You gals are mAking me hungry!!
Ann and I just finished tv bingo..no winnings so can't fly out to eat some of your turkey!
Barb was just telling Ann that I was starting to fret..told me to tell you that you are in her prayers.be glad when the final results come in so you won't have worries over Christmas.
Debbie, how did your appointments go?
It's COLD, windy..not sure what the night will bring! Thea, Dianne and Debbie, storm coming your way...be safe
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..
Hello To All !
RE: Thanksgiving.....We are headed to MIL/FIL... I've already done my few things to bring. BIL is frying a turkey LK... I LOVE Fried Turkey.
For the first time I am feeling a little homesick for Florida Thanksgiving. They don't do Mashed Potatoes or Stuffing here.... and I miss it. MIL does a "rice dressing".
Suppose I could just cook turkey with *my* fixins at a later date. Might be good to try.
Crissy - stupid question but when house is grounded does that mean it's on the ground, not stilts/raised ? So sad for the 19 yr old player I have to wonder if all the practicing and football aggravated the condition... just questioned hubs and he is concerned of course what that will mean for the game...silly man..... So I just went around and made plans with the teens to get the tree before the game and decorate it after. Hubs will be no use during.
"Geaux Tigers!" must be true to my state LOL....
Thunder sounds like a FULL HOUSE for the holidays... I am excited for you ! ... Deb Please keep us posted on those tests... wondering if you are having to cook a big meal for Thanksgiving...
Katie... Please don't get the Christmas blues this year! Stop in and see us... sounds like you are getting SO much accomplished. Have you tried those magnet braces ?
Dianne - I am SO so glad you are joining the quilting group.... that will be wonderful... interesting about the burning sage... does it have the meaning of letting bad thoughts go ? I might need to grow some sage... I too am SO anxious for Spring... is that bad for me to say to my northern friends on an 80 degree day? I wish I could look in a crystal ball and see that all my plants made it through the winter. We have had Spring like weather lately and the iris are peeking up above the ground... I believe that it was a good thing for Santa Warren to get out and work with his hands...hope I am correct in that.
I'll pop back in a bit... ((((HUGS)))
Mary
Betty, blood work still pending BUT the scan and appointment went very well. I have "good coloring" in the foot/leg, temperature is where it should be....and the clot has shrunk, which all means that the bood is flowing freely back to the foot.
I have to stay on the "clot buster" meds til February when the scan will be repeated and hopefully it will be calcified or gone.
Tomorrow I will start my cooking that I can do unassisted like the butternut squash and getting things ready for the stuffing prep. Older girls are coming over to help Thursday morning.
Travel safely everyone.....and have a wonderful holiday and weekend!
Debbie
Betty, i got the pattern. some of it how ever is written in a very strange language!!!
I am spoiled, hubs does all the cooking..and I usually spend some of the cooking time sewing!!! probably not this Thanksgiving tho..I will be spending the time looking at and listening to my sailor!!!
I peel potatoes if he asks :) and then sometimes I get to smash them :) too LOL
I put the rag quilt all together, then I snip at it here and there...in no hurry to get it done, and I have the "rag quilt cutters" so it will be slow but sure, and I won't get any more aches in the hands.
Debbie - You mention Stuffing...and Thunder you mention Potatoes....
My Question is:
What is the #1 MEAT for YOUR Thanksgiving ..... and the Top 2 - 3 Side dishes?
I grew up with :
Baked Turkey.... Mashed Potatoes/Gravy .....Bread Crumb Stuffing.... Green Beans.......
Thursday we will have Fried Turkey/Ham/Pork Loin..... Rice Dressing.... my green bean casserole, broccoli/cheese and corn. (Ugh)
I grew up with baked turkey, mash potatoes/gravy, bread crumb stuffing, green beans, acorn or butternut squash, cranberry sauce, and some type of corn .. and all the other little stuffs, pickles, olives, pickled eggs, nuts, all those little goodies that you try so hard not to eat too much of. Home made bread and butter, a few different pies, usually apple, and pumpkin, and my favorite dessert...Ice cream when I was a kid we lived VERY close to an ice cream plant, so we got just made !!!!
my hubs grew up with two very different thanksgiving meals, one Polish/Russian from his dads side, kielbasa, pirogi, borscht, and of course every bit of it home made.
