Come join me...
wow, talk about frost on the pumpkin..just like winter, had to let the car idle so that I could clear the windshield...on my way to Midland listened to the terrible times Connecticut are having..hope you friends to the east of me are all ok
Best/worse/? Learn today? Come sit a spell, all welcome..
Good morning everyone!
It's been quite a night here and I've got to tell you I do NOT like it!!! We got 23" of SNOW!!!!! In October!!!!!! It's not even Halloween let alone Thanksgiving and here we are with this!!!! Thepoor kids are all going to look like kids playing in the snow as they will NEED their heavy coats and mittens!! I cna't ever remember anything remotely like this and now I'm praying that it is not a sign of things to come. The Farmer's Almanac said it was going to be a severe Winter but it didn't say anything about Fall. We are so not ready for this!!!
The good thing is that all the power lines in our neighborhood are underground and we have not lost power. Over 250,000, yes, thousand, people have lost power in NH. And it's darn cold out-35*. I'm so grateful for being warm!!!!
Must go help Norm as much as I can. He needs to get our front door cleared out - we can't open the door. I'm really glad we have a slider in case we needed to get out in a hurry!!!
Stay warm everyone....
Check out the birdfeeder. The lower level is the baffle, then the ring for the birds to perch on and then the top... Poor things, we will get it cleared soon.....
Omg, drats and anything else I'm allowed to say here on DG..yikes, just hard to believe isn't it? I would imagine this snow fall broke all records for October!! shaking my head here, glad I picked you up a white chocolate and dutchie, both you are norm will need it after coming in from shoveling.
Greg was saying I was panicking for nothing because back deck wasn't closed in for the winter, going to have to show him the photo of your snowfall and will send Kyle your way, just have to get that snowmobile on a trailer...
Sure was thinking of you while listening to the news coming home from Walmart..tks for posting, you know how much we worry when storms are in our friends neighborhood!!
23"..that's more snow than one usually gets in January/February. Know you, am sure with calling of the storm you and Norm got stocked up..will Norm have to drive tomorrow? See that in some states they are calling for 'state of emergency'
Best I not complain with my frost on car window this morning..beautiful sunshine here..
think we missed spring, went right into summer, now with fall just starting it's gone right into winter...someone is not happy up there...
Again...OMG/OMG.
Barb, glad to see you still have power! We saw on the weather channel so many have record amounts of snow, and many more with no power! Stay warm please, and don't over do it!
Betty, love that jester costume, you did a wonderful job! Hard to believe you made all those diamonds!
How is your arm doing today? Did you get any sleep, you posted at 12:15, then again at 5:45.
Dianne, how are you and Warren doing today? Hope your staying warm by your fire?
Oh my goodness Barb!!! You both stay safe...that is a lot of snow. We woke up to a dusting on the roof and vehicles, along the grass line. Its gone as the sun shines.
Our Halloween is tomorrow night. I will most likely miss it. I have a doctors appt. at 4:30...she is NEVER on time. Then DH has PT at 5:30 for an hour...which means we won't get home til at least 7:15 earliest. Trick or treat is DONE at 8:00....lights off...town rules.
Supposed to get my "new to me" couch and love seat today. DD got a new set (LazyBoy) and is passing her two year old one that she HATED on to Mom. I will gladly take it!! Between kids and furbabies....mine is shot at 12 years old. Told the kids I was going to put plastic on the new one like my grandma used to do. LOL
Waving to all....stay safe!!
Debbie
Holy cow!!! Barb omg that is a lot of snow!!! Bernie and I are just speechless that you got that much snow already in one dump in OCTOBER!!
If I were with you right now I would need darn hip wadders to go on your deck to have my smokes...lol
You both take it easy with the snow removal...nice and slow...don`t want either one of you end up in the hospital because you over did it. How about you and Norm make some snow angels for us!!!
Is it really -35F?? or is it a typo? because that would be -37C !!! Those are temperatures we used to have in jan/feb when we lived way up north in Alberta!!!
Beautiful and sunny day here, nippy but beautiful.
Thoughts, hugs and prayers going out to everyone that needs them!!
Been sewing up a storm lately and I thought I show you some of the things I made.
Scarecrow Applique wall Hanging
Thea, that is so cute! Love that scarecrow!
