Morning everyone!
Betty, love those stories! But I think I would have demanded a discount, if not a refund for the room! YUCK!
Dianne, sending you big ((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))) for stormy! Praying Warren will be home soon!
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? chat with friends!
Did ask for one LindaKay but when there are no rooms left let alone 4 in top end of Florida and it's 9pm you just don't argue
Big prayers with you, Dianne. Tough times.
I'm more relaxed since being assurred I'm on the surgery appointment list. Square Trade has agreed to refund the money I paid for my computer; I need to send it back to them when I'm in Ca. Good news, I can pack it up.
Betty, love the stories.
My schotia tree is in full bloom and I have lots of birds visiting.
Our weather is warming up and we are getting what work we can done before our real hot weather hits and we go into survival mode.
hugs, katie
Is good news Katie! Am sure once you have your surgery and not worrying about it things will be brighter. Will you purchase another computer once you get your refund? Will be a major item to be trotting on the bus..will go chech out what a schotia tree is?
Laying here with rag quilt, flannel blanket on me and still cannot get warmed Brrr. Think it's the dampness. Greg will come after work for a little visit..always nice.
Can't get warm here either Betty and I am not ill. Brrrrrr it is cold and damp. Have the wood stove going full blast.
Safe travels Katie Glad you are going to finally have some satisfaction with your computer.
Back in a bit.
Dianne
I would imagine in your case Dianne you are do run down the cold/damp weather I'd doing same to you. I'm singing "put another log on the fire...." just for you.
Think Lindakay and Susan gave me their colds..nice of them huh?? The light coming in the living room window is hurting my eyes,,
Does SantaWarren's hospital have specific visiting hours or is it open door policy.
Just start. To doze off and telephone rings..last 2 wrong numbers. Drats
Maybe I'll make myself some soup..should have told Greg to bring KFC along with more neocitrin.
Me passing through again......does Busch Gardens sound about right Betty? It is in/near Tampa.
Marion, waving as you pass through..one day come sit a spell..YES, Busch Gardens it was! Don't know why I couldn't remember, wasn't far from mom (Clearwater)
Have you been playing at gardening since you are back from spending time with your mom?
Betty!!!! LK & I DID NOT give you our cold.......... I still have mine... :-(
Dianne - you must take care of yourself........ keep warm
Katie - glad you're feeling less stress, now that you know you're on the Surgery List
Dianne - missed what you said about him, but know you are doing your besr for him....... Hope Stormy is doing ok, too. Are you getting enough rest? hope so............
I still have mine too. One day it seems to be getting a bit better, then wham, it knocks me down again! My head is still underwater with the stuffiness, and I still can't keep anything in my tummy. I will eat something, and if it does not give me major heartburn, it seems to go straight through!
Katie, I had to look up that schotia tree. We don't have them here, but they sure are pretty!
Dianne, will Warren be home for the week end?
That would be nice, if he is......
I quit sneezing and having such a head cold, then it became cough only, now I seem to be blowing my nose more again...
Bob's getting a little stuffy too, so have him taking Cold FX Daily Defence so he doesn't get it as bad.
Bob went and got a new Beta Tank for our fishy (he seems to be okay)....... and he also got some boards to set into the wall, so he can re-hang the tempered glass shelves.
I went to Bible Study this am, and am 50/50 about whether I should go to Choir Practice tonight. Today was the first time I've been away from the house since I went to a meeting April 9th evening.
Well Stormy has had his first lot of meds and he is worse than when he got up this morning. I am sure the stress of to going to the vet's plus the level of tension and stress in our home has something to do with Stormy's well being.Unfortunately Stormy has a degenerative condition and all of his piddling is tied directly
to the problems in his hind end. Stormy is constantly dribbling urine and is mortified as he is a very clean dog. His condition will continue to get worse and I am faced with a quality of life question. My choice today for Stormy was to try 1 last round of meds knowing even if they do help I am just buying time.Buying time is is indeed what I need. I need to get Santa Warren home so my 2 precious 'old boys' can have some time together. The biggest problem we have with the hospital right now is we are having trouble getting the different disciplines to agree on the next step.SW's Pal Care doc has filed the paperwork for a daily home nurse plus a hospital bed and assured my via phone today that Santa Warren will be discharged. Wooooo Hooooo! Now maybe I will be able to sneak a nap in here and there during the day.
