(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Happy Thanksgiving. sounds like everyone is busy preparing for dinner. Sending Blessing to all today, and extra ones for our troops!

Glad you like my Santa's. Mary, one would be cute in Mardi Gras colors! I will have to buy more velvet.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American Friends...may you be surrounded by loved ones and people you care about!!

Love and Hugs
Thea

Have a wonderful day everyone

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!

Mary Dirty Rice is Cajun. My shelter is underground, the above ground ones are called safe rooms.

LOL Katie, I always blare the music when I'm cleaning, I didn't know there was any other way to do it! Those darn dogs, taking your brace like that, the nerve of them!

Dave bought a 17# turkey and thought the tag said 12#, so we will have LOTS of leftovers!

Debbie YIKES about the car, and poor Paul, hate it when that happens!

mulege, Mexico

My deer story is from a professor at MSU. He was driving into the outside of a curve when a deer jumped in front of his car and came through the windshield knocking him unconscious. His car drifted into the oncoming lane just as a car was coming around the curve from the other direction. Now, wouldn't than mess up our head? Your driving around the inside of a curve and ,suddenly, right in front of you, is a car with a deer through the windshield. Everyone survived except the poor deer.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, especially the troops.

Last night I dreamed I kissed Ben Affleck. It was nice. In my dreams he's a good kisser. Woke up to fur babies who like to start the morning with a rousing game of Mauling Mom.

Tony is having his mid-morning breakfast while I am waking up.

Debbie, we will dance together.

hugs, katie

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Wishing you all a wonderful day with friends & family, lots of good food!!

The turkey is in the oven, I had help.

Big mistake was when DH went back over to the store and I decided to run the vacuum cleaner by myself. NOT a smart move, but it is done!

Enjoy your day,
Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, turquoise one is my favorite for sure..you've done a great job!!! Barb guess being under the weather you've not attempted more Victorian Santa's!!!

Debbie, you need mamma Betty there to sit you down and slap your fingers..you are not suppose to be doing such things now are you? I WANT TURKEY..sad...maybe I'll get a breast and follow Suse's method of baking..yep might do that for tomorrow, too late today! How terrible for your daughter, 2 claims inside of a few months..hate to think how much her premiums will go up..know they say they don't but they always find a way of increasing them.

OMG Katie, Ben Afflick..too funny ..too bad you were awaken you might have told us what else he was good at..lol

Crissy, 17 lbs..big bird..maybe you should cut in half, cook half today and other half at Christmas..sawsall works well.

Laura, glad you are dining out..only drawback is no leftovers..

Bev, did you get to see Scotty the other day?

Thea, you take it easy, been having major pain so have a mini idea of what you go through each day.

Going back Suse to print your recipes..can't wait to try them..

oooh wreaths just came in..a load of my mind!

As for the breadmaker, love it..only problem I know of with them is you have to be exact with the measurements. I made an error a few weeks ago and bought regular yeast in the bottle, bread didn't turn out..should have checked that it was breadmachine yeast!

Debbie guess hubby wasn't shopping in a local grocery store, otherwise they may have let him have the groceries and go back/pay later.

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, that was two ins. claims within 5 days....not months! Actually with the No-fault...there is a certain policy input with deer struck accidents. Does not usually go up. Now if it was a "her fault" or other car invovled..yes, it would go up.

Our bird is 24lbs...enough to send leftovers home with both girls and some for us a cassarole or two. I already have one planned for tomorrow.

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG Debbie, I'd be worried that things come in 3's...that is about the size of my Thanksgiving bird, however, everyone had hearty appetites and before you knew it there was only leftovers for Greg and I..think he got the better deal of it.

Wonder which restaurants serve hot turkey dinner..you've all got me craving for it

mulege, Mexico

I've had several bread machines and like them. Sometimes I make treats for the dogs. But not until they return my knee brace. I like the book by Langer.

I have another headache. Guess I'm still detoxing.

Another beautiful day here.