and then french /Canadian his moms side..they had turkey with meat stuffing (his mom always put too much cloves in it and that's all you could taste) all the other goodies about the same only 10 times as much !!! and home made noodles YUM, his Mim... short for Meme made noodles for all the holidays :) they were very good,
we did not have a lot when I was a kid, I think Momma must have saved a little bit every week from the grocery and house monies, the whole rest of the year, to be able to do big dinners for Thanks giving and Christmas...I don't know how she managed, but she sure did.
she asked me not to long ago, if I'd ever felt like we did not have enough??, we had been talking about some "old" times, and neighbors from when I was little, she said she always felt bad, we would each get a barbie, for instance. and the girls next door would get 4 or 5 barbies, and bunches of clothes, and a car...etc.... I was very Happy to answer her "no" she always was able to make what ever we got special !! maybe the girl next door got 5 dolls, and tons of doll clothes, but her doll did not get a dress hand made by Momma, nor a coat crocheted by Nana!!! she got the same ole stuff any body else could get !!! we got "special" Well we both cried a little over that one!! we sure were not rich money wise, but Momma always made what ever the occasion was very special !! and she still does...
well I sure got off topic there now didn't I :)
so our menu is gonna be baked turkey, potatoes/gravy none for me please, I like to taste my tatters. sweet potatoes, it is always a surprise how they will be fixed?? so I can't tell ya?? green been casserole, which is a new addition to us, a fantastic recipe hubs got from DIL !! bread stuffing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, chocolate cream pie, cheese cake,
I got a bottle of wine sent to us from hubs brother out in Washington state, from 14 hands winery , it is called "hot to trot" red blend, hubs has three brothers that live out there and they all get wines from this place for what ever occasions. the label has horse on it, all the labels and names are some thing "horsey" can't decide if I want to drink it for Thanksgiving, or save it for Christmas, as i know My DIL would enjoy drinking it with me!!! and I sure am hoping they will be here for Christmas, or very shortly there after....
well I think I gabbed away enough....time to try to go to bed, I got to get up early for work
hope y'all are having sweet dreams, and wake up to a great day :) HUGS
I can see a lot of you have "Yes" pie on your Thanksgiving menu. I had never heard of it until I met my DH's family.
Mary have you cooked a turkey before? It is so easy to do it is mind boggling the first time you roast one. I am assuming when you say 'fried' the turkey is immersed in a fat boiler, right?
Betty you are right - the freezing rain is here. YUCK!! Have the generator all gassed up and ready to be fired up. I am positive we will lose our hydro tonight.
Lights are flickering I need to go!
Make sure you all do something nice for yourself tomorrow.
Dianne
Morning everyone! Coffee is ready!
Dianne, we just bought a large deep fryer made for turkey's. This is the first time were going to try and fry our turkey. No breading or anything, just slowly lower the turkey into the hot peanut oil, and cook it.
We have always had pie for Thanksgiving, usually pumpkin, which I don't care for, pecan, apple. My Mom always made mincemeat, but I don't care for that one either.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Butterball-20010109/12441731
Good morning,
Linda Kay, Make sure...when you deep fry that turkey, there is not ONE DROP of water on that bird, inside or out. Make sure it is outside on a flat surface and wear gloves!!! My brother in law ended up in the ER two years ago...from the "water drops/juice" on the bird, causing the oil to "blow" straight up fire and his hands were so burned/singed. Just read the instructions and be very very careful. That incident scared me so bad I won't do it here.
Our Thanksgiving meal will be baked turkey, stuffed with sausage stuffing that also has chopped apples and raisens in it. I started that a couple years ago just to "try" and the kids loved it. So, it has become a new part. Then we have the greenbean cassarole with cream of mushroom soup & french onions on top, corn, butternut squash and dinner rolls. The girls usually are in charge of dessert which usually is an apple, a pumpkin and a cheesecake pies. Oh yes, and cranberries.
Dark gloomy day here. We had pouring rain all night long and it had Izzy unsettled.
I am running behind, but wanted to say good morning to all....now need my coffee & meds.
Debbie
Good morning everyone!!
LK…thank you for the coffee, I sure could use another cup.
