Jean - I'd never heard it referred to as Holy Saturday before.......... gee - you just "gave me another bit of info" LOL The hat looks good on you LOL
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? come chat with friends
Jean, that is exactly the "compromise" we agreed on for him to go to his friends. Got him in a sling and ice pack on top. DH and I have both had surgeries on arms/shoulders so we had a supply of slings & ice packs to choose from. YES, it could have been a lot worse. Thank heavens he didn't hit his head for sure. He refuses to wear a helmet, and we have seen 20 plus kids up at the college...not one helmet.
This Chiro is a new thing for me. I have never been before Wednesday. DH has gone for years as have others in the family. With my health situation....surgery gone bad last summer...they are hoping this option can get me back in working order. Monday I call for the Neuro and we go from there.
Betty, everything is open up here on Monday! We had mail delivery today, went to the bank also. Only thing "off" was kids from school.
LOL...I got curious...we have Good Friday and Easter Sunday, just wondered if Saturday had a special name also....and apparently it does.
Mom's Compromise...if ya wanna do what you want, do as I say....it scares me also that they do not wear helmets....nothing harder than a teenager's head...until it meets the sidewalk.
Thanks Susan...this is my hat choice for my new "job" grin
LOL Is that also your Easter Bonnet? Do you have the Easter Bonnet Parade? It used to be a big thing New York I understand (from the movies lol)
I am working Easter, so is Beans (youngest son). Nobody coming. DIL and grand daughter were supposed to come down at the end of the month, but decided it would cost too much :( we are hoping to go up there end of June / beg of July, If I can get vacation time then??? DIL has to be away for something with her job? and soldier has to work, so they want us to come to be with the Kiddo :) sure hope I can get the time off.
Sailor is in new classes, just started yesterday. He will not have any time off for the next 6 months. will be 9 - 10 hour days of classroom, then time for study, and "homework"..
No date set yet.....I am wondering if it may end up being soon after this set of classes are complete????
every time I think of Sue (taynors) I just could cry :( and have a friend at work going through some very bad stuff right now...................other wise all is pretty good...hubs back is doing fantastic!!! he has had a good reduction of amount of pain !!!
It was great to see Judy and Steve, I am Happy my computer is still working.
I have been doing a lot of sewing. Niece is having a baby in May, so I am sewing for her / him...it's a boy :) she is very excited, they have 2 girls. I am making a few quilts, one is all piece work, that top is done. have to do the reverse side. the other one is a panel, has tigger and pooh bear on it, needs to be quilted. I am hoping it will go fast, I am going to stitch around the characters, also making a few burp cloths, and will probably make a changing mat.
found a cute little bag pattern, I want to make for Malena. I will have to sew like crazy to get at least one quilt done for her, if we are going up there in June. I want to make two, she just moved into bunk beds...I am using charms from the swaps we did.
hope y"all are doing well, sleeping sweetly, and dreaming great things
(((((((((((((((((((((((((( ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) many hugs, and much love :)
Sounds like your family is just "chuggin' along" Thunder!
Too back your DIL and GD couldn't come now - $$ has to be a consideration though, right?!
Being with your GD would be great!! In June, eh? Are you going to Betty's RU end of June?
Sailor will be very busy, of course, with new classes - I'm sure he'll enjoy them.
sooooooooo glad your DH's back is doing so well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
keep sewing, keep sewing, keep sewing, Thunder dear LOL I MAY catch up to you - I've been "sewing like a fiend" myself LOL
Morning everyone! Wow, you all have been busy! Susan, good luck with your appointment on Monday!
Betty, did you get your pond filled?
A quick good morning. Feeling a bit sore, but good over all.
DH is in the basement putting new block windows in so I we have a vent for the drying coming Tuesday.
Been busy helping DS, which is OK. Can see the pain in his eyes, which I think hurts more than anything. He can't even open a pill bottle and
or grasp anything at all with the left hand. I know he is hurting as he isn't arguing with me about "SIT and put ice on it now."
The sun is shining, a bit of a nip in the air...and in the house. Probably because that window is out. LOL
Susan, saying prayers for a good result next week. Sending hugs too
Ok, I made a fresh pot of coffee and need to get moving. I have Easter duties to attend too whether I want too or not!
