Joyce, sincerest condolences to you and your family. I do hope you find solace in the time you had with him and the memories you shared. Please know that our loved ones never truly leave us as long as we have the joy of our memories of them.
Best/Worse/what did I learn today? Betty's adventures!
Yup, Mary...strange Huh? Remember a couple years back when they were worried that the Mississippi would overflow the levees? That was due to the exceptionally heavy snowfall/thaw up North....it all flows down to the Gulf and we are close to the end of its flow.
Jean, omg was that in the same region we were in..did the Nachez Steamboat ride on the Mississippi and thoroughly enjoyed..was the ships with heavy loads imagine that low water would play havoc with them wow
Mary, do you still get to celebrate your birthday today?
Debbie, did you enjoy fair yesterday, any crafts??

Jean, there was hardly any snowfall at all up North this year so I am sure that didn't help the situation with the lack of rain also.
Of course Mary gets to celebrate today also! Its the week before....and the week after....because it fell on a weekend! Yep, new rule! haha
Finished cutting the front lawns, tired me out..slept well last night even though it was a hotel room, Darlene was up at 5:30am, I was watching a movie so oth decided to get an early start..was home by 9:30am., went to Midland and did groceries (even bought a tote to put all my Red/White/Blue decorations in)' cut what was left of front lawn and it's noon and I'm ready for a nap!
Calld Greg and asked him to come over and show me how to start that new weeder, said mom I showed you how and even brought you a container of mixed gas...ok, lord Greg that was in May, never did use it and can't remember something that long ago. Lol
Almost hope he doesn't come then I can rest.
Had hoped to see A posting from Katie....Bev and Shirley, thnking of you both
Sorry all. I am here just had so much running around the last few weeks with Scotty and my sister. I am just tired and lethargic and can't seem to get my motor running. Maybe I need an overhaul. LOL !! Praying for all. LOVE BEV
Another thing is the drought. Betty I have lost trees and bushes and daylilies and hoistas. My yard and gardens are no longer pretty. All this is gone. Boo Hoo!!!!!
Yes Betty, that pic of the USS Kidd is in Baton Rouge, which is about 90 miles more or less down river from Natchez. Some boat traffic has been halted as a result all the way up to Wisconsin...and we are experiencing salt water incursion in the River from the Gulf of Mexico.

Thank you all for your hugs and good wishes. I'm really doing okay, as he is now with my Mother where he has really wanted to be since she passed last Sept. Tomorrow at 10:00 the final arrangements will be made, although it was all prearranged and paid for...now just have to come up with some food for after the funeral.
Unbelievable Jean..What a cost to the country re the transportation of goods and how many other things are affected..mind boggling..we sure must have &$£€> Mother Nature off..all of us are hurting in some way with the changes.
Bev, how is Scotty and your sister doing?? Can imagine you running your tail off so all their needs are met..remember, most important thing is 'you' and you must look after yourself.
gardens here are the same..only positive thing is next year they will be back with all their splendor..but not without using a few plants/shrubs along the way. sad though after all the work you put into them.
Greg came, just like having a dad, first thing he says "mom, you use trimmer dressed n shorts". So off to put on another outfit 2rd of the day..did weeding for
1/2 hr. ran out of trimmer cord so that is my excuse to not get entire yard weeded. Lol
Back to the couch
Joyce, grand way to look at his passing..you wouldn't have wanted him suffering!
Was he at home or was he in the hospital over last few days? here's hoping he passed on in his sleep, without pain.
What a great daughter you are!!
Betty Joyce did post above that he passed on in his sleep.
Wish I was closer to help.
You know, one thing I found when Mom passed. All she kept talking about was spending her anniversary with my dad, which was June 21st. AND...he had passed away in 1965. She was married to my step father from 1969 until her death.....but she talked of my father at the end. Mom died June 20th....so she spent her Anniversary on June 21st with him...as she wanted. That made it a bit easier for me.
Betty, you would think the current situation would help wake folks up to the fact that we are "guests" on this planet. Every time I see SAVE OUR PLANET signs I want to tell folks...the planet will do just fine...and even better without us...we need a movement to RESPECT our planet.
