Plant Propagation part XXXVIII

This is the Tropical Hibiscus. One of two in pots that are still blooming their little hearts out.

They just announced a micro burst was in the area of 80+ mph.

Cross Post Celene. Estates bring out the "real" in family. Do not ask me to help take care of Mom, just give me everything when she is gone. That did not happen in my family but I have seen it happen many times. Sorry you had to go through it.

I read the total explanation from Dave, of Dave's Garden about his new site. Sound like it is going to be good. Some people being left behind in the change but that is what happens in business all the time. Sharon.

Columbus, OH

ZOMG, Sharon, isn't that the truth? My sister from out of state hasn't worked in 20 years (she's 33), but can she come up and help with mom after she was in the hospital? Nope, "too busy". The last few years my parents were alive, when I had to take care of them, the time I spent and the ability to do things to show my gratitude for being loved and raised well, were worth more than anything I could've inherited. My father passed away first, I promised him I'd take care of Mom and I did; keeping that promise was very meaningful.

There were a lot of funny things, it's not all bad. Several bad 80's hair photos, when I had blue or purple hair, a photo of me winning a state fair riding class at age four, etc.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

One evening after mother had been in assisted living for about a month he called to see how I was doing. I spent every day there from 11am until she went to bed.

He asked the wrong question. I lost it. He showed up every night after that as soon as he got off of work.

My sister, who is a sweetheart, thought my brother and I were just smart enough to get mother to eat. So she flew in to visit and show us how it is done. Well we sat a little back from the table as she spoke to mother and then gave her a spoon full of mashed potatoes, which she immediately spit right back at her.

Everyday when I showed up, mother would be outside her door in her wheelchair. The nurse would say, "I told you she would be here". The moment she saw me her eyes would light up. I can still see her smile. First thing every day we would share a diet Pepsi. She loved diet Pepsi.

Bless you Celene. The most important things in life are not things. Sharon

Columbus, OH

My mother could feed herself, but wouldn't eat anything vaguely appropriate for her HBP/cholesterol/underweight issues. The battle to re-educate her palate and deal with her numerous food and nutrition issues was a bit of a challenge, but frozen healthy meals packaged in seal-a-meal packets eventually won her over. She tasted every new thing like I was trying to poison her, it was hilarious. She would sneak and save bacon fat (a condiment for her, ugh) and get people to buy her potted meat, canned soup, and dried beef, which I always had to find and remove from the house. She cracked us up, squirreling away junk food.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

When my mother was in her last month, her roommate got a box of chocolates. Mother was diabetic. Her roommates daughter offered her a piece of candy. Mother said, "Oh No, I am diabetic". I gave her a piece and told her it was OK. I found it in her desk drawer the next day.

But that would be me. I do not do bacon or fast food but do not take away my chips and salsa.

Actually DH's cardiologist said I needed to feed him canned soup because he was not getting enough sodium.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Yes, I guess these forums do have to break up, but like Sharon said, I hate to see you go JB. But, if you have to, that is your decision. You know where to find us. And, maybe we will meet on Dave's new site. Don't know.

Sharon those pictures are better. Each one an individual subject. I guess maybe that was the difference.

Dave, it does take time to get everything watered. Are you on city water? Is it expensive? I think Sharon's utilities would finish me. The more I look at things like that I am thinking I maybe stay where I am, or find a place like it with more flat ground and not so many trees that I can get some sun.

Sharon and Celene, I guess that is something we all have to go thru. I have 4 sisters. My mother had her will written so that we all shared equally in everything. She had it specifically down to her personal things and how they were to be distributed by drawing one at a time.

It made it easier but there were still times when I, and I am sure my sisters, had to bite our tongues and shutup. Somehow we do get thru it, and some are better for the experience and some are worse.

Gotta run, ttyl You to JB

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

It had nothing to do with assets, but who helped and who did not. After death, the buzzards circle. Not in my family but watching it happen as we speak in another family. Even when there is nothing of worth involved. They just think everything is worth a whole lot of money. NOT. Send me my money. NOT

Jnette, I am sorry I missed your two days of summer. Maybe you could have the driveway changed and take down some trees. Maybe a golf cart and snow mobile to go down to the bottom of the hill. I know there is a solution so you can stay and be happy. I will pray for you to find a solution. Love you you witch, Sharon.

PS: I made a killer summer omelet for dinner tonight.

pest control man is coming tomorrow to take care of the rats that are eating my tomatoes in exchange for some tomatoes.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

LOL, hope he gets his before he sprays.