Debbie
Morning all,
Its been a productive morning, already back from town, Easter Bunny treats aren't cheap..wouldn't be bad it it were just for kids but big kids need treats as well..
Yes LindaKay, big pond is done and filled, well almost, maybe another 6"..likely by noon! Lordy, it was cold last night as there was a bit of ice everywhere but where the water spray was falling
Were a few froggies who were not happy with me playing with their habitat but I'm sure they'll feel better now that it's clean
ohhh forgot to say I've Timmies donuts for you all..ok, not quite a dozen but I needed a treat!
Got home and put spaghetti sauce on, not for today but for tomorrow..washed the floors and used javex on the linoleum for decks..didn't quite take some mold off but once dry (not today) I'll retouch and they will be as good as new..that's the benefit of painting them yourself..can always 'fix'
won't leave javex on much longer so will be quick with my posting but will be back to read and post..

Oooooooh Timmies....On my way!
Pictures look great!
Debbie, will take photo's of my birthday pretties next and post!
Are you aching from the workout yesterday?
I'm being cunning!
Started moving the slate from around the small pond, won't overdo..hoping boys see what I'm up to and take over for me..probably a few hours work..just not sure what time they will be arriving..watch, joke will be on me, I will get it done then they will arrive..
Did put my mothers day to do list on the refrigerator though so they know what tools and what to expect..I'll tell them to come on the Saturday so they can be with their family on the Sunday..nothing like being prepared
Love those rugs Betty! So pretty!
Debbie, chiro's are so helpful to get everything re-aligned. I have been seing mine for over 20 years now.
I am quite sore from yesterdays "work out". BUT amazingly am breathing better and sitting better. As I said, he said the entire body is out of whack due to the lower extremity damage from Sept...and upper is over compensating. If we can get the pain out of my hips and lower back, I will be a happy girl.
Good day to you all.
Susan, I thought the hat was right up to Easter Parade standards....grin I think the only Easter parades left are the ones on Sunday morning when the ladies stroll in to church.
Debbie, heart goes out to your DS...and you. Hard for a Mom to see their kids hurt and not be able to make it better. Good thoughts to him for a speedy recovery. Good to hear you are finding some relief with the Chiro.
Betty, glad you got your pond done...the frogs will forgive you, I'm sure...grin
Grandson is home from his Spring break trip....he had a grand time...and I got the dirty clothes to prove it...grin
Sweet day to you all
Jean
My "appointment" won't be until Tuesday because of Easter Monday they'll be closed.
Maybe I should wear an Easter Bonnet to church on Sunday? lol
Go for it. GRIN Hats are making a comeback...you could be a trendsetter, Susan.
Happy Easter, evryone. Lots of people here for Easter week but it's quiet at my home. I either lost or misplaced several hundred dollars while in the midst of angst about neighbor Dana - she doesnot get how critical she is but I'm ready to let go - I think. I'm tired and in a lot of pain. Hard to do anything, even basic housework. No surgery date yet. Am hanging on and in.
hugs, katie
Good thoughts to ya Katie....hopefully you will get word soon on the surgery. Have a sweet Easter and take care of yourself. I do hope your missing money turns up.
Jean - yesterday at the Good Friday Service (at another church) I saw a lady who always wears a hat to church. Makes me think of the 60's when I was a little girl and wore a white boater and gloves to church. I also remember the robin's egg blue coat I wore (with the Princess style high waist). I felt so special in my Easter best!!
Waving to all..just came in, 2nd pond almost done..emptied but couldn't get the koi..drats, he is faster than me sooo took as much gunk out, filter will catch some of it..doubt koi will survive seeing as theater I'm filling the pond with is quite cool...will be so upsetting if I find him doing back float tomorrow..
Can't chat long..busy busy and I haveto wash up, smell awfully swampy..kids have skateto outback into place then done..likely tomorrow morning..
Quick wave, be back in a bit
Betty - your Koi lasted all winter, so expect he'll be ok when you change water - do you dechlorinate it first?