There is an excellent series on History Channel called Life After People...the premise: What if one day, the people were all just gone from the planet? It details what would happen based on scientific fact and extrapolation. I find it both fascinating and a caveat to mankind...

(((HUGS))) Joyce... I felt like we got to know him in a sort of way since Betty dropped by to visit... Thoughts and Prayers are with you dear... You are a wonderful daughter (((HUGS))
Joyce - sorry about the passing of your father........ words can't express
Jean - I've seen that show and it's a great one! I sometimes think of the humans on this planet as an "infestation" because of the damage we do. Today my sister sent me a beautiful PPS showing all the beauty that God & Nature gave us, and then asked "why do you do this to it?" and shows all the garbage we spew all over the beauty He gave us........
Thank you all once again.
Betty, Dad was here at home. Bill put him to bed about 9:00 last night as I was at a birthday party. I chose not to wake him when I got in slightly after 10:00 cause I didn't want to wake him if he'd just gotten to sleep. Bill said he was laying in the same position as he was when he helped him to bed. No telling what time he actually passed. He was cold when I touched him to wake him though, so probably early or middle.
Yes, I'm doing fine. He went the way he wanted, when he wanted and smiled til the end. I can smile with my memories....
How hard it must have been for you Joyce!! 94 and living healthy during those years is something we can only hope for. When will your brother/family arrive?
Suzanne asked me to give you and yours her condolences.
Jean I've so enjoyed that link..not sure why I thought it would take centuries for earth to reclaim itself so was amazed at the difference in short periods of time. Ie 5-10 20 50 years. Thank you for posting..will watch additional films tomorrow.
Gave myself the whatfore to get off the couch And get something accomplished..got the rake and did some raking, thought why not burn what was in the pit..before I could light a match it started to rain..lasted no more than 5 minutes..too wet now to burn.
Did cook turnip/potatoes/turkey breast and dressing..thought I deserve a home cooked meal..now back on the couch, here is hoping I don't nap and burn it.
Morning everyone! Looks like everyone is sleeping in!
Coffee is ready, with orange sweet rolls!
Good Morning...I have chocolate croissants to add to the table.
Had to laugh...today was the first day of Grandson's first semester in college. He stressed, dressed, stressed a little more, headed out and called a few minutes ago to say he should have checked his e-mail...classes start on Wednesday....Poor kid....grin
Oh, poor thing, all that stress, and now has to do it again Wed!
Sure enjoyed the yummiest, you are both some bakers..
Omg..poor little one, now he has to stress/dress/stress all over again! Lol
Drats, took a can of coke to bring to work, they make them sooo thin..punctured a hole, entire bag soaking..camera won't work, guess it means I need a new one!
Let's hope cel phone ok ..I pad was high enough in bag didn't get soaked
awwwwww yes, stress again........ stess caused him to forget which day it was, obviously......
geeze Betty - thin cans, indeed!
He is fine....the college had to rearrange the dates...something with the instructors...GS had it right, the school had his e-mail address wrong so he didn't get the notice....but at least now he knows how long it will take him to get there in the mornings and he checked out the location of all his classes, etc. Not a wasted trip as he got his e-mail addy corrected.
In addition to it all being wet, Betty, now it is all sticky too....hope the phone and camera survive.
Glad your GS got his email addy straightened out! No telling how many notices he could have missed with disasterous results (ie: exam dates!!)
Betty - you still have a "fall-back" for your i-phone if it's sticky and needs repair/replacement, right?
Susan, are you off today?
Some colleges are starting this week....DD's starts next week. We went and got books at the college this morning and some errands. She starts training at
new job tomorrow.
Betty, if phone is wet, stick it beside your monitor for computer...it is warm there and helps dry out. They had us put mine in bag of rice and stick it into side of monitor. I was amazed ...it worked!!! Rice absorbed moisture.
Phone ok, camera now working, let's hope it continues to do so
Bought a program and have been playing all day, zillions of options with music, events, captions, movies etc. so just now downloading Darlene's friends wedding photo's. She will be thrilled to get it..pretty amazing
Now on to do my trip
Debbie, you as Jean will be a re just waiting to get them on a schedule and in school..is the child still living on her own?? Sure hope she enjoys the new job!