Well Winter has officially arrived!! *YUCK*It has been snowing steady since at least 3am this morning (that is when I got up), but it is a light and fluffy snow, so I don`t think it will amount to too much…just darn snowdrifts everywhere.
Poor Dianne must be getting the freezing rain right now…sure hope she is safe and sound!!
Dianne that is wonderful that you will join a quilters group! You sure will have lots of fun, plus it gets you out of the house so you can have a little break. I am looking forward to spring so we can set a date to finally meet!! I don`t think I will see the Doc in Kingston anytime soon…I am at the bottom of the list to see him *YAY*…maybe next summer…lol
How is Warren doing? Sure hope he has many many days where he is pain free. You both are always in my heart and prayers Big Hugs to you both.
Barb…big hugsss…hope you feel better soon…not fun being sick on top of being sick!! When you see the Doc on the 5th, know we are all right there with you…holding you tight.
Judy…I am so sorry to hear about your dear Cousin…big armwraps to you and your family. May you find comfort in knowing we are all right there beside you. Your fires sound so peaceful and spiritual, maybe whenever you have time I would love to hear more about the significance and tradition behind the fires and the burning of Sage. I always have been fascinated by the Native Culture and I love listening to the Drums and the stories.
Debbie…great news on the results of your tests and your walking!! It might seem to you like Babysteps but it surely will bring you closer to be fully healed. You’ll see next year this time you will be running around outside chasing snowflakes!!! Hugs coming your way!!
LK…deep frying the turkey sounds wonderful!! Please take pictures of the Bird and show us the end result!! I’ll make sure I wear a bib when I look at the picture…lol
Thunder… I am soooo happy for you that you have your Sailor home for TG. Praying that your Soldierboy will be home very soon!!
Mary…thank you for sharing your pictures with us!! I really enjoyed it and I am so glad you had a wonderful time with your DH. As for TG…just sneak in a container full of mashed taters…lol.
In Germany we don`t celebrate TG like you do in NorthAmerica, so I had to learn this tradition when we moved here in 1987. On our (Canadian)TG I cook the traditional Turkey, bread stuffing (my BIL recipe), mashed taters, green beans, cauliflower, peas and carrots, cranberry sauce and lotsssssss of gravy. For dessert I usually bake different pies.
Betty…hope you are feeling better with your arm…girl you just have to SLOW down…give your body rest so it can heal…you sure are an Energizer bunny…lol…makes me tired just reading what you all do in one day!!! If you wouldn`t mind, I would love to have the pattern too for the slippers. Maybe it would be something I could make for the Children in Belarus/Chernobyl that are in orphanages. Our community always sends boxes of clothes over to them.
Crissy…I would be terrified with all the tornado and severe thunderstorms you are having. I could see myself hiding out in the shelter all the time!! lol
Bev…hope you had a good visit with your DH and hope you are feeling a lot better too. I love the pictures of your daylilies…I think I have 2 of them in the garden (bought them late this year so they never flowered)…will have to take a picture for you in spring and maybe you can tell me what they are.
Suse are you going to celebrate TG with family or is it just you and DH and Moses? Will Moses get some turkey too? I remember the last year our dog (my shadow) was alive we had TG at our place and after dinner we just moved all the leftovers onto the counter and my sister and I went for a walk in the garden. Next thing we hear all this commotion in the house…yelling and so on…so we went back inside and there was our dog sitting with the turkey carcass on the living room carpet!! LOL He sure knew how to help himself!!
Katie…I could never give up my coffee!! lol Must be awesome just to be able to walk outside and pick a fresh lemon from the tree!! Hope you are feeling better today and not as sore.
Well I sure hope I didn`t forget anyone!! Wishing you all a very happy Thanksgiving for tomorrow…take good care of each other and stay safe and eat a plate for each and every one of us that is not celebrating TG!! Remember there are NO calories in food that you eat for someone else
Love and many hugs
Thea
Morning, left a bit early this a.m. because we did have freezing rain during the night, lots of slippery roads but not enough to stay home..drats and more drats lol!
Here I sit with the cricut cutter, thought I'd take a break from sewing for today..will play cutting sayings for the Christmas workshop, see if my thoughts on how to make writting easy works..if not, back to step B with painting from a stencil.