I've gotten a bunch of Richard Simmons exercise tapes at Goodwill and I often play them while cleaning.

hugs, katie

Lyndonville, NY

Oh Katie, I love Richard!! My kids think I am nuts, but although he marches to a different drummer sometimes....he is an amazing person. Has done so much for so many.

Going to the couch and elevate

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Love Richard Simmons as well..

Should get my line dancing tapes out..when I was teaching I lost so much weight and easily doing the routines..just takes so much room to do, now if I were to take the 5 tables out of my craft room I'd have the room!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Had perogies for lunch, mouth was drooling for turkey/dressing and pumpkin pie so didn't do justice to my hunger!

Took a quick run down to the bike shop and got Noah a gift card to go with his Joyride150 membership, then off to another bike shop and had them order the typhoonPro Tour saddle bags for Jeff (hopefully they will not be on backorder) that does all the major gifts, now I'm on easy street..

With working from home tomorrow while you all lounge because your tummy is full to the brim from having too much to eat, I thought I'd try and finish some of the quilts I've been making..lordy, for what I pay for adhesive batting here I could have bought tripple at Joann's had I waited till next weekend BUT I'd be a week behind in trying to get them finished up.. anyway going back to Fabricland..the batting was $15.98 a meter and if you had a membership card you got 50% off so bought a membership card..all and all after I bought all I needed it worked out I saved $2.50 by purchasing the membership..shaking my head!!!

Well, think I'll get the cricut out and see if I can get the wording to work

Verona, ON

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hope you all have a wonderful day. I mentioned this on another thread .... in an ideal world we would all be sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner together. Wouldn't that be a blast! As my dear sweet dad used to say he wouldn't be able to get a word in edge ways.

You have no idea how thankful I am to have found you ladies. You mean so much to me!
Dianne

Baton Rouge, LA

Happy Thanksgiving To All ! I am so very Thankful to have you ladies in my life ((HUGS))

That is a beautiful Thought Dianne... and I almost feel that we are that close on here.... Betty - now that I am working on being a Pumpkin Pie Pro... I'll have to make you one when you visit....
Katie - you tell those pups to return your brace ! I will dance with you and Deb any day.. You sound so happy and that makes me happy....
Deb I'm glad those deer accidents don't go towards higher insurance. I mean they should understand that is out of ones' control. Would love a good Turkey casserole recipe... or even better... a good Turkey Carcass Soup recipe ! still plan to bake one....

Crissy - my dear I know dirty rice is Cajun LOL....will have to go read my comment again ((HUGS)) Katie - tell Ben Affleck to send Matt Damon my way, aren't they friends? LOL....

Hugs,
Mary

Evening everyone! FInally got a chance to sit down in front of the computer instead of getting quick glances.By now you all are probably full to your eyebrows! Gotta love that turkey and stuffing! Leftovers are often the best part of the turket. I make a Turkey Pie and a delcious Turkey Chowder with some of the left overs.

LK you can mail your Christmas Exchange out any time you want. If you want your partner to hold off on opening it until later , as in closer to Dec.25 if you DMail me I can then Dmail your partner with your open date. I know if I get something I want to rip right into it. Still a kid at heart!

Betty I said exactly the same thing today to Santa Warren - a month today is Christmas Eve Day. I moved all of the Christmas things in from the shed so am going to be ready to decorate once December rolls around.

Not sure I did the right thing today and it was a selfish gift in 1 way but I bought Santa Warren a laptop with a cordless mouse as I know he would have problems with the touchpad. He is always asking me to look things up for him and I think it would do him a world of good to do his own looking. Now he can do it from the comfort of his recliner or the bed. He needs somthing to help fill his day other than reading.

Safe travels tomorrow Betty. Do you have a set of ear plugs?lol I know that is a terrible thing to say but I swear if I had thought of it when my mam was still alive I would have used them.

Make sure you all do something nice for yourself tomorrow.
Dianne

Morning all, coffee is on so p,ease pass around your left over sweets!!

Bet some will be sleeping in after an exhausting day..holidays bring back so many memories and often bring you close to tears...do hooe they were few and far between.

