Betty so sorry to hear of computer problems.
SNOW is on the way. It is a cold and damp 46 right now.
Cornbeef and cabbge cooking.
Wavying to all.

Verona, ON

Oh yum Laura - corned beef and cabbage. Our favourite boiled dinner!!!

Absolutely gorgeous day here today. About 45*F and sunny. Moved a stack of wood closer to the house. We seem to be burning more wood this year but we have lots on hand.

When do you need this costume done by Betty? I hope you are not going to say tonight! You need to rest, especially with a doozy of a headache. Take it from me the Headache Queen - REST!!

Mary how are things at work this week? I've been wondering if they were going to call you in for another unwarrented chat.

Not much excitement going on for me right now so what is everyone up to this weekend? LK you always seem to be going to some neat event here and there. I so enjoy hearing about them.

Crissy how are things on the home front?

Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

I'm eating cereal right now, trade for some corn beef and cabbage!!
I'll be generous, you can have the snow. Lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

thea, took a few excedrin migrain, have it under control as well as the costume..need to make the funny hat, also same for staff ..made it on the large side but with pulling elastic in will do for this year and perhaps a few more!

Rather like all the glitter..hard when you are making something without a pattern, should have invested in one.

Bright here, fireplace on to take the chill off, Kyle was to come over after school to help with closing in back verandah but Greg has been working all week on a ship docked in Midland so tonight the entire family are having supper on it and taking a tour so asked if it could be tomorrow?

Not sure when I will be meeting up with Jeff, waiting for him to call..sure would like to be done tonight so I can clean my mess..fabric threads all over the place.

Yep, always a treat to hear what everyone is doing, just got to be more exciting than what I am doing. Lol

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, please take it easy and feel better.

I have news.

My right toes are wiggling! Had just the big toe a couple days ago...but today there are about 3 of them with a little movement. SLOW but moving in the right direction.

Hugs to all,
Debbie

mulege, Mexico

While looking at shoulder harnesses on eBay I saw a hood which is supposed to relieve migrains. For several of the years I lived in Berkeley I had a neighbor who got migrains and I used to know when she was getting one. I'd go over, confirm she had one coming on and say call me if you need anything. It was kind of strange.

I think I'm coming out of the depression I've been in. We have so many things to do. None of them urgent but it gets overwhelming, especially with a bad knee and then a bad arm, too. Tackling an entirely new project - the front garden - began to seem like one too many projects. However, it's coming along well and it's not going to take forever to get it to where we can put in some plants and some garden art. We are also getting a ton of shredded leaves and branches to make compost. I know neighbor Tom thinks we're weird because we don't just take the "trash" to the dump, but his wife Dana was delighted to get a bag full of the shredded leaves.

I've been getting some of the small jobs done. Potted up some seedlings. Cooked abig pot of food for the dogs. Got the van almost clean. Tony is having car trouble and might not be here tomorrow. Gives me two days to finish the cleaning and begin packing.

I might not go up to San Ramon to see Amma. I'll see how I feel when I'm in San Diego. I hate to miss a month of our greatest weather and I'd like to do some Christmas crafts. If I'm supposed to see Amma, I think I'll know (like when my neighbor was getting a migraine).

God bless you all for hangin with me through the bad times. And the good.

hugs, katie

P.S. The dogs seem OK without a clear leader. They are having fun playing together.

Lexington Park, MD

Debbie that is GREAT.
No plans here for the weekend just sewing and sewing.
Oh and football of course.

Victoria Harbour, ON

What fantastic news Debbie, that means that the rest will be wiggling soon! Isn't it amazing, who would have thought a few months ago that wiggling toes would so thrill us!
Perhaps the PT and swimming is working and of course you minding what the doctor has said. Somehow I cannot believe you are..bet you are still trying to do for Paul and the kids. Speaking of Paul, how is he after his surgery?

Katie, with the nicer weather and your getting so much accomplished is likely helping your depression.you've certainly put in a lot of miles these past months, and here I thought I was the roadrunner. Do you make all your pet food?

sailor has from time to time lost her balance..Cathy mentioned when she called the other day that she had been bringing Sailor for walks, maybe it's too much for her. Cathy hasn't been well so I haven't been seeing her as much so tomorrow might drop in to say hi to her and her parents and just casually mentioned that long walks are helping her.

