Hi there, been working like crazy sewing, finally had to give up, would so like to put in a few more hours but no can do..already bathed, in nightly, cup of tea by my side and received 4 calls in last 15 minutes..the only uncle I have left on dad's side, my most favorite, almost like BIL as I was raised by my grandmother and there was only 10 years between me and my Aunt is critical..he and one other aunt are left and that makes me sad, more so that I then become the next generation waiting for my turn to be beside them...

What a big expense Thea, but with our freezing weather there is no way you can NOT have a good heating system...bet it takes all those heaters can put out to keep ou warm..worried about you having them on all nite. Dangerous for sure.

Yep, bet all the galls and Andy are either resting after a busy day yesterday or out spending their dollars doing early Christmas shopping..wonder how many have Christmas decorations out today lol. Know LindaKay would have her Victorian santa's nearby..

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

work was CRAZY busy !!! went by in a flash, so that was great. And most people were very polite. there were a few "scuffles" last night, and a few people were escorted out of the store !! very happy I missed that fun..

this was the first time in 6 years that I have had Thanksgiving off, sure was nice.
No such thing as a four day weekend for me, unless I put in request for vacation days, and they are not allowed from mid November - January 3rd. I was amazed to get time off last Christmas. that was only because my soldier was being deployed.. I will only get my regular 2 days off per week from now till Jan 3rd. Actually hoping to get a little bit of overtime between now and Christmas, but that is unlikely.

My hubs got his cool pad on line?? not sure where, but I do know he found it much cheaper that way than buying at the store. I do not know if wal mart carries them.

sorry about the furnace Thea, those kinda things never happen at a "good time" sure hope you can stay warm enough till all the work gets done.

Deb.......I TOLD YOU ALREADY............DON'T OVER DO !!!!!!

My cut is healing well. Dana re-bandaged it for me a little while ago and it looks good. tony promised he will wash dishes tomorrow.

When in San diego about a year ago I found a rather beat up butcher block table on the sidewalk. Brought it home and made the top into a counter top. Today I finally got around to sanding it. It still looks a bit rustic, like everything else around here, including me, and I'm happy. Will Put the finish on it later.

This cleaning/organizing is going along OK. I occasionally find things that I've no idea why I put them where I did. "What was I thinking?" I'm sure no one else here ever does that.

Still headachy probably mostly from all the dust and tired from the shock of the cut. Tonight will be another early bedtime.

We are totally celebrating the rain we got last night. It's such a rare occurance.

the goldenberry plants - which can now be looked up in the plant files - are loving this weather. So am I.

Deb - have fun and remember to take lots of breaks. very easy to overdo when you start to feel better.

hugs, katie

Hello just popping on before I get too frustrated with DH involved in a mess of Christmas lights...

Katie - just last night I found a pot for a plant... it was behind my recipes in the kitchen LOL so no you aren't the only one... I sure hope your hand heals up fast. Tony knows you are both lucky to have one another

Thea, Ouch... but as Thunder said those things never happen at a good time... hope you got a good deal...
Thunder you make me Thankful to have Thanksgiving off... I need to remind myself from time to time...
Betty you are a Saint putting up with your Dear Mom...
Ya'll are making me want potato soup. Shirley sent me a recipe once will go look for it...

Debbie that Turkey looks awesome... how do you get it so golden brown ? So glad you are up and "at em" but agree... hope you aren't overdoing it... no use in tripping over the pup and risking a set back...

Crissy - Razorbacks sure put up a fight... I was worried... Hubs is a bear regardless but he'd be worse if LSU Tigers had lost...
GOing to check on him to see if he is untangled yet... Have 5 Teens here ready to decorate the tree antsy to go out and we might lose them if we don't start soon...

Betty, this is the top of all the Christmas blocks I have received in the swaps here! Well, almost all of them. I still need to sandwich it together with the batting and backing, but it will be done by next week-end.

Well, I was pretty good. Did the lower part of the windows outside and left the screens and tops for DH, who finished them when he got home from work.

Have a funny for you. DD Carrie brought over a huge box from her garage that had been my Moms. She just saw "snowmen" on top and knew it was to be at our house. I didn't have time to go over it, so put it on the front porch. Well, today out there cleaning....it was in the 50's...so nice.

