***SWEET INTERRUPTIONS***237

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Jaye I don't think there can BE an appropriate time in times like this.

I was amazed when she answered the phone when I called.
I went thru the House Phone and thought Tim would answer and I could get an update and pass on our Love.
So we had a bit of awkward silence the off we went.... ;-)
She talked about her having to call the coroner...... and I told her that's a conversation I never want to have w/ a Friend again in my life.

As for going above and beyond...... I know you Ladies are hurting for her and so if I can help so be it.
No reward or acknowledgment expected.... but it is heartwarming all the same.
It's what Joyce and Sue did for me when my Parents passed, for Robyn when her Sister passed last Fall.
We're just paying it forward.

I don't do the Prayer Request Forum so if someone could........

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Dear friends. We all know the hard times are ahead for Sue Is there any way we can think of to help her? What about funeral expenses? I can't afford a lot but I'd be willing to help with as much as I can. Or flowers? Could we possibly as a group make sure there is something there from us? Any thoughts?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Barb, I would be glad to send you something for her collection, wether it be expenses, flowers... Let me know when to send it.

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Real Quick then I'll fly.

Unless things have changed:
It will be a cremation and no service at this time.
Probably a small private thing at their Home in the future.
A Memory Garden is for sure in the works.
GiGi's Garden.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I like the sound of GiGi's garden!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

In that case, I think our cards are good for now. After a while, when all the hubbub dies down, then we can get together and do something special. A comfort quilt came to mind also....
after all-we are quilters for the most part. And those who don't sew could help with batting or backing. Just thinking out loud here ladies.....

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Barb, the more cards Sue get will be a certain sign of acknowledgement that she's highly thought of and it will be more personal that way.
I had thought of an arrangement, but flowers do die...
So, whatever amount no matter how little sent her way, will be of great help, as Sue is such an appreciative sistah.

Ric, when something like this happens, one is reminded that the world can be cruel. And that's when you need true friends and supportive close knit family. How blessed are we.
Since you brought up prayer request.. our pastor led a prayer service for families of victims of violence today.
As there's another member whose niece was killed yesterday. That niece has a twin sister.
Add that to my request for Sue and her family, and you can hear the gasp.

I'll check the Prayer Request Forum and see whether it's already been posted.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Barb I was thinking of dmailing you the idea of a comfort quilt sorry for the shout... but God has something to do with it!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Here's the prayer request for Sue..

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

You all are so wonderful at this time with wonderful helping hands. Now I know why I couldn't sleep last night, finally at 6 AM I had to lay down then driffted off. My prayers are for her and family. ((((Hugs to all))))

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Every time I come here to post something I read what has been posted and I begin crying, and it makes it hard for me to see what I type. My heart hurts for Sue so much.

I would love to contribute to anything you (whoever is in charge) decide to do (except for making a quilt). I would love to paint a rock for the memory garden.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Cindy, you have such a sensitive heart! For now, it will be individual cards and whatever you wish to give her.

Pegi, you're another softie!! But then, we are all alike, if not we won't be in this crazy group of Sistahs!!!

Later on, we can use whatever skills we have for either her memory garden and/or quilt.
I can put the quilt together if they're QAYG blocks. That is, the blocks are already sandwiched. Unless someone has access to a long arm.

Sue if you're reading this...and wonder why... we're grieving along with you, and doing something constructive will ensure wonderful memories of Jessie.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

(((((((SUE)))))) so sorry for your lose, but be assured she is safe now with the Lord. sending thoughts prayers and hugs out to you and your family

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

I'm sure Sue is blessing every one of us because she's needing us right now.
I'm "in" for a memory quilt. I'm racking my brain for what would be appropriate, but maybe we can start a separate thread for it? Jaye & Barb - are you spearheading this, with QAYG blocks? We need to figure out what the backing shouold be. I can send a pre-quilted block, after all, it would be easier if it's done before we send them, but for those that would prefer not to quilt, hopefully Jaye or Barb can do it?
Let us know please and I'm sure I speak for all when I say "what a lovely idea for our Sistah Sue - she needs comfort now"

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

I will keep you and your family in my prayers. God bless you.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks for the dmail Jaye, just got back from Buffalo and read what you wrote..my heart goes out to Sue and her family..thanks Ric for the update! Please let Sue know she is in my prayers..

How truly overwhelming..what can you even say to offer comfort.

If any of you decide to do something please count me in..I enjoyed meeting Sue at Joyce's..couldn't believe her bubbly personality..what a road she must now travel..

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Sending ((((( HUGS and PRAYERS ))))) to Sue and family.......

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Sue is posting, hit or miss, around the boards on ATP.
So she's still up and at it.
Hopefully she will get some much needed sleep tonight!

I forgot to add earlier that they sat down w/ the Twins and told them what's happening.
They won't be able to escape the media coverage so Tim and Sue got ahead of it.
Tim's Parents, both wonderful people and just down the road from them, are I'm sure helping w/ Savannah and Austin.