No, you don't just go change the direction of the driveway, not even in the country. And golf carts would never work, and I do not like the noisy snowmobiles. Thanks, but no thanks. No solution there.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Sharon I think that rain is the most beautiful sight. ahhhh!

Columbus, OH

I'd love some rain about now.

Other than a couple of things, my mother did not specify her personal possessions and household items. Other than farm equipment, there was nothing worth very much, mostly sentimental stuff. Things like my brother-in-law, aka "Useless", walking around the house making notes about what he wanted. He's not related to us, he's not in the will, and 30 hours after I turned off Mom's life support, he's sticking post-it notes in my face and telling me to pick a color so he can mark who gets what. By that point, I hadn't slept in about five days, and I must have been like the kid in The Exorcist when I told him to stop it, because just turned around and left. My mother did specify that I got her plants, she always said no one else would take care of them.

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

Celene

I feel your pain, as the loss of my mother, also brought about the lost my halfsister and her 5 children. (found out later why, sister forged my mothers signature so that she was sole beneficiary, crazy thing is the signature are nothing alike, you would have thought they would have caught that, but the government doesn't do much these days) Besides, who cares about the money, the one you love is gone and all the money in the world isn't going to bring them back. That was 11 years ago.

So I hope you heart can heal so that when you remember your mom, you will have some joy.

Quote from RickCorey_WA :
Listening to a squirrel chattering in a tree re-inforces the idea that they are snarky Wise Guys who like making trouble.

I don't wish them ill, but DO wish they would stay in forests and OUT of cities and gardens.

Corey: Didja ever think that that's exactly what they are saying about us people?

@ Jnette: I love your squirrel/tomato philosophy. Hope they like jelly bean tomatoes. :)

@ JB: go with your gut. Doesn't sound like you are leaving DG, just taking time away from the computer to live in the real world and spend less time in the virtual one. I've only been a subscriber for a few months, but I imagine this is a pretty comforting place to be when the ground is brown (or white!) and trees are bare.

@ everybody: I don't post much, but I like to read yours. It is really not a thread for outsiders to stick with easily or to keep up on the reading! I got behind on reading because I'm down on Dr.'s orders for lots of rest and lots of fluids. I laugh a lot, feel like I had a lot of comments I could have posted, but been reading your posts from when I stopped from way up there where I quoted Corey.

I DO also like this group also because you're a little rough around the edges, gruff, sarcastic, and I don't think would be offended if I wrote the word ASS in capital letters. I used to be pissed off for a living (for some reason I just heard ONE of you in my head say "better than being pissed ON") and sometimes I get a little profane. Every so often I catch myself in forums/threads making sure to clean up my language to make sure not to offend anyone.

When I first came here looking I was looking for a thread like every other thread tells me how to do stuff with maybe a sticky at the top on how to propagate (speculating). That's not what you've got going here, but I am still experimenting with propagation. When I have a real question I'll post. Like I did when I posted about the Norfolk Island Pine which was not a propagation question - but that's how you answered it. :)

Ahhh. My head is starting to hurt from reading all your posts. Have reading glasses. Don't use 'em, and sometimes I get an ache behind my left eye that likes to go migraine. Anyway. This is the newbee's take on the group/thread. Hope you don't mind me lurking, but I got to feeling at some point that I might like to write the word ASS in capital letters on DG, and this'd be the place I could do it.

Love to all.

A.

Well, as you say, better than being pissed on Amanda. I'm really going to miss JB. Not just to jab at, but because she is a real friend I can relate to. Hope she comes to visit now and then.

Well, you can keep all that rain water down there Sharon. Maybe she will share it with you Dawn. We don't need it up here. Will trade for some of your sun. Don't need the super hot that you all get, but would like the sun.

I have to go take a shower before the appliance repairman shows up. LOL, not that I have plans for him to do anything but fix a few things on the washer and dryer, just that I stink. LOL Does that explain the shower and the repairman?

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Hey, I told you I was not going to go for good..........actually, I dropped in to see if Dave had posted. I am worried about his health and usually hear from him privately once in awhile bu
even that has not happened, so here I am. Be sure he is o.k.

I saw Amanda's comments and had to laugh. Amanda, Jen and I were on probation by the Adm. of DG for our "off color" talking in a forum. How did that go Jen. We made such fun of it, they leave us alone now. We were always getting edited and half our mails went bye bye. You know you have a bad mouth when the bosses start to edit your posts. LOL Anyhow, all you want as far as I am concerned.