Going to make some cookies. I'm thinking Peanut Butter. But I need to make sure there is enough peanut butter to do the job,
Dianne
Sorry to hear stormy is not doing well! Sure hope Warren comes home soon. You will get some relief with the nurse there.
Dianne, can hear through your typed words the excitement at having Santa Warren home, know its where he wants to be and where you want him to be! Thinking of Stormy cuddled beside Santa Warren, both old boys giving comfort to each other while the mamma of the house silently sits by the wood stove , napping but always with one eye open checking but for the moment that everything is right in her world..will not take them long to get a hospital bed to you? Do you figure with help od a nurse that he might be home by Saturday? I'm so happy I should get up and make homemade cookies, no peanut butter so it will have to be chocolate chip.
Drats, I started when home to give my little paper boy a toonie when he delivers local paper filled with flyers on Thursday, finally fell into a deep sleep after taking headache pills, covering my head with damp towel and rap rap rap...had to find a toonie!
Just fell back to sleep and Greg calls, "mom what kind of neocitrin, there is all different kinds! Confusing he says..Lordy just tell the pharmacist your mom is hacking, running a fever, just plain filled with cold symptoms, don't really care!!!
No sense drifting off to sleep as he should be here any minute!
So happy to hear at least one Dr has gotten paperwork, nurse and hospital bed in the works for SW to get HOME!
Now, you'll have to find a spot to put another bed, where there's not a lot of walking for SW to go anywhere...... don't go straining and doing too much to get a place ready. Can you get your neighbour to help with the clearing of an area?
Betty - from the sounds of it, you're congested and need a phlegm and chest congestion, plus head cold meds - Benydril makes a good one, plus Neocitron has daytime and nighttime versions. If you're not going to be driving, or doing anything that needs a clear head, (and you want to Sleep!!) you can take the Nighttime version I know that I've taken it day & night, and I sleep (didn't take Neocitron this time - just Benydril, and cough syrup with Codeine which really settled my cough) Benydril is great for getting rid of chest congestion & phlegm............!!!
Thanks Susan..not cheap getting sick. Is it!!
Cathy dropped in and brought me my mail, she is quite congested as well. Greg didn't stay long once he heard the two of us hacking, said he had enough problems didn't need to add being sick. Boys, got the old "call I'd you need me". Lol
Told him that I ordered a storage shed, they will build in sections and their men will come and build it on sight as you can't get to the backyard with a truck, got the 'of course you can, just means the loss of a few shrubs and 2 gardens..'. Like heck, I'll pay to have the men carry the wood..men, not all enjoy gardens...he is so like his father...reminded him on mothers day he and his brother would be emptying the back shed and dismantling the metal one to make room for the one I ordered..said he would not and started to laugh..brat...
Raining again, grass sure is green..by the time the weekend comes I'll need to cut grass again.
oh, you and Cathy are a pair................ Should email Greg and tell him you ladies need his compassion, not the ole "call me if you need me" routine LOL (I won't, but I Could!! lol)
So, you spoke to TimbrTown, and they will send some hunks out to build your new shed? Lose your shrubs And 2 gardens, even for a little while? NOT!! You pay, and they work around Your schedule, and gardens. You're right, most men couldn't care less, nor do they realize the time and work that went into these gardens over the past several years........ hmmmmmmm brat indeed!!!!! lol
We don't have enuff grass to be cutting it, but it sure is green, and we sure do have rain today.... tomorrow.......next day... Where's that ark? lol
Neither Bob nor I will be going to Choir practice tonight - he's getting a bit stuffy too......
Sorry. To hear Bob's getting the cold as well..best stay home and not spread it around.