This afternoon as Darlene was leaving I saw Theresa, next door neighbor with her little granddaughter...seems when they went to court the other day the judge asked the maternal grandmother to leave the room and said if nothing was resolved between them that he would have them in Barrie family court by Monday. And the court would say what is in best interest of the baby, guess that frightened her so the young mother agreed to co-parenting..grandparents (my neighbors and their son Kyle) get her 1/2 time and the bio
mom the other half..Theresa was just thrilled with the outcome.

Laura, does the sewing never end? Lol. What are you sewing?

Verona, ON

Hurrah for the wigglies Debbie!!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Not much going on here either. Gonna be a quiet week end here.

Debbie, so glad to hear you have 3 toes wiggling! That is a good sign! :)

Katie, glad to hear your coming out of your depression, please feel free to post here when ever you need to. Sounds like your keeping quite busy with the clearing of the new garden area?

Betty, make sure your eating right please? Please post the costumes when you get get them done?
Did you ever get pictures of the scarfs yountold us about?

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I have honestly not been able to do much. My balance is shot, as the upper muscles are out of wack also. I have attempted to stand at the counter and cook, and it is a process. The wheel chair is too low, the walker not stable enough. We have a taller chair...which cuts into the back of my legs.....and to put feet on rungs is a no go as you can't feel them and they slide off....(yes I did that). SO, I help chop and put things together....but Shane has mostly been doing all the cooking.

Paul is healing nicely with his eye. Still blurry...but only 48 hours out from surgery. Doctor said the eye looked as it should right now.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad to hear Paul's doing ok..how long will he be off? Lordy , Shane sure is a sweetie, helping you as he is. Your almost son, (sorry my memory not working right to know his name) how is he doing, still working?

LindaKay, only one this year, a jester for Caleb, that's enough for this year.

Thought I posted photo -close-up..will do

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, Paul goes back to work Monday. Which is also his "last day" for the company and starts the new on on Tuesday. Mixed feelings all the way around.

Nate is still working, and he is helpful in other ways. He can't cook unless it is ramen noodles. But helps clean the kitchen and pick up around the house. He is working 20 to 30 hours a week. He is a very loving kid, not unlike him to just come up and give me a hug.
Today when I showed him my toes wiggling....he actually teared up.

The child starts her new job Monday...I can't wait.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ohh didn't realize the job issue had been settled? It's great he was kept on isn't it?let's hope that is the last eye operation, Nate, tell him I think he's a blessing in your life and think he should come over my side of the border..

Want to fall asleep but no go..

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Glad for the toe wiggling!!
Aren't you glad, Betty, that there's only one costume to make?
Happy that Paul's eye is "right on track" :-)

Bob & I are dressing up for a Hallowe'en party tonight at our Community Pub - should be a howl!
I'm a Vampire, and he's The Grim Reaper!
I'll post pics later!

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !
Susan - can't wait to see the pics !

OH OH DEBBIE ! SUCH GOOD NEWS ! I'm shouting for Joy ! :o) Thank God !

Katie - glad you are coming out of depression... you get so much done... it's unbelievable... hope you can accomplish all you need before your trip..... LK love the orange rolls !

Dianne...((HUGS)) Hope you and Santa Warren had a good day. I did get fussed at by my immediate boss on Wednesday but I actually stood up for myself. And she has been 'nice' ever since... Went to her boss with a question after work ended today... and got the answer I needed. I hope I'm learning how to deal with these people. I do think when I stay 'late' after hours to ask a question it seems to work in my favor.....Thank you for caring to ask though... that means a lot to me....
I hope we can go on our morning walk tomorrow because I have NOTHING planned for the weekend and after the whirlwind of last weekend... I really need some PEACE

DSD1 came home (second time) from college for this weekend. I had Spaghetti in the Crock pot....DS helped me throw it together quickly on my lunch break. We had a nice dinner with her BF, and DS's GF (youngest had gone to the High School game).

