I think my trips finally caught up with me. That and all the dust I inhaled while cleaning yesterday (That's what I get for cleaning!!!). Anyway, I've been off today. Finally went to bed and slept most of the afternoon. Was awakened by hunger fur babies demanding dinner. I had some cold rice with very little chicken. Luckily, also had a bag of beef bones so they are happy.

Gave Tony a bunch of English cookbooks that I don't use. The kids can use them for pictures (or English lessons) or some may go to the school. Anyway, they are gone from here. My mantra for this is: It's finite.

Doing some laundry and dishes while I'm not awake.

Back to bed soon. Like Betty, I'm not meant to be up now.

Betty I don't want to commute with him, next week his hours are changing to 7am to 3:30pm and I work 8:30am to 5pm anyway. Ha! It's 70* here right now and it stopped raining all afternoon so the freeway was clear but it had started raining again and we're going to get more thunderstorms and downpours all night again so the drive to work in the morning may not happen.

Liz those are cute!!

Katie nice to be cleaning out things, but why is it that as we make the house cleaner we get dirtier? lol

Baton Rouge, LA

Crissy - I'm so glad you and Dave got out to have some fun ! Will you be watching LSU / Arkansas game? That is the game everyone around here is talking about now....

I love seeing ya'lls crafts... you are all so talented...

((HUGS))
Mary

Hi y'all ...
Just checking in

Dianne, how are you and Santa Warren tonight?

Hi Mary, forget about that book ... not impressed afterall. Sorry ...

Hi Betty, how are you going to get better if you keep on keeping on like that! LOL ☺

Debbie, so what about the kitten? Any news?

Katie, hope things improve ...

Linda, that sounds so cute!

Crissy, so sorry about your Mom. She's really been through it lately ...

Ooops, Moses wants out. Will BBL!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Love those slippers Liz!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Betty, I would love a copy of those slippers pattern!!! would be perfect gift for my DIL !!!! I think you have my e-mail, but I will send yo a dmail with it just in case :)

Verona, ON

Love the slippers! Could you share the pattern with us all Betty?

Am looking into a Quilting Bee/Class/Lessons here in the village. A group of ladies meet once a week to quilt and they don't care if you know how to quilt or not. As 1 quilter said to me 'we all love rookies!'. I really need to get out of the house and do something for me. This sounded like a perfect fit - I know some of the ladies already.

Thunder did you sew your whole day off? Have fun doing it?

Judy do you burn some sage either before or during your fire? I use my sage before. I swear it helps me relax a bit and get rid of the negative energy that is present. Does Jake have wrestling practice during the holidays? Does he try to beef up his caloric intake during the wrestling season? Gee I am just full of questions tonight aren't I?

Crissy so glad to read you had a chance to kick back and relax on the weekend.John's food sounded scrumptious!

Mary are you and hubby hosting Thansgiving? I am sure you told us but I can't remember. Mind like a seive right now.

Betty is it a rheumatologist you are going to see? Did your GP take a blood test for rheumatoid arthritis? My goodness you have been in such pain for so long with no answers, it is time a doc gets to the bottom of this.

Santa Warren didn't take his walker out for a spin on Sunday like he wanted to do. It was his call if we went into Kingston and he didn't feel up to going. The Palliative Care doc would have a fit if she knew DH was outside fiddling around on Sat. There were lots of tiny loose ends that needed to be tied up so he was able to do that. All my tools and machines are winterized now, so I am good to go except for my lawnmower which needs a tune up. Can you tell I am anxious in 1 way for Spring to come?

Barb how are you doing? Sewing your little heart out?

Thea any news on an apptment in Kingston?

LK the Santas look great!

Going to try and grab a bit of sleep while I am feeling weary. Watch, I will lay down and my eyes will be like a hoot owl's and no sleep. Happens almost every timeI try to catch a nap.

Make sure you all do something nice for yourselves today ladies!!

I would also love a copy of the slipper pattern. I'll send you my email address.

I'm still up but not for long. I made some chocolate/coconut macaroons and have eaten too many of them. But they are so yummy. I ground the cocoa from cocoa nibs. Sweetened with agave which is probably better than sugar but maybe not by much.

Washed some more dishes and have a quilt soaking to wash tomorrow. Lots more dishes to wash - it's the dogs' fault - all that cooking for them. I have meatloaf for myself in the slow cooker - enough to last me a week or so.

I have a turkey in the freezer but don't know if I'll cook it for Thanksgiving. Probably stick with chicken legs and rice and more housecleaning. I also want to work outside in this nice weather.

See you all tomorrow.

hugs, katie

Katie what is the time difference between us? I am on Eastern Standard time. It is pitch black here by 4:30 pm. Heavens some of the school buses haven't even finished their route by then.

Sounds like you have a plan for Thanksgiving Katie. Here's hoping you will be allowed to follow it. I never understand why people think one cannot spend a holiday on your own.SOmetimes that is just what you need to do.

Sleep well Katie!
Dianne

I'm on mountain time. It's still light here until early evening and it's light by 6:30 or 7.