I am sitting there going thru the box, which most of the paper was shredded beyond belief. Then wild bird seed and shells. What the heck? Finally, I get down to the bottom of all those snowmen.....and there it is. My Moms favorite treasure. Her "bust" of Elvis with a music box in the bottom...my step GM made it for her.

SO, I pick it up and "pooooof" all this stuf started falling out. A mouse....had built a nest in it. I jumped like a crazy woman! Mom was always teasing me at Christmas time...getting her boxes out of the closets....I would open one just as she poked me "oh a mouse" and I would jump. I was able to laugh, as sure seemed she set that up perfect....even though she has been gone 3 1/2 years! Worth it for the buried treasures though.

AND tonight DH took me out to dinner where DS works. I went, without the walker, just holding DH's arm walking....and I got my jeans back on. Haven't worn jeans since pre-surgery!

Debbie - I KNOW your Mom is reaching out to give you a laugh! Isn't that something... The older I get the more I believe in stuff like that... had a similar circumstance after my Mom passed....
Isn't that something that she sent a laugh your way... you really needed one ! Hearing so much positive back in your voice... know your getting our old "Debbie" back ! Lovely dinner with Hubs and Jeans !YAY!

LK - that is simply beautiful... love the colors....

Morning all,

Tummy tipsy turvy Debbie reading about yesterday, I am a firm believer that our loved ones do watch over us and that we are blessed the times they are able to are able to touch us..yesterday was a prime example..she must have smiled for playing yet another prank on you. We had some of that beautiful weather here yesterday as well..I've still a few outdoor trees to put lights on so will find time today between sewing and getting Sailors nails done.

Mary, how did the tree decorating go? Lol. Why is it when we undecorate we just throw (at least I do) everything in their boxes and then the following year it's a challenge. I promise myself this year that each cord of lights will be folded and put into a bag!

lindaKay, my mouth is wide open in awww, look at that quilt top, amazing! I can see my block..perhaps I should look harder for last years..oh I so want these 3 I'm doing to be over so I can enjoy playing with one for me. How will you quilt it or will you tie it? It is so striking..are you keeping it for yourself? Hope so!!

Katie, hard to imagine you don't get rain! How on earth does all the plant life survive? Hope you find the brace shortly, bet you will have such a laugh when you see where you've set it down..a prayer to St.Anthony, patron saint of lost objects, he'll know where it is at!

Starting to worry about Judy..she should be back from the funeral..

Pacifica, CA

me too betty it,s hard when she has no cell phone hope she is well
your envelope should go out today kenny forgot to go to the post office yesterday.

darn heater went out here we have a dule gas wall heater so he's in it for 150.00 hopefully we can have heat today
been down for three days, saw someone else had problems to hope they get heat soon to.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Betty, both of your blocks are in there, the other wreath is on the top right, hard to see in the picture. Yes, I think I will get some green and red yarn, and just tie it.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Liz, what a time for furnaces to go on the blink, thank goodness no below 0 yet..Kenny is so handy, you are a lucky girl..he'll have it fixed or replaced in no time! You will let us know if you hear from Judy please.

LindaKay for a quilt that will not take daily use I think to tie would be ok!! It is outstanding!

With all the freehand quilting I'm going through thread like crazy..just doing 2sides-6" took an entire large spool, and I've many to add..will be going to Walmart and buying all they had, as well, I'm totally amazed at how much material they are taking up.

I would be surprised if I didn't run out and have to purchase a car load next weekend and I've not even taken stock of what I need for other 2 projects

mulege, Mexico

I'm having puter problems. Otherwise I'm fine. Back when I can.

hugs, katie

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving, lol only 2 days late, but what the heck, Everyday is Thanks giving!

I was so very Thankful for each and everyone of you, for you were all with me in Spirit.
...When my Cousins came in, I simply thought of all of your Arms wrapped around me and I was instantly at peace.
The service was beautiful and David's Spirit was with us also.

