Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

how bout never ending story? absolutly love that one

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Mornin' all. Loved Dances With Wolves, haven't seen Bridges of Madison County. Not sure how that skipped by me.

Jaye, Glory is a movie I went to with Ross and Charles (son) just to be with them--not interested in the movie---so I thought. I have never been so engaged and yes, exhausted when I came out. You should see if you can get it from Netflex. Not a Madonna fan either but I love the musical so enjoyed the movie.

Kathy, now how could I remember It's A Wonderful Life...ain't that old deary! LOL

It has started out to be another overcast dreary looking day. I am so tired of this--just rain and get it over with!!! Oh wait, that is for Friday.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Got a copy of Gran Torino and I love it LK.
In fact last night I rewatched another Eastwood movie.... Bloodwork. It's a great thriller!
LK, I like Dances with the Wolves, but not Bridges of Madison County. Somehow don't like the ending.

Ok now... since most of my sistahs have attention deficit disorder.. or more likely to go off track... I give up!!!
We'll do a suggest any movie.. any decade.. all genres EXCEPT for those terrible, nauseating horror flicks.
Sigh....that said...

Marion, Love Field is GOOD, if you haven't seen it. Michelle Pfeiffer with Dennis Haybert (I think).

Never seen the Never Ending Story, Sis Kathy and I've never seen The Princess Bride neither. My BFF highly recommended it. A fantasy film too.

I'm not too much of a Star Wars fan, that's why I didn't list it. But would include Lethal Weapons as re-watch too.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Me, me, me attention deficit disorder for sure!!! Princess Bride is wonderful....was Ross' favorite movie. Star Wars? Take it or leave it but mostly watch as Kim really, can I stress REALLY likes it. LOL

Glenview, IL

Good Morning Sistahs all!!

Lots have been happening over here!
Mostly working on the basement, and working the Memory quilt for Brittany's baby...
OMG, spent an entire day working a Triangle butterfly block, needs tweeking but i like how it came out!!

Today, lots of sewing to be done, so i can see what else I want to add, I'd like to finish this quilt so i can begin another for Joyce's new GD....Both babies due in the spring.

OH, got my new drivers license!! Yay I'm legal again.

Sistah, just love your list of movies!! I loved, loved Dances with Wolves, can watch it over and over again!
lests see didn't see Titanic, Ohhh, how about Willow, Fly Away Home...lol to name few off top of my head. Face off!!

DH absolutely LOVES Gran Torino!! And I just watched Bridges of Madison County, I did happen to like it very much, just wished they would have elaborated on the affair affected him as well...(According to the book).

Well, i've got to get some laundry going.
Have a great day everyone!!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

i also like where the red fern grows, and the yearling. they are both tear jerkers

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Marion, Kim and Kelvin should have a Star Wars fest all by themselves, and you and me can take off to the fabric stores, if ever we make it to Florida!!!

Well Sis Kathy, would you believe I haven't seen neither? I've put them down on watch list.

Subscribing to Netflix really pays off when one is a movie buff.
There's this movie that you can catch on Direct TV sometimes. A fantasy, that all ages will like. It's "Howl's Moving Castle".

Sistah Judy, thank you for popping in. You've really taken off with your sewing!! So proud of you.
Now that you're legal, guess we'll just have to make sure to give you half of the road if we're driving in Illinois!! Lol!!!

Reminder: Power Prayer tonight.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hellooooo LADIES!!!!!

I have been MIA from here for awhile. There was so much to read that now that I'm at the end and typing this I for get what I read. Let me think now.

BOO HOOO 49ers lost, Doug was happy...he is a Giants fan. Yes we were both hollering at our teams, lol.