Christmas music playing softly on the telephone system..why is it when we listen to festive movie they have to play heart wrenching songs..certainly sentimental!!!!!
Mary, there is a new way of doing turkey, not the deep fryer but a unit that you can cook all kinds of meat, infra ray light, omg every meat Bernie cooks in it turns out the best ever..partial to pork roast. he bought his in BigLots..I've checked everytime I'm in USA to find one, cheapest there but someone said Home Depot had them as well...
Thunder, goodness, just went back and looked at the pattern..didn't realize they posted directions in another language..I can make out what to do by the photo but will contact the company I bought it from and request ENGLISH version..lol....Dianne, if you want pattern need your e-mail addy
to send pattern..maybe I'll go online and type the strange language instructions for english in the translation program
be back in a sec..got to go check my car, brought everything I need for the cricut and no main cutting sheet that I need to cut..hmmm maybe it fell out in the car, highly unlikely though
Nasty night and nasty morning so far weather wise. You are right Thea we have lots of freezing rain here. There is so much I can't put the dogs out on the lake side of the house. It is a hill down to the lake and the dogs just slide right on down. We did get enough snow to cover the ground too.
Everyone I know that fries their turkey raves about it. I have yet to taste a fried one so have no idea what the attraction is for people. But sure would try one sometime.
Your menus all sound wonderful! Sure hope your day tomorrow is all you want it to be.
Lights are flickering again so I had better get off of here.
Dianne
Dianne, so hope you had no doctors appointments today and that you get to stay safe inside.
Thea, need your e-mail address to send you the pattern..even with the strange language I'm sure you can figure it out, it's just sewing and snipping and straight sewing for the pull cord to go through..photo's go a long way.
Maybe I'll head out to Fabricland and purchase
Debbie, you've lots to be thankful for this Thanksgiving..so glad reports were good..just don't overdo...let the kids help with what they can..
Lordy, we always have pies at our Thanksgiving and Christmas..never know which to bake so always bake one of each lol
Hi y'all!
Just wanted to say hello and happy Thanksgiving in case I don't get back in time to do it ...
Everyone's menu does sound good. As for ours, we have baked ham, smoked chicken cornbread dressing and gravy, turnip greens, butterbeans, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, strawberry pretzle salad and anything else someone decides to bring. There will be a pecan pie, pumpkin pie and cranberry cake for sure but there are also surprises with the desserts. My in-laws don't like the traditional turkey, so I do that for me and the DH. In fact, I cooked us a little turkey breast last night. I didn't fix any of the normal fixings since we'll be having them tmr, though.
Debbie, so so happy with your report!
Thea, I got a chuckle picturing your dog sitting in the floor with the turkey. LOL
Moses isn't allowed table food since he goes to restaurants. He has to be a good boy. The only treat he gets is an ocasional baby carrot and the coffee place gives out doggie treats, so when I get a coffee he gets a treat.
Barb, sending prayers for your test. Hope you can have a good Thanksgiving.
Dianne, love and hugs to you and our Santa Warren ... Tell him to be very careful and please use his walker or cane when he goes outside ... Tell him to do it for all of us ...
Judy, still sending prayers your way as well.
Okay, I'll just have to ~ to everyone else for now because I can't remember what else I wanted to say. LOL Y'all have a blessed day ...
Suse you have my mouth drooling, everything sounds so yummy! Seems like forever since we had our Thanksgiving..
Poor Moses, no food treats, guess he doesn't know the difference if he's never been given any.
I keep thinking of all you southerners, likely with the lovely weather you have you eat outside..how I wish I was at your table..
Mary GROUDED means that it's electrically grounded, this has nothing to do with where or how it's sitting. Here's an explanation:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground_wire
That sounds like some sort of French dinner that they do. I know two guys born and raised in Baton Rouge and they both do dressing and taters, they always have, and one is French, his last name is Boudreaux.
I tasted a fried turkey in CA and it was wonderful but I'd rather have it baked, not much into fried food.
LOL Thea, the storms moved out the night before last. We're expecting more on Sunday and into Monday. If you saw a shelter you wouldn't want to be in one very long, they're not very exciting.
Well my lunch has arrived so I'm going to go for now!
