Prayers for you guys D BEV
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? chat with friends!
Hey Bev, how are you and Scotty doing? Bet your gadens are blooming really nice?
Dianne, please know that we are with you both in spirit, and praying that the good Lord and meds keep SW pain free!
Hello To All ;
Dianne - It hurts to read it but I'm so glad you post the reality of the situation ... not only is it better to know what is going on... I have to hope it helps you to share with us... ((HUGS)) I can't imagine having the strength you have... hope I would in your shoes. ((HUGS)) To you and Santa Warren....and Stormy.... and all the furries.
Bev - planted Daylilies and thought about you today... Got 2 Dayliles from the swap, not sure what they are.
Jean - what did you do outside today? Earth Day ? We had such great weather.
LK - I've always wanted to visit San Antonio... my Dad is so hard of hearing...was in the Air Force.
Betty (HUGS) hoping you feel better soon. don't know what to offer, maybe try Debbie's "Vicks on the Feet"... that helped me it seemed once...
We left around 6p Fri, and arrived after 11p ...I drove the whole way. Got up and headed to the swap, 45 minutes away... Got there and started unloading, introducing Hubs, someone grabbed me to come get a plant... and left hubs... he loves to talk folks up... we were seperated most of the time but he seemed to really enjoy visiting with folks. At one point the gal who organizes it fussed at him for not being 'greedy enough' so I started teasing him that here was my THIRD Swap and his FIRST and he was about to get "kicked out".... LOL
The Cannas and especially my Varigated Canna (that I owe to Deb) was my "Best selling" item LOL... was concerned about those 'going' but they all did and quickly. The hibby cuttings were harder to get rid of but I did so I'm happy about that. They weren't grown very big but (if we go back) I should have better/nicer ones.
I got 4'oclocks which I REALLY wanted... a wonderful lady brought me many iris, a pestasite (?new to me but interesting) a little prince banana, I got a NICE sized confederate rose (x2) bromeliad, pitcher plant, amaranthus (hubs favorite), ETC! gosh back of tahoe was full !
put about 9 plants in the ground today... it was beautiful outside. But had to stop ... hubs had an old friend drop by he had not seen in 18 years... So had to try to be presentable...
Susan - so glad you have angels to help you ...
(HUGS)
Mary
hugs ....D & W
Malena will be here Tuesday some time??? they were supposed to be here tomorrow afternoon, the plan had been for them to leave very early in the morn. I have tomorrow and Tues off :( so I won't get much time with her :(
don't know why things got changed?? I will just have to make the best of whatever I get.
oh ho.... little Marlena is coming....... sorry to hear you won't be able to get much time with her - maybe they'll arrive early Tues am? "bring a kid to work day" yeah..... THAT'S it! Tell the bosses they must have missed that on the calendar lol She'd probably love it!
I suppose it's too late to switch to Tuesday/Wednesday for your days off...........
Mary - Vicks on the feet helped me, too........ put socks on, and vicks on the chest with a t-shirt on..... keeps the warmth in. Lots of plants, eh? Well, it's time for me to think about getting our veggie garden rotto-tilled. I think we can borrow a rottotiller from church friends of ours.........
morning, see blue sky out there, weatherman says it will warm up in a few days..then comes our rain!
Dianne, how did you and your love ones fare during the night? Hope all were able to get some sleep.
Did not go to emerge last night, called and they said 4 to 6wait' providing no additional ambulances coming in...nope, not doing that. managed to sleep off and on. Telephone rang at 5:30am, Suzanne had the flu over the weekend and not doind well today, asked if I could do a few things for her today, calls, clients coming in etc...sounded terrible, didn't have the heart to say I was going to stay home so now I have to get ready..already have meds packed along with a blanket..likely sleep most of the day..thankfully there is a buzzer when clients come in the outer office.
Will gab when I get to work
Did you tell Suzanne that you were ill as well? I bet not....Please take it as easy as possible Betty.
Dianne, Norm and I are holding you both so close in our hearts. It is not an easy thing that you do here and I have so much admiration for your strength. Warren is a very lucky guy to have you and to have your care. So many are just left to deal with this alone and you have been a rock for him. I'm so very proud to call you friend!!!!
Good Morning Everyone!
Well, I first want to thank you all for your thoughtfulness and prayers. I've been keeping busy working outside. I am not good at checking in but you guys are always in my thoughts. I left for the week end and spent it in St.Jo with my Sis. I took a load of furniture down from Mom's place and helped her with that and did some work around there for her. I just thought it would be a good to not be here. It was good to keep busy and be able to help someone else. I'm gonna go out for supper with a couple of friends this evening.