Doug's grandma never did move in with us. His mom thought that she would get lonely not having her with her. So we go over every now and then and sit with Nanny or we bring her here for the weekend so that Mom can have a break. So thennnnnnnnnnnnn the other day Doug's dad comes to talk with us. He wants to get a big house with us and pay me $1200 to be his care taker. He is able to take care of himself but is having a hard time. He has had a heart attack and 2 strokes which left his left side a little useless. Plus he's lonely. He lives with his girlfriend but she suffered a heart attack and is not doing to well herself. Plus I think she gets on his nerves. He is a very stubborn man. So anyhow Doug and I talked it over, weighted the pros and cons, and finally decided that this would be a good time to rent for a year to get our credit ratings higher. Right now they are too low and would make our house payment over $1000. So rent for a year, save for a down payment then we are going to get us a real nice house with a swimming pool. We are going to look for at 3 - 4 bdrm, 2 - 3 bath, 2 story. We figured we will probably end up with all 3 of our parents living with us down the road. Hopefully not all at once, lol OMG!! I
would run away LOL ^_^ With the $1200 that I will get for taking care of Dad, that will go into savings for down payment. But I want to buy now!!! LOL saw some real beauties for under $150,000.
So with that in the future I am thinking of hosting the Sistah's Reunion in 2014,( BUT if there is someone who wants to do it for sure then go ahead.) It's time for the party to come to the West Coast!!!!!

Now speaking of movies.....................Here are some must see's that just came out: Dolphin Tale, have your hankies handy, Real Steel....I didn't think that I would enjoy something like this but I was glued to the TV and am watching it for the 2nd time as I type this, lol

My all time favs: The Notebook, another hankie movie, Pretty Woman, my favorite part is when he opens the box with the necklace and then when they are walking out of the elevator and he tells her she is beautiful and very tall, lol

We had four or five days of rain, now we are in the low 60's, the Sierra's got some snow but it's not going to last long if this warm weather keeps up. CA will have a drought this year for sure if we don't get some more

Everyone please take care of "YOU"

HUGGS ^_^

Yooo Hoooooo!! Hi all my sistahs!!
I done losted ya!!!!!!!! (since Jan 17th, so didn't get to read all posts.....)

Happy Robbie Burns Day!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Wow, aren't we all a bunch of talkers today? And look at mall the strangers popping in! Nice to see everyone.
Judy, make sure you post pics of that quilt your working on? Glad you finally got your DL.
Hey Susan, glad you found us again. How was your dinner?
Cindy, how you guys doing? Sounds like your getting along better, and planning to buy a home?
I love pretty woman too, and lord of the rings is a good series too.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yes Doug and I are doing great!! Doug loves Lord of the Rings, I could never get into it. Took me a long time to finally watch the first Harry Potter. Advatar surprised me, I really enjoyed it. There is just so much to see that it is a movie to watch over and over.

Our Curve's here in Marysville went out of business. Over 400 members, one by one they started losing their jobs and therefore dropped out of Curves. But I am still getting a work out!! Taking two dogs for a walk at the same time, HOLY COW!!! Does my cardio ever get up! LOL They take me for a RUN!!! I told Doug today when I got back home with them that they are too much for me. Amy is very strong and Harlee is getting stronger by having to deal with Amy. So tomorrow it will be me and Harlee then the next day Amy. Amy is still learning to walk on a leash. She like to stop and eat duck poo rather than walk. Harlee loves her walks, her head goes up high, along with her and she prances around the lake or I should say tries too. Amy is always pulling her off course, lol.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Hi LK - gee, I missed y'all!

Our dinner was good - nice to know we can get Haggis from our local grocers lol Fully cooked, just need to "steam heat" it.
Didja check out this site? lol

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That is some story Susan, love that yellow kilt.

Victoria Harbour, ON

quick pop in..waving to all

Jaye, got Netflix on my ipad/laptop/computer/home computer lol and all for $7.95

To pass a boring day here at work I get to watch movies..

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

CIndy, you sound relieved and much happier! God certainly has reasons for you to failed in your house search earlier. Praise Him! I am very happy that there'll be an alternative much better plans and an extra income to boot!! Who wouldn't want that?
With your nursing skills, you'd be much appreciated by FIL.
So.. you really want to host the 2014 Sistahs Reunion???? Thank you Cindy!! There'll be Pegi.. Trisha..her daughter, Laura.. Lizrainey.. they are all on the West Coast, and so much convenient!!!
Thank you Cindy!!!
No one has spoken up for 2014, for sadly I can't do it.

Toddish McWong --- Gung Haggis???? Well then, a "Gung Haggis Fatt Choy" To all!!! Lolol. Thanks Susan.

It's HOT today. I stepped out and noticed my daffodils coming up. I'm ready for Spring but not Summer!!