Dianne I sure hope the weather improved during the day and that the ice is melting fast. We didn`t get too much snow and luckily no freezing rain, but the darn snowplow dumped a pile of snow in front of the driveway, so I was stuck at home. No shoveling for me and my car sits too low to try and make a run for it. Stayed in my PJ’s, had 2 cat naps and quilted…a nice relaxing day!!
Suse…that Strawberry Pretzel salad sure sounds interesting…care to share the recipe? I am always on the hunt for new and interesting recipes. Wishing you a wonderful day with your In-laws tomorrow…and remember Eat an extra plate for us Canadians too!!! lol
Crissy…maybe if I would put a treadle sewing machine in there and some fabric...I think I could hold out for a while…LOL…to be honest though I have NO clue how big such a shelter would be or what it looks like. All I remember from old movies are those storm cellars with the trap type of door that you enter from the outside. Is your shelter buried all the in the ground?
Well time to do the dishes…have a wonderful evening all.
Love and Hugs Thea
About now I imagine those of you who work ie Mary and Crissy are on their way home with a smile as big as can be, 4 day long weekend ahead of you..all others, can bet you've been cleaning, baking and getting things together so tomorrow will be a day without stress.
Thunder, You will be blessed with sailor boy home, God willing , army will send your son home shortly, if not for thanksgiving then Christmas
Ooops got company
I was wondering about the strawberry pretzel salad as well..wonder if the pretzels are used for eating dip?? So interesting to see the different traditions..
Paperboy was at the door looking for his bonus $$$
Suzanne just called to see if I was up to company..I bought Arianna a Santa/snowman backpack and a little stuffed doggie in a Christmas box, Suzanne just gave it to her and now she wants to visit aunt betty. Lol
Betty have a wonderful visit with Suzanne and Arianna, nothing like a little child to cheer one up.
Forgot to tell you thank you for the slipper pattern...that language sure is weird...lol...I have NO clue what it could be. I would be e-mailing e-pattern to complain about it...I mean you paid for a readable pattern!!
Wonder how Susan is doing...hope she is ok. Didn`t Calgary had a bad windstorm the last few days with power outages?
Night nights...off to watch TV and knitting socks.
Thea
Hi y'all ...
Here's the recipe for the Strawberry Salad. It's so yummy, it can almost be dessert! LOL
Strawberry Salad
2 cups crushed pretzels
3/4 cup butter, melted
3 tablespoons white sugar
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
2 (3 ounce) packages strawberry flavored gelatin
2 cups boiling water
2 (10 ounce) packages frozen strawberries
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Stir together crushed pretzels, melted butter and 3 tablespoons sugar; mix well and press mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes, until set. Set aside to cool.
In a large mixing bowl cream together cream cheese and 1 cup sugar. Fold in whipped topping. Spread mixture onto cooled crust.
Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Stir in still frozen strawberries and allow to set briefly. When mixture is about the consistency of egg whites, pour and spread over cream cheese layer. Refrigerate until set.
Hope you like it.

That sounds yummy!
Dianne, when can we mail out our pressies for this swap?
Hello To All !
LK - My pressie is all packed up ... will plan to mail it Friday....YAY ! I think most the fun is figuring out what to give...
Suse thanks for the recipe... saved it in my Family Cook Book folder....
Yes - Betty - all smiles when I snuck off early today... all bosses were gone.... so came home and cooked a Lasagne... just in a cooking mood and along with all 3 teens we'll have GF's and BF's around too throughout the weekend....
Thea ! So glad you had a relaxing day.... only downfall of 80 degree temps... I can't get 'snowed in' LOL.... I'm sure when Crissy pops on she'll show you pics of her Tornado room... I was very impressed with it... remember her posting pics a few years back....before and after when they installed it...it's very modern...
Crissy - I'm pretty sure the "dirty rice" is a Cajun thing but not all "cajuns" still make the old recipes. Funny the name "Boudreaux"... we have a lot of "Boudreaux" jokes going around....
I LOVE reading everyone's TG menu's and seeing the similarities and differences....
Debbie that Stuffing sounds so yummy but I DO miss the bread stuffing and will just have to make one soon or as Thea mentioned... sneak my taters in with me LOL....
BIL Fries the turkey in oil but I have seen those laser fryers at Bass Pro last year....
