Kathy I'm sorry about the cataract, but they do do that. My mom had them on both eyes and she saw triple of everything, it was scary. She had them removed and had her vision back instantly, and the surgery is easy to recover from. I hope you can get in soon and get it taken care of.
Is Jaye ok???
Sue that is such a great picture!!! Priceless!!
BJ you have her on the right track, I just hope she'll do what she says she'll do. I lost weight by simply eating a banana for breakfast, an Italian Lean Cuisine for lunch, some sort of popcorn for a snack (WalMart sells this Buffalo Wing flavored popcorn already popped in a big bag that is not very hot and has real good flavor) a good dinner (baked chicken, grilled steak, fried pork chops, or whatever meat) with steamed veggies w/ margarine on them, and that's it. I was so hungry the first 2 weeks but then after that I didn't want to eat any more. I also had to learn to eat way way slower, the food lasts longer and it's easier to stay full for a longer period of time.
♥Sweet Interruptions # 233♥
Just too adorable Taynors..both the young lad and dog!!!
Know some of you are trying to come for the gathering late June..I've just been flying high hoping that many more will be able to put their names on the link..
worried though as we are behind you all in the gardens so went back through threads to see if I'd have any flowers to show you..yes, a few, not in full swing but enough for you to enjoy...
Oh, Cuz... I'm so sorry. My mom had them on both eyes too, and also recovered fast with great vision. You'll do fine... but you might not be able to play outside for the first day in the sunlight. I know that will be tough for you.
Sue... I think you should have that picture printed and framed. Agreed, it's priceless.
Crissy... yep, the first step is to get her on a healthy diet. She's so used to processed and fast food. Last night I taught her (yep, had to teach her) how to grill a chicken breast, and steam some baby carrots and broccoli. She had romaine lettuce with a sprinkle of shredded mozzarella, salt & pepper. Said she enjoyed it, and she was full. And, she thanked me for taking an interest in her problems. Guess that meant a lot to me. Then I had to show her how to pack her a healthy lunch for today... she said she had never packed a lunch for herself before. So, she's off to the big city this morning to hit some more retail places, lunch in hand to take a break somewhere. Maybe, just maybe... I got through to her.
The local gym membership is more expensive than I had expected. They don't have regular classes or instructors... you just go in and choose a video, and work out on your own. I just don't think she is motivated enough for that right now. So, I'm rethinking the whole gym thing. We own a bicycle that she can ride here. We live in a safe area for her to get out and walk. AND, I own a video that she can work out at home. So, I think we'll put that on hold for right now.
BJ, is there a Curves close by you? They are good plus have weight management classes. Our's went out of business here :( and the closest one is 23 miles away. I only paid $39 month and had access to it 24/7 4;30 am to 11:30 pm including holidays
Susan, not sure where to find you first...boss took me out for Chinese lunch, Jeff tried to reach me while I was on lunch, just noticed he e-mailed me and it pertains to YOU!!!
His e-mail read:
Just wanted to let you know I sent back that USB key to Susan in Calgary today (just got the USB on Tuesday from Paul)
Will go out in the mail from the office today and would expect her to get over the next few days or early next week. Has full instructions and 2700+ books.
X0X0
Off to a meeting at 1:30, will call later when I get a chance.
So dear friend, keep an eye out in the mail, if you run out of things to read lol let me know and I'll have him do same!!!!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay - I got your post on another thread...... yes, I do "hop about" don't I?!?! But these two worlds of threads (and multi threads at that!!) keep me wondering where I'm AT!!!!
Tell Jeff, a "Hearty thanks" to him for doing this for a friend of yours!!!!!!!!!!
Betty i sure hope to get over there.
i guess if i had a travel buddy ? any offers ?
I lost over 60 bls BJ so if you need any advice let me know. I love Dr.Oz he is a great source for weight managment. I also like the Biggest Looser cook book. They are simple ,easy and not to expensive food's to make great meals !
Trying to quit eating junk food is like trying to quit anything else .IT SUCKS . but it can be done. i struggle with sugar and my wine. I have my momens when i give in and binge.
Is there a weight wachers around you guys ? they are great supports and she may make friends who are doing the same thing.