I gave all my Lord of the Rings dvds to the local library. All Harry Porter movies, except for the last one.
My local library has very limited budget.. like $500 a year :**( Sad ain't it.
You should see it's movie section before we got active in increasing it. Only 3 shelves, four foot long.
So, a couple of years ago.... we agreed to donate whatever we think the kids would enjoy from our collection.
Even all the Harry Porter books.

Anyway sisters, Kel has a very extensive collection of thrillers, dramas and indies, so I'm not short of movie rewatch ideas!! Lol!!

Again, I didn't start on the 80s flicks last night, but watched Robots. Amazing how I've forgotten so many of the scenes! Love Robin Williams in there.
Tonight, I've lined up "The Golden Child". Time to remember Eddie Murphy!!

Oh, good day sistahs!!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Good Morning, All!

I'm still waiting for my friend to send me pics she took at the Robbie Burns dinner, so will post when I have them.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

LOL funny isn't it, Jay? Gung Haggis Fat Choy to you, too LOL
How sweet of you to donate DVDs to your library! I'm sure a lot of people forget they can do this, but I think that's what I've done - forgot. I'd better get some of my books and donate them!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hey Betty!! You got it cheap!!
Netflix here has increased their rates. I used to borrow 3 at a time, and now, had to reduce it to 2. Anyway, this will forced me to watch them all quick instead of taking my time with 3. Great savings of $84 a year.

Victoria Harbour, ON

hmmm your Netflix must be different than ours..no payment necessary and if someone was on all 4 of my electronics we could all watch different movies, no timeline..also has regular t.v. shows so its great!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Must be, Betty.
For additional fee, I could subscribe to unlimited vid streaming, but I don't have high speed!
Yep, big news here when Netflix decided to hike up their rates, taking advantage of BlockBuster close outs. Somehow, it backfired, many subscribers left. Company admitted to their mistake, but still won't return to the old rates.
Netflix is the only place I can get loads of foreign movies.

You need to download the original "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", if you like action flicks.
I'd highly recommend the aesthetic "Babette's Feast". One amazing movie that teaches one, contentment in the most unlikely places!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

CINDY!!!!!! Great to see you!!!!! So glad you and Doug are doing so good!! That's great!! You can bet I'll be at the 2014 Reunion, since I'm from 1 1/2hrs south of there!!!

I'm having a money crisis but I guess we'll overcome it. I can't stop shopping and now that I have come to terms with it Dave is going to need $5000 for a down payment on his new Civic! I just don't make enough to support my shopping habit so I'm going to have to do something about it, either get a weekend job until the saving account is replenished or get a different full time job that pays more. Decisions decisions.... Maybe I need to call a psychic so they can tell me what I need to do. LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

And I want to say that I am shocked, seriously I am, that out of all these movies mentioned no one has mentioned my favorite movie of all time, TOMBSTONE

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Duh! Stupid me and all this time I thought Tombstone was something you put on a grave. LOL That is my blonde comment for the day.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Well it is, but there was a great movie called Tombstone too, took place in the town of Tombstone, AZ

I forgot to add the link

Loved the movie Crissy..think in memory of my hubby I feel I should watch a cowboy show at least once a week! lol

yep its Joy Luck Club.. i thought it had a quilt thingy in it ? i love that movie. wish i could get it on netflex :(
been busy
sorry will catch up soon
bbl

Glenview, IL

Waiving hiya!!

looks like a great Movie marathon going on!! My Dh just loves, loves Tombstone...

MY gosh, yeppers i do enjoy watching all the Harry potter movies...And I really, really love The Lord of the Rings too.
Of course could be just a bit overly sentimental on that one since, "my" company did a beautiful publication of TLR!!
When this movie first came out, We had a debut screening, company wide. It was incredible...LOL, had popcorn, candy and pop too, lol.
And I have a gorgeous leather bound copy of the The Hobbit, also published by our Company....believe it or not, I still have never read either book!!

Well, so here is my Corner creation!! I am actually quite thrilled with how they (4) came out.