Yes, Tanya at TmbrMart called late afternoon..said all has been arranged..will take a few weeks for fabrication,.will give me time to everything in order. Greg thought it was a bit pricey..oh well..want it done..
Each year I pick a major project , guess this will be it. Hard to imagine now what this place looked like 7 years ago both inside and outside it's taken a toll on my energy level.thank goodness it was then and not now or I'd never have undertaken such overwhelming projects.
I've been looking at the staircase going downstairs, time to paint it, would you all come help me..each take a step?
Hello To All !
Marion - why don't you come visit us in Florala saturday !
HUGS Dianne and Santa Warren and Stormy.... yes need to get the old guys home and together....wonder if a doggie diaper would help Stormy out....
Jean - I actually call Ft Walton "home"... went to High School there ....sis is still there and Dad is in Wewahitchka (near Panama City) so I have driven that route a couple of times... See - we have so much in common really need to meet you my dear !
Dad would make the same lemon/honey mixture but sneak a little whiskey in there....and we kiddos thought that was SO cool (and naughty!)
Betty - you remember I had whooping cough last year ? broke some ribs ? why don't you get some bloodwork done... just to make sure...
Yes it's "Yay" for hubs to come ... hoping he catches the "swap flu".... and joins me at all of them...at any rate if he gets excited about them then he will help me make cuttings and pot stuff up....
He says we'll leave tomorrow 5p? 6p? 6 hour drive... I need to go make ressies...
TOO funny Betty about your escapades....
Hugs all,
Mary
PS: DEBBIE ?????
Mary, that sounds great but alas I am not sure what I will be doing by Saturday. Report today is Mom is not doing well once again, running fever and another UTI suspected. I am "sorta" on standby..........
One of these days!
(((((((Marion))))))) difficult times for you, Sue & Kim, indeed........ My thoughts and prayers are with you, always.
Betty - one step at a time? I could paint more....... I'm a "painting fool". My friends say - "you're always painting, Susan!" Well, it's one way to make a place "my own" and put my own stamp on things....... plus, no one ever has the same colour likes/dislikes as another person. plus, I like to change my paint colour preference, dependant upon my mood LOL
Marion, your mom sure is a fighter! It's been a hard 2 years for you and your sister watching her struggle with health issues.
Mary, glad it was a positive 'yeah'. Will be nice to spend the weekend away with. Hubby in tow..doubt I could have talk Roger into it.
Susan, when visiting friends I love some of the vibrant color themes they use. Came home and tried such a color in the basement, before the weekend was over I repainted. Lol. Always back to soft colors. I would love to carpet the staircase going downstairs but I'd be vacuuming daily. Until Sailor is no longer with me it's a paint job..
Did Bob fix the wall?
Nope, not yet - he went out and bought the 2 lengths of board he's going to put in the wall. Then he came & picked me up, now he's "relaxing" playing his RP games on the computer............
He's a little bit of a ...............procrastinator............. yup, that's it!! lol Sometimes I have to 'get on his case" to do stuff, but he's good at doing stuff when he does it.........
Now that's where my tools would come out...lol
I'm so busy doing the lap quilt, and 'sides - probably give me a coughing fit to go lifting that heavy (and long) glass shelf. He got really nice lumber to put "in" the wall. It will be set in flush with the drywall, and this isn't something I'm comfortable doing. It's better left with someone who is comfortable doing construction!
The boards he got are "finished" on the edges, and he just has to trim the ends (they have a bit of splintered edges and he wants them smooth, of course)
I'm almost finished the 1st lap quilt - done all the SID on the block borders, now am doing the internal diamonds. I will not be doing the crazy quilt parts around the diamonds, so should likely be finished by the end of next week.
THEN to send off the 2 centers for the 2 groups of Round Robins I belong to.......... :-)
Morning, it's going to be a sunshine day, not the warmest but sunshine none the less!
Sitting quietly this mornimg, slow moving..a record set, almost 8:30 and my bed is not made lol
Am hoping not to many calls, the minute a speak into hacking I go, you all know what that is like.
