthom pain they call it..lol

waiting to hear how your dad is doing and Shannon

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - think they said (heard it on the radio) that Stompin' Tom was 77. He was definitely in his 70's.

Laurel - thanks for comment re: baby quilt. I have about 7 more rows to quilt..... SID is easier.

6:53 am, and was taking my coat off, after giving Bob a ride to work on the other side of the city, through the 2nd busiest part of the City............ and it's snowing again. Not happy-making........
Hope they finish up there, and go to work downtown...... it's much clearer there. Plus, it's just starting to lighten up, so it was pitch dark when I was driving. I don't like driving in the dark when it's snowy/slippery and morning rush hour.

Lyndonville, NY

Morning,

Betty, I am with the crew...sounds like a sinus infection with it hurting there. You also need to get your kidney function levels checked so call the doctor...please.

Shannon is just getting up, but she slept through the night that I know of.

Hopefully a quiet day at home...not holding my breath on that. BUT I have high hopes!

Thinking of LindaKay's Dad.....and Marion's Mom.

Ya'll keep the snow, we are supposed to have a "warm" week end, they say upper 40's low 50's.

Going for coffee....
Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Know they say our snow is heading Dianne and Thea's way..just NOT what they want to hear I'm sure.
Paul just called, told me to leave at any time..now that I've driven in what to heck might as well stay..will till lunch

Spoke with Greg, told me he'd drop in for a quick visit tonight..told him to open the door, throw in what I asked him to make for me and visit some other time..he just laughed.

Glad to hear Shannon may have had a good night's sleep.. yep, Saturday is suppose to be a sunshine day.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

They have downgraded the amount of snow we are supposed to get. Now it is only 3-8 inches. It has been flurrying for a while but I wouldn't call it snowing. And then we are to get near 50* on Sat and Sun!!!! Going to be some flooding here if that happens. We still have 10-12" on the ground before any we get today. That would be a lot of melt.....I'm glad we live at the top of the hill-not the bottom!
Cleaning quilt room today I think. I was up during the night with leg cramps and the legs are still sore even now. I'm limping around like a drunken sailor on leave....but it will work out I'm sure.
Go home Betty!!! Get into your jammies and be comfortable and rest. Spend some time planning your next few projects rather than just jumping up and doing them-then you have things to look forward to doing. Meant to ask, how is the eagle coming along?

Lyndonville, NY

Bessie Lou, go home right now. I had a conversation on FB with Sharon....don't make me contact her! lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am still waiting to hear from my Sister, I don't know if she talked to the Dr.'s or not?
Barb, sure hope those cramps go away soon!
Debbie, what did they find out about Shannon?

Lyndonville, NY

Linda Kay, she has very enlarged tonsils/nodes in her throat. She is on antibiotics to get that down and see how they respond.
They are worried it is more of an abcess but right now can't do a biopsy they are so swollen. AND if that is needed we will go to Strong in
Rochester.

Also, the cranial pressure is high on the left side of the brain, behind her eye. She has something called Pseudo Tumor Cerebri, which is
like a "fake" brain tumor symptom. It causes these increases in pressure. SO, she is on a medication that they use for brain & eye pressure
issues to get this down.

They said if it doesn't work, we may have to consider putting a shunt in down the road...which I really do not want, and neither does Shannon
but if it helps...will do.

They sent her home as there is a wicked bug going through the hospital....and didn't want her to get it. The elderly were having a very hard time
and there were no beds available. SO, we happily gave up her bed for someone else!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Goodness, sure hope you can get all those things fixed soon!
Don't blame you about leaving the hospital, I heard about that super bug (CRE) on the news last night! Pretty bad bug going around.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Home, in bed, fireplace on high, meds near the bed, off to nap.

Made Suzanne promise to switch phones here which she did so best I sleep lightly

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Mary, I hope I did the link correctly. If not go to plant files under Guides and Information. Look for Heuchera and check it out. They are addictive.....at least to me they are.
