Betty please stay put there is no need to drive to work.
Work from home and stay off the roads.

Lyndonville, NY

(((((((((Judy)))))))) So very very sorry for your families loss. You have had to deal with so much loss and tragedy this year, I will light a candle today for your strength and peace. I can't do a bon fire or I would!

The roast turned out very well, DH and DS had two plates. Shannon grabbed some and "ran" heading to the boyfriends house.

DH said there was a dusting of snow in the car this morning and ice in the parking lot at work, but I haven't seen snow yet here.

Carrie is getting her wisdom teeth out right now.....wish I could be there. Doesn't matter how old they are...mom still needs to be there and worries.

Bev, I hope you have a nice visit with Scotty. Does he still give the nurses such a hard time? Travels safe....lots of hugs.

Shirley, how are you doing, I know you are so busy helping everyone....but you are missed.

Thea, Thunder, Barb....waving and sending hugs.

Susan & Suse.....waving hello to you all also. Moses...sending skritches!

Needing coffee....very badly!

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Did stay home, still in my nighty and not planning to get dressed..should put some curls in the hair though.

Hope all goes well for Carrie, had all my teeth out at very early age and those came out later and created havoc..major deal and yikes,eye and wisdom teeth hurt more than than the rest..yep, always a mom regardless of their age. Glad the storm missed you.

Too funny, last night I asked Kyle how Noah's foot was healing, he said depends when you ask him, if it's to do some chores, hurts like the dickens, when for play, no pain at all. Lol.

mulege, Mexico

Big arm wraps for Judy. Hang on and let others support you while you are being strong for those who need it.

Betty, stay home. No discussion. I've been using a heating pad on my shoulder at night and I think it is helping.

I'm in my flannel nightgown; a sure sign that our winter weather is here. Don't think we'll get snow, though.

Debbie, great news about your progress. I'm doing a happy dance for you.

Got a headache and some stomach thing going on. Must adjust diet some. Don't worry, Betty, it will be a while before I need to worry about loding "too much" weight. Glad to be walking better with twenty pounds gone.

Off for my hot water with fresh lemon juice. (I'd rather have coffee.)

hugs, katie

Glenview, IL

Good Morning

Thank you all so very much for the Arm Wraps, I felt each and everyone...what a night, Jacob got a fire going for me and he and his buddy Jerry gave me such wonderful hugs. I had a really hard time understanding what all Marie was saying. My goodness, I know she was so distraught over there not being a fire going, and no drum...I guess the kids are not following the traditional ways, and they are not taking Marie's advise on how to get things worked out, lol she said she is taking over today! Sounded to me like she was alone at the house, which upsets me that no one be there with her...So I think we are heading up tomorrow, have no idea where we are staying...lol possibly with Bo.
Here is my fear, Every time we attend a funeral, someone (a few cuz's) starts big trouble with my DH. David was one of the few that "accepted" Steve, We were great friends from the start of going up. I don't know, maybe with the last one, the blow will be over and we can just pay our respects with out incident.
It always is afterward when alcohol is involved, so we'll not be attending any after gatherings...LOL, going to hit the Casino instead!!

Diane, yes David has three boys, all young adults, and a few grands... OMG, Please tell Santa Warren what fun I am having. Started working on my gift the other day!!

My goodness Betty, I sure hope your feeling better. I was sick yesterday too. The flu? is going around slow but sure, but I think mine was something I ate!

Bev, so good to see you!! sorry you've been sick with bad cold...Scotty will be glad to see you!! Beautiful night shot, gives the lilies a very different perspective!
Awe, I think whoever your gift is for will be received with much love, it's from you after all!! eyebrow raise, is it me??? LOL.

brb, computer acting funny, going to try rebooting!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow, sunshine beaming in front window, can barely see the keyboard! Some blowing going on, imagine suppose to rain tomorrow so there goes the snow for this week.

Judy, hardest.art is being so far away, feeling helpless. Jacob is a fine young man, sensitive and heart of gold..glad you were able to have the fire..more hugs and prayers on their way.

Suzanne just called, my MIL rushed to hospital last night..in intensive care..pneumonia and fluid around the lungs. Always something!

I would imagine Katie with all the changes in your life, ridding of toxins it will take your body some time to adjuslindakay, have fun shopping

Barb, haven't seen you post in a few days, you ok

Think I'll get some dusting done i, surely I can do that.