Going to do my hair, dress me self up and maybe that alne will make me feel like I'm human again. If by 3 I'm feeling up to it will go to stained glass shop, TimbrMart so I can pay for she'd and ask that an add on be included..might even stop at the mall for Chinese, treat myself to Friday night din/din..
Susan, even not feeling the best you are a ball of energy..I'm sure you just want these projects being you! Exciting isn't it too work towards a goal and seeing the finished project.
Barb, been thinking of you a lot lately, you aren't overdoing with your sewing are you?
Dianne, we will all be waiting to hear if SantaWarren comes home today or tomorrow..how did Stormy spend his night?
Waving to everyone, hope it's a sunshine day in your neck of the woods and that you have something special planned for today and the weekend.
Ahhh our Mary is off for an adventure with hubby, too bad we all couldn't go..nice to dream
Good Morning.
Mary, hope you have a grand time in Florala....and a safe trip.
Betty, my response to my children's questions "what do you need that for?" etc is to smile and say, Need has nothing to do with it..want is everything.....and your inheritance is tied up in insurance, so not spending it, relax....followed by a hug and Thanks for caring.....puts them off guard everytime....GRIN
There is a wonderful product called Guaifensin...marketed OTC as Mucinex...it thins phlegm and makes it easier to clear the air passages. It also helps to calm coughs and make them more productive....ask your Doctor if it is okay with your other meds....it really helps.
Dianne...big hugs for you...wish I had magic words to fix it all, but I can offer an ear, good thoughts and positive energy.
Good job on the needle work Susan. Fingers crossed and good thoughts for you.
Happy Friday to you all.
Just lost a long, chatty post. Staying inside listening for the phone.
Make sure ladies you do something nice for yourself today.
Safe travels Mary. Anxiously awaiting details about your excursion, and what trades you got.
Dianne
I tried to post earlier, but DG "went down".
Betty - how Do you remember all the lives of everyone...........I try, but my remembry ain't all that good anymore LOL
Guess when I was working my memory was being used, now it's turning to mush LOL
I sit quietly, and can get a lot of hand quilting done............ right now I'm just doing the inside diamonds then I will put the sashing on, and I'm Done the first lap quilt for Leland - then it's on to do one for his wife, Laura! I've sandwiched it, now need to hand quilt IT!
Thanks, Jean - need all the good thoughts and prayers I can get right now........ had about 1 hour sleep last night, don't know why........
Yeah, Dianne - I lost a post too - when DG went down.......... ah well.........
Dianne, here is hoping you get the call that Santa Warren is coming home, would they bring him by ambulance ...much too cold out there for you, sit enjoy...maybe put another log on the fire
Put another log on the fire.
Cook me up some bacon and some beans.
And go out to the car and change the tyre.
Wash my socks and sew my old blue jeans.
Come on, baby, you can fill my pipe,
And then go fetch my slippers.
And boil me up another pot of tea.
Then put another log on the fire, babe,
And come and tell me why you're leaving me.
Susan not sure what you mean by remembering all the 'lives'??
Don't have a great memory, once did..now it's partially selective..lot of Alzheimer's on both sides of the family, when is it you decide, could I have this??
Odd how once the day progresses we get feeling worse..Talking of memories, cant remember ifi told you all, Darlene, Ann and I we're going to Buffalo next weekend..Darlene's coming down with cold again, Ann not feeling the best and I just want a quiet weekend so we cancelled!
Betty, there is lots of the for you all to get over this crud. Hope your all feeling better soon!
Just burning, not used to meds, when Dar called to check up to see if I needed anything told her he got a box of neocitrin, she had a fit because I'm on blood pressure meds and shouldn't take..was going to go to emerge but they say 7 hr. wait, not going to do that..will cover up, shiver, take what meds I have, be the asme as what the doctor would say..aren't I a cry baby. Lol. Got to seek out sunglasses, light is driving me crazy..Susan, Linda Kay how long did yours last?