Sue, thanks. She seems pretty pumped on the diet I have her on... said she hasn't been hungry all day, and loved the foods she's eat today... so, maybe keeping it simple enough for her to do herself, she might stick with it after she leaves here. Heaven knows she's got a lot to loose, and it's going to take time.
The object here is to keep it at a low cost so that she can support it after she goes to work... and keep it going.
If you pick up the current copy of Woman's World at Walmart, it's the Simple Diet on pages 18-19 that we've got her on.
Everything on the diet can be bought at the grocery store, and it's really inexpensive... and I found coupons for some of it.
Basically frozen entrees, protein shakes, low calorie granola bars for snacks... and lots of salad veggies and fruits. I only spent $50, and she has enough to last about 10 days. We counted it all up and today she only had 1025 calories, 22 grams of fat, and 60 grams of protein... which is a good start.
We don't have a Curves Gym out here... she might have access to one when she moves back to the Dallas area so she might choose to do that someday. But for now, I bought a fun Hip Hop DVD fitness workout. We previewed it tonight and actually laughed at ourselves following along with the warm up steps. I promised her that we'd get more coordinated if we keep it up... LOL, I'm going to be so sore in the morning.
She seems hyped today... she actually called me this afternoon to say she already has 2 interviews next week from the applications she filled out this week. She also thanked me for "being interested in her issues"... that seemed to help my feelings a bit... I just hope the change in her attitude sticks around a while.
good morning
Hooray BJ ! i m so happy for you and her. Sending prayers on her journey to a healthy lifestyle. She does have a rough road ahead of her. I m excied for you guys too
well my T is going out on my computer,,, soooo you may see more and more words without a T LOL
last time it did this it was the letter R ? and i had W for a sub. Everyone thought i had a speech impetament LOL ?
lets hope it stays around for a bit longer until i can get a new comp.
Sue, try a new keyboard first, that may fix the problem for about $25.00 instead of a new computer?
Bj, sounds like she is very interested in losing weight and getting a job. At least it sounds like she is not fighting you on these things! Just keep your firm foot down. Does she have a resume typed up? There are lots of job fairs in San Antonio all the time, maybe Dallas or some place closer has something like that? Watch your local news, if they have one they will announce it.
A few things I found with Google search...
http://www.nationalcareerfairs.com/career_fairs/details/TX/Dallas/March/5/2012/
http://www.texasjobfaircalendar.com/list.asp
Oh, maybe you can take it to someone for repairs?
Yes Sue take it in, the plastic on the keyboard may just not be connecting with the thingy that creates the letter, sometimes that happens, and all they have to do is pop the plastic off and pop another one on.
Oh no Sue, she thinks she's pregnant????? She has about much business having a baby as the man in the moon does.
Thank you LK, I'll look into those sites. Yes, there are job fairs going on in and around Dallas too. I'll pass that on.
It took me getting mean to get her kick started... but she seems to be taking it well now. Thank you all for letting me bounce my frustration off you. Your advise has meant volumes to me.
Fridays are not a good day for applying at retail stores, so I am going to take her shopping for dress pants that fit her better than the ones she has now. Going to be hard to find, but I think we can find something.
Sue... my laptop does that sometimes... when it gets crumbs or dust between the keys. I eat at my computer a lot... LOL
Turn off your computer. Unplug it. Open it up flat, then turn it upside down and tap on the bottom to release those particles that will fall out. Then turn it right side up and vacuum the keys with the hose on your vacuum. A trick I learned from Don is to tape a funnel on the end of your hose so that the small end is on the end... then use that little end to get close to the crevices between the keys. I used packing tape to seal it good, so all the suction is at the end of the funnel.
Also, I've learned never to blow crumbs off my keyboard... it just drives them deeper.
I will be gone for the week-end. Leaving in the morning to go to San Antonio for Heather's baby shower. Her due date in 9 March, but with all the contractions she has been having the past week, I don't think she will make it. time will tell. I will be back Monday afternoon sometime.
Have a safe trip LK!! You just never know what the body will do, it can shut those off as fast as it brought them on.