Celene, I am so sorry for your loss. You just come here and talk whenever you feel like it and I am sure there will always be someone listening. Even me........but not as often.

Barney was sick all morning. I thought maybe this was the "big" one, but he snapped out of it and now he is hungry. Just like a man. Yesterday he was fine. What next?

I have had a day, and yes I end up here to rest, read and be close to my friends that matter more than they will ever know. I had a very depressing weekend and did not feel I should pull everyone else down with me. So I got quiet for a few hours.

Jen, I am getting used to my earplugs but I never knew there were so many sounds in my house I was missing. I go back Friday for whatever!

The radio is on the blink and the cell phone is not working properly. I swear the Military is doing something to the surrounding area and causing those air waves to not work properly.

The truth is, I can't wait to see if Jen is smiling when the repair man leaves.

Love to all....I am out of here for now. See you thought you could get rid of me but I fooled you.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

About buddelia from the compost pile:

I ordered from the same lot. The plants were not shipped/packed with care and many were broken. Although I appreciate that many other plants not requested were included, I only asked for 2 buddelia.

One was broken off completely at the base.

The second spare and sickly looking.

Neither has survived, though all other plants have come back beautifully, including a calicarpa that broke at the base which now has a flush of new green leaves.

Wish I could go into your square up there and edit it. Yeah sure you do. Just saying that because I'm sick. You want me to get better so you can beat up on me again. All of the others are afraid to open their mouths like poor Evelyn did. Afraid you'll jump down their throats too.

Bet you were a miserable child when you were growing up. I mean getting big. Don't think you ever grew up. Did you have brothers and sisters? Bet you beat on them constantly. If not probably the other kids at school. Probably carried a big stick at all times. Bet even the teachers were afraid of you.

I remember my mom used to say, "I'm going to jump down your throat and gobble up your shoestrings!" That reminded me of her when you said that...

Has everyone figured out how to remove the blank column on the left? If not, I will tell you how, OK?

I stuck with that thread until they fixed that problem as there was a near-riot over it. It's funny how we like what we are used to. Now if they hadn't changed things, they could have put all the ads they wanted, in a discreet sort of way, very gradually and they probably would have few complaints. But to just implement all the changes they wanted without any recourse as to how to get it the way it was, now they have defeated themselves. (Heh, heh...) Oh, well!

Well, I finally caught up on the reading of the posts....

JB ~ I am surprised that your computer is working fine and the other electronics are not. Isn't your connection a wireless? I have a slow landline and many times I post and it goes into cyberspace and I get so frustrated. It takes so long sometimes just to get to the forums, but there is not highspeed available except for one service that charges $70.00 a month via sattelite.

Sharon ~ I was a single parent and I did not have any money to save. I barely made it from paycheck to paycheck and could not afford to buy my own home. My mother gave her home to my son and his wife. They divorced and she got the home. At least my grandkids had a home to live in. So I am glad that you were smart enough to get a job that made good money. I wasn't that smart. The last granddaughter that stayed in the home after the divorce felt so alone as her mom was at work and she was alone in the house unless she brought over friends. She practically lived across the street, as they had a family there with a stay-at-home mom.

I must go now as I am getting eyestrain. Before I used to spend way too much time on the computer. JB, I know what you mean. We do have other things to do, but we can still come here now and then, when we get the chance. I think that Jeanette thought you said you were leaving DG, and I thought you said you had left cubits. I don't know if a hearing aid would help me as I have such loud ringing in my ears (tinnitus). The ear doctor says he does not know what causes it, and does not know of any help or cure for it.

So I will go check on the watering now and come back sooner or later.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Well, JB, it certainly is good to hear from you. Yes, Evelyn, I thought she was leaving our forum. Not DG. And Cubits. Anyway, good to hear Barney is fine also. Eating and pooping. That is what animals do best. These 2 cats I got from Pet Rescue are regular poop machines. We spend more on litter than we do on food for them.

Evelyn, I just googled Tinnitus and there are a ton of solutions in there. You might go thru them and see if you think any of them would help. Don't just ask one dr. about it. Go to another one and see what they say. That is called a second opinion. Remember?

JB, I was smiling after my shower, but not after the repairman left. $118 poorer he charged me. I thought it was suppose to be the other way around. : P)

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

yep I am here and yes we are on city water but the water for the stupid turf is more than what i do. I do have to admit I have been a bit depressed lately and I guess its my turn for it. basically it all boils down to my disability and the pain day in day out 24/7/365 or 396 if you are adding it all up. Also being all alone for the first time in a long time. For being an only kid and a latch key kid on top of it I sure dont handel it well in my old age.