Hope all the colds, etc clear up. And SW gets home and can cuddle with Stormy.
We have done some major work in the last couple of days. I have finally accepted that I'm probably never have the time/energy to build a bottle house so Tony and I cleared them out of the storage area and Rafael and a friend took two truck loads of old bottle to the dump. Whew!!
Saw neighbor Dana on the road and offered to bring her stuff from Ca. but they will be leaving in a week or two. Things are stil cool between us since I asked her to stop "helping" with suggestions on my houuse/garden. With them gone it is much quieter here, especilaly less barking as they have three dogs who "converse" a lot with my five.
Must get packed for my bus trip.
hugs, katie
Hi Betty and Everyone!!
OMG, so much to catch up on. i've read until my eyeballs couldn't any more/lol.
Jean, I was so sorry to hear of your neighbors sudden death. I hope her husband can find some comfort in his gardening.
...Aww shucks, you and Mry wasn't able to link up at the Earthday festivities!! Well, one day you two will have to have a mini roundup!
LOL, isn't it funny...to live so close to someone and still not have a chance to see each other often...Have a DG friend who lives 1 hour away. We make appointments a couple of times a year...
It's nice to see you are seeing the Trilliums!! they are spectacular...We have them in the Grove. A historical landmark here just up the road from us.
Mary, so exciting your DH is going with you to the roundup!! Have a blast and safe travels.
and i got to say: I/We are sooo Proud of you girl! Just think just a couple if years ago you only had a few things...lol if memory serves you just had some herbs growing and now look at you (both)...How is our Belle these days?
Dianne and Santa Warren, Sending you lots of Armwraps and many prayers. ohh, and Stromy too. Sure hope the meds for both your Guys are successful...You are a true inspiration Dianne. Was very glad to see SW is doing so much better. Keeping fingers crossed he'll be able to come home today.
Susan, Linda kay and Betty!!! OH goodness, sending you some healing armwraps!! Bummer your all sick with the Nasty cold.
Thank heavens Susan you weren't at your desk! big bummer the shelving fell...Hope the fishy is doing ok. lots of luck about the job.
Debbie...So, what you been upta? i hope you are well and just busy.
Crissy, hope you are well and just busy too!!
Barbara, Woah, Not the kind of news you wanted to hear about your Heart. My prayers being said for a solution. I am real glad you won't be doing anything as the docs orders. Wrapping most gentle Armwraps to you.
Betty, wow your flying Geese are just awesome!! Great memories!! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you are home, hope those phones aren't too busy....Oh love the thread catchers!! cool pins fabric, you are too funny, started with 2 and end up with 8!!! LOL, only you Betty. Stained glass is coming out beautiful...NOW, please get some rest to get rid of nasty cold....hope the meds fix you right up.
Well, lots to tell...Been keeping busy, sewing, now on last of the memory quilt....AWE!!! We finally met Baby Brynn yesterday. She looks just like her daddy. omg, she cried just about the whole time we were there. Poor lil thing was starving. So we didn't stay long, just got a few pictures and left so she could be fed...She is just adorable and so tiny! Next time We'll make it so we can stay a bit longer and i will deliver the quilt.
I've taken pictures of the quilt parts and when done will take of finished quilt...i figured out a way to use up the rest of the fabric!! woohoo, got to love when a stroke of imagination strikes..Now to just make it happen, roflol....hmmm, just hope it don't take another 2 weeks! It took me almost three to figure out what to do with those last two blocks. LOL, then just the other day it literally slapped me in the face with the obvious...So now i have the photo disc of Brian so can proceed with the pocket lockets i want to do.
lets see, I was on a cleaning jag since last Wednesday! So cleaned did all the laundry and packed for the weekend.
LOL, left the kids a highly detailed its time to clean your rooms list. And to my delight, they got it done and kep the house fairly clean when we got back...Was wonderful because DH and i cleaned the house top to bottom and did some yard work! yay, some transplants came back very nicely...IDK, planted 4 River Birch trees. 2 are white barked, they survived and are blooming well. The other 2 are red barked...they look like they are struggling, but now i am thinking maybe they are just late bloomers, which i really hope is the case...So well see next time we go up.
