Hello everyone,
No, Jen , I am not out on the water. Thought about it but I have been really busy getting Horse Shoes done for the volunteers to sell at the Horse Show this Sat. I also had some serious irrigating to do and it takes quite awhile for that. Plus there have been trips to the bank, chiropractor, visits from the Police about the condition of the property next door , etc. etc. etc.
The beaches are being invaded by salps. They are ugly little blobs and they do not hurt you but they are gross. I do not go near the beach during the summer months when all the tourists are here. It take too long to get there because of the traffic. Usually I can be on the beach in 30 minutes but now it takes almost twice as long or more, so, No beach for me. Life is a Beach especially in the summer. LOL
Good to see you all posting and enjoying your gardens. I feel like I am on vacation. Nothing to sell except for a few stragglers and now the heat is almost to the point where I will have to stop shipping
Enjoy your 4th of July everyone. We will have the usual BBQ, nothing special. I will make the pulled pork, we will also have the veggie and chicken KBobs , hot dogs , potato salad, Macaroni Salad and melon balls for desert. Plus the snack stuff and beverages.
You are all invited.
Have paper work to do. First of the month crappy stuff. Have a great Day. JB
Plant Propagation part XXXVIII
Sure, JB just tease me with the delicious food. You know dang well I can't have it, except for the veggies. Thanks a lot. I am with Jen, you should be out on the water with all those thingies surrounding you. Then you couldn't tempt anyone. :) hehehe
To all the rest of you, enjoy the weekend. Has been pretty warm, guess Jen has finally sent me some decent weather. Thanks Jen!!!! The gardening has come full circle now, so only the weather can mess it up, sure is awful slow tho, don't think anything will mature.,
HAPPY 4th
Lee
Hi Evelyn
>> Corey ~ How is your battle with the slugs doing? Did you ever get any delphiniums going past them?
You asked at the right time. I had 6-10 3" pots of delphs in my WS tubs: zero sprouts.
Over the last few years, a few dozen seedlings went outdoors to feed the slugs, with ONE survivor.
That survivor looked machine-gunned last year, and was small, but put up ONE spike.
This year, he's so big I had to put hoops & stakes around him, he's taller and fatter than I am, and put up SIX BIG spikes (though the florets are not as dense on the spike as last year). They JUST started to open up yesterday.
Interestingly, each big spike has 4-6 tiny, very sparse spikes branching off the base of the spike. Pictures, eventually, but garden and guests and work and the New Bee stash all need more time than I have.
P.S. I think all the lobelia you gave me were exepcting a lot more fertilizer than I had given them. I tried a full-strength drench, and within two days they grew noticably (after weeks of getting no taller).
P.P.S. The spring, Salvia did very well for me in the 128-cell plug tray and 3" pots, but stalled once I put them into soil. I think that there the probelm is both lack of ferrtilizer and lack of compost, so i fertilized them "buy and spread more compost" is added top my list of things to do some day.
I've also re-thought what I did to give them "well-draining soil" in an RB. They have just about the best-draining soil in my yard, but truthfully, it still stinks. No wonder they are being fussy and slow.
It's just bizzare to see plants in a 128-cell plug tray sitting on a sidewalk grow faster than plants in a raised bed!
Corey
Hey Corey, that plug tray sounds like something I would have. I planted mine and they almost drowned, But I can see where they can grow faster. They don't like the real life. My gumbo, when wet, is like a sticky mess, a size 7 shoe becomes a size 13 in just a few steps, so why would little baby plants not like their starter mix, and or miracle grow beds. Course if Jen would quit sending me the darn storms, maybe something would bloom, Now that I think about it, maybe it is actually you that is sending them. Knock it off, I am ready for a little summer. Have a great 4th. Lee
Gosh, you all have been busy today!! I have been off all day but see I have a lot to answer for so will do it in the a.m. Bob is hollaring at me to call the sheriff about the fireworks booming on the river. It is almost 12:30 and the deadline is 11:00 tonight. But, I have been reading and not listening.
Will write tomorrow and answer all the stuff. Am anxious to tell you what I thought of the Ebuckets Amanda. Nite. Jen
Celene
Put that clumper in the ground, you will really see how tall it will grow and the clumpers don't behave like the runners, or is it because you want to bring it in during the winter?
Which one did you get?
