I was up this am at 6:00 making scones (made a previous batch last night at 10pm) for our Office Potluck today.
Have some fresh strawberries, and Devon cream and strawberry jam to go with them (put on jam, then cream, then sliced strawberries - yum and decadent!)

I didn't get home after work (except for a brief 1/2 hr at home after work) until 9:45 last night....... so busy!!

Your new office colleagues will be thanking God for having you on board Susan. Besides your efficiency, they'd be grateful for your scones.

Beautiful day for a game. Our's is an away game, but DH & I will travel the 1/2 hour, lol..lo & behold, we have friends in the area so will go and visit before the game.
LOL, Most of the Linemen have mo-hawks! Jake decided not as it's too cold to be bald, lol again...But he said if they don't win he'll do the Mo-haw for Wrestling, which begins right after football. He can hardly wait.

Anyhow, I've been insanely busy, Had several bouts of being in a funk, but making good progress. almost done for the Season...Then I can play, But, I DO Think about all of you a daily basis...Good thoughts, Prayers and Many Arm Wraps.

Last night, We held a memorial Fire. It brought tears to my eyes...As it was Breenie's idea!! Memorial was for her BF Ryan's father. I was so touched, she set the whole thing up, photo's, candles and tobacco. It was quite nice, So, I also made it a prayer fire as well.

Up bright and early this morning to go to a horse show. One of Kim's students (and our vet's daughter) was riding. 5:30 came early and was chilly--46!!! Was a really nice event and Taylor won many ribbons along with Grand Champion and Reserve Champion in the events. She was riding an absolutely beautiful grey who is a descendant of Seattle Slew--no clue how or where they got the horse. I was in total awe of the smoothness of the riders and horses--well not all. There was one horse who really was giving the ride a "fit" refusing to jump and almost through the rider at one point. All in all it was well worth getting up early and venturing out.

Hi - well, it's Daylight Savings night for us, so gain 1 hour....

Marion - that must have been exciting! I haven't been to a dressage for a looooong time, and it's always exciting.

oldest DD is up to her old tricks and i m just going to have to let go. She has a boyfriend who is telling her things ect... he only gets the " victims side of the story" she is such a victim,,, it is crazy ! so i tried to rationalize with crazy and i lost the battle. I hang my head in defeat .
so i joined the gym and am going to take care of myself. If she gets kicked out of the apt then i will give her the directions to the homeless shelter. or a bus ticket back to CA.

Good for you, Sue - Tough Love is sometimes necessary. I went through the whole Tough Love thing myself, with my son - he's now 33 and I haven't heard from him for 13 years. However, I saw him on Facebook and he's working as a chef in Vancouver, BC. I sent him a message saying "I hope you're fine, we're in Calgary now". He blocked me from sending messages anymore. Oh well..... 1 1/2 months later I got a message from Tele Mate (for inmates) saying I could take the collect call if I wanted to (it was while I was at work so couldn't) and he has been in jail before, but then I thought - 'He doesn't know my ph# anyway, so it couldn't be him' and the message didn't say who the inmate was. I had the option to select "do not accept calls from this inmate again" so I took it - Tough Love.
If he were to come to me honestly, and without the cons he usually tries to put on everyone, I would forgive him 70x70 - in fact I've already forgiven him - he is my son after all, and I love him - but I will not put myself down by accepting his guile or mistreatment.
Sue - none of us needs to be treated badly, or like 2nd class citizens. I feel for you, and will keep you in my prayers that you know how you are loved and that I pray for your strength.

Thanks Susan . i m sorry to hear of your son's life choices. That is not a easy one. We can only do so much for them . We have to forgive ourselves first don't we. I guess i m a true optimistic and hope for a relationship with her but honestly i don't think it will ever happen.
We took a huge chance letting her come here and well ??? i honestly thought it would be better for her and that she would finely realize , we are the ones that are here to help her manage her life ect.... but she just won't believe it or will just put us in bad situations we can't do anything to help. She wants to be with this guy ,well he can have her. Then once again he will dump her and she will come running for our help and i will have to turn her away. Its just a cruel behaviour she has and we can't do anything about it. She just doesn't get it !

Sue, I just don't understand after all you've done, it's you that's treated as the enemy, and it hurts when a stranger can just waltz in an undo what's best for your DD.
Susan is right, no one deserves to be treated as inferior citizens, not even your worse enemy.
But I honestly think your DD is actually resenting your help which she knows is the best thing for her, and when this guy comes along.. it just adds fuel to her flaming resentment. I feel your frustrations sistah. If she doesn't have any mental issues, it would have been easier for you to follow through tough love. Is she seeing a therapist? Maybe you could talk to her therapist/doctor?

Yes Marion, it took an overtime!! No touchdowns from both teams, all field goals. .
The teams were mirror images of each other except for special teams. We won with our special team.

it's 1:15 and I'm awake - peacefully sleeping when DH woke me up to fix a Trojan on his system (if only he'd shut off his system and I could fix it TOMORROW!) Well, he panicked and I'm now awake - he made me some tea, anyway.....

well my DD does have mental issue's but honestly i m not using that as a excuse anymore. I used too.
YOu are all right on the mark with what is going on.
i do take her to counseling but she just wants to be a victim and she just sits there being an "snot " to the therapyst. so its never a half win either direction.
i know i can't argue with crazy but i can't even get 2% half way mark. oui vhey.
i will not do the holidays with her , nor will i buy any gifts for her for the holidays. She wants to be a crazy, snotty brat , then wellllll..... i just think its best .

I have a cousin who I was very close to growing up then she dropped out of high school and got with the wrong crowd. Well, she decided that that was not a good life so she dropped those friends, with my help, got her GED, then moved to Sacramento (we lived 1 1/2 hrs south of Sacramento) and got with a worse crowd and remained strung out for 20 someodd years. There was nothing I could do but back away and let her ruin her life, which she did. Her mom and step-dad had full custody of her 3 kids because she couldn't take care of them, then suddenly within about a 6 month period the father of her first born died, then her dad died, then her mom died, and step-dad is a complete idiot and can't take care of himself, let alone 3 kids. I guess this made her wake up that she had no one left to babysit her bad choice, her mom used to always say, "Poor Kari" anytime she went to jail and no one else feels sorry for her, so she put herself in rehab and has been clean for 2 years now, and yes she does have full custody of her kids now. The oldest should be close to 18 if she's not, and the other two are quite a bit younger. She just got a job and bought a car and now that she's 40 years old she's finally attempting to live life like an adult.
