Early morning prayers for Norm and Barb!
Sweet Interruptions # 247
Morning everyone! We have rain, it has been raining since about 11 last night.
Also sending prayers with Barb and Norm today!
Morning!
Can't sleep LK. It was around 5 when I finally managed to get some winks. Ahh.. at least I don't have a job to show up for!
If not, I would have lost it for sure.
Your grandma must be one special woman!! Good way to live out the rest of your life, with a vibrant young man!
No rain here, just cool then hot. I'm glad the electric bill has reduced this month!
Cindy, if she's happy.. that's the main thing.
Age difference doesn't really matter I've learnt. Ex was 15 years older and Kel's 11 years younger.
I told Kel that the advantage I have now, is someone for sure would be physically able to take care of me when I'm in my 90s!! Lol!!
Sending positive, healing vibes to Norm here too.
Sue, weekend is around the corner. Breathe, sistah!
Off to town.. catch my sistahs later.
busy morning here, michaels coming home, took the kids and dropped them off at groomers, got jacks head unstuck from the fence, fed all the animals, doing laundry and cleaning house. oh yeah, and paying the wolves!
bbl
Jack was stuck in the fence? Poor thing! Glad you got him unstuck!
he gets stuck everyday, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. i have to cut tree limbs for him just to keep his head out of the fence
Well I was wrong about his age, lol he is in his 50's, she met him when she went to her sister's high school reunion. He is a drummer in a band, she kid napped him that night, lol................wore him out........................LMAO!!!!!!
Have your hankies ready.........................
Daddy's Poem
Her hair was up in a pony tail,
Her favorite dress tied with a bow.
Today was Daddy's Day at school,
And she couldn't wait to go.
But her mommy tried to tell her,
That she probably should stay home;
Why the kids might not understand,
If she went to school alone.
But she was not afraid;
She knew just what to say.
What to tell her classmates
Of why he wasn't there today.
But still her mother worried,
For her to face this day alone.
And that was why, once again,
She tried to keep her daughter home.
But the little girl went to school ,
Eager to tell them all.
About a dad she never sees, a dad
Who never calls.
There were daddies along the wall in
Back, for everyone to meet.
Children squirming impatiently,
Anxious in their seat.
One by one the teacher called
On a student from the class.
To introduce their daddy,
As seconds slowly passed.
At last the teacher called her name,
Every child turned to stare.
Each of them was searching,
A man who wasn't there.
"Where's her daddy at?"
She heard a boy call out.
"She probably doesn't have one,"
Another student dared to shout.
And from somewhere near the back,
She heard a daddy say,
"Looks like another deadbeat dad,
Too busy to waste his day."
The words did not offend her,
As she smiled up at her Mom.
And looked back at her teacher, who
Told her to go on..
And with hands behind her back,
Slowly she began to speak.
And out from the mouth of a child,
Came words incredibly unique.
"My Daddy couldn't be here,
Because he lives so far away.
But I know he wishes he could be,
Since this is such a special day.
And though you cannot meet him,
I wanted you to know
All about my daddy,
And how much he loves me so.
He loved to tell me stories,
He taught me to ride my bike;
He surprised me with pink roses,
And taught me to fly a kite.
We used to share fudge sundaes,
And ice cream in a cone.
And though you cannot see him.
I'm not standing here alone.
'Cause my daddy's always with me,
Even though we are apart;
I know because he told me,
He'll forever be in my heart"
With that, her little hand reached up,
And lay across her chest.
Feeling her own heartbeat,
Beneath her favorite dress.
And from somewhere there in the crowd of dads,
Her mother stood in tears.
Proudly watching her daughter,
Who was wise beyond her years.
For she stood up for the love
Of a man not in her life.
Doing what was best for her,
Doing what was a right.
And when she dropped her hand back
Down, staring straight into the crowd.
She finished with a voice so soft,
But its message clear and loud.
"I love my daddy very much,
he's my shining star.
And if he could, he'd be here,
But heaven's just too far.
You see he is an American Soldier
And he died just this past year,,
When a roadside bomb hit his convoy
And taught Americans to fear.
But sometimes when I close my eyes,
it's like he never went away."
And then she closed her eyes,
And saw him there that day.
And to her mother's amazement,
She witnessed with surprise,
A room full of daddies and children,
All starting to close their eyes.
Who knows what they saw before them;
Who knows what they felt inside.
Perhaps for merely a second,
They saw him at her side.
"I know you're with me Daddy,"
to the silence she called out.
And what happened next made believers,
of those once filled with doubt.
Not one in that room could explain it,
for each of their eyes had been closed.
But there on the desk beside her,
was a fragrant long-stemmed pink rose.
And a child was blessed, if only for
a moment, by the love of her shining star.
And given the gift of believing,
that heaven is never too far.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.
Send this to the people you'll never forget. It's a short message to let them know that you'll never forget them.
Take the time....to live and love.
Until eternity
God Bless
There must be many children in the same boat as this little girl, thanks to our servicemen and their families for the sacrifice they are making to keep our country free.
The ULTIMATE sacrifice is being left behind. Don't forget them.
PRAY FOR OUR TROOPS!!!
Cindy - every time I see this, it brings a tear to my eyes............
I have seen this before too. Such a heart warming poem.
I do think that has been around in e-mails and it is such a special poem. Thank you Cindy for posting it.
