Good for you, Sue - Tough Love is sometimes necessary. I went through the whole Tough Love thing myself, with my son - he's now 33 and I haven't heard from him for 13 years. However, I saw him on Facebook and he's working as a chef in Vancouver, BC. I sent him a message saying "I hope you're fine, we're in Calgary now". He blocked me from sending messages anymore. Oh well..... 1 1/2 months later I got a message from Tele Mate (for inmates) saying I could take the collect call if I wanted to (it was while I was at work so couldn't) and he has been in jail before, but then I thought - 'He doesn't know my ph# anyway, so it couldn't be him' and the message didn't say who the inmate was. I had the option to select "do not accept calls from this inmate again" so I took it - Tough Love.
If he were to come to me honestly, and without the cons he usually tries to put on everyone, I would forgive him 70x70 - in fact I've already forgiven him - he is my son after all, and I love him - but I will not put myself down by accepting his guile or mistreatment.
Sue - none of us needs to be treated badly, or like 2nd class citizens. I feel for you, and will keep you in my prayers that you know how you are loved and that I pray for your strength.