Jan
It has to come inside for winter, so it must be in a pot, because I'm far too lazy to dig it up every fall. It's Bambusa multiplex. I want an Asian-y, weeping type bamboo, and this one's lovely. Right now, it's trimmed down and small, but I'm patient.
great gardeners are made from being patient.
Jan
Ruby, is the nut grass a rhizome? Where all the plants are started by another plant? If so, just Roundup on a couple will kill them all. I think that is how it would work.
Amanda, I only got half way thru the first thread on the ebuckets, but enough to get the idea. And I am sure they may have perfected it even more. Amazing what a few people can do with their brain power isn't it? The tomatoes should do great on your driveway. Open to the sun? LMK I will try to get thru some more this afternoon. Very interesting.
JB, I have never heard of salps. Doesn't sound like anything you can cook up. LOL Yes, you have all your gardening done so you can sit back and watch ours and see us work our butts off the rest of the season. I will have to take a picture of my hh with the tomatoes growing. Will do that today.
Lee, can't you bbq those veggies into something that looks like a big steak? Sorry. Guess I am just jealous of you for losing all that weight. You are doing sooooooo good. The whole trick is to maintain when you get down there. I often wondered if it wouldn't be easier to maintain if you lost an extra 5 lbs or so to play with while trying to figure it out. But, good luck and keep us posted on your success. We, most of us, are envious.
Corey, how can you possibly keep 128 plug cells watered enough and enough food to keep them going? How long do you leave them in that before you repot?
Lee, your good weather is here. You will have it by the 4th. Beautiful. 80 degrees here. Probably 95 there. Happy 4th.
Celene your bamboo sounds lovely. Jan didn't you have a ton of daylilies 2 years ago? Did you sell them all? Do you think you will get them going again? Hope so, you really worked your butt off on them.
Dave are you playing with the grandbabies this weekend? Think you must have all of your orders filled and now you have to clean up where they were right?
Well, Bob finally got the deck with a new coat on it. Just needs to dry. We never did get the thunder storms that were keeping him from doing it earlier. Just the threat of the rain kept him from wasting that $40 gallon of stain. It will be 24 hours today so hopefully I can put my plants back on it and get it put back together. When I get them all off the kitchen deck he can move his operation out there and use the power washer on it. Maybe get it looking half way decent.
I'm telling you that composite decking we put on 2 years ago looks like a rag out there. I want to try staining it. Don't know if it will take a stain, but it faded the first winter.
Gotta get busy you all, have a great weekend. Jen
Jen:
I read through every post and there are about 4 threads that came off the first "sticky" thread.
Then you have to read the post(s) about the soil which is best for using in the buckets.
I only planted 4 buckets so far, but so far so good - I can feel down and the soil is moist under the top layer. I'm considering what I might use as a cover which would retain moisture and perhaps reflect some sun.
Let me know how it goes - it took me about a week to get through all that reading. :D
Sentiments to all for a relaxing Independence Day!
A.
Hi Jen and All - Jen, the Nut Grass or Nut Sedge grows on a bulb. I told hubby who will be the one treating the Nut Grass about your suggestion. He has found a product, or heard of a product that he still wants to do a bit of research on....I believe it is called Sedge Hammer. He needs to find out how it is applied and how to prevent it possibly killing the things around it. I suppose if the Sedge Hammer is liquid form like Round Up, it can be applied in the manner you suggested. I will let you know when he finally gets around to treating it. In the meantime, please don't hold your breath. hahaha It is not the most important thing on his list currently.
He spent the morning at our Farmers Market. He actually sold several of my houseplants.....yippie. Feels so good to have some spare change. I can tell that I will be re-investing any of my earnings from the Farmers Markets on growing supplies.
I spent a couple of hours online this morning looking at shelving. I want to get something to display and use to grow the majority of my houseplants in a spare bedroom. Most of the houseplants spent them winter in that room last year, but it was not set up, design wise to make plant maintence an easy chore. Some of the shelving units I found look interesting and ought to work for me. I still have a while before I need to purchase them, so will keep looking in case I find something perfect for the job.
I spoke last week of a plant question a neighbor has. I am going to post a few of the picture dh took. If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate hearing your feedback. I will scoot along for now. Hope everyone has had a good Saturday so far.
Ruby
Ruby - your bugane is very pretty! I am growing 2 for the first time this year and the flowers are stretching towards the light. Wish they'd stand up straight like yours. Maybe they need more shade. Will probably have to move them for next year.