Yep she says she is prego ... i don't honestly think she is ? cuz when she tells me she was two months in Oct. then she would be almost at 5 months ? and i would think one could tell if she was ??? well she is so fat , i can't tell , but with a baby kicking inside of you at the 5 th month going on 6 wellllll.
so i take her on the 10th and guess where she is going ..... TO MY FREAKING DR. !@@$#$@#@# what are the odds ??
he takes medicaid .... uuuuhhhg. I can just imagine what she will start to tell people about me.. it will give her more people to " lets play them with my victim mode " chaos . i hang my head.
can i take her to another dr. ?? sure i could, but she won't go , trust me the argument has already started and i lost already. why you ask ?
cuz if she knows it bothers me, then she will make it a point to go for the jugular vein and squeeze it dry .She will just get one of his ( the boyfriend ) brothers to drive her to the dr anyway, so there you have it. a no win situation. She wins and i get driven crazy 'er. :P
i m no switching Dr. you see there is no other ones in our area. we are very rural. its slim pickens here.
but i will look around for another dr. for me.
i need wine
you need whine? I don't blame you, Sue............. lol
I suspect it would be a "pain in the tuckuss" to build a relationship with another Dr. but there's no way you want to be going to the same Dr, so I see no other option......
(((((((Sue))))))) You need 'em hon!!
Hi Ladies,
Doing my 3-B House swap early this year. I haven't even opened it yet and already have 3 signed up. Wow!, was at Joann's today, saw some nice windchimes, but dang they are pricy BUT they are 30% too ^_^
My dogs are a pair to draw to. Night and day. Harlee is gentle, loving, minds well.....Amy is bull headed, stubborn, will not listen!! Took them for our usual walk, along the levee road and down into an old orchard where I throw the ball for Harlee (Amy doesn't bring it back). We are having a good time, when all of a sudden Amy spotted a jack rabbit. OMG!! Off she goes, I am yelling my head off at her to come back. So I start to take off after her, when all of a sudden Harlee goes running past me, out into the field with Amy. I thought "Oh no" BUT!!! Harlee was actually after Amy. She ran after her and around her got her turned around and come running back to me!!! Man this girl never seems to amaze me. Of course Amy got her butt spanked, but it didn't even faze her the hard headed brat!!!
Harlee is definitely a "herder" lol
awwww good dog Harley ... we almost adopted a choc lab named Marley LOL i still want to but i have to wait until Tim leaves LOLLL
not mch going on here
donated some eggs and they were happy to have them. since i have a dd who doesn't appreciate anything i do for her i don' give them to her.
other then that nothing much going on here
got some snow but it melted in 30 min
kinda a boring day
i m mad at my Dh . we went to get pizza and honestly i hate the kind he gets so why waste a fat calorie on crumby pizza ? did anyone ask me what i wanted for dinner while we were in town ???? ummmmmm noooooope ! grrrrr. i m being passive aggressive to him LOL figure it out stupid !!! ( i scream this in my brain as i give him the look ) ain't no nooky for that cookie tonight ... i dare him. double dog dare him
ok you probly guessed i m on my second glass of wine LOL
Went to your web site, BJ, what beautiful work. Amazing what you can make from recycled items. I'll keep checking in on it.
Thank you Pegi.
Sue... some men just don't think... I can feel your frustration, though.
Yep, Cindy... Harlee is an incredible herder...
Where is everyone today? Superbowl Sunday got everyone in the party mood?
No party mood for me, I'm just not into sports at all. My DH will be watching the game while I keep myself busy........always something to do.
Cindy, I think a lot of insurance companies aren't taking Medical if you have a share of cost. It started this year with Kaiser. I don't know if it is the state or the insurance companies who don't want to be bothered. Either full Medical or none at all. I know my DH had a share of cost and now he only has Medicare. It would cost about $250 a month for a supplement policy and that is something we can't afford now. So far, the only good thing is Medicare does pay for the CPAP for sleep aphnea. I'm so sorry you can't get your implant now,
OMG I LOVE mac and cheese made with Velveeta!
Cindy that sucks about not getting your transplant done. LOL Harlee, what a smart girl!! Better keep an eye on Amy, you don't want her biting anyone.
Afternoon everyone. Went to the baby shower, and it was a great turn out. She got all the gifts she needs and cash to getnthe rest of what she needs for the nursery.
Gonna get some coffee and something to eat.
Sue, sorry got the wrong pizza for you.