I've gotten to a point where I enjoy a lot of my time alone. Having Tony here regularly helps a lot. I have things to keep me busy and while I enjoy the company of my friends I'm not big on gossip which is how a lot of people pass their time here.

Working now on house-keeping and gradually moving on to get the house finished. It's a never-ending process but it is nice to get some things DONE. I'm also needing to find ribbons and stuff to spiff up the stuffed animals for Christmas.

You sleep well, too, Diane.

hugs, katie

mulege, Mexico

I guess everybody slept last night. No midnight posters. I slept well and am feeling much better this morning. My arm is sore because when Jennybear gave me a friendly nip under the arm yesterday I reflexively swatted her backhanded and pulled some muscles in my poor right arm.

Tony is here. Soon we'll have another beautiful red sunrise. The sun comes up behind the Sea of Cortez so sunrises are red and beautiful.

I'm sipping my hot water with fresh lemon juice. Haven't had coffee in about a month and I feel better. Still have some other eliminations to do but I'm doing well with no coffee, sugar or wheat. My lemon tree is loaded with fruit - just in time for Christmas. I like to take fruit around to my friends (and friend-to-be) for Christmas. It's what I do when I get the Christmas blues.

Liz, love those slippers...I can just see you flipping around the house wearing them or the beautiful flipflops you make.

Dianne, be on the alert, bad weather heading your way..nice evening we could have freezing rain, think I'll switch the telephones to the house JUST incase..would it be terrible of me to hope for bad weather so I can stay home tomorrow??? lol

Katie, just think how happy you will be when all the major cleaning is behind you..overwhelming sometimes isn't it?

Sent you and Thunder the pattern, hope you can open it up..Dianne, please d-mail me your e-mail address so I can send it to you..not sure what format it came in but it just won't open so must e-mail..

be back in a sec

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG Dianne, Santa Warren must have been exhausted after his outing..should really have taken the walker out though...feels great when all the winterizing is done and you can sit and wait for the snow to fall..think you made it just on time after listening to the weatherman..

Thea, you organized as well with regards to outdoor chores..how is the backholding up..

Debbie, sending out SOS, how are you making out, more feeling?

Would imagine the funeral would have been yesterday for Judy's cousin..she must be so overwhelmed with all that's been going on in her life this past fall..hope she got to do her ritual with the fire..

Good Morning!!

Sleep! Ha! We were in a tornado watch and a couple of warnings, one south of the house and one north of the house, until 2am. Me and Dave were sitting on the couch at about 12:45am and it was flat out pouring, then the power went out, one second later lightning flashed and boomed at the same exact time, then the power came back on, then about a minute later we could smell it. I'm wondering if it could have hit the house but since the house is grounded if it were to hit could it just ground itself out and not do any damage??

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Katie, I was in bed by 1:00, a rare thing for me...but I worked a few early shifts, and it has been crazy busy...I was tired!!

yes, I sewed most of my day off, can not show most as they are for swaps...and I don't yet have photos. and Yes I love it when I can do that !!!

working on a rag quilt.. traded with my sister in law for the flannel..........actually I still owe her some yardage, sorta felt guilty using the fabric !!! but I had fun making this

doing some mug rugs for gifts, and some blocks for trades, working on Christmas Presents...

does anybody have one of those bread machines??? what kind?? do you like it?? we have been thinking of getting one. We used to make most of our bread, stopped when we moved into this house?? we do not have a reliable oven, hope to take care of that shortly after the new year....anyway we are thinking maybe one of those bread things would be good??!!

Liz, like your slippers too :)

Betty house is gorgeous!! we have not done much decorating last few years, think I may just "do it up" this year!!!! hoping to have all my boys here ???!!!! and the GD !!! waiting every day for more news of when My soldier will be home?? latest guess is possibly mid Dec.!!!! we are all getting very excited !! going to go look for the pattern..thanks much :)

Y'all have a great day...

Mary everyone here is waiting for that game too and it's going to be very somber for us because we just lost Tight End #88 last Sunday due to what looks like cardiac arrest, he was a freshman and 19 years old. His main goal in life was to play for the Razorbacks and beat LSU, so now you know who is going to win!

PIIIIIIIIIIG SOOOIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Betty, I did not get any e mail??? did you send it from work?? I looked in my spam folder and did not see it there either :(

off to work

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes, sent it from work at 8:43a.m., just sent it again..please let me know if you received it

Katie, did you get yours? hmmm strange

Love the rag quilt Thunder..got to tell you I'd never, ever, ever lol sit and clip when in full..I know I have the rag cutter but often bring in my blocks to work and clip before putting together..much nicer end result and not hard on the hand.

be right back

This is a quick note as I have to get ready to go.

I am doing "some walking" all alone unassisted, however, it is not a pretty sight. lol Using my hip/knee on the right side for most of the work

I have three appts. today, one for blood work, an ultrasound for vascular and then to that doctor for results.

Paul is on way to pick me up so will post when I get back!

Crissy...be careful woman, good heavens!!!

Debbie

mulege, Mexico

I got the pattern.
.
Betty, are you telling us that you sometimes FINISH the housework? Mine is endless.

kb

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, sending hugs..hoping that all the reports give you something to smile about!

Crissy, isn't it about this time of year you start using your shelter?