Hi Amanda......this is actually a neighbors yard which seems to be full of it. I just learned the name of it from a member on the Plant ID forum. Just finished reading about it. Quite interesting plant. Yes, this neighbors yard is very shady. Thanks for the reply Amanda.
Ruby
I may have missed the plant question Ruby - were you only looking to ID it? It is a native woodland species.
Ruby, I think you have an Actaea aka Cimicifuga racemosa.
Don't you just love the way they change the botanical names after you get them memorized and remember how to spell them? (Actaea/Cimicifuga racemosa - Bugbane) Not only the family names, the genus and specific names....
There's lots of that going around in the Asteraceae family!
Sorry ladies, I prefer the plain old names we learned in the garden from our mothers and grandmothers. I like the name Bugbane. It has more character than the others. :0)

Must tell you all what we saw coming home from town today. Town, is our little one with the post office and a few stores. 15 miles away.
Alongside the road was a large dead moose that someone had killed and then taken the rack off of it. Cut the antlers off at the head. Isn't that disgusting? I called 911 and the dispatcher said someone had already reported it.
That is SO illegal! And terrible. First of all, they are poaching, then they left the meat to rot, which is a huge, huge, crime and then cut off the antlers for a trophy. Oh I wish they would get whoever did it. That would/should be a lot of jail time.
Just had to share, makes me sick to my stomach. Jen
:(
Jnette, that is just so wrong of them to do that. But thy will get what is coming to them.
I worked really hard yesterday and did not do much today. I have a few seeds I need to get planted. Winter plants. But I think our winter is Jnette's summer.
Jnette does have it right. Living in hot areas thins your blood. Therefore, we do not feel it as much as those that live in cooler areas. I just try to follow the shade.
Hope everyone is feeling good and wishing you all a happy 4th of July.
I have been lurking just not talkative. Sharon.
I like the common names and folklore, but the good part of botanical names, is that you (usually) know what you're getting when you use them.
good afternoon everyone. well I finally got caught up and can breath. my timer went on the fritz so i had to do some quick plumbing, which took me 3 days as I would only be at it a few hours a day. thursday had meeting with the family at funeral home. (my uncle) 79 died last week. friday was the memorial service.
anyway got beyond that and finally got my irrigation all set up and everyone is how I need them to be. we have such crappy water pressure I am lucky to get 3 heads to work together. so a million zones.
Ok Round up: is a non selective herbicide it does only attack monoct type plants (grass like) but can hurt other plants also. it has been known to take a huge cyperus tree down. also do not get it anywhere near a tomatoe. the way it works is it is absorbed and translocated throughout the plant and its suposed to kill the whole thing (yea right) I have seen where it killed part of a sprig of bermuda and leave part alone.
The best time to spray is early am as the wind is the calmest. theother non selective herbicide is 2-4-D which kills just about everyone else along with some grasses. I used to take an old 2 liter bottle and cut the top off and use the funnel like part as a way to controll the spray. I have also taken a rag and wiped it on weeds to kill them in containers.
Ok a way to get the light up off the soil I would try a pie pan or some othe alluminum product. it will keep the weeds down also.
we have had a week of upper 90's close to 100 with triple digit heat index. I try to quit my outside persuits by 2 at the latest. we have been light up into 930 at night. wow thats a long day.
The nieces are visiting their mom in st louis for another week so its an empty nest...yipppeeee
we are having grand babies tomorrow night. they are coming to town for a funeral of a close friend of their's. Its such fun to have the babies here.
Kim is starting to make cosumes for dress up. the boys are getting star wars costumes and mercy is getting a ballarina/princess outfit. lily is still only 1 so she just sits and crawls. she refuses to walk much and she has got to be the heaviest baby I have ever picked up. you would think she weighed 100 pounds. Kim says her daughter was that way when she slept it was truely dead weight.
I have lots of plants germinating in the greenhouse as well as most of the cuttings are already pulled out. I bought in some cuttings of purple ice plant delospemum cooperii and stuck them moved the rooted ones out and forgot about them untill last week when I had to pull some for an order. OMG the were like 8" long and look so nice. I hope to transplant them and take cuttings from them after i get caught up on cutting the rest of the nursery.
well thats about it except for kims bday tomorrow. we are going to the movies this afternoon $1.00 shows at one theater. gota love it. we usually do a kim picks one I pick one and we can veto the movie if its to far out there for either one of us. funny thing is I like the romantic comedies as long as they are not sappy or a lot of argueing.