Glenview, IL

And here is how it will look around the block.
The space you see in between is going to be a solid Red and then the border around the whole block is to be sold blue.
LOL, I am building this quilt from Center out.
P.S. just have to stitch antenna's to the flat butterflies.

so proud of you Judy..what a work of love!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Beautiful. I hope I can do something small like that one of these days. It is going to be gorgeous...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh Judy those are gorgeous!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Crissy, lower your head gal. I'll whisper this "I was asking for 80s productions" That's why Tombstone wasn't in!!!!
And since I failed to restrict my sistahs attention to stick solely to the 80s... I GIVE UP!!! Might as well join in...
Save, Crissy, save.. if you could avoid not working at another job, it would be better. Extra income might tempt you to shop!!! And that means extra wear and tear on your body and new vehicle.

Betty, have you seen the remake of "True Grit"? That's awesome. How about this for a good western too..."The Missing"? With Tommy Lee Jones and Cate Blanchett?

Marion, why do you think I've been dying my hair. My blonde roots are showing!! Lolol!!

Sue, The Joy Luck Club is available on Netflix. A good Chinese movie you'd enjoy is "Eat, Drink, Man Woman". Netflix available too!

Sistah Judy, there are a lot of fussy cuttings going on. That would intimidate me!! But not you. You hunkered down and keep going on till you're satisfied with the outcome! You are BRAVE!!!!
Some lovely work there. I'm very lucky to have owned your handiwork.
You are indeed very lucky to own a leather bound Hobbit. That would fetch some pretty penny on eBay. Read the book sistah. That's where it all started with Tolkien. I guarantee you won't be bored.
I read Tolkien when I was in school, and now I'm proud to say, my youngest niece is picking up the books, not only watched the Trilogy.

Charleen, you are on your way!!! You'd be the queen of appliques!

LK.. hope all is well with you sistah.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Judy, you have come a long ways gal!! See we all knew you could do this quilting thing--not just do it but shows all up with your talent.

Blonde roots Jaye? Nope, referring to myself with my dumb comment above. Only your hairdresser knows.......and well maybe Kel. LOL

We are on the radar for some bad weather this afternoon and tonight. Guess we will just hunker down and stay alert. Got a tape of last nights Revenge to watch and then maybe Grays....who knows.

Whole wheat/oatmeal pancakes for dinner---Kim's request so I guess I will be a good (?) Mom and do that.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

That's the problem Jaye, once we get that new car in a couple weeks we won't be able to save any money, regardless of my shopping habits, because of the car payment. That's why I need to either somehow get a promotion through the State at my job here or get a different job with a different state agency. I've heard from other state employees that the only way to really advance within the state is to transfer to a different agency, and if that's what I have to do then that's what I have to do, whatever, I'm 12K underpaid where I'm at right now.

OOOHHHHH LOL!!!!! I was a kid in the 80's so I don't remember many good movies like that, unless I've watched them in my adult years, like Fried Green Tomatoes, Hairspray, Nightmare on Elm Street, all of the National Lampoon's vacation movies, uuuuhhhhh.....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am here Jaye, just busy sewing. I made 18 cup blocks for the other room, and am in the process of making a lap quilt for a friend.
Here is the top, I am waiting on the batting to arrive.
The center is a panel, and then strips around it. Pretty easy. The fabric is made by Northcott, called stonehenge. I bought it here...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

ROFLOL that is just to funny LK----I have the same fabric set.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It is so pretty, it comes in different colors too, blue, or pink! Jaye's favorite color!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Quote from abbisgranma :
Blonde roots Jaye? Nope, referring to myself with my dumb comment above. Only your hairdresser knows.......and well maybe Kel. LOL

I was referring to my blonde moments too Marion!! You ain't alone. If you are, then we all must be Einsteins!!
Enjoy your whatchamacallit pancake. If only you have a dog..but then, you're a good mum.
Stay safe please.

Oh Crissy, you really have no choice. I wish you the best.
Kel's on the state payroll and the prison employees haven't had a raise in 4 years. His job title has recently been grouped with the state troopers, so I hope he'd get the same pay as them which is 25% more. Or they'd have to reduce the state troopers pay to match theirs.

LK, I love it!!! Lucky friend, if it's a gift.
You've been busy!! When I see the number of participants in that swap, I don't want to overcommit myself.
TOB and one nut....that's my favorite place to shop. Wonder if they take Joann's gift card!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Notice I'm ignoring the other comment LK?
:P

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

You mean the PINK word? LOL!