Don't blame you for not wanting to co-share a vehicle .. lol if Dave is anything like Roger was, I'd be having driving lessons all the way to work.

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL, Katie, I'm pretty good at keeping up daily..before I come to work everything is usually clean..not spotless but clean..maybe once I no longer have furries that might be the case..my goal is to start doing closets, drawers then I'll be happy!

mulege, Mexico

If we ever finish "building," i.e., finish the walls and floors maybe things will be somewhat permanent and a little easier to take care of. Most everything in the kitchen is still out and on counters while try to decide how to organize. kb P.s. I'm also downsizing some.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Are you just building Katie? Hard to do when you are living inside, I've done that twice and it's a challenge.

Doing some hand sewing on the quilts..Suzanne said what a gift of love, told her the love is all but gone about now...so hoping by next week that I can put in boxes and wrap..some projects seen endless..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL!!! November is tornado season but I don't use the shelter unless a tornado is almost on top of us, then I'm only in it for 10-15 minutes, when it passes you don't need to be in it anymore. Most of the time those clouds move at 50-60mph so they come and go real quick.

Debbie I'm so glad you're walking by yourself!!! YOU be careful and keep going!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, just feel better knowing you have the shelter..has the flooding subsided? How's work, did you ever find out the job description / increase / title change re paperwork you had to sign?

Sitting here with mini heater on, jacket on, nodding off..lol

mulege, Mexico

When I moved here five years ago there were a few cement walls with openings for doors and windows and one rough cement floor. Two days after I moved in we were hit by a hurricane. What a mess. However, the house I moved from was entirely under water so I thanked God for taking care of me and my pets and my fabric collection. We have gradually added windows and doors, roofs, and cement floors. Also better electricity. It's nice to have the basics covered and we now are doing wall covering (over cement block) and other improvements. Of course, we are also putting in and caring for the orchard and other plantings. Then there are the dog and cat rescues and the plumbing emergencies. Always something to do. kb

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I don't know about the floods, I don't keep track unless it closes a road down that I want to take, it would take about 50" of rain in 12 hours to flood my house so I don't worry about it, Let It Rain!

Wow Katie, you are a busy bee! Hurricanes spawn tornadoes and I pass!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Crissy, so glad you had no damage from the lightening last night. That was pretty close for you to smell it after the hit!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I guess I don't have any damage, went to work this morning and it was still raining a little bit so I didn't go out and look. Everything seemed to be normal. I think, well shoot, I can't do that as it's dark by the time I get home from work. I want to look for a spot on the ground or something that the lightening hit. I'm assuming it hit something since the power was knocked out for the length of the strike. Talk about loud, they get shotgun bang loud but that one was really loud!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had friends Crissy that said they were sure they were hit, could smel burning..it wasn't for a few days that they realized it was the ground, there laying underground the old roots were burning, luckily they saw signs and were able to get it out before it worked itself into something..be interesting to see what it hit. Was speaking about the roads you use, only so many detours right?

Katie, you've much work ahead of you but from the sounds of it, you've accomplished much..give you such a great feeling each and everything you do to upgrade..I've still got 2 upper floor windows to replace and I'm done with windows..I've been so good with accomplishing the goals I set for myself January 1st every year..not sure where I went astray this past year..3 things not done and only 6 weeks left.

FINALLY went and got my glasses..they charged me for one of the lenses..I asked why when the glasses were new would the lense fall out. Her excuse, sometimes we are rough without knowing it..then I handed her the lense that Darlene found outside, big deep cut in it..ok, probably walked on it a dozen times, said nope, would cover replacement of the lense because it was a deep cut..took out my wallet and paid, no sense to argue, can't win.

Quiet here last few days, guess you are all out shopping for turkey/groceries and baking (can I have a taste?)

How many of you are travelling and how many are having a gang over?

Suse waving..what have you and Moses been up to?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I only smelled it for a few minutes, and let me tell ya if fire can burn through 3" of pouring rain there's something to be said for that fire! There's no way it's still burning no matter where it is. I don't know if anything was hit, I'm wondering. I didn't hear any debris or anything blow up so that's good.

We're not going anywhere and nor are we having anyone over. Love these holidays like this!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well luckily it didn't do damage at your house.

OMG so you will have 4 days off?? Our Thanksgiving is always on a Monday, wish it was mid week like yours5 more minutes and homeward bound

mulege, Mexico

My knee hurts and I can't find the brace which I had last night. And I have a headache. Whinergram. kb

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yes, 4 well needed and deserved days off, I need a break from here bad!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

It will be just Todd and I this year. Nice and quiet!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sometimes that is nice..will you LindaKay and you Crissy cook a big dinner..someone was saying many of our stores in order to keep us this side of the border are doing black Friday sales..

I'm here Betty - just lurking. Been feeling a bit under the weather. Not a serious thing - just a bad cold. It's enough to slow me down though. I don't see the gastro Doctor until Dec 5. So I'm keeping myself kind of low key until I find out what is going on with me....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Were still cooking a turkey, were going to try and fry one!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

We're baking a turkey and all of the sides!! We do this for Thanksgiving and Christmas, good times!