Did warm up camera..only sticky part forces was the leather case..next time, pop in baggy
Betty, my daughter is in a mess. But yes, still living on her own. I do not know how much longer....but for now, yes. She starts new job tomorrow. Last week was just orientation.
We can only hope all goes well and that bit of stress is no longer..must be so difficult for you..how is Izzy doing?
On my way home. Monday over with
Izzy is doing better. I need to put her in the bathtub tomorrow along with the cats! We have flea issues.
They will not like that will they?
does Izzy put up a fight?
My girlfriend Rita, am sure you met her, put in a dog shower/tab in her basement for washing her German shepherd..sure makes life easier.
take Sailor again for grooming Sat. Seems with constant grooming she has had no hot spots this year..watch now that I've said that she will.
Only one of the cats fights it, the rest are fine....and Izzy will go jump in the tub if I tell her too. She loves a bath. I usually do the cats in the kitchen sink as it has the sprayer....and is easier for me.
Too big of a chore for me to wash Sailor..she is terrified so I have to lift her into tub and then the brushing..for me it's worth groomers fee..wish I could though!
Do the kitties have claws..
How is Paul doing is the gout all but gone?
Thinking a lot about Joyce today..must be overwhelming to lose both parents inside of a year.
no, I'm not off from work today.
Betty - that would be quite the chore to lift Sailor and look after the washing/de-fleaing...... glad you use a groomer.
Been thinking about Joyce today....... they say that for a husband & wife to pass within a year of each other is normal. My GParents did, and they couldn't stand each other....... 6 mo after he passed, she did too. Guess it's the routine, and the # of years together......... Btw - He was the "bad 'un"
Grandma/grandpa were married 67 years and she lived to 99 almost 10 years longer than he...
Yep, not as young as I once was, learned a lesson with the lifting!!
Noah (home for a few days) Kyle, Melanie and a friend just left..came to get my car..Kyle does his test tomorrow for his drivers permit, let us hope he gets it, would be awfully disappointed....told him not everyone gets it on first try, just means he has to book another appointment..not so sure he won't be upset..guess with having his own vehicle he want to be able to drive it on his own without a second driver!
Told him to make sure he brings it back in 1 piece..
Betty, is the drivers test through his school? Down here drivers traing is through the school,,but you have to pay like $250.00, then once you have your permit, you have to drive with a licensed driver for 6 months, then you get your drivers license. Long process.
Glad to hear your phone and camera are OK!
Hello To All !
Yes - still celebrating the bday... had a cake at work along with 2 co workers...
Hubs and I went out to dinner... there is a local restaurant (delicious) that mails you free gift certificates for your bday....
Debbie ...please look into Comfortis.... gave 1 pill to Belle in March and NO fleas since then...
I almost can't believe it myself.
Monday Monday....
Oh Jean - saw the business report in re: Mississippi barely staying open as a route for ships etc due to the drought and thought about you. Is GS at BRCC ?
(HUGS)
Mary
Mary, she is on that....has been. Not doing a thing!! I think I was the one told you about it after her flea infestation last year.
Glad you are still celebrating! Much fun!
OMG Deb ! Maybe you mentioned it...but had a client tell me about it back in March and I went straight to the vet and bought it... Can't believe it's not working for you...but maybe it's a different strain of fleas....
Betty praying Kyle gets his permit.... Hoping he has been humbled since his picking up of the jeep...
Hugs for all... lots going on here and will update you all asap...
Mary
Morning all, ohhh sweater weather!! What a change in such a short period of time..by October Lindakay likely be wearing snowmobile suit..just a kidding!
Yes, Kyle took Drivers-Ed and it shortens time that he could try for his license..as for his disposition, back to my Kyle, thank goodness..just think it was a lot to throw on him all at once..he doesn't do 'surprise' well. Sure am hoping all goes well today for him.
Mary, still a few more days left in your birthday month..better get all the spoiling you can..anxious to hear your news..here's hoping it is what I think it is...praying in my corner of the world.
Mississippi River news not improving is it?
Joyce sending prayers and soft hugs
Sure wish we'd hear how Katie is doing.
Gee Debbie, that must be one strong strain of fleas
Barb, how are you doing? Liz??
BJ did you finally get the surgery in? soon time for your trip
Just looked at the clock, better get a move on..
Waving to all
