You're still here in our hearts ,Faye .
Prayers still coming , Debra

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Faye, so glad to hear Ray is doing better!

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

So good to hear. You are all in my heart and prayers.

Temps have stayed a bit cool the past few days. I want to get my Christmas lights up.. why did I wait for it to get cold??? I always do!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Tammie I think your teeth need to chatter or the Christmas lights just don't go up correctly....rofl.

I have been terrible sick with the flu but am finally on the down hill end of it. Thanks goodness. Tomorrow is going to be crazy because I have not done any decorating yet, no baking, and very little wrapping. Thank goodness for black Friday because I believe I am done shopping except for a few tiny things. Course I am never ready until that day....rofl. I can finally get excited.....

I know I am older because I decided to get my baby niece a car seat.....well what a shocker that was....I had no idea the expense of those things. She is getting the most expensive present in the whole family but she is worth it. I don't know how people do it if they have several kids....my Mom when I was growing up could of never afforded one for us girls, course she didn't have a car so I guess it wouldn't have been a problem.

Best wishes thoughts and prayers to everyone suffering. Now the horrible things that happened at that grade school....so sad.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

How old is your niece, if they are a certain age, or size, they must be in a rear facing seat, above that weight/age, they have to be in a forward facing seat. pretty sad they are so pricey for the short time they have to use them. I agree, they are expensive, but they sure do make those little ones safe!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I read and read and read about these seats, I have taken college courses that took less time, than these car seats....rofl.
They say they should stay in rear facing as long as possible because they are so much better if they are in an accident. But her legs are so long now, there is no room for her to put them between the car seat and the "car" seat.... Least she will have a big box to play with...rofl...they like those the best anyway. Don't know how we all survived childhood, considering playgrounds were concrete or asphalt, no car seats or seat belts, no helmets for bikes, or skates, kind of funny when you think about it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I agree, we had non of these safety features when we grew up, and were just fine! Check with your local police dept, or pediatrics Dr. to find out your local or state requirements.
I found this...

http://www.dmv.org/ks-kansas/safety-laws.php

Child restraint laws in Kansas have four key components:

Children must ride in a rear-facing child safety seat until they are at least one year old and 20 pounds.
Children between the ages of one and three must ride in forward-facing child safety seat.
Children between the ages of four and seven must ride in a booster seat unless they weigh more than 80 pounds, are taller than 4 feet 9 inches, or are traveling in a vehicle where only a lap belt is available.
Children between the ages of eight and 13 must be wearing a seatbelt whenever the vehicle is in motion.
If you're in the market for one, you can shop online for a child car seat at any time. When ordering, be sure the car seat matches your child's height, weight and age.

If you need help making sure your child safety seat or booster seat is correctly installed, visit one of the many free fitting stations located throughout the state. If you can't afford a child safety seat or booster seat, the fitting stations also have information on programs available to assist low-income families in obtaining this important piece of safety equipment.

In addition to being aware of child restraint laws, parents should also remember that Kansas law also forbids children under age 14 from riding in any part of a vehicle not intended for passengers, such as the bed of a pickup truck.

We got rain.....something g we haven't had in forever. I have even been watering the new trees this winter it has been so bad.

Thanks for the info on the laws with the car seats.

Well off to decorate wrap bake and clean house....later

Morning everyone! Hope you all had a good Christmas! Christmas was good here, my youngest son was here with the family, and we had a great time. Dylan is 9 months old now, and it was so much fun watching him with his first Christmas. He had so much fun with our new German shepherd.
Debra, how is your Sister doing? We have been praying for her.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

love the Dylan and puppy pic, Linda. So glad you had a good time with them this year.
Cold and windy here with no rain or snow. Sister is hanging in there, I was going down this weekend, but we decided I am going to go down to go with her to the DR for final test results after this last round of chemos. She says if it isn't working to shrink the cancer, then she will have to stop the chemo.
I want to be there when he tells her what ever it is going to be, since last time he told her rsults she called me hysterical at work and I got hysterical from feeling helpless and had to leave work. What ever happens will be for a reason, she has decided. She isn't going down without a fight, I garrantee that.
So far she has had 5 rounds of chemos, 6 to eight at a time in a year and a half. That is too much poison.

F.L.A.G. Fight like a girl! She can do this, she is strong willed and determined. And with behind her with support, she can pull through this!
Were all praying for her!

Looks what's blooming in the spare bedroom. I brought in my plants a few weeks ago, most of them I cut down, but a few had tiny buds so I left them.
The one in front opened dark pink and stayed that way, the one in back opened yellow, then turned pink.
