Here's some of the people - the little fella in front is whom I'm trying to "capture" but unfortunatley the pic turned out a bit too bright - he's a werewolf, and even has the back of his shirt split to reveal his hairy back LOL
Best/worse/? Learn today? Come sit a spell, all welcome..
And that's the end! We had fun - I hafta wonder how that butterfly got home....... sure couldn't fly, and to get into a car... and can't put a coat over those wings lol
Guess she just hadda get her "wings clipped" for the way home lol
What wonderful photo's Susan, sure miss going out with hubby..half the fun was deciding what to do..that butterfly is stunning, was she at the bar looking for nectar? Love your costume..should wear it for trick or treat Monday for when the children visit. Who won the contest..Bob's hippie costume made me smile.
Katie, didnt realize you lived there for so many years..what day do you leave..me thinks that you should just leave a bag packed for all the traveling you do.
Greg and Melanie came and picked up Kyle..Kyle is working at the Rena, Noah's got a hockey game and Greg/Mel have a visitation at the funeral home..busy/busy..
Got strict orders NOT to finish the last side left of the verandah..big stained glass piece would surely get broken..said they would be back later and would finish it off..as well rather than cover screen door section where snow filters through the screen Greg said he'd bring me some of the clear panels they use at restaurants which he has at work..that way I'll have more light..so after all of this I'm back to finishing the hat..must say I'm thrilled with getting back deck closed in before snow falls...Entire yard which is big and oak/maple trees has a few inches of leaves..Kyle said he may come tomorrow and do them all..Greg went out and bought a heavy duty gas blower so think Kyle just wants to play with it. Lol
Wanted to give Kyle some $$$ for helping , wouldn't take it, said he just wanted to help but I insisted..told him to put money aside for a tank of gas for snowmobile..a smile and took it..yoni favoritism, but Kyle spends so much time with me that he should get extra perks.
Better move on otherwise after not sleeping 1/2 the night and up at 5 I'll fizzle out..once costume is done I'll tidy the craft room and call it a day....didn't I say by noon I would be on the couch, feet up..yikes no can do..
our friend Doug was the hippy, my DH Bob is the Grim Reaper :-) Isn't he a cuddly 6'3" grim reaper? LOL
We don't get trick or treaters, unfortunately. After the party we went to 2 friend's houses and showed our costumes.
We went to another friend's house before. They loved it! We even got a sucker from one house LOL guess we were the only Hallowe'en peeps they would get lol
I found a net cape with a spider web pattern at Goodwill and bought it for Tony's daughter. Then I dound a Goodwill prom dress I had with a taffeta skirt with a spider web pattern. Tony said Babara is delighted. She is fourteen.
I've made more trips than usual in the last few months. Needed to get a new a/c and a bunch of other things. Then my friend told me she was being evicted and I had to come get some things I'd bought from her. Made the trip to find she's not being evicted and I couldn't get the stuff cause it's heavy and she wouldn't let me get people to help because it was right near her medical marijuana patch. Gggrrrrrrr.
My mechanic just made a house call to see if I needed the oil in my van changed. Love the Mexican service.
I first came here in '94 bringing my mother whom I'd abducted from an abusive nursing home. A long, sick family story. I've been here steadily since about '99.
It's a beautiful day here. Temp is aobut 80 now. Very sunny with beautiufl blue skies. I'm working on plans for our rest home.
hugs, katie
Susan love the costumes.
Was thinking Susan that it was your friend Bob that went with you..yes saw the grim reaper, yikes, wouldn't want to meet up with him on a dark night.
Katie, think most of us have some family stories...you treat Tony's family just like your own, can see that!
Had a tv dinner, time for bath then will make a quick trip to Coldwater, about 15 minutes from here, Jeff/julie and the kids are heading for the scream shack..now that is an experience..kids as well as adults will enjoy. I'll meet up before their adventures and give them the costume.
A young couple won $$$ on lottery and have spent a good amount on this scream shack.. So many creatures through the acre walk..you never know if the creature you come across is real or not..at times you are quite a distance before it and others come after you...there are gruesome rooms all set up..never saw the likes of it..scream I did...
Sounds like a really spooky place!
our friend Bob wore a Winnipeg Blue Bombers sweat shirt and called himself a "fan" lol I didn't take his pic - he didn't even do a face painting job like some fans do lol
Lol..who did the person who won wearing?
LindaKay, a bunch of us went, normally something like the dream shack doesn't bother me, but to be truthful must say I had to go home and put new undies on, don't know if it was from fright or from laughing so hard.
Crissy, where have you been hanging out, miss your posts
The clown won - don't know who she was, but it was a homemade costume I bet - made to order :-)
Regardless who won, it was dressing up and having fun..if jeff soon doesn't call I'll be sound asleep. Lol
LOL
Jeff just called, ontheir way in to scream shack, all I could hear is the excitement of everyone near the shack! Said they would do the walk, maybe even a few times and then drop by, save me the trip out..can't wait to hear what the kids thought of it!
Hello to All !
Susan - Wow - you and Bob did great on your costumes ... did you do the make up ? So glad you all had fun... Sounds like a great party....
Laura - & Betty - would love to see pics of your creations... Betty - I think it's great that Kyle helps so much... he deserves a little gas money....good for you making him take it and good for him for wanting to help you ....
LK - we are having about the same weather ... was supposed to be high 60's but it was very cold today...
Katie - good luck packing.,.. I hope you get everything you need.....
Thunder - THANK YOU For the encouragement... Would be nice to imagine that the kids find their way and mature.... The ones at home ARE Getting better at helping out. I'll bet your sailor/soldier will be so glad to have the other check on the family... nice to know your brother is there to help out... maybe some heavy lifting and things she will need some help with....