Well everyone be safe and stay cool
Dave
Dave, i am sorry for your loss. Give Kim a hug for her birthday from me please.
I just printed out a long 9 page study that was done on Roundup because my SIL uses it between the trees. The study is not complete but the information they are making public is very interesting. I can not find the place I got it because it was from AOL but I am sure if you google it you will find the information. It is an eye opener for sure.
Jen, I wanted to tell you the white BOP now has 4 big leaves. It is growing like a little weed and I am wondering when I should transplant it. I doubt if it is time yet, but I feel sure it will be done prior to winter. It is getting top heavy. I love it.
Katie, how is your papaya doing? Mine looks like H. I keep wondering what I am doing wrong. Did you tell me where you have yours, in the shade or sun? I thought I ask you that before but I can not remember ever getting the reply. There are just so many posts I can not keep up with them.
Spent two days working on income and bank statements in order to get ready for the State Sales Tax that is due this month. Dave, I had the best quarter (this past one) that I have had in three years. I am amazed. I want to talk to you about where it all came from when you have time Dmail me privately and I will fill you in.
I am making the pulled pork today for tomorrows picnic and I no sooner got the first roast in the slow cooker than the electric went out. It was out for over an hour and I am now running about an hour late on the process. I only have one large slow cooker that I can control the temps and rush things if needed. I had to do two cookings to make enough and now I will not be finished before 8 P.M. Darn storms. We needed the rain and we had 1 1/2 inch in a very short period of time. Plus it rained on and off all morning until the front passed over. We are affected by the shore weather because we are not that far from the ocean if you draw a straight line. Driving there is trickier. LOL. I wish I were a bird at times. The traffic was terrible Friday and I could just imagine how upset everyone was this morning having a half day of their weekend shot by the rain. I was a happy camper since it has been so dry.
That groundhog is eating my squash. He sure is looking for trouble. He is too big to let Barney (at his age) tear apart, so I will have to do it myself and I will not hesitate if he does not stop it. He takes big bites out of the nicest ones, then he leaves them go and moves on to the next one. Why he just doesn't fill up on one is beyond me.
I am still not sure what everyone is talking about with the DG changes. Nothing on my screen has changed at all. I feel like I am alone in space or something.
Off I go, I am tired and need to relax. It is almost wine time and I have laundry to fold.
See you all tomorrow. Get your firecrackers ready and be careful not to get hurt. JB
Dave, sorry to hear about your uncle. He wasn't that old. Have to keep telling myself that because of us all getting older. Our parts start wearing out. Funny how we don't worry about them until we get this age.
JB, get over there and look at your email. I need some answers about Aimee!! Put the wine down until you write back.
I don't know about your BOP JB. My daughter repots anything when they get to the stage yours is at and they start in growing again. Her tropicals I am talking about. But, some plants like to be pot bound too. I don't think too many like that tho. Their little toes get cramped and then they get stunted and quit growing altogether. That is SOME.
Sorry, I would do it now, but then look how I kill some too. I don't pay any attention to when to pot and when not to. I do it when they need it. Look at Dave still planting seeds and they are germinating. That is a spring thing.
That's what the squirrels do JB. One bite out of each ripe tomato, then on to the next one. Must be a rodent thing.
Well, tomorrow is the 4th so that means it is going to rain. It always does on the 4th. The tourists will head for home early!! Yeah!! Went into the little grocery store yesterday and it was so crowded you couldn't move. Whole families in there for God's sake. Why didn't some of them stay outside? Oh well, Dave, the store owner needed the business. We don't get many of them.
Have a good BBQ everyone. Oh, Lee, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but we are sending some very dark clouds your way.
Dave, I am sorry about your Uncle. He is one yer older than Vern.
I had a good day. Rain storm is heading our way. Sumac's are dropping leaves like it is raining leaves. It rained on the other side of the valley.
I spent two hours by myself on the back patio this morning. Just me, the birds and dragonflies I share the back landscape with. Only one Quail came this morning. Usually there are about 10. Must have found better food somewhere else.
I deep watered a few trees in the front landscape and the robins were just waiting for me to go inside. They love my worms. But there is enough for both of us. The robins are getting so tame they just stand there and watch as the dogs and I walk by. The dogs do not even pay any attention to the birds in the back landscape. The doves just stand there but the Quail take off if you come out the door.
Everyone have a great day tomorrow. The neighborhood is empty. Everyone is either in the mountains or in Southern California at the beach.