Dianne - I have perhaps cooked 2 turkeys in my life...and probably had help both times.... Seems like Mom rubbed it with butter, stuffed both ends.... and then cooked in a Paper Bag in the oven....
I can't wait to try again so will take any tips graciously provided !
Maybe around Christmas.....
I'll pop back in a bit... ((HUGS))
Mary
Hi - been missing cuz I'm busy at work, and not feeling well at home. thanks to a Hot Toddy last night, and hot chicken soup for lunch, I'm feeling better.
Thunder - SO glad your sailor boy is home!! As for Bread Maker - I have a Black & Decker. The most important thing I learned about bread makers is that some want wet to dry added, and others want dry to wet. check the ingredients and the first is either wet or dry. If the recipe doesn't turn out from 1st to last ingredient added, then add from last to first the next time you do it.
Betty - hope you're feeling better.
Crissy - so glad the tornado didn't hit your place, but geeeeze, the thunder/lightening burn must have been very scary! In some areas, if there's peat or something burnable underground, you have to watch that it doesn't smoulder and flare up later......
Happy Thanksgiving to all my 'merican friends! Hope it's the best one ever!!!
Mary, that is a bread stuffing. Let it stale....add chopped celery & onions which had been simmered in butter and cooked. Then a tube of Bob Evans original sausage, 2 apples diced, and a cup of raisens. Add the broth from the giblets for moisture...and if you like the giblets, chop and add them in. Have to mix it all with your hands really well....and stuff bird. We always have extra so cook the last hour alongside the bird. Like I said..usually make it without the apple/raisens....but tried it after saw a recipe.
I've still not found my knee brace. I am now convinced that the dogs hid it because I'm not going to cook them a turkey tomorrow. However, looking for it keeps me at the task of cleaning/organizing my bedroom. Found more fabric for the kids. Alternated with doing laundry and sifting compost. Found a book about ragged edge flowers. I think it is simple enough to show Fely and the girls and we can learn together or at least have some fun.
I also went to town and got both fresh orange juice and red grapefruit juice. Now I'm making yogurt. The kitchen organizing is moving slowly forward.
I've cooked many, many turkeys and am something of an expert at carving them. Used to do one or two for AA holiday potlucks.
The Ragged-edge Flower book is available at EdwardR Hamilton.com for $4.95. They have lots of quilting books, among others. Also DVD's.
Debbie, glad to hear you are walking better. Can dancing be far behind?
Tony is keeping at the new garden while I dither around doing a bit of this and a bit of that. Took another bunch of books to the laundromat today (they have a free book exchange).
Now that I've sifted some compost I can pot up some of my little plants. And trees. Much to do and this time of year, which is best for a lot of the gardening, is also when I'm trying to get things ready for Christmas. I have a big box of candy. Need to go through the stuffed toys and check for any tears or dirt and add new ribbons.
I think I'm about done for today.
hugs, katie
Since my in-laws don't care for turkey, I fixed us a little turkey breast last night. I used a recipe I read somewhere but don't remember where. It's the second time I've done it, and both times it's been moist and delicious. Once it's thawed, I rinse it, pat it dry, spray it with Pam and salt and pepper it. Now for the neat part ... Take a pan and build a rack using celery and carrots. I lay my celery the long way and my carrots cross ways since they happen to be shorter. Just wash them ... I *did trim off the very bottom of the carrots and celery but not the tops. Now set your turkey on top of your veggie rack. Do not cover or use any water. Cook on 325ºF until internal temp is 165. It will rise to 170 when you take it out. Tent it with foil and let it rest for at least 15 mins before slicing.
Sailor is not home yet, He will be in sometime tonight?? hubs and son # 3 , who got out of work a bit early , as he has to work tomorrow :( made pirogi today so that is what we had for supper, along with some kielbasa , we have a fantastic polish delicatessen not to far from here, and there are plenty of left overs for breakfast or munching on tomorrow. son # 3 has to work tomorrow, he does work in a restaurant * sigh* so we will have our dinner around 6.30 - 7.00. He does not mind as he is very thankful he has this job !!
hubs bought a bread maker at the Habitat store , he got it for $ 7.00 . he looked it up on line and it originally sold for $150.00, so I guess we got a good deal. I can't think of the name.... It was used maybe 3-4 times if that!!! he scrubbed it up real good, and made a bread, it was good. tomorrow he is going to make a wheat bread with pecans and cranberries.