Working from home today, didn't have to get up as early but Mike, Darlene's hubby will be dropping off our Christmas blocks now that they have been drilled. Darlene said likely around 5am and I did not want him arriving to a house with no lights on, besides just think how much I can accomplish rising this early.

Kyle was here last night gabbing so I didn't get a lot accomplished..worth it though to enjoy his visits.

Dianne, not a selfish gift at all, am sure Santa Warren will be thrilled..you will give it to him early, like today?? as for taking mom to Buffalo, will be next weekend..wouldn't dare brave Black Friday or the masses travelling! I'm a glutton for punishment but that is far belong my level of energy.

Are any of you shopping today?

Am hoping to find a box so I can set my buddy's Christmas box filled and posted..I'm like you Dianne, not so sure I could be patient enough to wait until Christmas...

Best I get a move on, but will be back during breaks

I have to work :( but I would rather be doing that, than shopping!!!! I do not like to shop, and I think people are nuts to get out there in the "craziness" sales started last night at 10 pm around here, so hopefully it won't be too crazy ;)

Dianne, great gift for Warren, if he will actually have the computer on his lap, you may want to get him one of those "cooling mats/pads" hubs has one and it is great!!

Y'all have a great day Betty don't over do !!!

Verona, ON

Where would I get such an animal Thunder? WM??? Betcha you are going to have a great lunch today!

I was wondering when I read that you were taking your DM Betty and I thought surely Betty will not inflict such chaos on herself as well as having your DM to cope with.

Need to get DH up and showered, he sees our GP today and then the Palliative Care doc on Monday. If he has the energy we will strike out for Kingston today to get him some jeans that fit!

Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, think even Walmart wood have the coolant pads, if you go to Kingston do you have an xs cargo, very reasonable there..barring that, any computer shop but you will pay more!

Thunder, don't envy you working today on Black Friday..nope, you'll be home looking for a place to set your feet up..long shift?

Darlene called a few minutes ago, said that Mike didn't come early because she decided late last night to venture into town so would drop them off herself

Was ok getting up early, had a fire to rid myself of garbage, even stood out and enjoyed for a bit..thought of you Judy! Hope things are ok for you?
Off for cereal and another coffee

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

hope all my 'merican friends had a terrific Thanksgiving!

Horrors - we're starting to have Black Friday here, in Canada!!!!

My deer story is about my boss - the accident he had on Sunday nov 6th - didn't involve a deer for reason, but he had been hunting and had the deer in the back seat. When he hit "black ice" and almost skidded into an 18-wheeler, he headed for the ditch. An antler gouged him in the elbow and he had to have stitches (as well as his head and hand from the accident itself). He returns to work today, so I'll get to talk to him.

At work today we're having a Potluck, and I'm taking a "Soup Bar". I made a base of chicken soup and stewed tomatoes with seasoning, and have side dishes of bacon bits, sour cream, veggies, corn, chicken bits, and pasta, so they can add whatever they want to the base. Hope they like it!

I'm fighting bronchitis.......

We have Movie Night at the Church tonight - A Walk To Remember, with Peter Coyote, Mandy Moore, and someone else.........

Well time to go to get ready to work...........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Have you been to the doctors Susan, you are the first to get us to go. your soup tasty and healthy..

Morning everyone. Thanks for the coffee Betty! I have apple and pecan pie for any that wants a slice!
Dianne, I think Santa Warren would love the laptop to work with! I know reading gets old after awhile, as does staying in bed or the recliner.
Well, I have one more red Victorian Santa to make, and I think I am done. I need to go and find different colors of velvet for a few more. Does anyone have a link for an online store that carries velvet?
I am also putting together all the blocks from our Christmas block swaps. I think it will turn out nice. I will post pictures once I get the top together. It will be about 7' X 7'. I think that will be big enough for a queen bed?

Susan, sure hope you get rid of that nasty cold soon!

Well, I am off to the sewing machine. See you all later.

No, in the morning I have to take Sailor get her nails cut, then a perm for me then will see what i can do

mulege, Mexico

I love the Santas. All beautiful.