Take care, be safe and eat whatever you want. Sharon.
so sorry to hear about your loss.
Jan
You all need to go over to Container gardens and view TomTom containers. He is also an expert on coleus standards. Sharon.
On the tomato forum Shoe told me to spray my tomatoes with fish fertilizer. He said they hate it. The smell I guess. Guess it won't hurt. The plants should love it. Whadda ya think? You joisy gal. LOL
I did that the other day Sharon. They are very unique. I remember having coleus as house plants when we were kids. I have several now, but they did not carry over the winter very good. I rad where they do best if you take cuttings and start new plants from those every year.
That would not work for making standards of them like he does. I didn't ask him how old his were. That would be interesting to know.
The ones I took cuttings from and started new plants with did turn out better than the older plants.
Always an education when reading here. So glad that I happened upon this thread a few weeks back. I am all eyes and ears in terms of hearing about how you folks run your gardening businesses. This is my husbands and my first year trying to sell. We are only selling at two farmers markets currently but are really interested in getting in to possibly mail order works and I need to hear from you folks any other ideas for selling an over abundance of Day Lilies mainly plus some others plants we have inherited over the years. My interest is mainly in houseplants currently due to the past five years having a diagnosis of Muscular Dystrophy that is affecting my walking gait and strength in arms, so am somewhat limited in what I can do.
I have thought of possibly running an ad in our local Craigs List and just say that I have plants for sale and see if I can get any business from that. What do you folks think? I know that several years back I was involved in a local Freecyle group and just gave away extra houseplants I had grown over the summer outdoors and had too many to bring inside for the winter. I am now at the point that the ye olde pocket book is much emptier than a few years back, so am looking for renumeration for my efforts. So, any one who likes to share knowledge, please feel free to hit me up (as my younger son would say) with some of your ideas. I promise to be a good student.
Dave, I too send my condolences on your uncle's death. I have only a few aunts still alive and they are way up in to their 80's now, so I too will be facing some of the same before too very long. It will be strange to then take the place as the real elders of the family, but that goes with the territory I suppose.
Anyway.....I enjoyed hearing from everyone....Oh yeah, almost forgot. The Bugbane (bedbug repeller) is in a neighbors yard and they asked us to see if we could get it identified. They are currently out of town, but when they return, I can tell them that the good folks at Dave's Garden identified it quickly and easily. Thanks folks.
Sharon, glad to see you posting again. I always love hearing from you. From the very little I know of you......I believe you to be a good example of a spirit that I want to emulate. You really go girl!!!
Ruby
Ruby, so sorry to hear of your illness. What a rip!! I know what you are saying tho. It does slow you down. That is a very interesting thought! Especially for house plants. But, I would have a place like in your garage, well lit, etc. that you can set them up. I really would not want strangers in my house.
JB just said she is having such good traffic from ebay. You might try that.
LOL, I would love to be able to keep up with Sharon also, but that is a dream I will never accomplish. So I do what I can and be glad I can do that.
That is interesting that Bugbane is a bedbug repeller. Are you suppose to plant one in a pot in your bedroom? LOL
Maybe JB, Linda, and Dave can give you some pointers in sales. Hope so.
Well I had a fabulous day. Woke up to 70 degrees and very cloudy. I enjoyed the morning on the back patio until 9am and then I hit the garden. I worked in the front landscape until 3:30pm. Got so much done I cannot believe it. Now, if I can have one more day of cloudy, 90 degree high weather, I will be caught up.
Vern started drinking margaritas at 5:30pm. He makes them weak and I have never seen him drunk so I guess that is OK. I am drinking lots of water. He usually does not have a drink before 7:30pm.
Some animal, probably a rat, is eating our tomatoes. Went out this morning to give a neighbor a couple tomatoes and three were half eaten. Had this problem a few years ago. They come into the neighborhood from the golf course. I am going to have to Google to see how to protect the tomatoes..
Well I will see if I can stay up until 9pm. BUT, if I get tired, I just go to bed and go to sleep. I will be 69 in one month. OM goodness. I remember when I thought 69 was ancient.
Big time fireworks all over the city tonight.
I did not cook our hot dogs. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe for breakfast. Later, Sharon.
Sharon - I am overrun with rodentia from feeding the birds. I am going vertical with my tomatoes in containers/buckets. Will keep you posted.
Looking forward to your birthday, :)
A.