I remember those days also Susan. Easter and Christmas were special as we got a new outfit complete with hat and shiny patent leather shoes...white for Easter, black for Christmas. I stopped wearing hats to church or anywhere else when I started High School...just not fashionable when you are 14...lol
Betty, he may be okay if the water goes in slowly...they survive under the ice, you just need to let him adjust to the changing temperature gradually.
Betty - either that, or mix the cold water with warm to bring to same temp - use a water/food thermometer.
Easiest way is to do what Jean said - gradually add the water.
Here's another thought - put the water outside until it reaches the same temp as your pond (obviously that wouldn't be from the cold hose.......)
Wishing you all a wonderful Easter, celebrating with Family and Friends,
and may the days be filled with happiness, peace and love!!
T&P are with those who are going through hard times right now, may there be many sunshine days ahead of you.
Love and Hugs
Thea
Hello To All !
Hoppy Easter Tomorrow !
Yay Thea glad you dropped in... Do you have any special German candy easter treats/traditions? Susan and Jean - love the bonnet talk... I do remember Mom treating sis and I to our Easter hats...dresses, little gloves...
I'll be in capri's and sandals tomorrow LOL.....
Katie - sure hope you find that $$.... did the pups eat it ? Hope you get surgery soon.
Deb, like LK I also love the chiro.... mine is probably near Jean's house... LOL... in Galvez....
I try to go every 2 weeks and it does help my breathing.
Betty ponds are shaping up nicely. I've been known to pour a gallon jug that we have that catches rain water. Too much faucet water kills fishes here with the chlorine much less the temps. But our pond is not near as nice as yours... it's preformed.
Jean - pretty daylilies.... ours have not bloomed yet. I did have almost 10 Rum Runner Hibiscus blooms today, iris, smiley face hibbies, all but 2 of the other tropical hibbies have buds...glad of that because we put them in the ground last week. cannas about to bloom!
We had gorgeous weather today. I planted Gazanias, gomfrena, caladiums, and those other c word things that go in the shade... LOL can't think of the name. Also played with rocks and flagstone.
I'll pop back in a bit to check on folks. Dianne we've not heard from you today... hope it is because Warren is feeling much better and ya'll have been busy...
(HUGS)
Mary
awwww Debbie, big hugs to you and Shane....no matter how big they get, it still hurts to see them with owies!!!
Katie, hope you get a good sleep and feel much better when you wake up.
Morning everyone! Coffee, bacon and french toast!
Happy Easter everyone!
Oh yum LK!
Happy Easter everyone.
I completely forgot about getting any goodies for DH for Easter. First time in 40 years the Easter Bunny didn't bring dark chocolate to our house. I am positive there are some chocolates hidden away .... I just have to figure out where I hid them.
Gorgeous day yesterday, today well at least this morning doesn't seem as promising. Listened to the Sunrise service on the beach across the lake from us. Very nice!
Hope to BBL
Dianne
Wishing a happy and blessed Easter to all. Hope today is a wonderful one .....
Morning all, Happy Easter everyone!!
sun is already starting to shine, calling for clouds to move in later today but we've had great weather for this long weekend.
Everyone is sleeping so I must ke quiet, need to. Vacuum but will put it off seeing Jeff's Christmas wish to Santa this year is to have his mom. NOT het up at five and start vacuuming and cleaning soooo I'll be a good mom and do nothing at least until I can get outside and do things!
Don't understand with beds to spare why Jeff can't sleep in a bed, has to be on the chersterfield...
Did peek outside and fish is not floating so guess he survived...must get him some friends. Went to turn on hose to continue adding water but hose is frozen..brrrrr
Yes, can remember the patent leather shoes (do they even have them anymore?) new coat/hat and outfit..you would go to church extra early just to watch Easter parade of those coming to services. Then, home we'd go because you had to get out off your Sunday best so you could go on the Easter hunt.
Things have so changed, no hats/bonnets.. Did have Easter hunt up until a few years ago now boys think they are too old but I did hide some bunnies so if they want chocolate they will have to go in search of it. Shake my head, Jeff hid blackberry tablets for the boys, kids today are over spoilt!
Mary, you and hubby sure put a lot of work in your gardens..few photo"s please
Jean, loved the photo's, your gardens are breathtaking..must be nice to walk amongst such Beatty...
