Best/Worse/what did I learn today? Betty's adventures!

Victoria Harbour, ON

rain rain go away, Barb's team needs to play!!

Joyce don't you fret, family always comes first..sorry Bertie can't make the hosta meeting..is it being held nearby? Meant to tell you, worse Tiimy coffee, one which we both threw away, first time ever was in your neck of the wood..might have been a bad pot..also Suzanne and I gave a tip, saw the young lady put it in the till, Suzanne said 'it's for you' young lady said they were not allowed tips and it had to be put into general funds..out of principle we said we wanted $$ back then told her we would put it in children's camp box in her name..odd int it?

Wonder if Katie showed Steve (?) how to post on her behalf..guess with time difference, it's early.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I doubt they are eatable Betty. Just don't know that much about mushrooms ..they sure are colorful!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Marion, make sure they are not the psychedelic kind of shrooms!

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

Those come from cow patties don't they?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Debbie - yaaaaaaaay that your DD got a job!
I wonder how Katie's surgery went.... prayers for her.

Well, got some more thunderstorms today, while I was at work. Close on to being a tornado, the weather network said....
We had quite a dust storm - looking out from the 8th floor, we couldn't see the parking lot for the dust! and the windows were shaking! Then we got rain, and tiny hail. Glad it wasn't worse, but I think there must have been a car accident in the worst of the dust-up cuz an ambulance went by shortly afterwards.
Anyway, again no damage at home.
However.......... came home to having the water shut off at home. It was planned, and to be for 4 days at least. Not happy about it, but what do you do?!?! There's a leak somewhere in our neighbourhood, and the City can't find it, so they're excavating.....

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

LK, I have no plans for doing anything with them...just admire the colors and then get rid of them.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Glad to hear your OK Susan! Hope they find that leak soon!
Yeah, those funny mushrooms grow in cow patties from what I have heard.

Lyndonville, NY

Good morning,

Rough night, sick dog again....this time I Think ear infection and she had me up all night with her. 10:00 vet appointment.

I have a feeling if the doc found out Katie is going to be staying in her Van in someones driveway while she recuperates.....they might keep her
in patient a day or two. Sure hope she did well.

From what I hear, colorful mushrooms are NOT edible. I had a bright yellow one grow last year in my potting soil. Prettiest thing but was poison
from pictures I found.

Need to get moving

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I think they will keep her a few days at least? When I had my knee replaced, I was in the hospital for 4 days, then sent home.
Katie, sure hope you can see this, and know we are praying for a speedy recovery!

Debbie, sorry to hear about your dog being sick again! Tell him to stop eating things around the house! LOL!

Betty, did you over sleep this morning?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all..sunshine day in this neck of the woods, sure has a feel of fall in the air. Was up early enough but I went and fed all the planters..they've had a rough time of it this summer..planters hanging from back deck are glorious!

Poor Sailor, she's having difficulties breathing again, been giving her meds, will have to watch and decide what to do.

Sorry to hear you have a 'sick' dog Debbie, know how much you fret. Hopefully it is an ear infection and meds will help. Think one of us should have become a vet!

Perhaps Katie mentioned her situation to the doctor, would be great if she was in for a longer period of time.

Mushrooms, have some here as well but NOT colorful..rather drab.

They've been talking about the shut off for ions Susan, hopefully on first day they find the break and you can have water before the 4 days are up! Quite the storm you had..glad no damage was done.

Traditionally this month is quiet, almost dead..watching movies and brought quilting magazines in with me, checked over my christmas list to see who I could make something for but already gave stained glass pieces to those I would have done something for and last year gave the 12 month of Christmas quilts so I'd be sewing them for the sake of sewing. Would fill in my time though!

I keep thinking we forgot Mary's birthday..anybody know the date?

Verona, ON

Mary's BD is Aug 18 so you didn't miss it. I thought I had too so just checked yesterday.