Judy - fire here tonight, will keep you close to my heart. I so need this fire!

Bitterly cold here this am. I went out to move wood closer to the house and darn near froze.Like you Betty the sun is starting to shine brightly but the sky all around us is grey.

Roast sounded wonderful Debbie. I love the crockpot. In fact I love doing things in the crockpot so much I have 3 of different sizes.lol

Betty I am so glad you stayed home today. When I taught I rarely took a sick day. Guess I didn't want them to find out they could run the show without me. One time when I had bronchitis DH said me to 'take some sick days. You know they will only take the second hand off of your retirement gold watch if you do.' Sure made me stop and think.

Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Lol, isn't that the truth though Dianne, if something major stopped us from working, the world wouldn't skip a beat! Not losing sick days as I'm working from home..might have gotten 5 call so far, doubtful I our next 2 hrs of work shift will I get bust..never busy on Fridays..did an entire of dusting and cleaning in the living room, everythink Chrystal clear as I did a load f candle holders,plates etc. even washed the florals, amazing how much dust the have.

So tempted to go outside Nd bring in some totes but will wait until Sunday. Darlene called to say that because of the drilling the 3holes in the christmas piece (total of 40) and having to use my right hand that I was not to do so, she will pick them up tomorrow and she and Mike will do it for me..nice to have such friends..
Now back on the couch, feet up ..might even take a nap...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, when do you go back to the Dr for your arm?
Sorry to hear about your MIL not feeling well. Sending prayers.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Still waiting for appt date..long process

How did you make out?

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I/m okay Betty.
Sending big armwraps Judy and keeping you and all your family in my prayers.
Not feeling the best but I'm lurking!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sending armwraps and prayers your way Barb...special hug for Norm!

Melanie (DIL) and Cathy were here for a few hours..omg she has been sewing, went to a specialty fabric mill about 2. 1/2 hrs away and found the nicest fabric and made aprons for her friends for Xmas..too adorable.

Think she has decided to come to Markham and Ganz to or row..a treat for me as she is usually alway busy.

Off for bath and maybe sit and do some hand sewing myself..

Verona, ON

Will be interested to hear how Markham was Betty. The last year I did it there wereso many offshore items those of us that were true artisans did not have a chance. That was right when One of a Kind got sticky about doing a show within so many miles of Toronto within 30 days that giving up Markham was not hard.Not sure if Debbie sold it out or not. After she and her DH split she worked hard to bring it back to the original high quality show but I know she was having immense problems keeping it going. Will be interested is reading who the management is for the show.

OOAK steup is this coming week with opening day Nov 24. Are you going down to it Betty? Over 700 booths - hard pressed to see them all.

Did you have your fire Judy? Sure hope so - I felt much calmer after I had mine.