Betty - DSD and her BF went to a haunted house tonight as well.... then they are coming back here...some of her friends will be visiting our house that she hasn't seen since she went to college.
They will all be coming by tonight to watch a movie....

Mary, had to go back twice and read about the boyfriends....yep,read it right!!things sure have changed since my day..lol
Omg Mary, I want to go to the voodoofest..what kinds of activity would there be? 3 times I was in new Orleans I wanted to go into the bayou hoping to see such things..maybe on my next visit. You'll have to get every detail of his evening for me
Mary, am sure I'll be putting more than one tank of gas in his snow machine ..shouldn't feel guilty that he gets more treats than the others..Caleb/Braedon I don't see much of because of their schedules but their maternal grandparents live close so am sure they spoil them ..know they want for nothing. Evens out!
Do you have to put your shelf together? That would keep you and hubby busy..
LOL Betty ! Glad to see you on the night shift ! I must have been editing right when you replied....
Yes you read right but I edited... so as not to offend.... ((HUGS))
Voodoo fest is a concert Festival.... Lots of Alternative Rock bands... Crissy would probably enjoy ! You might love Jazz Fest... that is probably the largest Festival in New Orleans... It is usually 2 weekends around the first weekend in May.... Good time for you to come and visit... Late April....still probably chilly in your area and very warm here
We put the shelf together and now I'm trying to look up all these plants I have to figure out how to care for them... bromeliads, tibouchina, dragon fruit ETC.... I hope they live despite me through the winter....
Yes - it all evens out... and I know you do so much for all the GKids...... Let's see that Jester costume !
You are all brave. I do not like halloween, never have. I don't know why, perhaps too much real life scary situations. I do like to sit and watch the little ones in their costumes and give out candy...but thats it. I don't do haunted houses or the like. lol Big chicken I am. Funny thing is though...I am facinated with cemetaries.
Quite cold here. Kids are all out, DS is working, Nate out with Friends...and The child with her current BF taking his little sister trick or treating then a movie.
I am heading to bed shortly....tired out.
Hey Deb - I don't like scary stuff at ALL either..... I'm not doing the Haunted House thing... the kids are.... NOT for me LOL.....So with you on that one.... I do find cemetaries interesting ... I'm always looking for a "Story"... like the odd inscription or such....
So Your Trick or Treat is tonight? Ours is Monday.
Hubs said we could take a couple days in Nov and head to New Orleans.... I'm about to research that little visit. Hoping we can stay at Le Pavillion and "do" the D Day museum and Cafe Du Monde and some Christmas shopping...
((HUGS))
Mary - yes, I do my own makeup, but Bob's is a latex 2-part mask, and it only calls for a bit of blacking where the skin shows.
We all seem to go to house parties, and community club parties - I no longer do the Haunted House I used to decorate my house up as.
Mary you would just love the cemetary at my parents' church in Woodstock Ontario. There is a family cyrpt that goes under the church and you can actually go in and see the deceased people. There are stories for several of the graves - some not so happy. In 1 grave laid a very young wife. Her husband was so upset by her death he went and dug her up and took her home with him. It was several weeks before anyone realized something was amiss. Both of my parents are buried there so I imagine them having games of euchre and such with all the other deceased.
Debbie I am with you. I am not too fond of all the doings that go on for Halloween. Love to watch the little ones come to the door though. Our little trick of treaters will be out on Mon night. The only time the night is changed is when Oct 31 is on a Sunday.
Stormy want out NOW!!! BBL
Dianne
YES Dianne... such an interesting little story... Susan you did a GREAT job with make up !
Hubs LOVES Halloween.... in fact one of our very first Dates was "Halloween".... LOL... Dianne - never heard of euchre... ?
Let Stormy out ! will check back in a bit. Hubs is making Beef Jerky and it smells so delicious I can't think straight !
Family been and gone..they all enjoyed themselves. Jeff brought me the laptop I had him upload with my work programs and the tease he was told the boys as they were leaving that they had been sitting next to their Christmas presents all evening..of course they wanted to come back in, but no go..not so sure I like this laptop..guess i'll ahve to use a bit more before making my final decision..think there are too many keys
here is my little helper, omg it took all my time taking the hammer from him..of course with helping build our home on the lake i did a whole lot of hammering, as well, always doing something which entails using a hammer..it just seemed such an oddity in Kyles hand..did show him how to hold a hammer and how to hit the nail..
I like the decorations for Halloween that are not too scary !! but would NEVER go to a haunted house, DO NOT like to be scared!!! nope not at all!!! I like the cute costumes, on the little kids, bugs and fairies, princesses..etc....
Yes ghosts and witches can be fun, as long as they are not too creepy.....
Old cemeteries are very interesting, inscriptions, names....dates....yup very interesting...
Great little helper there Betty, but I am thinking he will not be wanting to be called "little" for too much longer....sure seems like they grow way too fast in some ways, and sometimes ya got to wonder if they are ever gonna grow up?!!!
anybody getting snow??!! saw some pictures on the news!!! WOW !!! Y'all stay safe !!!
Great costume Betty !!!!
Meds are starting to work so won't stay and chat..thunder, was watching the news as well, wow early for blizzard conditions..we'll be looking for posts from Barb, Laura, Debbie and Andy..think Dianne, Thea and I are safe at least for tonight
Night all
No snow here! Some T and L though ..........no rain.
Very quiet out there tonight in the swamp and bush - that is often an indication a storm of some sort is on its way.
Dianne
