Hey Mary, how are tou doing? So glad to see you posting!
Cindy, sorry to hear your having a rough day, hope it gets better for you soon.
Sweet Interruptions # 255
I'm hanging in here and trying to check in once in a while. My niece is letting me get on her computer when I want so I'll be able to get on more often than trying to get to the library. All I have to do is walk next door for her computer. LOL
Great if Sue can make that trip with you to Sis Kathy's, Cookie.
It's understandable why your brother feels he's the sole keeper of your mum, Susan. Amazing how a simple game of cribbage can turn his opinion! Lol!! You and your family will have peace of mind knowing your mum's better off in a full care facility.
Good to see you Mary!
Now you have a good excuse to take some short walks. So glad you are able to use your niece's pc. You musn't cut yourself off from the internet world. It keeps most of us sane, especially when we can't garden!
Sorry Cindy, you're still battling the cruds. Hope you'd soon be able to start your walks with the dogs.
Spent only half an hour outside as I lost my balance. Lola was happy anyway, as she's not up to chasing cats, instead she waited by the truck.
She's right now back under the covers.
The weather's so beautiful.. sigh. Perhaps if I borrow my FIL's electric chair, I may be able to clean up the garden!! Just a thought!
LOL Jaye done with the crud, just a small cough. Worked outside yesterday, our temps are in the low 70's feels so good to get out of the house. Doug actually took the dogs walking today, he weedeated yesterday and now his back hurts not sure how far he can walk, hope he makes it back cuz I have no idea where they went and he didn't take his cell phone...................
Oh oh!! Do we need to send out a "Doug Alert"?
Hope he'd have the energy to return home.
It's not simply a case of "Cribbage did the trick" so much as it's "Mom would be happy with that!"
He knows Mom well, and if they have a dedicated "card room" she would be happy.
Got home from our United Church Women's meeting (UCW) and found a voicemail from an Employment Agency in Toronto - looking for someone for a job in Calgary. Called back, but of course they're gone for the day (2 hours ahead of us.....). So, hope I get a call tomorrow, before I go for Bible Study (10am - their Noon-time)
I went to an Disability Employment Assistance agency this am, and they've registered me, now to take it to her colleagues and see if I'm accepted...... will hear mid-next-week. If I am, then they will give me assistance with job search and they have Employers who register with them for "Job Matching".
Susan, wishing you lots of luck on the new job!
It's not an actuality yet, LK - I'm just sharing it cuz I want to tell someone about the stuff that's going on in my life............
Praying that it becomes an actuality.
Amen LK! With God, anything is possible! Susan, we haven't given up on hope!
Thank God we are praying sistahs here.
Did more stuffs. Sewed some more.
Got some tropicals out. Did check the weather for the rest of the month, they can tolerate 40s. No warnings for any future freeze.
Made Lola run a bit just now. You all can't imagine how happy I am to see her poop!! Lol!! She's been constipated for a couple of days now, and peanut butter did the trick!
Papa Kel got her favorite taco, so that's it for her evening meal.
Sue, if you're lurking, be strong sistah. We know the days ahead will be tough. Hug the twins tighter, they'd be needing you very much.
Turning the pc over to Kel. I'll be a nervous wreck tomorrow.
So goodnight my sistahs.
Sending prayers your way to Jaye for Lola's surgery tomorrow. post when you can when your back home.
I'm sending prayes also Jaye....Will be watching to see how everything goes...
Morning everyone!
Sending big ((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))) for you Jaye.
Hugs from me to you, too, dear Jaye!!
Please let us know how Lola is doing.....
Just checking in to see how Lola is doing?
Jaye - Hoping Lola is doing well and that you and Kel are as well.
Hi sistahs. Thank you so much for praying and sending Lola good vibes.
She's out of surgery and according to the tech, would be ready to return home tomorrow morning.
The vet said he's never encountered a hard cyst like it, so to be sure, he sent the tissue to the lab, and would know something by Monday.
I had told him that it's the spot where her whisker fell off, and normally sebaceous cysts are soft and yield. So... we'll pray that's what it is.. a rare hard cyst.
Sorry I didn't come on earlier. I sewed my behind off!!! Surprisingly just ripped one block!!
But Papa Kel has been on the phone with the tech this afternoon, checking in on Lola. He has never had a dog that he's that attached to.
We've always have her wherever we go, and it's TOO quiet in the truck today. I can communicate with Lola better than with him!!
Your good thoughts and concerns mean a lot to us.
Kel knew too that you all won't find it ridiculous how much we love our 'babies'.
He thank you too.