That was supposed to be a dash Thea. It is a straight 35* not 35 below!!! I guess it is a typo though as I didn't make myself too clear....Heehee
WOW Barb that is alot of snow. Be careful and stay warm it even looks cold.
Love the costume Betty.
No snow here and stopped raining so sent DH out to sand and cut for the coat/shoe storage.
Back again...just had a yummy breakfast...bacon and eggs...uhmmm Bernie and I just polished off almost a pound of bacon...LOL...got to LOVE greasy bacon!!
All Bernie could say seeing Norm with the snow..."poor Norm...that is a lot of heavy snow to shovel"!!!
And here is a wall Hanging that Barb had pieced and I quilted and bound it...in Memory of my DM who just loved cardinals and chickadees
And last but not least a table runner I made for my dear girlfriend that had suffered brain damage last year from a fall.
She made a remarkable recovery and her Birthday is today and we are going to visit her for coffee and cake and supper tonight.
Barb I am sooooooooo glad it was a typo...lol -35F would be just tooooooo darn cold!!!!
Well I should go and clean my sewing room....looks like a tornado went through it!!!
Love and hugs to everyone...stay safe and warm
Thea
Not a lot of sleep Thea, not sure why but it seems body doesn't need it, but Lordy I do!
Love both pieces but I sure do love the birds..may I ask what you all do with all that you sew? Looking around here, not much to put out..the things that are quality pieces are hidden in the closet.
Wow barb, sitting here with sunshine coming through front window, furries laying on the rug enjoying the warmth and almost tempted to go put out the Christmas lights so won't have to do them when it's cold outside but have everything out to work on the quilts and when I think of all the weekends I've got left that I can't miss an opportunity to sew, lights can way.
Oh Debbie, Roger and I lived in a duplex when first married, the Italian couple who owned the complex had plastic over all her furniture on main floor and only used the basement for living in...you enjoy your new set, nice to see you get a treat...what color is it! How are you feeling?? Ahhh maybe because it's Halloween they might rush you both out of their office..little ones are out early, guess you would miss them..I bought pop/mini chip and chooses bars to shell out for 100.. Very few at the bottom of the street here shell out.
Thanks for kind words about the costume, not my best without having Caleb here to fit but, better than nothing and not store bought.
Laura could we have sneak preview??
Thea, went back to check the Halloween aplique, he is just too adorable..tremendous amount of work isn't it?
LindaKay saw you posted you got your blocks out, is the hand any better. Thought of you while I was sewing and had little use of arm, know how difficult getting them done must have been
Thea, omg you do such beautiful work, breathtaking!! Wish her happy birthday..
Why clean the sewing room, you know you are just going to make a mess again!!
Holey moley that is a lot of snow Barb!!! Glad you got it instead of us here in Ontario, right Betty, Thea? OK ducking and running now I heard that Norm was very good with a snowball.
Sun is shining brightly but rain is forecasted. Once again I will not trust the Weather Liars.
All I have left of the windows to clean outside are 6, for which I need a ladder so I think I will let it go until Steve gets here.
Thea that is a cute the Scarecrow walling hanging. Made me smile!
How are you feeling today Katie? When do you return to Cali?
Debbie Whooo hooo on the new to you furniture. As you know, we just bought bedroom furniture. Almost 40 years and we have never had anything that even resembled a 'set'. I am quite excited about getting it set up but of course it is on back order. Just my luck to finally find one we both agreed on and have to wait for it.
BBL
Dianne
A couple of years ago we had twenty-four inches of RAIN in a twenty-four hour period. It wasn't cold be it was everything else you would expect from that amount in that time. My rock-filled tires that pathe my roofless entryway soaked up almost all of it and I got very little in my kitchen.
I think part of my arm problem is due to too much time on the computer. I'm going to cut back and see if that helps.
T-shirt weather here. I remeber trick-or-treating in the snow in Upper Michigan. No more of that, thanks.
hugs, katie
My finger is still sore, and still can't bend it, but I have learned to do a lot of things with the other fingers. It has been almost 8 months since I broke my fingers, but I am still hoping one day I will wake up, and all of a sudden they will bend??? Maybe someday!
Thea, love the work your posting! On the circles, do you sew two circles together, turn them right side out then stitch them together? Do the have batting in them?
Good Day!!
Well, it is now Sunday and I can not remember the last time I've been able to post!!!