Upon returning, We had to scramble to get things done. Shopping for Dinner, Working at the other house, and for me, sewing like a crazed women!!
We had 15 for Dinner, was wonderful!! Brandon and Nicole came from Boston!!! And part of our Thanks Giving is for giving the announcement of their Baby!!
Joyce screeched and cried with delight...it was so cute, they gave her a card with the ultrasound picture, the note, simply said "Are you ready to be a Grandma"?
Baby is due June 11th. LOL (Breenies Birthday) she was thrilled!
Today, we are celebrating their wedding with family and friends here...so we are off to Rockford in a few hours. Steve and i will be spending the night, be back tomorrow!! I am wishing for a laptop from Santa, lol.

I have read alll the posts, So smiling at the thanks giving celebrations, stories and pictures!!!

Debbie, so smiling, you wished the windows and poof they are all clean!! lol...Glad you did not overdue...OMG, I just love that mouse story!! your mom is with you you!!!

Dianne and everyone, Thank you so much for the fires, lighting of the candles and or just thinking of having one. The Spirits carried your prayers, and I swear they intermingled with mine. I offered tobacco in the prayer fire and you all apart of my blessings and thanks.
Dianne, I love that you burn Sage and feel it's power. What you feel is exactly whats suppose to happen...
Also, lol your so cute...Yep Jacob is back in wrestling!! Loving it and so far he has won his first matches...He's there today, so hopefully he does well.

Now I am going to tell you all of my experience. I did not see any Eagles, which was very odd. But I saw and felt something better...lol, which is even weirder!
I saw a Spirit!! I could feel the energy all around me...sure wish I had a chance to talk with Boise about it. But as he says the Spirits are everywhere and they were with me that day.

Well, Thank you for worrying about me, I'm ok...I hate that I have no phone!! But, I think I will be getting one of Sabrina old ones! So hopefully back in business soon!!

Well DH is stirring so have to run and get things packed again!

Will be able to make a better post tomorrow, should be home by noon, I hope!

Katie, sure hope your finger heals soon, ouch!!

Love ad arm wraps to all...

Judy, I am sooo happy for you my friend. I too had my candle burning for you and all your family. And I'm glad you could feel us there with you. A spirit visit was just one more way of letting you know how much people do care for you and wish you peace. I hope that spirit will live on for you and that you will have peace always...Sending love and armwraps back to you.

I can see the joy in Joyce's face with her Grandma news. Please let her know how happy we are for her.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thea, omg usually make a visit to the daily birthday section, but did not do..I feel so badly!!! Did you enjoy your day, having been told about the furnace would have out a damper on things..drats and more drats, sure better get with it, make it a mornimg ritual..can I have a piece of lindakay's cake?

Judy, so glad you were able to drop in..was about to call Chicago police. Lol

Knew you were in good hands, with all the hugs and prayers everyone sent your way how could you not..when I did my fire yesterday morning didn't even think of the sage..must remember.

Tell Jacob when he make the big time wrestling matches that I want to come and watch, save me a ticket or two!

Just hearing you say a new baby is on its way is a cause for great celebration, they make all that is wrong in the world taken a back seat..

Well, look like a grannie with this perm, takes a week or so before I don't have the grannie curls..took Sailor for her nails, same time I asked for info on euthonizing..Lordy, over $500 for a needle and cremation. On the bill was $50 for pre-euthonizing examination?? What is with that?? Not going to do it right now but am going to be prepared for when it happens.

You've all made me hungry with your turkey, had frozen cranberries and turnip from our thanksgiving, picked up turkey, now in the oven so should be a good evening meal, might even consider taking out the frozen blueberry pie.

Gabbed long enough, feel myself nodding so if I sit here much longer that will be the end of my energy and workday will stop!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Good afternoon all...fresh coffee is on along with the first Christmas Cookies that I picked up at the local Swiss Christmas Craft Sale.

Thank you for the birthday wishes...I had a small but great celebration with my DH and our son (daughter had to work till 9pm). Yep that furnace was sure a BIG surprise on my BD and I told DH "That is one heck of a BD present" lol
We will celebrate my BD tomorrow with my sister and family and of course my family...lol...We will have Beefrouladen, homemade noodles, beans with bacon and salad. For dessert I made a Cherrytorte and a German Cheesecake. In Germany it is tradition that people (neighbors/relatives/classmates/friends etc.) will stop by at the house to celebrate the birthday with you, and you provide the food/cakes/drinks for them. Sooooo you are all invited!! I miss having not more family close by :(

Well I am off and running...break time is over...back to decorating!!