Wow did sharon send me a storm and a half today, we thought we were going to lose our garage and have trees on our house. Our porch had 4 inches of water in some parts.
Yes, the fireworks went on until midnight last night and I think they are allowed 11 o'clock tonight. They are pretty careful since I called 911 last year and the deputies showed up while I was on the phone cause someone else had called them. Now they make sure that I get a bunch. That is ok, 'cause I had to put my little blind dog down and she is the one that it bothered so much. Always had to sedate her.
All the other counties around outlaw the fireworks so they come up here. That's ok. Let them burn up their money. As long as they don't start the forest on fire. That is what I worry about now.
See you are typing some now Dawn. How is the surgery?
Howdy folks.....Jnette, some interesting thoughts from you. Our dogs and the two goats we own all hate the sounds of the fireworks too. We can comfort the inside dogs a bit, but not much can be done for outside goats. Whenever I find myself being distressed over the welfare of something I have no power over, I try to remember to say a short prayer that God will comfort the animals or whoever is in distress. It helps to calm me to know that someone more powerful than myself has a hand in these sorts of things.
We lost a beloved mixed collie/shephers we had for almost fourteen years last August. I cried till I thought my heart would break...finally reached a place in my mind where I knew that Lucky would be grieved if he knew I was so grieved over him, so pulled myself together and ever since have been able to think of him with fond memories and not so much sadness as before. It is hard to lose a furry pal.
Also Jnette, thanks for the comments and laughs regarding the bugbane. You are cute!!!
Good thought on having folks come to my home from running an ad. Actually if I were to do this, it would be pretty soon while still warm and plants are housed on side screened porch. That would prevent anyone having to come inside the home at least.
Actually, I had people come to my home on Saturday due to an ad that I ran in Craig's List. Some years back I went a bit overboard and purchased a lot of pretties from India. I originally started studying the ebay site for veils or something to use as window decor. The prices at the time were so low that I ended up making a sport of it for a while. Three years later, here I sit with a lot of unopened merchandise that I will never use. So, after months of giving it thought, I ran the ad.
Turned out that a family in my small town who are East Indian natives but have lived here for fourteen years called and came by to look and bought several packages of the fabric. Interesting that they are leaving for a trip to India this week and the mother of the group plans to take fabric to India and have the pieces sewn in to the native dress which she mostly still wears. What an interesting visit we had. Turns out that we know some of the same people from here.
Anyway......good to everyone posting. Yep, Dawn....hope you are continuing to heal up nicely. Here is hoping that everyone will have a good week.
Ruby
Well I am up and it is partly cloudy. I am going to hit a flower bed that needs to be dug. I have very sun sensitive plants in it and when I had the African Sumac trimmed back to let the Japanese Blueberry grow, I opened up the bed to full sun.
It is in the back landscape so the direct sun will not be back here for about 5 hours but I just want to get it done.
I hit th pillow at 9pm last night and I was gone.
Dawn, I think you are right. The storms came up from Mexico. Blame Katie. Probably will have some more later tonight. Depends on how hot it gets.
Take are and you all we safe and well. Sharon.
Got my first tomato yesterday. It was nice and firm and yummy. Nothing else looks like it will even be red until October. Of course the bushes are beautiful. My SIL really trimmed them and of course, took off all the early blooms. If I did not love him so much i would have to kill him. I swear I will never grow tomatoes again.
It is stinking hot here today and I have two plants to ship, which I am very reluctant to do, but they will only be packed one day and hopefully that will not be enough to kill them. I am going to have to stop shipping if this 90 deg. crap keeps up. If you think about it, we have very few months to ship when it gets too cold so soon and too hot so soon. Can not win.
The past weekend we had severe storms that we lost electric everyday for three days. I no sooner got the clocks changed when the electric would go off again. They are working on it but the entire area is having outages daily. Groan and Moan. That is me today.
The local corn on the cob is in and is wonderful. Sweet and sugar and most of it is white but some places have white and yellow combined. Very good year for the corn. Blueberries are almost over if not over. I never got one berry on my bushes. LOL. So much for jelly.
I have pickles I need to can but I have not had time. I hope I do not loose too many. They are really coming in faster than I can can them. Oh well, so much for pickles this winter if that happens.
I have to pack and ship now but I wanted to say hi and hope you all had a great weekend. We did except for the power thing, and the Joint Base had fireworks that I can see from my deck and they were really nice.
Be back. JB