Betty good to hear from you.
I will call her tomorrow for sure.
And I guarantee you she will be working on the yard or GH.......
I have a 4 day weekend coming up and we plan to get up to her one day then.
The first order of business will be delivering HUGS.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks Ric..am sure your visit will mean a lot to her and the family. When we met if memory serves me you each spent time helping each other, she sure will need you to lean on..

God bless

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm on early this morning, sitting here still in shock, I've lost a hubby but the loss of a child, can't even think how overwhelming it must be..know we are all praying this morning!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Lizh... thank you for your prayers and welcome to this chat.
I notice you're one of the pioneers of DG. Since 2001, wow!!

Ric, thank you so much for keeping us abreast. It's good that Sue's finding constructive distractions!
Savannah and Austin are truly blessed to have grandparents for angels.
We want to give her GIANT ARMWRAPS as our sistah Judy would say (remember her?). So do that for all of us please.
Thank you Lord for friends like you and Robyn. Our minds can somehow breathe a sigh of relief knowing Sue has you both.

Hey Betty. The shock hasn't fade here neither. No mothers should experience the pain that Sue has. I won't wish that on my worst enemy.

Been having problems trying to get on DG, so here's a late wishing all a good day today!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

dg is having problems here too.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Susan, as for the Comfort Quilt, I've asked Barb to lead us.
But I'll still put them together. It's okay if only blocks are sent, as I can do row by row QAYG and I have plenty of batting and backing marerial.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

ok - I know what I'll be sending - just looking for appropriate colours

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Jaye - check your dmail....

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

As of 12:06 this afternoon Joyce didn't know about Jessie and I missed her call.
Kathy from AL left her a message asking about Sue.
Seems Joyce washed her phone....again.... :-)
I've been trying to get back in touch w/ her and getting voicemail so I'm pretty sure she has called Sue.

I did talk to Savannah for a brief bit around 3PM.
Sue was tied up but Savannah said she was doing pretty good.
Savannah, as you may know, is not a big talker...... ;-)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Joyce would certainly want to be there for Sue..hard when we all live so far away but am Sure Sue knows she can call any of her sisters and they would do what the could..

Ric think you drove a few hours to Joyce's reunion, how far are you from Sue?

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

If she sees this, she can call me - 403-441-5750 (or any of my sistahs, for that matter!)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Sue... I'm so sorry for your loss... I only just found out (Thank you Jaye for the D-mail).
I haven't logged onto DG lately, but had a few minutes to log on and immediately began to cry...
If there's anything, anything at all we can do... you know you just need to ask... we're here for you.

Please count me in on the quilt, of you all do that... I don't quilt, but I want to help if I can.

I had something to say today, but for the life of me, I can't remember what it was.
I will not be able to shake the devastating news anytime soon. But I will check in more often...

God bless the Taynor family.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Cookie did talk to Sue yesterday. She is doing as well as can be wxpected at a time like this. No mother should have to go through this, but Sue I think I know how your feeling. I know my daughter does. My granddaughter would have been 3 today.
Hugs and prayers to you Sue.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sis, how is Sammy doing? Is he home yet?

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

sammy came home friday. his kidneys will never be 100 %, but thats something we have to deal with. biggest issue now is getting him to eat. he know his medicine is in his food, so i have to cook him gourmet meals to get him to eat

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear he is home!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Sis Kathy, make sure you go online and check what you could cook for Sammy with kidney issues.
Some meat protein isn't good.

I'm guilty of not calling Cookie. Made an ass of myself when I assume that maybe she has already been told. Being that Sue's very close to her.
Any important news in the future, I promise I'll let EVERYONE know.
Thanks Sis Kathy.

Dreary day today. Sun's not out.
Think I'll put my head down and sew today.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

yaaaaaaaay Sammy's home - well, I know you'll take care of your fur baby, Kathy!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I don't quilt, or sew anything for that matter, but want to be in on a quilt or whatever!!

Yeah Sammy's home!!!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

well Crissy - wrap yourself in a quilt, and you can "be in on a quilt" lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Bj, sure hope your OK. Looking at the news, and there are bad storms with tornado's over your way. Be careful please?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Listened to the weather, dropping in in hopes those of you getting the storms can post that you are safe...

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Betty - we have a Spring Storm warning coming to Calgary/Red Deer area -

An intense spring storm is developing in the Northwestern United States tonight and will move into Southern Alberta on Wednesday. Precipitation associated with the system will spread into the foothills Wednesday afternoon and then northeastward into Calgary and Red Deer by evening. Precipitation will start as rain and then quickly change over to heavy snow. Heavy snow will continue through Wednesday night. Accumulations of 10 to 25 cm are forecast across the regions. The track of the storm is still uncertain but the higher amounts are expected near and to the west of the qe2 highway. The storm will also produce strong northerly winds which will combine with the falling snow to give near zero visibility at times. This winter storm can produce poor travelling conditions. Persons in or near these areas should be on the lookout for adverse weather conditions and listen for updated warnings.

Yikes! But, rather this, than tornadoes such as they're having in Dallas area......... Leland's wife Laura is in Ft Worth, so that's pretty close, too........