When we got back, worked between sewing and yard work on sigh, more laundry and also got a cleaning job on 86th floor of JHC!! The tenant needed help with luggage going out of town, so i rolled a large piece down and out to cab, lol...he gave me $4.00 tip! Whew the place really need a good cleaning...Steve and one of his partners just installed a beautiful custom made cabinet to cover the metal heat/air duct...it's beautiful!
OK, have to go make DH lunch and switch out laundery.
See you in a bit i hope.
As always Judy you've made my day! Been awhile since you came to chat, must say, life didn't slow down any, you are still a ball of fire,
Katie, I'll have to post a project done with bottoms od glass bottles..
Want to post more but no can do.. Every tooth is paining and I have no teeth. Lol. Go figure..guess its the nerve ends.
Remember as a little girl grandpa would tell me same, I'd laugh and laugh, now I know he wasn't joshing!
Judy, so glad to see you posting! You need to slow down and take a break!
Betty, my cold is going on two weeks, and I had several teeth aching, but I believe it was just the pressure from all the congestion and stuff in my head! Please read the boxes of meds, so many are not supposed to be taken if your on blood pressure meds. I have been taking lots of day quil, night quil, and the mucinex D. We have to ask for it from the pharmacy, as it has Pseudoephedrine. But if your sensitive to it, it may keep you awake at night. And lots of hot tea.
((((((((((Betty))))))))))))) never thought of meds interacting badly with BP meds!! sooooo sorry!
What I meant by "lives" is you remember everything that happens to people's lives here..... I can't seem to keep up, but You do......... you have a fabulous memory obviously.....
My fishy is juuuuuust fine, Judy - surprisingly!
Now that Bob's getting this cold, he won't be putting the shelves up any time soon.
We have Movie Night tonight, and it's "The Queen" with Helen Mirren - he's gone to rent it now.
Glad that Movie Night isn't the production for us to put on at the Church that it used to be. We've "trimmed it back" a little and don't have as large a concession, had a TV/VCR instead of a computer/projector/screen to set up. Just roll the TV cart to the front of the church. Heck, we don't even set up chairs in the basement hall - just sit upstairs in the Sanctuary and it's already set up. Good thing, cuz neither of us is feeling "tip top".
When I was at Khols in buffalo a few weeks ago I saw I unit , small, easy to use, great for kids playing their games and for movies..bare wall would look like a movie theatre..almost bought one for the boys, would have needed 2 so didn't..was 1/2 price, think $89 after discount. We've great for what you need. Love old movies.
Left at 3, back at 4:30 and already in nightly and nowhere to go all weekend except couch..pharmacist checked meds, gave me some warning signs, asked how high my bp was last time checked, Said 155 , that is high, told her not as bad as in the 200's
By the time I talked I was gagging and head pounding..too pad and pencil out and wrote questions/ answers, worked well..big sign at garden centre, new stock..wasn't there more than 5 minutes and I bought a gorgeous (to me) froggie for the froggie swap and another phlox, 1/2 the price of the other garden center but didn't have the unusual.
Then to TimbrMart..gave them the dimensions, I had a few questions which were written down, of course the answer to the fiberboard is it needs painting or siding immediately..outcome, extra $400 to have a new kind of panel, finished, no upkeep, went from $8.00 a sheet to $40.00 a sheet but NO upkeep soooo went with that, too old to be doing upkeep..takes about 2 or 3 weeks to form..guess I know what the boys are doing Mothers day, dismantling the metal one..
Now I'm tired, took new meds, felt it right down to my toes..
Perhaps without worrying about the telhone I can drift off to sleep..
Keep Chinese for later
Glad fish is doing ok
yesssssssssss - your boys can be dismantling! Good Mother's Day pressie!
sorry to hear your throat is so sore you can't even talk and your head is soooo pounding!
Drift off to sleep, Betty, and get some well-needed REST!