Tried to wash a bottle with noticing the rim was chipped and ripped a big chunk of skin/flesh from between the middle fingers of my right hand. Neighbor Dana, all dressed up to go out for Thanksgiving dinner, cinfirmed I didn't need to go to the clinic and bandaged it for me. I went to bed about two hours later - 7pm - and slept for twelve hours. Think I was in shock.

My right arm is much better. Betty, how is yours? I'm wondering if it's a weird virus. Glad to be much better.

Lots of slow rain last night. Just wonderful here in the desert. Every so often I cam helf-awake and smiled to hear it. Rain without a hurricane is rare and much appreciated.

Neighbor Dana also told me, with concern, that the American Tony works for in the afternoon is pauing him $10 an hour. Dana knows I don't pay him that much and was concerned he might come to me wanting a raise or something. My respose: "That's wonderful." Today I told Tony about the conversation and how happy I am that the other woman is able to pay him so well as I know what it means to his family. I told him that when I'm rich (ha!) I'll pay him that much, meanwhile he gets lots of fresh orange juice. "And lots of stuff," he added.

When he first worked for me, I paid him better than he had been paid by others, but still not a lot. I used to give him almost unlimited time off when he was offered better-paying jobs by Americans. He has year-round income from me, plus other perks, so he is happy with me, as I am with him.

Dana toured my garden yesterday afternoon and went home with a couple of tangerines, a lemon and a huge red grapefruit. They have gotten a few papayas off a tree I gave her but otherwise don't have any fruit trees. The work on my house has gone more slowly than hers but I have an orchard with lots of fruit. And Malabar spinach, which forms an arbor over one of my little gates. Dana also thanked me for all I've done for them. She was busy cutting up some of the wood from the tree we had cut back. They have a little outdoor fireplace and the wood is perfect for it. There is a lot so it was no problem sharing. She seems much more grateful for me this year and is expressing it a lot. I'm glad I held off on commenting on her previous sarcasm and ridicule which were often just not funny. I even got her husband Tom to laugh a few times yesterday. He tends to be terminally serious. Getting along well with neighbors is a huge blessing.

Still no brace. Darn dogs.

hugs, katie

omg Debbie, LOL, you fed them well! Bet you are extremely tired today! Didn't overdo did you? Does Paul have to work today..most of you get a full 4 days right?

Glad Katie, that your visit went well..you are right, it's a lot better being friends with neighbors than not! Glad Tony the gardener is satisfied..he's right, you are more like family than business acquaintances..can't charge for that!

As for my arm, I've been working on the quilts since early morning, time to set them aside for a bit, arm much too painful so a break is in order..maybe I'll vacuum and wash the floors upstairs . Telephones are quiet this morning and that's ok..my client system is down, think perhaps its due to Paul moving into the new Toronto office, Bell Canada is doing phones, likely that's the cause.

Drats, mom just called, talked about her illness for 20 minutes, I KEPT telling her about all my joints paining, almost unbearable but she just continued with her woes..she says we'll wait until Thursday before booking hotel just incase she is not well enough..her sister Muriel is not sure she'll come with us..did not tell her that if either of them don't go I'll go anyway, need fabrics from Joann's and need to post my Christmas boxes and our craft boxes.

off to get something done..

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, Paul had to go into work. Don't mind at all, holiday pay. He is fighting a cold though but he said "I am going".

The turkey wasn't on a platter yet....but it looked so good!

I did all the cooking except mashed taters (DH did) and pies compliments of Carrie & Jeanna. Thankfully Carrie sent me out of the kitchen for cleanup after I almost fell over the dog.

Hello everyone
So good to read that everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!

LOL Debbie I soooo had to laugh about how your cat is all stretched out!! And of course the picture of your SIL is priceless. Hmmmm maybe I should eat every night a plate of turkey dinner so I could sleep through the night!! OMG I could just imagine how I would “balloon” from all that eating…lol

Suse thank you so much for the recipe, it sure looks and sounds yummy!!! I saved it and will definite try it…would it also work with fresh strawberries? Or maybe Raspberries!! The recipe calls for “strawberry flavored gelatin” is that the Jello Packages or the “knox” flavoured kind?