((((Miss Izzy and Debbie))))

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Betty, and Dianne! Dianne, how did the dentist visit go? Hope your not in a lot of pain today?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Dianne, started to search it out earlier this morning then got sidetracked..what are you and Diesel up to today, did you do your morning walk? Did you say you had a veggie garden??? I've been looking for cuc's and a few other veggie's, sure isn't much on the market..actually I stopped for corn at a roadside vendor, usually a lot to pick from, zilch..was going to get a basket of peached but they look half rotten - 3qt basket was 7.98

LindaKay, been researching embroidery programs for my Janome 9000 - when purchased years ago it was mega $$$ then they stopped making embroidery disks, then to compensate I purchased sew and scan computer unit, man who taught it's use died about same time, never did learn how to use it..see a lot of embroidery companies out there offering disks but not sure they come in jif or sew...how's your new machine doing..there is a sale at Joann's re sewing machines, can't believe how cheap they are..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

New machine is doing good, and someday I will get an embroidery machine. If you can use your computer, some machines you can download a design, and it will transform it into the design you want.

Victoria Harbour, ON

different format..I've got a call into an embroidery club, Janome said they might help with converting..my scan and sew I guess if I took the time to learn it would do everything I want it to do..was thinking next week to bring it in along with my sewing machine, scan something and play with it until it works

Can't understand why our sewing machines are soooo much more expensive here than USA..got to say my next one will be purchased in USA..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not sure LindaKay I'd want to purchase one of the larger quilting units, yikes $10-20K but saw this and thought it would be worth giving it a try..if I get Greg to look at it he might be able to manufacture something similar for me, hmmm

think it's a gimick or it could be useful..only $150 or so plus shipping???

watch the video and let me know your thoughts

http://flynnquilt.danemcoweb.com/

Victoria Harbour, ON

ok broke down and ordered it..will be in the mail tomorrow, up to 2 weeks delivery..total $200 including shipping..now let's hope it's not too frustrating to use

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That looks interesting, but how big is the quilting space? Looks like you would have to do a lot of rolling fabric?

Victoria Harbour, ON

You do when manually maneuver the quilt for machine quilting, this way you wouldn't have to fight the bulk..would imagine it would be as wide as machine throat

barb you have one of the big quilting frames/machine, I sooo envy you being able to quilt all our projects.

LindaKay when I met the two girls at Elvis festival, they were telling me about a great hotel, lots of free bees included but they were telling me about a quilters haven just behind the hotel...will have to ask them for more info

Yikes fell asleep on the couch..woke up when Kyle/Greg dropped in..Wanted to know what was for supper, hmmm, was there no leftovers?? Don't cook unless I know someone would eat it, so homeward bound they went..guess Mel is on the night shift!

Greg did work to Kyle's jeep, looks just like new..tries for his drivers permit Tesday, hope he doesn't get disappointed.

I put my sandals on wich has a bit of a rise and got the what fore..was I looking to fall downstairs again, should have flats for up and down..Lordy makes one feel old and careless.

just thought I'd check in on the night shift before heading off to bed..likely won't sleep for a bit but I can be comfy. Was hoping Katie might have dropped in to say she was ok..don't think they allow laptops in the hospital do they?

Bev if you are lurking, know I'm thinking about you..

What did you all get into??

Joyce, is your dad feeling better?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sending special prayers for Katie tonight and hoping all went well for her. And special prayers that Betty stands upright!!! Poor girl, you have had more than your share of falls lately.
Waving a big hello to all. Miss seeing Dianne, Shirley and Thea...hope all is well....

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Betty - I watched most of the DVD re: quilt frame, and it says "The Multi-Frame can be made any length a quilter needs by adding inexpensive, easy to find metal conduit (EMT) from the home improvement store."
It does sound good - a bit of hand-stitching each part - top, batting, and backing - to the 3 parts of the frame, and then you go, go, go quilting!
Bob built me a quilt frame, but it's much more involved, and he hasn't finished it yet........

Happy Birthday, Mary!

Wonder how Katie is........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ooops thought Mary's birthday was Saturday..yikes Happy Birthday Mary..big hugs coming your way..hope it was a sunshine day!

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

Thank you for the birthday wishes... It is Saturday but I will celebrate all month long so was definitely not too early...

it's quiet around here... Hubs not back yet from delivering our college freshman....

No tears last year but I did have one tiny moment when I had to fight a tear off today. Not sure why. Belle was whimpering as if she knew... DSD was about to leave...

if this is 1/2 the experience that last year's was for older sis.... my life will be exponentially easier...