It is simply amazing how much DSD1 has matured having "moved" away. Debbie - did you find that as well? Betty I'm remembering you telling me to "be patient".
DSD1 is saying/doing things I always dreamed I'd hear and see but never thought I would...

((HUGS))
Mary

Verona, ON

Looking forward to seeing the pics Susan.

We don't get any trick or treaters much to my disappointment. When we lived in Toronto we would have over 100 and neighbours would make our house the last stop so we could all have a drink together to celebrate that they survived another year of wandering hither and yon watching their kids beg for candy as 1 guy used to put it .Before you knew it DH would be on the floor trading 'his' candy with the kids - it was quite the sight to watch.

Betty is it Asperger that Kyle suffers from? Interesting article in the local rag talking about a fellow near me who has it. Two summers ago he swam Lake Ontario to bring attention and more funding to the people who suffer from this. Now that he is an adult he has a very responsible position at RMC doing research and he wants the public to know that persons with Aspergers can hold down a good job.

Barb, Judy - are you in line for this winter storm moving in from Colorado? My geography knowledge is terrible!

Mary where are you????

Dianne

Verona, ON

There you are Mary, I was alookin for you! Yep all ready for the morning walk, bring some gloves and a hat though as it is quite chilly when we start out. If I am chilly you will be frozen lol Maybe we will get to see the wild turkeys that have been around the last 3 days. There are at least 14 of them in this group and watching them makes me laugh. Stormy was so intent on watching them that we was surprized by the fool hen he flushed out of some bushes. What a look he had on his face!!

Baton Rouge, LA

Dianne....
DITTO: "If you are chilly then I will be Frozen" ! !!! MUCH so.... we had the coldest weater today so far .... highs in the 60's.... I'm wrapped up in a blanket and wondering where my space heater is... OH what a laugh at Stormy ! Belle has been wanting to attack a Giant Spider Halloween decoration a few doors down and thought she was staring at it out the window yesterday... when I saw what she was really staring at... a very young cat actually came up to the window... Belle was just beside herself !

I remember good Halloween times like that. Not so much these days... but I think our Trick or Treat is supposed to be Monday.....

Verona, ON

Ours too. Often we have had wet snow or feezing rain for the kids. Snow is fine freezing rain/sleet is treacherous. In fact freezing rain is the only time I will not drive. Grew up in a snowbelt area so snow storms don't bother me ( doesn't mean I like them though) but in sleet you have no control of your vehicle.

LOL at Belle! And what a brave kitten to come so close. Tundra, my last male Sammie used to gaze at himself in the oven window - took me a bit to figure out what he was doing.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

big big HOORAY for Debbie's wiggle toes ^_^ that is fantastic news!!! and so glad Shane is doing the cooking, and Nate helping too...see you were there for him when he needed you!! and now he is there to join in and help you !!! maybe you are each others earthly angels??!! sure hope the new job/company works out for Paul, and the new job for the child too!!!

Betty, hope they get you figured out, and an easy cure .....lots of hugs...

Dianne, so very happy that the day was short for you and Warren...It sure is freezing in those radiation depts..I spent the day in one yesterday. Hubs had to have a procedure....not a fun one at all, 24 hours no pain meds, 20 hours nothing to eat or drink, a zillion needles stuck into his spine!!!! was NOT a fun day !!! neurologist trying to decide if another surgery is in the near future??!! 5 bad discs.
well not quite a zillion, but a bunch, and it was not pleasant.

Dianne, my heart goes out to you. More than before...My DH is in constant pain, and that is hard for me to deal with sometimes, I can only imagine what it is you are feeling every minute, of every day! Hugs and love to you, come and Bit#@, and yell at us any time you need...as I sure know, I think I may just explode sometimes, and I come over here and "listen" to everyone's day, and I gripe about mine, or share my happiness, and all gets better......

WE GET BY WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM OUR FRIENDS ^_^ and my Best friends are right here....