(((Barb))) Are you sewing your little heart out Barb?

~~~~~~ to everyone!
Dianne
Victoria Harbour, ON
Morning all..coffee is on, sorry no baking but I do have one 2 day old muffin, any takers?
Dianne its been about 5 or 6 years since I've been so it will be interesting to see how it's farred..how many years has it been since you had a booth?? You know I've never been to OOAK..should check when it is and see if I can make a day in the city..always at this time of year I've so much to do that I just can't make it. Aftermarket plays a big part in these shows, as you say, how can anyone compete.
Looks cold outside. Brrrrr
Leaving here at 7:15 to pick up out wood, had company lpand didn't make it yesterday..figure I'll be some by 8:15' head to Barrie and be in Markham by 10am..because we are doing both the craft show and shopping at Ganz we will only spend 3 hrs at the show
Off and running
OH Bev, those are so pretty....look like a painting. Glad you are waiting to see Scotty and you feel better. Do not need you getting worse....or Mr. Scotty getting sick. Glad he can talk on phone at least.
Betty, have a wonderful day...don't over do it missy!
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
Betty - take good care of yourself while you wait for the Dr app't
yummmmm Roast beef sounds good - had some the other day, and did the whole "dinner" - went to the "Wholesale Club" and bought about 5 lbs of cooked, thinly sliced roast beef and have roast beef & gravy dinners, plus good for piled on sandwiches :-)
Bev - so jealous of those Beautiful flowers - my goodness they cheer me up on this snowy day! Very cold today, so while Bob's out getting my lug nuts tightened after getting new tires on, I'm home cleaning, and sewing, etc.
I've finished buying for the Christmas Swap I'm in, so need to wrap each individually (and put some rum fruit cake in, too!) and send it tomorrow!
Also need to do 2 squares for the Winter Wonderland quilt block group I'm in. Have the patterns and materials - need to cut and piece together! Then do some embroidery on them for the "picture" look.
So glad when weekends come! lol
Betty - too funny on the "pivot tables" being multi-purpose physical tables. How did you propose I fit those into my work day/life? LOL You make me chuckle.......
mulege, Mexico
Not quite noon and I've finished two chores which have been awaiting my attention for far too long. First, Tony and I finished brownbagging the west wall of my bedroom. This means I can organize the shelves and get stuff put away almost permanently. When I decide to do a floor covering of the cement I will have to revisit this area but I'm set until then.
Then I wrote to my friend who owes me money and reviewed for him the number of unanswered emails I have sent him and the contradictory emals that he has sent me regarding the money I gave him for reparis on the truck I was going to buy from him. I hope he will wake up and return my money. If not, he can try to explain his behavior to a judge. I think he has been trying to set up keeping my money without ever selling me the truck but he got too cute. And that "cute" stuff really ticks me off.
Ii'm really tired now. Both those tasks have been looming for far too long. I'm going to rest a bit and then hope to work outside as it is a lovely sunny t-shirt and shorts day here.
I think the arm thing is a virus. Tony has it now.
hugs, katie
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
Good for you, Katie - settling the "hash" of the "friend" who owes you money will be a Free-ing task, I'm sure!!
mulege, Mexico
Feels like I've lost another twenty pounds!!! kb
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Katie, how are you losing weight?
mulege, Mexico
I started reading about the Fat Flush Plan. Most of it is fairly familiar but the writer pulls things together in a way that makes sense. First I gave up coffee. That was maybe the hardest but I knew it was part of the problem for me even though I was only having two cups a day. Now I have hot water with fresh lemon juice. I miss the coffee some but I can tell it's making a difference. I was in so much pain that I had trouble moving and getting anything done. I've also cut out white flour, sugar and rice. There are so many alternatives available today that that can be done without a lot of hassle. I'm using a lot of quinoa. I got the Fat Flush Cookbook at Goodwill and the Fat Flush Plan book on eBay. There is also a website. I've a way to go but so far I'm not feeling deprived - at least not enough to start back on coffee.
I haven't completely gotten into the Plan but I'm getting there. I'm still detoxing and have a nasty headache today. I'm just so sick and tired and feeling sick and tired that I have some motivation to stick to changes that are clearly helping.
Thanks for asking. Talking about it here may help me to keep from backsliding.
kb
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
I have never heard of it, but will have to look it up!
Hi y'all!
I'm so sorry for being MIA again. I just don't know where in the world the time goes.
Judy, I too am sending you armwraps. I'm sorry they're late, but they're big ones!
Betty and Barb, I'm thinking you need some gentle ones, also! {{{ }}} Consider it done! ☺
Katie, I've never heard of that either. I could stick to most of it, but I'm afraid I couldn't give up my coffee. I just gotta have that! I agree about the Quinoa ... love the stuff!!