Suse, Is Moses a guide dog of some sort?? you speak so very fondly of him, and now you mentioned him going into restaurants, and coffee house???
Happy Thanksgiving Y'all
Oh Linda Kay, those are so pretty. Did you paint the faces also? Maybe one year I will give it a try....they are georgous! I don't sew well though...I am chicken! lol
Suse, that sounds so easy.....and good! Think I might have to try that one day.
Katie, you made me smile BIG! I just love to dance, and thats my morning cleaning routine. Put on Elvis or such...and dance around dusting. Mom and I always did that together as a child...and when I get there will make me happy. I hope you find your brace soon. Better gett cooking for those dogs so they give it up. lol
I have most of the prep work done for the bird. Has to go in by 10:00 so we can eat at 4:00.
DH went down to MILs and she made us sweet rolls and banana bread, also have some little sausages. I forgot a few things....and sent DH over to the store. Forty minutes goes by...he calls. Can you look in the kitchen and see if my wallet is in there? Yep, on top of the fridge!!!! So he went and put all the groceries back.....and headed home. Will have to run over in the morning. I just laughed at him. He is so dang tired, starting to get a cold...and just been running non stop.
Did I tell you all "the child" hit a deer....not once...but twice. The first time was Nov. 13...it just ran into the side of her "new to her" car and dented the door. The one last Friday night....well, it did some major damage. Estimate is just a bit over $5,000....and that does not include the 1st incident....as she will have to pay additional deductible as it was a seperate incident!!! I actually feel bad for her.....worse for the deer!
Barb, how are you feeling...how are the tests coming out? Please give Norm and yourself a big Thanksgiving hug for me.
Thunder, you must be so excited Sailer Boy is home. I am knowing you are!
Thea, you still sewing up a storm? Saw that weather last night and worried about my three Canadian friends...that was nasty!!!
Mary, enjoy your day tomorrow with family.
Crissy...you too!
Bev, what are your plans? I hope you have a wonderful day.
Shirley, thinking of you and sending big hugs also. I hope you celebrate with family.
I don't want to miss anyone......Miss Betty...you must be tuckered out, you have run all week!
I have to get up to bed, early morning!
Sweet dreams & hugs,
Debbie
ohhhh I was typing while you were posting, those are beautiful Linda K.
Lovely Santas, LK!
Hello To All !
Yes BARB Many HUGS going your way... Hope you have a Good Thanksgiving planned...
My goodness Debbie You don't know how happy I am to see your post... Hope you are dancing around to Elvis very soon. So sorry about The Child's run in with the deer... I know animal lover that you are it must hurt on both levels. isnt it very maturing for them to run into difficulties and see that life throws a curve ball from time to time ? Youngest had her car towed at the movie (Twilight midnight opening) the other night... $200 later ... it can be an eye opener....That stuffing sounds Delicious !

Yes Thunder ... Moses is my guide dog. ☺ I forget everyone doesn't know. LOL I've only had this sweet fella for a little over a year. A lot of DG folks followed my story when I lost my sweet Kota a couple of years ago and went back to school and received Moses and trained with him for a month. Oh, your menu sounds wonderful! Also, I'm praying for a safe trip for your sailor! I know y'all are going to have such a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Debbie, poor girl ... and yes, poor deer!! We have a lot of those accidents down here.
Okay, gotta get in the bed ... Will need to be up early tmr to put in the ham.
Y'all have a blessed night and a blessed Thanksgiving!
~Susan
the restaurant he works in is in "the villages" retirement community, very fancy golf course restaurant.. He may get lucky and get some "well to do" customers in, and they add in tips for the kitchen crew!!! Happens once in awhile !!! and he is VERY thankful for this job, he was out of work for a very long time.. he loves having his own money, and being able to give some to us to pay his cell phone , etc....
we will have a very nice dinner when he gets home !!!
Debbie, Yikes on the deer !!! I have seen damage they can do!! not good, but cars can be fixed, as long as the child is ok...I say that is something else to be thankful for!!!
all this talk of food...I am hungry ! got to go find a snack...
HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all.
Baking pies and going to step-daughters house for dinner.