Ohh watching neighbors daughters walking the yard with Easter basket in hand in search ig goodies..
Debbie, hope Shane's pain has subsided..is it today you bring him back to Rochester? Will make for a long day..
Dianne, you had so much on your plate I don't know how you remembered its Easter let alne chocolates..am sure Santa Warren will understand. I'm sure somewhere you've a stash, tell him it's an Easter hunt and see if he can guess where they are. Lol. Wonderful that you got to hear some of the early morning services..
Katie, they are sure taking their time with scheduling the operation..ohhh
Sure hope you find the money..pray to St Anthony, patron Saint of lost objects, if it can be found he will lead you to it!
LindaKay, did you deliver the baskets to the young ones?
Thunder, busy family for sure...now if you get that late June vacation and head north to the family keep north to Canadian border! Long hours of study will help put soldier boy in another pay category? When you showed photo of you and Judy I knew right where you were standing..could pictur you orange/grapefruit grove..bet you had a great visit!
Be back in a bit, Sailor wants out and Riley wants in!!
Waving back Barb, Easter greetings to you and your family. Will you be getting together with the family? Hoping this is a day filled with sunshine.
Wishing everyone a wonderful Easter Day!
Debbie
Betty, he goes back tomorrow afternoon.
yes, They came and picked up the baskets, and were so thrilled to get them!
Hugs and prayers to all. Been so busy I can't think straight. Got a perm and didn't last three days YUK!!! Ran out of propane so no Easter dinner but what can you do. My fault. I am losing my mind. BEV
Greg and Jeff just left for Greg's work..jeff got the bright idea that he wanted to make Julie a unit for lifts for her gym, of course Gred said that's easy so off they go, just need to stop for bright pink spray paint. Lol
Boys are stll sleeping..I'll vacuum, wash floors then upside I go to finish the pond, all except the placing of the slabs of stones..did some revamping. I'll be a happy camper when the day is done..hardest of garden work behind me!
LindaKay, you've earned brownie pints with them for sure...how old are they?
Susan, imagine you've a full day with church festivities today..
Then Debbie a relaxing day is in store for you...enjoy your Easter gathering...
Happy Easter Everyone!!
Chiropractic is wonderful, keeps me out of pain, and yes Betty the pressure release is instant, the first chiropractic adjustment is weird and painful but after that it's a piece of cake. I get to where I'm begging to go. Kinda interesting how the body connects to itself and what it does in one area to compensate from an injury or whatever in another area. I've been going my whole life. It's like massaging the joints instead of muscles. Debbie you'll be alright on the next adjustment, and the 3rd will be wonderful. I think the first is so stressful because you don't know what's going to happen.
Susan I have my fingers crossed for you!
Oh Thunder you have been busy! Congrats to your niece, glad it's a boy! I bet dad's glad it's a boy too LOL
Betty glad you got that pond cleaned up, yuk! MMMM Timmies!!!!
Jean so glad grandson had a good time!
((((((((((((Katie)))))))))))) Lordy I hope you find that money, I'm going through a VERY hard time right now dealing with my husband and have lost several important items because of it. Why do we let other people bother us like this?? I hope your pain subsides and you find your money! Yikes!
Poor Shane, he's going to be in a lot of pain for the first week, that first week after breaking a bone just sucks.
Hi Thea!
Dianne usually I get us a chocolate Easter Bunny a piece and this year I didn't even think of it.
Hi everyone else!!!!!
We're not doing anything today, I'm going to transplant some seedlings I have going and wanted to plant my elephant ears and what-not but it's getting windy and supposed to rain. Wish I had tomorrow off to get some of this stuff done, if I was off I would find other things to do anyway lol
Have a wonderful Easter y'all!
Oohhh Bev, can you not hook up to a BBQ tank..yikes, you would think they would have a warning system that pre notifies you when you are nearing the end of propane..
My perms don't seem to last as long either..don't think they are as strong as they used to be..remember the Toni smell?? Did you do it yourself or have it done done ?? If at a hairdresser surely they will do it again..3 days. Wow.. Could it be the meds that react with perm solution?