Cool outside this morning but will go out and finish unloading the Durango and pull somemore weeds. I will then clean off the garden and till and spray it with roundup. I will plant some tomatoes in the planter boxes that Tubby made and flowers in the other ones. I've gotten alot done but still have a ways to go. When I get that done I'm gonna start cleaning out the buildings and get ready for an auction. I am gonna talk to the guy that is interested in the farm and see what he'll give me for it. I plan on selling off most of the stuff and moving to Wisconsin to be near my Daughter and family. There really isn't anything here for me and I think it would be for the best. His family blames me for everything and so I don't need that in my life. The girls were out about a month or so ago and it was all about what I did wrong and so I don't need that. Enough on that subject. Life goes on.
Dianne and Warren my thoughts and prayers are with you. Warm and big gentle arm wraps to you both.
Thoughts and prayers for everyone who needs them. Please take care everyone and have a good day and may it be filled with sunshine and love to all. Will check in later or tomorrow morning as I need to get off my duff and get busy.
Shirley
Oh Shirley, you've made my day a sunshine day just seeing that you had posted. So much going on in your life but I think you are headed in the right direction. So much work needs done at the farm and much too big for you to keep up with it, as for Tubby's children you have nothing to be ashamed off nor do you have to answer to them.Been there and done that and still to this day I ache because of it, but I've moved on, kept the good of Roger's family and left the others behind.. in the end by doing so it makes it easier to move forward without regrets! It was a hard year for you with the loss of your mom as well, we often think of you..always enjoy your postings and so hope that you will continue to come sit, chat and be with friends who love you. From the sounds of it, you are thinking of making the change closer to your daughter's as quickly as you can, you will enjoy being closer..does this mean closer to your sister as well?
be back in a few...
Hi Everyone, I made to safe (but tired) toSan Diego and picked up my ambulance yesterday. I have a ton of errands to do. Must go to Yuma to get it liscensed and get driver's liscense renewed (forgot on my birthday). Then try to get in to see my doctor at Kaiser. Shopping for basics for camping as I was not able to bring much up with me on the bus. I'm still tired from the trip but recovering and learning to handle the ambulance.
Glad SW is home.
hugs, katie
Is the ambulance Katie what you expected, didn't get taken???? You'll feel better once you get all your errands done and a good night of rest! Will purchasing a computer be one of your errands? Don't do too much all in one day.
((((((((Shirley)))))))))) SO good to see you posting!! I agree with you - nicer to be near your friends and family that supports you, rather than stay in a "toxic" situation near your in-laws. I hope this means you will be nearer your sister......
I also hope it means you will have a more stable internet and can connect with us (who also love you) more often!
Katie - yaaaaaaaay for having gotten your ambulance! :-) Thank goodness you got through your bus trip alright.
Betty - you Didn't tell Suzanne you were ill, did you?!!!! (not really a question - we Know you didn't). oh girl....... you need to respect your health a lot better than that...... Well, hope you bundled up warmly for the trip, and it's not too damp today.
(((((((Dianne)))))))) bless you - keeping you close in my heart as you deal with this day by day.
Isn't it nice to see Shirley posting...made my day!
Susan, I had been home all of last week sick (although telephones were to my house) the minute she called at 5:30am to ask if I was coming in I just knew from her voice she couldn't come..think someone called all the clients because I only had 4 calls so no talking, sitting in my big chair, feel up, downing meds, watching movies on the ipad so likely I got more rest here than I would have being home..
Tonight I have to clean the craft room because all the girls are coming tomorrow with windows to do garden art adding dragonflies, bobbles and being creative with glass so lots of room required then I can just lay down and do nothing.
June called and said she would go over to my house early tomorrow morning and spray lysol (have an allergy to it so can't use it when I'm home) so that they kill all the germs..
Had taken a photo this morning before leaving, Sailor was sleeping on living room rug and the kitties, well they were enjoying nap time...oppps woke Missy!
Sharon's piece is done except for waxing.. just spoke with her, she gets so emotional when nearing the anniversary of my dad's death..will be 9 years on Thursday. Time to do the graveyard run again..
awwwwwww you woke Missy?!?!?! tsk tsk tsk
I can see your point about resting more at work cuz you're not doing stuff around the house lol
I hope you're not "catering" to the girls when they come - show 'em where the tea/coffee pots and supplies are and they can "play mother" to YOU! :-)
Betty - I will be thinking of you and your dad this Thursday..... only 9 years is a short time. My dad's been gone for 30 years (this Christmas) and I still sigh when I think of him. He's in my thoughts often......