How about the game last night!
We don't talk about the game last night!!!!!
WHY I LOVE MOM
Mom and Dad were watching TV when Mom said, 'I'm tired, and it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed'
She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's lunches.
Rinsed out the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning.
She then put some wet clothes in the dryer, put a load of clothes into the washer, ironed a shirt and secured a loose button
She picked up the game pieces left on the table, put the phone back on the charger and put the telephone book into the drawer.
She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry.
She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom. She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out some cash for the field trip, and pulled a text book out from hiding under the chair.
She signed a birthday card for a friend, addressed and stamped the envelope and wrote a quick note for the grocery store. She put both near her purse.
Mom then washed her face with 3 in 1 cleanser, put on her Night solution & age fighting moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth and filed her nails.
Dad called out, 'I thought you were going to bed.'
'I'm on my way,' she said.
She put some water into the dog's dish and brought the cat inside, then made sure the doors were locked and the patio light was on.
She looked in on each of the kids and turned out their bedside lamps and TV's , hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks into the hamper, and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework.
In her own room, she set the alarm; laid out clothing for the next day, straightened up the shoe rack. She added three things to her 6 most important things to do list. She said her prayers, and visualized the accomplishment of her goals.
About that time, Dad turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular. 'I'm going to bed.' He scratched his crotch and farted, and ...without another thought, went to bed.
Anything extraordinary here? Wonder why women live longer...?
CAUSE WE ARE MADE FOR THE LONG HAUL..... (and we can't die sooner, we still have things to do!!!!)
LOL too funny......... and yet, So True!!

Hi Everyone!!
Whew, I've been on the crazy side of busy again!! LOL, Sue, I feel like i was reading about my day!!
But i think i am done enough to chill out. Going to continue my quilt and just relax, maybe get in some reading!
Sigh, got to try and keep house nice and clean until Saturday, It's my b-day and big Bahama mama Bash!! I'm excited to say My Brother johnny and Wife are coming...
Sue, Sending you enormous Arm Wraps girl!! Yikes on DD #1 being prego.
Cindy so good to see you posting!! Glad things are going well for you and Doug. Awe the two pups are so cute. sure sounds like they keep you on your toes.
Big bummer on the hearing implants...
Hey Crissy, Hope you both enjoy the new car!
Happy b-lated birthday Kathy!!
Awe, BJ, I've missed you too, smiling while i wrap these "old" arms around ya! Hope things are working out over your way with the girl staying with you.
We've got a big issue here with one of the friends...I don't know, she is ending up moving to Boston to stay with family. She wants everyone to "take" care of her.
So her last resort is to move, she is not liking it but needs to start with a clean slate...Yep and i will see you at Betty's!!
so, i am still sick...ack wishing this will just go away already!
Sistah Jaye, waiving hello, hope things are going well.
Linda kay, how was the visit with heather? I hope all is going well for her and Baby. Did she embroider the onsies and show you??
So, I'm going to work on some sewing projects these next couple of days. It's so nice, i won't have to feel guilty about working my projects now that basement is in decent order!!
Oh it was Wonderful, wonderful news about Fayes DH!!
It's cold and quite blah outside!
I hope you all have a great day, stay snuggly warm!
Heather is doing OK, she has been having contractions off and on for several weeks. So I think she is getting really close to delivery. No embroidery yet. I am going to try and go back next week, just for a sewing day with her. She wants to learn to quilt, and make a baby quilt.
so glad to hear Heather is doing well. She sure gave & got some scares at the beginning of her pregnancy, didn't she?!
That is good news LK... so glad you had a good time at the shower.
Susan... that is a good one... Moms are incredible, aren't we?
Got some good news and some bad news going on here today.
GOOD NEWS... Step daughter went for an interview this morning... and she got the job. she starts on the 20th. YEAH!!!
She'll be a customer service rep for a phone/cable/internet company. Hey, it's a foot in the door with a good company with benefits. I can't remember the name of the company, but Don checked them out, and likes what he read about them. It's the company that reported a few months ago that they are not sending their tech support overseas anymore... they're hiring American only.
BAD NEWS... I think I have the flu. I feel like &*$&. Today is day 3 of this mess, and I'm really really ready to feel better.