Good to hear Lola's coming back home tomorrow.
Here's a prayer that her cyst is a normal one.
Thanks Susan!
OK!! OK!!!! Can't hide the truth from my sistahs!!
I was worried sick about Lola after we dropped her off, all day today until the tech called :(
Didn't want to come on, as I'm not fun to be around when I'm that way.
But I did sew...
Ladies,
I need help, I posted this and so far have not heard anything. I don't know where else to post it.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1302257/
oh geeze - that's so familiar, but don't know the name. I do know that it grows on a cane-like stalk, and needs constant watering or leaves turn brown........
Hard to tell what it is Cindy, looks like maybe a lily, or a ginger plant? Maybe corn? Did you plant it? is it a bulb?
That looks more like a corn plant, Cindy.
If it's a lily, the leaves would all emerge from the bulb.
Maybe you'd find better answers on the Plant I.D. forum. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/plantid/all/
Morning sistahs. Lola's home! One of the techies isn't so happy with Lola. Told us that we need to 'socialize' her more, as Lola wouldn't let her approach her!
Imagine that? This pup travels with us, knows all the cats by name and we can't help it if that's her personality!!! She just doesn't care for strangers. Of all the 14 dogs that had come into my life, Lola's the only one like that.
Anyway, Papa got her a ham and cheese croissant and she gobbled that up.
I'll sleep better tonight for sure!
So glad to hear she is back home safe and sound! And eating too! Give her hugs please? It is a big sigh of relief, knowing she is home with you!
Thank you so much LK. She's right next to Papa in bed, but keeping a watchful eye. Poor girl could only squeak.
In my worries to get her home, I had left behind a whole pack of chicken breasts, already paid for, at the grocery store!! Oh well, at least they were on sale!
Kel wanted to return to the store. Told him that I rather lose $6 than wasting 4 gallons of gas!! Gas is at $3.46 here.
Jaye - it's $3.72 gallon here. ($1.10/litre). It's been jumping up and down lately, from $1.10 to $1.19 ($4.02/gal)
It's just really expensive lately, to live in Calgary.
I used to think that the price jumped over holidays (Summer, Christmas, long weekends...) but it doesn't seem to have any bearing on it. Guess the oil producing countries don't care when we have holidays, but thought the gas stations did their own kind of pricing lol
This country needs to promote less dependency on oil.
Of course, there are hybrid cars, but only a few can afford that.
This state once again, did the most unthinkable. It is beginning to levy a higher road tax for hybrid owners because they're not paying gas tax!!!Truth is Susan, we have enough oil and reserves that we don't have to buy from overseas. What we're doing is buying up those OPEC oil till they run dry...... then we'll use ours.
When the cost gets too high, watch how fast the govt. steps in to ease up on the reserves.
Your right Jaye, about the chicken!
Gas is $3.49 here. It has been slowly dropping since Christmas.
Susan, how did the bread and scones come out?
NOW OPEN, come and check it out!

The bread and scones turned out great! The scones were appreciated by the people in the Bible Study group. Some, that used to have them years ago, took some home lol
Bob & I love the Cranberry bread - I had some toasted for breakfast this am..... yummmmm
Glad to hear they were enjoyed by the group!
It's been some time since I made scones, Susan.
Bet that study group would be expecting more from you.
lol wanna hear something funny? MY DH Bob bakes some kinds of cookies and bars (always the same ones......he calls them his specialty) and cooks a drop-dead decadent Hawaiian Pork.
Because the ladies of the church know about his cookies and bars, one of them said she didn't think I baked......... when I brought 3 cakes last Sunday to celebrate all the March birthdays.
I had to laugh, because I used to fill the "Travelling basket" we had at Church. It's a basket that's filled with baking, etc, paid for as a fundraiser in our church, and the person who "buys" it fills it for the next week.
Because not a lot of people bake anymore, we decided to make it a "service" basket. One time I offered yard cleaning, someone else put crackers/cheese/wine in, and another person offered to come read to a shut in. People who thought it was a great idea didn't continue, because they couldn't think of a "service" to follow up on, and sometimes the basket wouldn't re-emerge for months on end.
Susan, the basket is short lived, maybe it's because you have a very small church?
At least Bob can bake cookies from scratch.
Kel can bake alright.. pizzas and garlic sticks!
hahahaha as in "Kel orders in"??? lol
Beautiful sign Sue!
Sending you lots of hugs!
Lord that year went by so fast!!! My prayers are always with you Sue. You have done an incredible job in keeping Jessica's memory alive and i"m so very proud of you. God Bless you..
God Bless you, Sue!