I'm going through another "funk" So not cool, but I am pretty proud to say, The hole IS NOT being dug..
Have to keep reminding myself, this to Shall pass. So to help it pass, I keep every minute of the day...Busy, 5:30 AM. to 9 P.M.
Helps keep my mind off my very trivial issues. So, now We are at the tail end of most of the out door stuff, I've done what i can by myself.
LOL, all the while seething, about not rendering help! Seems everyone is too busy to help with anything in and around this house, in meantime,
I still have a huge hole in the sun porch. Supposedly going to be repaired on Monday, will not hold my breath over it, Now, DH, has decided it's a whole other project that will need to wait till Spring??!! Ok, well it will have to get done when the rest of it falls through, Dunno at this point, im getting ready to beg at least a tarp be put up there before the snow starts...And I've decided, if it doesn't get done on Monday, Then I will tarp it my self...I'm tired of rain drops in the room.
I've stopped helping at the one house because the Cuz, comes and watches and Orders how things should be done! Well, says how he isn't getting paid to do anything!! H E L L O, I'm not getting paid either, but here I am. So, being the Witch that I can be, Quit working over there, and started battening down the hatches over here. My foyer, is just about cleared out of all the tools and such. I've washed every last hoodie, sweat shirt and jacket. Bagged any and everything to take to the red box...Threw away shoes and bagged the descent ones for box...Told everyone, take what ever your going to wear. Gave them a week, Then I made the decision for them!! And finally Cleaned my Craft area! Making ready for finishing up projects, that ive "put off" in order to help with the business. Dh, asked, when I started that project what were my plans, I told him, I've been working on everyone's stuff but my own, It's now Judy time!!! I am so behind it will take weeks with what i need to finish! Sigh, asked if i would continue on the new project, so can't have him in a tizzy with what needs to be done...Today is the day we need to finish up outside for now. We "hired" three of the Football players!! LOL, Jake and 2 buddies, being hired they will get all the food and drink they need and a few bucks. Mom's the go get lady and cook...which I am sure they will order up, lol again. They are digging out the shrubs and a a tree that i could not, also moving some Boulders around, they are everywhere!! In meantime, all the weeding had been removed and I've pruned up the bushes and the front trees...
Well, them boys are here and I've got to get them a nutritious snack and gather lunch!! NO breaks for them, Right now they are lugging an old wood burning Stove from the basement of house 1 to house 2!!
I have made time to at least lurk and see all that you have been up to. Come heck or high water i WILL post later today!
And i have kept you all in thoughts and prayers. I've even held a couple of prayer fires with you all in mind...
This is one of the three...
Ok, really have to run now!
Do enjoy the Day and stay warm!!
Barb and Norm, yikes, what a way to wake up, lol to bad it wasn't a dream, or in your case of all that snow a nightmare!!!
Mesmerizing Debbie and Judy!! love fires...always seem at a peace when you watch a roaring fire.feel terrible Barb saying I've been outside these past few hours without a coat..enjoyable and even more so when you know there aren't many left. That being said, let it snow, let it snow..back deck washed down, closed in, I'm feeling on top of the world knowing that I'm not doing it with freezing hands, gazebo hop off and put away, deck furniture on other 2 decks put away....lots accomplished, just takes good weTher!
Judy, sending big arm wraps..spend more time with us, we will fill the void you are feeling right now, the feeling of deep depression, you have to know we are here in support of others in good times and bad. Sounds as though you should take a course at adult community college for do it yourself lessons then you could take on all those projects that you are finding overwhelming..
LindaKay, that is a long ti e healing, how frustrating for you...do you still go fopr regular check ups??
Hmm forgot lunch, nope, didn't eat all the donuts, only a dutchie early morning so no wonder tummy is saying feed me.
Dutchies are great Betty, but you know you need at least three to tide you over!!!!
Is it still snowing Barb?
I'll save one to have for midnight snack lol
Didn't do a lot but did enough to do me in
Off for hot bath, meds and an afternoon nap
Hang on, Judy, depression sucks big time. I've no idea why mine has lifted some, just very grateful it has. I'm still in a lot of physical pain but my mood is better. I finished cleaning out a big plastic storage box that has probably been sitting in my kitchen for three years. I understand depression and lethargy.