Love and Hugs

Thea, what time do I have to leave in the morning so I can partake in the festivities? Drats girl, our USA pals hard me drooling so much re their Thursday menu that I'm following suit and having them for supper, no way in thousand years could I come up with all you just listed..sounds yummy though!

Knew it was a mistake to sit when I last posted, put my head down and just woke up,now got a lazy streak going on..was gorgeous weather, and inside the 2 hrs I slept temps dropped by at least 10 degrees..brrr. Hoping if I take a bath and move around I'll get a second wind..

Dianne, a heart felt thank you for the newspaper clip on Jay Serdula who has Asperger syndrome . Omg tear in the eye and big smile at same time, Kyle is very much like that, if you ask him a question, don't do it out of politeness, make sure you have time to listen to his reply!! Lol

For example last night I asked how school was, heard about each and every class and his thoughts on the teachers. THEN came some agitation on his part..got mid term report, said that in english class he did not hand in assignments on time. Yesterday he went to the teacher, wanted to see documentation on which assignments, teacher said .in general, Kyle would not. Let it go till teacher went in search of the specific reference the teacher finally came up with..went through all the papers, found Kyle's, Kyle asked to see the date it had been handed in..ahh 3 weeks early..teacher said ,nothing I can do about it! Kyle told him yes there was, a letter of apology to him and letter to his parents...said he was working extremely hard for a good report card.. Finally teacher told him to meet him after school and he would have the letters for him, Kyle went, stayed, missed his bus just to get the letters and no teacher.

I asked Kyle what his next step would be, said he would be a teacher's home room Monday and ig he wasn't there he would go to the principle. Now he has a bee in his bonnet because the teacher did not keep his appointment.

aspires take these thing seriously..but that just shoes you, like Jay, don't ask unless you've plenty of time to answer.

Verona, ON

Glad you enjoyed the article Betty. I immediately thought of you and Kyle when I saw it in the paper. I love the Tshirt Jay is promoting.

As a teacher Betty I personally think it is criminal of that teacher to not meet up with Kyle as promised.

Count me in Thea for your BD celebration and meal too. DH is feeling so good he'll be there too.Sure wish we could but DH isn't feeling that great. But my what a difference in him.

Judy, you tell Jake he better have 2 tickets set aside so Betty and I can see him when he hits the big time. I really enjoy HS and College wrestling. A good friend of mine used to coach the wrestling team at the HS where he taught. One time at a championship match he got so excited when his wrestler won Phil ran out and lifted the wrestler right off of his feet in a celebratory hug. Irony of the whole thing was Phil is 5'2" about 135 lb the wrestler was 6' 210 lb. What a sight!

Started a beef stew so had better go stir the pot.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, Kyle won't let it lay...that is one of the symptoms..when they get their mind on something nothing stops them if they feel they or someone else has been slighted!! They are earthly angels though, always carrying someone's plight on their shoulders..

Nope bath did not help get my mojo working, back laying on the chesterfield! I'll be mad tomorrow that I've wasted all afternoon and night.

Did the elves give Santa warren the laptop. Yet? When you say you 'what a difference in Santa Warren'. Hope it is for the best..

Can imagine the sight of Phil and the wrestler..too bad more teachers couldn't be as demonstrative , society now has it as a bad thing. That is what I think is missing in the schools.

Stew, Lordy you all eat good.

Had a hot cross bun and hot chocolate and now not sure I want a big turkey dinner..guess it will be for tomorrow..ok, maybe I had 2 hot cross buns
Sure looks like snow is in the air..

Verona, ON

Oh yes Betty the difference is for the better. This new round of meds is outstanding. He thinks he can do more than he is really able so ends up wiping himself out energy wise but its his choice. Yestererday when we went shopping I said That's it we go home now, I know he was a little miffed at me BUT he came home and then napped from 3pm till I woke him up at 7:30 pm to get ready for bed. Think we are going to try a bit more shopping tomorrow.