Afternoon everyone! We are back home. We had a great trip, and an excellent dinner!
Shirley, thanks for popping in and letting us know what your up to! I agree with the others, I think your doing the right thing, selling the farm, and moving closer to family!
Katie, glad you made your trip OK! How does the ambulance handle? Is it hard to drive? Hope you were able to get an appointment at kasier.
Looks like I will be getting another knee replacement, and or hip replacement sometime soon, as it is getting so painful for me to do much walking anymore! I am going to call a specialist, and see what they can do! Hopefully get an appointment in the next 2 or 3 weeks.
Ohh LindaKay, doesn't seem that long ago you had a knee replacement?? Or am I wrong! Ouchhh on a hip replacement..guess its worth the extreme pain to get feeling better on a daily basis. How did Todd make out today , hearing ok? Did you get to see Dylan?
ouch on the knee OR hip replacement!
My neighbour Fran had a knee replacement and is So happy with it.
My other neighbour Bud wants one, but they won't do it until he loses weight (he's about 325) and they won't remove his "stomach fat" because that would be a "cosmetic" surgery which isn't allowed right now for $$ reasons.
It's really getting to be a (pardon the pun - no one would Really choose it....) Surgery of Choice nowadays - you hear much more of it than we used to........
I had a knee replacement about 4 years ago, and it did not take, it is loose, and when I walk, it hurts pretty bad.
Todd did not pass the hearing test, he has to go back in 2 weeks for more test to determine what is causing the hearing problems.
Susan, the stomach surgery is being done here, as they realize they can save a persons life, and keep other diseases from setting in. The Dr.'s are not removing anything other than a piece of your stomach.
so sorry to hear Todd didn't pass the hearing test! In the meantime, is he still working near the flight lines where he may get more hearing damage? I certainly hope he has a way to lessen the problem...... AND find out for sure how it happened in the first place.....
It's the first time I'd heard of a knee replacement not "taking"! What's the reason it didn't?
My neighbour Bud has lost quite a bit of weight, but with his stomach "in the way" they won't do a hip replacement. He's been trying for over a year to get them to do it. He's certainly "in" for the hip replacement as he's always on crutches for anything he does and also has a motorized recliner to get in and out of his chair. He even has specially equipped van to get in/out and to drive it, and a ramp for his wheelchair.
Sorry to hear Todd didn't pass the test..if his hearing doesn't improve would he Lise his job?? Sure hope not as it's likely the cause! LindaKay, it's the same knee and they replace the last one, wouldn't that be tricky?
They do lap band surgery here, if for health reasons think its included under medical care system.
Guess we have a different med care system here, in Alberta.......... Also, I think they're afraid that if they do a hip replacement and he gains back the weight it would mess up the replacement. Which is why he wants to lose the stomach from when he lost whatever weight he did lose...... not sure, but may have been 50 lbs........ could lose another 100lbs I'm sure........
Yeah, it is my right knee, that I had replaced a few years ago! It did not hold, and is loose, so it wobbles and pinches nerves when I walk. So I need to have it replaced.
Todd will be retiring in a few years, so if he can't do his current job, they can move to something else.
Glad to hear there's a contingency plan in place for Todd!
That is a relied re Todd's present job..I would imagine many have had to find alternate jobs...thought there was a law in place to protect workers re noise levels. Are there long waits for such things as knee replacement? Guess you compensate by putting more weight on other knee and create stress on hip..guess the doctor will decide if you need both
Mary before I settle in for the night wanted to inquire as to how many pretties you brought home and also once back home thoughts your hubby had about the roundup??
Can any of you tell me where to find the photo contest photo's and winners???
Found the photo contest..
Look at the pretties and look who one of the winners is...
Hope this link works
http://davesgarden.com/contest/2012-invasive-species-contest/winners.php?catid=415
Love those photo's!
Yes, because I am limping and favoring my bad knee, it puts more pressure on my hips, and good knee. Hope I can get something done soon. There is always a wait here. It takes time, cause you have to have more MRI's and stuff done, so they will know what is wrong.
Gee Betty - I don't recognize any names from the winners......... should I?
LK - if work isn't done on your knee soon, then both hips and other knee will be impacted badly........ I guess they have to make sure the best treatment/replacement simply because the first one didn't "take" so I can appreciate the wait, but know that it will be difficult to wait..........and wait.........
Our Bev, dragonfly
OH!! forgot the end of her nickname lol
Congratulations, Bev!! It's a really good shot of the dragonfly! I know the dragonfly is a pest, but the damselfly is a beneficial insect....