Today I cut the sidewalls out of a bunch of tires. I'm cooking a big pot of chicken legs to give Tony help with feeding the animals while I'm gone. Trimmed my rosemary plant and my hands smell good.
I keep a box of kitchen stuff in the van so I mostly have to pack bedding and clothes. I've order some stuff online. I think I'll take the new kitty with me - give us some quality time together without the dogs.
I don;t feel so depressed and hopeless but I'm sure tired.
hugs, katie
Feel cozy in my grannie nighty anfpd rag quilt to warm me up!
Katie what will you do with the tires you've taken the sides off? For gardening purposes..had a horse swing done from old tires, kids just loved it.
Bet you found treasured in that bin you didn't even known you had..
Drats, just let Sailor out while I had my bath and see her walking up the road, gotta run!
Just fell asleep and telephone rang twice..lol
Ann called, she just got home from Parry Sound..did I tell you her SIL passed away Friday? Ann and the girls went and did funeral arrangements, been keeping her brother together, he is a great worry to her..told her he just might surprise them. She had a Doppler scheduled for tomorrow so will have that done in Midland then head north right after. Funeral is Tuesday morning..
She wanted to go to Buffalo and Hamburg N.Y. Craft show this weekend and she is hoping to still do so..says she needs something to take her mind off things.
Playing it by ear!
Betty - are you sleeping now? If not, I'll call you, but don't want to wake you up just when you nod off.......
Poor Ann - she's had so much on her plate lately, caring for her DH, then losing him, and then all the other illnesses and deaths..... so much to contend with!!!
Hello To All !
OMG Barb ! Just *snow* boggles my mind. It's not common for us to get it at all, although the weather has been very 'different' the last few years. but to get SO MUCH! I've read all.... Judy please pop in from time to time... I would hope posting/venting on here might help the doldrums... Although it might just be my little selfish way to hope to hear from you more often.
Thea - you are so talented... Love your creations... the runner is so festive...
Katie - sounds like you have thought of everything for your trip... will you be able to check in on us ?
Debbie - Congrats on the new furniture !
I spent the day trying to sort through all the SWAP plants... What should come inside... looking up plants on the web. Re-potting some. I've read so much about these plants and disappointed that very little is sinking in... But I'm doing the best I can. I *hope* I got most inside that needed to... supposed to get down to 38 tonight then warm up.
I sure hope I don't kill any... or that MOST survive me and the winter months.... Most inside have gone on my new rack.
((HUGS))
Mary
Katie, how do you take pets across the border? They are not allowed here unless you put them in quarantine for 3 months, and that cost a lot of money!
Mary, hope you get your plants all sorted out! That is a job!
Betty, so sorry to hear about Ann's SIL passing! Sending hugs for all of them.
Sounds like you have been very busy today, putting things away? Did you get the Christmas lights up?
Evening all, had a good afternoon sleep, no LindaKay didn't get the lights out, totes are heavy so I thought better of it. Woke up about 8:30 pm and sauntered downstairs to make sure furries had food. By then I was wide awake, looked at the sewing machine, looked at the projects and thought why not..
Got all the 'x's done on the daisies' 69 in total for mom's rag quilt, have 3 panels done with quilt stippling and had I had a few more supplies goodness knows I might have sewn all night, it was that kind of night, sewing was just going so right..my goal is to attach a panel a night to the quilt and then bring it to work and embellish..goal by next time next week is to have 12 panels done and then only have to deal with ampnother twelve, but seeing it's suppose to be for me won't matter if I don't finish it!
When I look at my weekend I see I've accomplished much, of course had some help..
Susan, sorry was sleeping and just grabbed the iPad. Would have been nice chatting.
Mary, that is quite cold for you isn't it? Hope you don't lose your pretties. You are so committed to learning all about the species..you would make a great master gardener.
Me, if I like the look of the plant I simply find a spot in the garden, if it survives it survives.
Lol
Calling it a night,again
Hope you've all enjoyed your day
Oooh, happy haloween!
Morning sleepy heads, oh how I envy you. Lol
Coffee is on, and guess left over donuts, none of you took one yesterday morning?
Been up since 4:45am, as I was tossing and turning decided to make myself productive and productive I was..got my 40 squares of yellow cut and 'X'd for mom's rag quilt done, all that remains is the blue and I'm ready to put together..