Mary, seems they all eventually "grow up", sure does take some of them a bit longer than others though...And it kinda sneaks up on ya !!! My youngest, ( 23 next month) has been very amazing the last few months. After being out of work for a very long time, then finally getting a job, and one he likes!! he has been fantastic, saving money...paying bills, still helping around the house. Much less complaining about helping around the house !!! just amazing !!

Katie, sure hope your arm feels better soon too!!!

Laura, enjoy the sewing..I feel like I have been away from my machine for so long, I don't know if I will remember how to thread it!!??!!!

Linda K, so nice of you to ALWAYS be here with a yummy cup of coffee, and a tasty treat...is the drought "done" down there??? seems I remember hearing of a bit more rain on and off?? my sailor has a buddy from Texas, and he has said that much of the family ranch is in very bad shape, they had to bring in feed for their cattle, and what used to be gorgeous fields of grass and flowers is now just sand :( so very sad ...I would imagine it will take a very long time to recover from something like that??!!

Mary that reminds me.....My Sailor just bought a truck!!! first vehicle he bought by himself!! with out Dad there to check it out for him, give his opinion..etc.... another one of those growing up steps :) so now if he gets 3-4 days off, he can come home for a visit!! he will be able to go to see his sister in law, and Niece !!! as they are close enough for an over- nighter!!! DIL says she can't wait to hear the stories that that will produce around the neighborhood !! Sailor visiting, while soldier is away !!! or something along the lines of "gee?? Did that soldier change over to the Navy??!!! they did not look a lot alike when they were younger, but put them both in digital camo!!! and WOW !!! definitely brothers! !

hope Y'all are having sweet dreams, and wake up to a great new day!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

How wonderful to wake and reach for the iPad and see you all chatting!!

Susan, looking at the clock and imagine you are almost at your best..isn't that when vampires come out to feast?

Dianne, most years I see a lot of turkeys along the route I take for work but this year they must be hiding. What I am seeing though are more birds, like Thunder says, zillions and zillions! Nodding my head at the rain/freezing rain and snow for Halloween, haven't checked what the weather will be for Monday.. I made the jester costume large enough to accommodate winter coat. I get between 75-100..come in 2 masses, the little ones all dressed in adorable costumes, then the older group just out for treats wearing but a hat if that to play the part of a teen, what is with that?? Miss the times when you could make special treats like candy apples, but it's now a no/ no and rightly so..safety comes first. Makes it easy, pop/chips/mini chocolate bars. Only bad thing is if they are not given out guess who eats the leftovers? How was Warren today?

Mary, clapping here that you stood up for yourself! sometimes that's all it takes for some to back down.so glad that you are finally getting the respect you deserve..can just imagine how that must make you feel..ohhh happy days. Belle, lol, imagine the rucus if you were to open the door.

Thunder so sorry to hear dh is in such chronic pain..even with all the technology there isn't a lot you can so for the disks is there? Guess fusing is out of the question? Yes, neighborhoods are renown for taking special interest in the goings on ..you must be so proud of Sailor boy!! Your DIL /granddaughter will be thrilled having him visit.

Dianne, meant to comment that Kyle will do well in the work force..committed to whatever he undertakes! Would have loved to see the article..which paper? Perhaps I can access on line?

Hmmm odd I'm smelling popcorn, odd! Oh Sailor is laying beside me , perhaps she is tooting but popcorn smell?

Linda Kay, listening to the news and they said Texas got snow, surely not in your neck of the woods..

Katie, they just made reference on the news that a Canadian is being charged over in Mexico, apparently they noticed broken windshield, body in car..Canadian said he was a pedestrian, hit him, decided to get him to the hospital and lst his way..think they said he was dead...guess he's in mega trouble.

Bev, how is Scotty doing and your sister?

Drats should be sleeping, will give it a try

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just before I do though wanted to say I hope all is well Barb, worried about you..know you are in good hands with Norman...miss you

Judy, is Steve not giving you a break? Lol. Hard task master but guess a lot has to be done before bad weather sets in

Andy, getting more bike riding in?