congratulations BEV !
Betty - I absolutely can't get Hubs to rave over the swap...but I know how he is... he LOVED it...!!! he is just trying to act all "cool" since it was my idea... LOL...
I asked his fav swap and he said the amaranthus... which I had requested knowing he would love it...I also think the folks there enjoyed him coming... one was teasing him about enticing him to come in October for some gloriosa lilies (he loves those... has some in a pot but needs to put in the ground)
We will see come October how excited he is...(HUGS)
Got a bloom today I have to show you all... brb... (hugs) Mary
I have missed you all so much. Had a little unplanned trip....but
Spent time with Shoe, had a wonderful time with him....he is simply amazing.
I just got home about 11:00 tonight, am exhausted and hungry and need to go to bed.
HUGs, prayers and sweet dreams to all
Debbie
hahahaha Mary - your Hubs loved it - you and he know it!! Beautiful Canna!
Debbie - so glad to see you back, and know you had a wonderful time with Shoe!
Good night all!! Time I went to bed - it's 1am!! lol
Just finished watching a Jack Nicholson/Dianne Keaton in "Something's Got To Give" - about a woman (Dianne Keaton) who lives at her beach house in the summer, and falls in love with her daughter's boyfriend.(Jack Nicholson). He's 63, has a heart attack, and needs to stay put - at her beach house! Meanwhile, his Dr is Keanu Reeves and HE falls in love with Dianne Keaton, a famous playwright...........
I've seen parts of it before, but this is the first time I've seen the whole thing - fabulous movie!!
Morning all, very light mist this morning but I decided to make stroll through all the gardens..lots of growth, everything looks healthy, might have lost 2 or 3 shrubs but there may still be hooe..doubtful but who knows...
Starting my morning with prayers for Dianne and Santa Warren..there are no words but hoping the prayers are answered!
Mary, men..Roger would do the same, not much said to me but get him with family and friends and he rambled on..got to know his inner excitement after a few years.lol
Omg look at your red leaf canna..spectacular!! Your time for Disney is nearing, another reason for smiles.
Susan, saw that movie a few times, loved it!
Debbie, welcome home, tired you must be, hoping you will share with us a few stories of your adventure...especially how it came about.
Bev, amazing, you must sit for hours for just the right moment..I need a better camera.
Slow moving this morning..best I get a move on
Edited to add..
My primrose are in bloom..

Good Morning All & Happy May Basket Day!
Been many years since I passed out May baskets. Anyone else remember those days? Oh to be young again, okay if I knew what I know now.
Windy here and suppose to rain this evening into tomorrow. Gonna make it hard to get the mowing done. May have to just stick inside this week. Oh well, I have plenty to do no matter if it's in or out.
I meant a couple of dear friends last night and we went out for supper. We laughed till our sides ached. It was good and always look forward to seeing them. Tubby used to say it was like being on the show The View cuz they both talk at the same time and often about two different things. I've always been able to keep up but used to drive Tubby crazy, but he so enjoyed their visit.
Unfortunately, it will be further away from the Sis but I can always go visit or she can come there. There's always flying if neither of us want to drive.
Well, I better get something done instead of sitting here at the computer. Will try to check in later. Hope the day is good for all and filled with sunshine and love.
Shirley
OMG Shirley sounds like my sister and my cousins (more me than anyone else) because we get so excited we just go from subject to subject to subject.lol but like you, we all follow the conversation! So glad you got to meet up with them and that they brought laughter into your life. I cut my grass a week ago, with the rain we've been having it's in need of it again, just not up to it..do you use a rider? If you've property like we had at the farm we had a unit behind the tractor..I just lovvved cutting the fields and the pathway to what we called Camp David..we had 2 acre pond where we had a trailer..on weekends we'd spend it out there and have friends come camp with us..those were in the good days..
I'm sure you'll enjoy having visits with your sister..does she have family where she lives or would she ever consider moving to the same area you are going to?
No, Sis is the only one that lives down in MO. She has alot of close friends but has no family but her siblings.
We have 3 acres. It's an all day job or almost two days to do the trimming and mowing. Yes I have a rider. We used to do it with push mowers, some were self-propelled which helped. Still have to use that in areas I'm not comfortable with using the rider cuz it's too steep for me.
Okay, now it's off to get something done. BBL
Shirley
I am so singing Goood Morning!!
Woohoo, We are back in business with a computer at home!!! ROFLOL, it's probably an original, takes up the whole desk top, hahaha, but what the heck at least I can still get on line from home even tho this thing is sooo slow sometimes...