As for the grits, I'm a southerner, but didn't learn to like them until just a few years ago. I like them if you cook them in the crock pot overnight with lots of butter and half milk. They're very creamy like that. Most people cook them by the directions ... you know, 5 minute grits or something like that. Yuck!
Hey Mary, I've got another book for you to try ...
"Saving CeeCee Honeycutt" by Beth Hoffman It's another book written in the south ...
Oh Susan, how is your boss? Sending prayers that he's doing better. Glad your job is going well.
Debbie, I just smiled picturing you cooking that wonderful meal. It does my heart good thinking about you getting to get out a bit and doing some cooking, etc. I know the past couple of months have been very difficult for you. Just think, we complain about cooking and cleaning and you're so thankful to be able to do it. You teach us to count our blessings ... Hang tough girl!
Dianne, how is our Santa Warren today? And what about you? Are you taking time to be good to yourself? Has Quill had anymore spells lately?
Okay, speaking of blessings ... mine's doing the laundry so better get up from here and go help him! LOL
~ing to those I've missed. Will BBL.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Just in, read all your posts, no energy other than wave 'hi' as I head for the bedroom..gab tomorrow!
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
Thanks for asking about my boss - apparently he's well enough to fly. He went to business meetings in Stafford, UK last week. He's still on heavy pain killers, but thinks he'll be well enough to come to work next Thurs.
Baton Rouge, LA
Hello To All !
Thanks for the book suggestion Suse ! hang onto it... will ask about it when I finish this latest I'm reading...
I too have finished my "Santa" gift for the Christmas Swap... Think I'll mail it right after Thanksgiving. Bev.. I too keep thinking "what if ___ doesn't like it" but I know all these ladies on here would be graciously appreciative. just me doubting myself as always...
Judy ((HUGS))) I Sure hope everyone behaves at the funeral but at least you have eyes wide open and a good plan...
How is Santa Warren today ? I wish I had ya'll with me today. Was harder to make a pie crust than I remembered. Does anyone have any tips? Seems like my recipe for 2 crusts only made one... (2 cups flour etc) Then it kept crumbling so added more crisco. Then couldn't seem to get it in the pie pan. piecemealed it... hope it tastes okay.
Im trying the recipe I found on the pumpkin I bought and baking a small pumpkin in the oven 1 1/2 hour. Then I'll mash and make filling.
Boy have I been the party animal lately. New Orleans last weekend. Last night I took DSD1 (drove back in from college) and hubby and DS19 and his GF to Broadway's South Pacific at the River Center
It was very emotional for me because it had been Mom's favorite movie and I knew all the words from the songs...she had the album and growing up we'd play it and clean house, etc. I think she was there with me.
Then today I met 3 ladies from a Disney website at the Mall courtyard and we chatted for 2 hours.
Will be cooking ahead tomorrow for Thanksgiving.
I'll pop back in a bit. Hope everyone is doing well today...
Mary
TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)
Today I got the last of my Christmas Swap done - now to wrap things, and put them in the box I have! There's a little something "special" in mine for my buddy............ hope she likes it lol
Victoria Harbour, ON
Morning, it's mild out today, perfect for outdoor decorating so once daylight hits I'll be off and running. Got Melanie to text Kyle last night to say I needed help for a few hours this morning, even if he brings all the totes to the back deck it would be a great help.
Dianne, where as the Newmarket Show had 4 or 5 buildings before (am I right?) , they had but 3" . Quite nice really, i'd say 3/4 hand made. Could have bought several things but didn't. Lol. Was in a booth and glittering on all their pieces were miniature flecks ever so tiny, almost like a snow slake but in color, was made by a little light box projector.. $99.99 and tax so decided one..salesman said he had a shipment coming in this week so had to buy it and he will ship it out..guarantees I shall have it by December.
I had bought Darlene's husband Mike 2 bottles of Gentleman Jack ..one vendor made Christmas pants that hold wine bottles so bought one as im sure my bottles will fit..have to take a photo to show you.. Then a vendor was selling candles, so I managed to get what I needed for out craft project.
Did purchase packages of dip and some dipping oils..that was about it for me .
On the way to Newmarket Melanie mentioned that Noah is so enjoying his trick bike and mentioned one day he would love to go to Joy Ride150 so after the show we dropped in to have a look, omg 9,000 sq.ft of jumps and thrills etc so I bought him a package of 3 days..one of the days to have grandma bring him, best I have a craft to work on, it's from 10:00 am to 10pm! So now a gift card from the bike shop and Noah's done..only Jeff left and I know what he wants..
Ganz who opens for but a few weeks is at the end of its run, didn't find as much as I hoped for but did find a few gifts..
Dropped in to several other stores including Michaels looking for the berry wreaths we need for our project without any luck so guess a run to Meaford next Saturday morning is in order.
Now that was my day..
Coffee time, be back shortly to read up on how your day went!
Victoria Harbour, ON