OH Deb... Wish I could send a couple more threads to hold you up my dear... yes we have all had a summer to end all summers....

Thanks for the wishes Susan, Betty & Deb !

What is everyone up to this weekend other than celebrating my birthday ? ROFLOL....

(HUGS)
Mary

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I did get an interview with an agency about a job they're trying to fill for a client. Six month Temp-to-perm as an Intranet Coordinator. More Admin Support than technical. We'll see.........

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Mary, since you are celebrating all month...grin...here is a "starter" cake....for today, and a Birthday cake for tomorrow...HAPPY BIRTHDAY...and a follow up for the rest of the month...GRIN

Susan, sorry about the position...fingers crossed for the next interview. HUGS

Debbie...hope you start feeling better and stronger soon.

Hello to everyone...

Lyndonville, NY

Ohhh those cakes look yummy!

I made an appointment to get my hair done tomorrow....maybe that will help perk me up. Getting my "curls" back.

My neuropathy pain is flared up big time....and it is hard to get a handle on it. Finding the right mix of "life" to deal is hard right now...but I am a fighter.

Thank you!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning Jean..

Hard to decide what piece of cake I'll ask for..sure do look yummy!

Are you getting any reprieve from the weather?

Home today, wanted to play at sewing, have a few projects I want out of the way for Christmas but with being away 2 weekends and leaving early morning for weekend away I thought I'd best do housework..so far have floors all washed, everything dusted..damp out so takes longer for floors to dry so I can polish..in the meantime have the cushion seat where sailor runs her snout against so will wash it..amazing how much hair even though she is groomed that she loses..she's back for grooming next Saturday and that helps having her done every 4 weeks.

Rained last night but sun is out, so need to cut grass so dry or not I will cut..looking at all on my to do list I'm tired already but am sure to find the energy..might even find an hiur or so to get a bit of sewing done! Shouldn't have unpacked my suitcase, would have been one less thing to do.

Got a call last night, seems Noah has a big Soccer tournament on Sept. 8th..limited to weekends, about the last at Darien Lake so it's either go without him and bring who I can bring or wait until another weekend and book Great Wolf Lodge..last option, have no grandma/grandsons weekend.

Hope you are all up to something exciting today..

Susan, not good news about getting permanent employment. Am sure something will come up ..

Judy called last night, she was so wound up, finally Huber is done and going in the market..she's pleased with her end of the upgrades being landscaping/gardens. She is looking forward to some down time.

LindaKay, we talked about Frankenmuth, if things go well she may be able to take the bus to join in..I couldn't make it the 8th because its out Thansgiving but should weekend after..let us know the plans as I'll have to book hotel room..

Off to start cleaning in craft room.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry to hear you aren't well Debbie, but yes you are a fighter, so much you've beaten..before you know it you'll be Mrs Sunshine again.

How is Izzy doing, Sailor had a bad night, I was worried about her breathing, had all but decided to take her in today but she is sleeping well so I'll put it off again..is coming though!

Lyndonville, NY

Izzy is doing better, but still not 100%. She is on antibiotic pills, ear drops with antibiotic and also steroids.

Betty, why don't you make an "evaluation" appointment at the vet for Sailor. Except for those attacks, she seems so so good. Maybe it is something simple...they can give her a real allergy med or such for to help with her breathing spells instead of just giving her benedryl. It would be worth it to get a peace of mind....and know from the vet you are doing the right thing.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Debbie, there is always some rejuvenating about a bit of pampering...and having your hair done falls under that category for me...grin. A bad case of the blues can be physically debilitating as well as emotionally. I know how frustrating it can be. I sincerely hope you will find some little something to help spark a happier frame of mind, and that the physical hurts will subside soon. HUGs to you and hopes for a brighter day soon.

Betty, I know you are disappointed about the possibility of going without Noah, or not going at all. It can be so hard trying to plan around everyone's schedules. If all else fails, perhaps you could plan a shopping for Christmas weekend with the grandsons. A hotel stay, shopping, eating out, a movie or two...and lots of time to catch up and enjoy them.
Have a good time this weekend and be safe.

The nice thing about virtual cakes....NO CALORIES...so have a couple guilt-free slices of your favorite...or a slice of them all.....LOL