We are going back into the HOT summer mode. Really high temps. all over, even in the triple digits. Not a happy thought, but we did have a couple of "cooler" days so I could go out and check on all the work that has to be done in the yard. My neighbor was cleaning out by her back fence and asked if I wanted some more plants. I don't need more, but for some reason just can't say no. Now, lets see if I'm getting my green thumb back.
Yes it's hot again ugh going to Vacaville where it will be even hotter to visit my brother. Our triples are to hit Mon & Tues
Morning everyone! Sorry to hear you girls on the west coast are haing high temps. It has been raining, and maybe 80 here.
Library had a book sale today, you wouldn't believe how crowded the room was. Now, I don't need more books, but just can't help myself. I picked up some audio books for a friend, 2 of them were on CD's so maybe I'll listen to them before passing them on. Price was 3 for $1, hard covers 2-$1 and paper backs 3-$1. So many of Debbie Macomber's books, but all of them I have read. Now if I could find someone who wants to clean my house, cook our meals and do the laundry I would have plenty of time to read.
Let me know if you find someone to clean houses!
I need a "wife" - someone to cook, clean, do the household accounting, run errands, taxi me around when I need/want...............
there was a beat down in T-Town last nite, as THE TIDE ROLLED over ole miss.
ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GO NOLES!!

Mornin' everyone.
Hope you managed to find a place that was dry Kathy. Dumb me, didn't know what a "nole" was......must have been thinking "mole" instead. :-)
Oh Betty, have oodles of fun cooking the pumpkin. We thought about getting our pie pumpkins this weekend but then we would make pies, son would smell them and it would be to do all over again. LOL Our pie pumpkins are just starting to appear in the stores so I am sure we have time.
Looks like it will be a wet day today so inside chores for me.
What did I miss?? What did I miss???
Okay good, nothing serious happen to any of my sistahs since I've been MIA.
Thank you God.
Hey Marion, how did your Noles do? I didn't follow your team this weekend, got exasperated with LSU's performance against a cupcake team and to make matters worse, Saints is now 0-4.
Yah yah, Saban was wise to show that Tebow speech before the game. Never take Ole Miss for granted!
Next game Kathy?
Stay dry sis!
Thank you Cindy. Awesome poem. I don't check emails so this is the first time I read it. Prayers for our troops indeed.
Pegi, our library offer steamy romances and years old periodicals on book sale days.
Saturday, I almost bought a new book from Barnes and Nobles, but the sticker price of $24 turned me away. Well. that evening I checked on eBay, and there was one offered for $9 with FREE SHIPPING!!!
To place a want list with my local library for the odd books I like to read, is like asking the city council to increase the budget by another thousand!!
Pumpkin bread, Betty please!!! I love those old fashion pumpkin bread!!
But a slice of pumpkin pie with ice cream on the side.. to die for!
LK, thank God you got your roof fixed with the rain you're getting!
Barb, how's Norm?
Ever been so busy, that you don't remember all you did? Is this the foreboding warning of early Alzheimer?
Yep, was busy on the road, off the road, and at home. Don't want to bore you all.
All is well though.
NEED A PIRUGH
Betty, don't forget the pumkin cookies too!
we just had pumpkin pie, made from a pumpkin from Massachusetts.....ohhh it was ever so tasty......just don't seem to get them that good from around here.
some body got a good recipe for pumpkin cookies???
Make your own pirogue with those tree limbs, Sis!! Lol!!!
Pumpkin cookies with cream cheese!
Pumpkin cookies sandwich with cream cheese filling.
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Dash nutmeg
4 ounces butter, softened
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup whole milk
3/4 cup canned pumpkin
.
Filling:
6 tablespoons butter, softened
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar
Preparation:
Line baking sheet with a silicone mat or buttered parchment paper. Heat oven to 350°.
In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
In a large mixing bowl with electric mixer, beat 4 ounces butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1 cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs and vanilla until well blended. Slowly beat in the milk and pumpkin, then add dry ingredients, beating just until blended.
With a tablespoon or cookie scoop, drop onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes, or until bottoms are lightly browned and tops are firm. Cool for about 5 minutes on the baking sheet then loosen the bottoms with a spatula and let them cool completely.
Combine the filling ingredients in a bowl with an electric mixer. Beat well until the filling is smooth. Frost the bottom of a cookie, then press the bottom of another cookie on the filling to make a sandwich. Repeat with remaining cookies. Makes about 18 to 20 filled cookies.

both sound delish!!! thanks
I want to try both- No raisins for Norm- with raisins for me!!!!
You got my address, Barb if Norm won't mind sharing with me!! Lolol!!
Will the ark do Kathy? Oh, wait! I don't know where it is now.
The recipes look so good, I might just have to try some of them. Humm, thinking I can convert so Kim can enjoy them also.
Thunder, you can't possibly be enjoying that computer any more than we are. Seeing you on line is just about the bestest!
Jaye, the 'Noles won against USF in Tampa.
Barb, how is Norm doing....any yourself. In my thoughts constantly.
Good for the Noles! Maybe there will be a repeat on ESPNu. Wish we got Manuel.
LSU has no O-Line. Our QB's weakness is all out. He can't run and throw at the same time. We lost 3 quality players on Offense due to injuries. No doubt our defense is deep and we lost the Honeybadger, but our freshmen lack discipline and incurred idiotic penalties!! Well it was a very ugly win, Maid M.
Next week we're playing against UF. That will be a tough game for sure.
Agreeing with you. Seeing Thunder online is surely a reassuring sight!