Coffee and toast waiting your arrival this morning..have Elvis Christmas songs playing, singing along, ok odd tear..daybreak now will allow me to take note of what is in the back shed..you just know if Kyle is not here by 9:30 I'll be doing the totes and christmas tree (4) on my own. Lol
Lord blessed me with many things but patience was not one of them..lol
Was going to vacuum and clean before unpacking totes but I think I'd best first think of where I can store what I have out now before bringing in more..guess I could put it all in the Christmas totes...
I guess all of you in USA have to get thanksgiving over with before decorating for Christmas!
Susan, mine is almost ready for wrapping as well, it was fin wasn't it?? Can't wait to hear the cheer I. Each of your voices as the parcels arrive!
Omg Mary, did these ladies talk to you about meeting up at Disney?? Lol. How many days off do you have at Christmas away from work? Good luck in ore-cooking/baking, will make things much easier for you come Thanksgiving..
Katie, that diet sounds marvelous especially seeing you lost so much weight, got to say I'm withnthe others, not sure I could give up my coffee..shaking my head no! DIL was talking about a diet she just started, going to send me the basics..lost 13 lbs in last couple of weeks, hmm forgot the name..both Linda and I want to start..need so e of this weight off..
Suse, will you be having Thanksgiving at your house or travelling to family..does Moses go with you whenever you travel..would imagine so, silly question. How are the new gardens?
Think I'd best not linger on, just know that would be the end of my energy..must forge on
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
Hi Everyone!!!
Scott closed the deli because of lack of customers, he wasn't making a profit anymore and without a profit there really isn't a point. It's a HUGE upset in my office and the whole building, and I've heard all kinds of rumors from lack of business to eviction to the health department shutting him down. My goodness.
Susan I'm glad your boss is ok. YIKES!!!!
I don't know when my mom goes in for her first appointment. It's not really an operation, the stimulator goes just barely under the skin. I do know that my step-dad Lynn has flipped his lid, he has gotten very very nasty and told my mom that he wants to move back to Modesto, CA where he is near his friends and family so they can take care of him. She told him she understands but would rather be closer to her daughter, he says that he doesn't care and he wants to move back so that's what he's going to do. She doesn't need this.
Laura so sorry he's not doing good in school, that's very worrisome but he'll grow into it. I was held back because I was too young.
((((((((((((JUDY))))))))))))
Betty glad you're up and running this morning, I wish they would hurry up getting you that dr appointment.
Well Dave's starting to bug me so I guess I better go, he's looking into getting a Honda Civic Coupe for a commuter car and this lame salesman has him talked into buying whatever, regardless if Dave likes it or not so I guess I'm going to have to do this for him too. Unreal.
I have the day off !! and as soon as I am awake enough....I am gonna sew ! sew! sew!! ^_^
Victoria Harbour, ON
Sad Crissy that he had to close regardless of why..you said the food was might tasty! Hubby is going to get that new vehicle for Christmas is he..THINK you had better do the negotiating. How horrible for your mom to have to go through a move when she's so distraught with pain...couldn't he have waited just a tad bit more
Thunder, you enjoy your day sewing..I got side tracked big time..
Kyle and I just finished light outside..need about 4 more light cords to be completely done, that shouldn't take long to put out..tonight when it get dark I'll go play with lights as it's too hard to do in daylight.
I was so laughing at Kyle as he carried the totes to back deck..told me either I had to get rid of some or go buy a bigger house...said 'grandma, you sure like Christmas...lol
A hot dog later, hot chocolate, Christmas music playing I'm thinking to at least put the other 3 trees up..one on front deck is up and secure,just will have to buy christmas plastic table cloths so I can wrap boxes to put under and that area is done...need more pine for 2 hanging baskets then I can put the lights in it soooo very pleased with my morning..body not so pleased
Well, fact be known whether Lynn wants to admit it or not, they can't do anything until they sell their house, and they can't put it on the market until she gets that stimulator put in the right spot, and she's hoping that by then he'll change his mind. He's barking orders that they're going to do this and that right now, but they can't, unless he seriously doesn't care and up and leaves my mom, and THAT would NOT be good! That's crazy to move from Oklahoma City, OK to Modesto, CA when your doctor is in Houston, TX.
LOL Dave does the negotiating, I can't negotiate for anything for crap. I'll have to find the car because he'll never make up his mind, when I find the car he'll negotiate the price.
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
Those tubs look like my tubs!!
Victoria Harbour, ON
Surely he would not do that Crissy..your mom would surelymgivemup if that happened! They have been together ions haven't they?
Omg don't ever ask me to negotiate, I'm like you..if they ask a price they they must be asking the value price..nope, don't send me to negotiate. If I buy another car I'm going to send Darlene's hubby to do it, may Greg seeng he's best friends with the salesman, not that it would be in my favor. Lol...