Don't feel so overwhelmed by what I have ahead of me. Have a few bags of things that will even put me one step further thanni can do from work.
Barb, sure hope it's not snowing, will have to watch the news..been watching Tron, just too lazy to turn the channel. Lol. Tell Norm to stay safe, hate the thoughts of his driving in it.
Off to check the weather, wondering if my trick or treaures will have good weather or not.
Debbie, hugs and prayers coming your way, hope your and Paul's appts go well this afternoon..how is the new living room set?
Great job Linda!!! That must have taken quite a bit of time!!!
Thanks Barb.
It took about 30 minutes. I took a jigsaw blade, and told hubby to put it in a pair of vice grips as a handle. So much easier to use than a small knife trying to do all those small places!
Good morning to all.
Love the pumpkin Linda.
Withou going into boring details, I'm hoping that disasters come in three's. Lost a third friend yuesterday - and after twenty-five years it's hard. Followed by nightmares about a woman who is a friend but whose husband disllikes me.
Glad to be up and awake. Finishing packing for my trip. I will stay in touch. My mail service has computers.
I'll maybe do 200 miles today then sleep a lot, then feel better.
Another story that will bond me more to Tony.
Think I need a good cry. Maybe tonight.
hugs, katie
Katie so sorry to hear about your friend.
Safe travels.
Sending hugs your way Katie..difficult for sure. If you do 200 miles in one day how many more will you have to do??
Linda Kay, wow and double wow, kids will absolutely love it, can see the candle flickering in the window tonight. Now that was a creative way of doing it..
Laura, looking for sneak previous of DH's and your work on the door coat hanger??? Bet the kids are excited to trick or treat tonight? big to do about kids wearing costumes to school today, thinks it's a lot of to do about nothing.
Hard day at the office again
BOOO Morning!
Happy Halloween Everyone.
Hope you all have lots of happy tricksters come for some goodies.
Well not too late in decorating, lol Kids put up a few decoration last night and carved their pumpkins.
Wow, first time in ages we were all home at one time. So called a family meeting...Wahla, help has been rendered!! Awoke to a nice clean kitchen, knocking off about an 45 minutes for me.
Thank you for the Arm Wrap Betty and support from you All. I just have to learn, to let the small stuff go even though it drives me bonkers! I did take few photo's of our project yesterday. Will load in a little bit.
Today I am digging a big hole!! Remember that gorgeous Japanese Maple? Well it is now going to grace my back yard!! I am so excited about that because i have always dreamed of having one, they are just spectacular. Those boys sure worked hard. Jerry said later, they did the work only because it was for Mrs S! What a sweetheart. LOL, when they got to the house they said oh yeah will take fie minutes, ROFLOL 3 hours later, they were sure tuckered out. Meanwhile, I finished up some pruning. All our hard work sure paid off. The neighbor came out to see us and said how wonderful the place looks!!
OK, let me load some pictures.
Oh Debbie, you can't imagine the smile on my face to read about your bonfire!! I am thrilled to pieces to hear you are wiggling around.
You bet they are mezmorizing...
Wow, so glad you got a great leap on Mom's quilt Betty.
Ohh, I'll be back in a few have to move all the vehicles back to driveway! We are having it resurfaced, but now they are coming tomorrow.
Great Pumpkin Linda kay!!
This one is from last year...
Birdie, Helping out.
What a fantastic picture Judy!! Skittles looks she really is enjoying herself.
I'm so glad to hear that help is on hand now for you. It's hard when you need to keep reminding them that they have house responsibilities too. Some of the kids today think they are "entitled" to all they want with no effort or cost on their part. You and Steve do the right thing by expecting them to contribute to the house. It will make great adults out of them.
The house sounds like it is coming along nicely. Can't wait to see pictures. It is so great when someone acknowledges what you do such as that neighbor. It gives a certain amount of pride that is well earned.
We are still under the snow here. The sun is out and making a valliant effort to help clear it away but I still have about 15-18" on the ground!!! Trick or treating has been cancelled in a lot of places here due to very narrow roads and high snowbanks. I think they do something for the kids at the school...
Time for me to get to work around here myself. Have a great day everyone....
Judy, love that pumpkin with skittles helping out! :)
Barb, sure hope all the snow melts soon! Bet the kids are upset that Halloween is canceled?
Betty, love the colors of that fabric!