All others I've not responded to, waving....catch you tomorrow, oops guess catch you later today

Lexington Park, MD

Goodmorning to all.
Coffee is on.
Raining and cold here.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Thanks for the coffee Laura.
Thunder, we have had a few days of rain, but were still 15 inches short for the year. The farmers are in a lot of trouble, most of them sold off the livestock, as feed and hay is so expensive this year. Same reason cotton fabric went up, just so expensive to water all the fields.
Betty, my son up in Amarillo, TX, got 4 inches of snow on Thursday. I told him to keep it up that way. It is 40 degree's this morning, but supposed to be 70 this afternoon.

Victoria Harbour, ON

I've got banana muffins to go with your coffee Laura...
Not raining but imagine it's cold, toasty inside though

Waiting for mid morning when it warms up, few more things need to be done before snow comes..seems it's just a few days coming!

In the meantime I'm finishing costume

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow LindaKay, drastic change for the body to adapt. How far is Amarrilo from you..so many Canadians from my area spend winters in Texas, would have thought it would be warmer

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, it is an 8 hour drive, so they are a ways from here.
We do get a lot of "snowbirds" here from all over the place. They spend most of the winter here.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Maybe from my neck of the woods they are!

Sun is shinning, will be a beautiful day either to play outside or take a ride...

Lexington Park, MD

Whatever you do enjoy the sunshine.
DH is working on the door converted to a coat/shoe rack.
Yes it is raining out so some wood cuts to happen inside.YEA

Victoria Harbour, ON

Laura, you will be dusting for sure..excited to see it, will it be stained or painted?? Tell him to mark down instructions as he goes because we'll all want one.. Me for sure..

Was looking at antique cupboard at entrance Nd was thinking 'when do I have time to paint so it will look shabby shic?' not till after Christmas bot one of the door coat hanger/benches would fit perfectly..well, costume is quite heavy, hard when you don't have the kids around for fitting..started the hat, then on to the tou jester that he'll carry

Just vacuumed washed upstairs floors, dusted..couldn't take threads all over..figure by noon I'll have my feet up!!

Hope you are enjoying your day

Betty I painted the door black then put on crackle and then painted barn red. Looks good so far.
I will post pics when done.DH making this up as he goes along. Created his own drawings .

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will be wAiting to see end results...you could also sand down some of the areas that normally would be used to give it a more aged look

Kyle just called, coming over to help with closing in back deck that should have been done weeks avgo and few other chores..guess I'd best dress warm because sun has gone in and it's get colder

mulege, Mexico

It's so chilly here I had to put on a bathrobe over my t-shirt nightshirt. lol. This is when I get rewarded for surviving our summer. Possibly part of why my depression is lifting.

I just read "The Second Opinion" by Michael Palmer. The heroine has Aspergers. At the author's afterword, Palmer said he has a son who has Aspergers. Not a great book but interesting. I'm going to give it to my doctor as it has some interesting comments about computerized medicine.

When I bought my property it had been neglected for many years (maybe 15-20) and most of the trees looked dead. A lot of them came back. I'm especially grateful for the big flame tree. One of its babies is two years old and about 25 feet tall. I'm hoping it will bloom next year. (It has had constant water so it's had optimal growth). The desert can be dry for months, even years, then comes back when it rains. It's not good for cattle, though. We now have taken out a couple of the original trees and cut back others.

I'm still waking up.

Debbie - wiggling your toes. You go girl!!

hugs all around, katie

I got the van cleaned and ready to pack. Now I just have to remember what to take with me.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

I forget something...every time I go some where :( good luck with the packing Katie, and have a safe trip...

Laura I can't wait to see your new furniture!!! might be something good to put on my breezeway always shoes all over the place!!!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

mmmm banana bread......
Betty - shame on you - I'm ALWAYS at my best LOL LOL LOL
How are you feeling now? You've been up for awhile and I guess you're loosening up? How's the headache?
Katie - hope your arm is feeling better all the time!
Talk about chilly - it's going to get to a high of ....... are you ready for this?.......... +6c! wooooo hooooooo it's 0c now and it's 10:15!

I haven't even looked at the pics I took last night, but here goes...
Here's Bob - doesn't he look cuddly? LOL At 6'3" when he stands, he looms over people - LOL especially the little kiddies.... o my - some of them were stopping by and staring........ lol