LK those Santas look beautiful!! Whoever is the receiver of those sure will treasure them for years to come!!

Dianne that would have been so nice to have all our friends together to celebrate TG with them!! We all can dream!! I am sure Warren will just love the laptop…also he will be flexible to use it where ever he is comfortable! Wishing you both a great day at the Doctors and hopefully you both will be up to do a little shopping. Big hugs.

Betty those candle holders look awesome!! Can`t wait to have it all set and displayed in my home.

Katie that injury sounds nasty!! Make sure you keep putting on “polysporin” or some antiseptic so it can`t get infected!! Hope it heals fast.

Well I am sitting here and try to heat up my home with 2 electric heaters…lol…Needless to say it is COLD…about 19C/66F. Where are the darn hotflashes when you need them!!! We had yesterday the furnace guy here to do a routine maintenance on the furnace and air-exchanger. Uhmmm turned out that the furnace was not proper venting outside because of some cracked parts and the air-exchanger was a bust too!!! Soooooooooo furnace got red taped, we are not to use it and we have to get both a new furnace and a new air-exchanger!!! So until Tuesday when they install the new stuff we have to use those spaceheaters!! YAY…and since there are new regulations from the government they have to do more ductwork and move the waterheater and furnace to a different location!! Soooooo all the money we had saved up for our bathroom renovations will go to that…9000$!! *sigh* Could be worse…lol
Well better get going, you all have a wonderful day and talk to you later.
Hugs, love and prayer to all that need it.
Thea

Lyndonville, NY

Thea, I have made that recipe for years. It is the jello brand. I have 3 versions I make, the strawberry, the raspberry and the new favorite...is a mixed berry with the "blue" jello. The kids love it all.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

OMG Debbie...that Turkey looks soooooo Yummy!! LOL I am litterly drooling here.

Thanks for the info debbie, I am sure looking forward to try that recipe.

Betty...your DM sure is a handful isn`t she!! I gave up a long time ago trying to tell certain people of my pains...some ignore it...and some end up telling you for 2 hours how much worse of they are then you and what illnesses they have...lol

Hugssssss and I am off to get poked with the little needles!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thea, I would get a 2nd opinion on the furnace and air conditioner! That seems like a lot of money!
Debbie, love the pictures of the kitty and Andy passed out!

Katie, sure hope you find your brace soon! And bless you for helping out so many people in your area! I know they really appreciate all the donations you give them and all the kids.

Lyndonville, NY

Dont tell on me....but I am wishing windows! Don't panic, inside and on porch...where they are low. I just couldn't take "not seeing the world" anymore. Had to laugh at all the nose prints from the furbabies. I remember when it used to be little fingerprints from the kids.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sunshine day here, my windows could use a cleaning, want to cross the border Debbie?
Hate windows, I do a terrible job, come spring I'll hire window washers...when I do them they look worse after I do them. Sounds as though some of your energy is returning Debbie..does my heart good to see you on a roll...turkey sure looked great.

In the a.m. When I get to Walmart I'll pick a stuffed turkey roll and have a mini thanksgiving tomorrow and Sunday! They are not half bad, solid meat.

Just make a potato soup and realize I've no bread..can't go get any Neil my shift is over at 3pm..drats, maybe I can see who is going into the variety store that I know and have them get me one..done that before.lol

Oops be back in a sec

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Helloooooooooo where is everyone??
I bet you are all enjoying the leftover Turkey dinner...yummyyyyyyyyy.

Betty...that is oneeeeeee long second that you posted at 1.36pm...LOL...hope your potato soup turned out great.

LK...we did the research online on the furnace and air-exchanger (not an AC) before we committed ourselves...and the prices are very comparable.
It is a high efficiency gas Furnace and comes with an extra filter for allergies (DH and kids suffer from them) and the air-exchanger we need here for humidity control and air quality (once again for allergies), plus all the extra duct work and a ton of taxes makes it this high price.

Wishing you all a great evening
Hugs and Love Thea