I finally got my drip line down for the last bed in the back yard. it took me too long as I was also trouble shooting other problems, like final touches on the 6 different zones in the nursery.

The new organic shop is not doing hydroponics which is a bit strange. funny thing is I have a bigger variety of plants than they do and I am just in my back yard. I noticed they had some million bells in 2" pots they were 8" long with tiny leaves and a single stem. in MHO they have a good show on how to set up for garden gifts but a big what not to do on their plants. everyone was dryer than a popcorn fart and some stuff was blown over. half of it was not marked. When I inquired about selling to them It felt like the brush off. boy are they in for a big suprise come next spring when we do out grand opening.

Going tomorrow to pick up a huge batch of used pots we bought from a local landscaper. I am looking forward to getting planting started soon.

Sharon those were beautiful plants especially the rain lilies. it reminds me I need to sow my seeds of them for next spring.

I hope everyone stays kool and safe
Dave

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

oh yea I wuz watt chin a plant gardening thing-a- ma-jiggy show and the showed a new invention. it was a stale with 4 short probes coming out the top and a gel type bait specially scented for deer. when they lick it they get the ole 9 volt to the tounge feeling. suposed to work wonders. Kind of torn between the love of wild life and the damage deer can do to a garden or hosta bed.
just wanted to share and give someone a giggle at my okie interpration of what the show was

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

Hmmm. Never did like the taste of 9V on my tongue.

Why would anyone want to grow them in the garden?

A.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Dave, I have a carton of used square pots that I can't use, I got them at a pot grower place that was closed down. Wonder if they are something you could use. Think about it and I will see how many there are in there and send you a picture with measurements. I don't know what they put in them in their growing if it would not be something you would want.

Let me know and I will count them and measure. With a picture. They may be what the nurseries call quarts. Not sure.

If there are enough to make it worth sending and you can use them I will send them.

Greensboro, NC(Zone 7b)

I didn't order plants from Pughbear/Dave yet though I threatened to earlier this spring. Maybe I'll have to look at his compost piles too. :D

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Evelyn, so glad to see you posting. I did not pick a job that made good money. I started as a receptionist and clawed myself up the ladder. Being a Mortgage Banking loan officer is just a glorified sales person with mortgage product knowledge. And that gold mine is now gone.

Evelyn, I would like to get rid of the white space on the left. I would appreciate the instructions.

Dave, I have some extra pink and white rain lily bulbs. I will send them out this week. Depression just sneaks up on you and knocks you down.

JB, glad you showed your face. Jnette, you do not spray for rats. I do not allow anything sprayed in my landscape except fertilizer. I will be back tomorrow.

All take care of yourselves. Sharon

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Thank you so much sharon I would love some rain lily bulbs. i have a few that are pale pink and I really love them. just have to seperate them from liriope growing beside them. should be easy to do. ok easy for me to do as I see a slight difference in the leaves.

yes Jeanette I am sure I can use them as i use any and all pots under 3 gallon size (10 - 12") I need lots of qts so that would be great. please let me know how much they are.

well i went and got pots today from a landscaper boy was it an eye opener. got a bunch of trays, gallons 2 gallon and 3 gallon pots all in all it would be about $1000.00 worth of supplies just sitting in the sun baking. now to get transplanting.
Last weekend i went to lowes and got 4 bags of their planting mix to extend my growing mix. i plan on mixing 1 bag of miricle grow with slow release and water crystals with 2 bags of the garden soil. also going to add some osmocote to the pots.

Its funny you say spray for rats. i have a cat for the rats and tree rats as well. I am glad I have some birds visiting. I don't really spray for anything except for my health mix of benificial microbes and michorhyza, that is one thing we will be sure to sell as I know I can sell the crap out of it as well as soil amendments.
It was interesting when I worked at a local garden center. the manager of the other store wondered why we were out sellinghim in amendments and mulch. I had products i believed in and sold the crap out of them.

yes depression can sneak up on us. i admit it had me in its deep cold grip and still has me slightly but i am sure I will get out of it soon. the heat does not help with the fact that I cant get out and play all day like I want to. oh well maybe a few hours tomorrow in the am before the att people get her to switch out our service. got lots to transplant and some stuff to do cuttings of. hmmm decissions decissions...breuagh ah haaaa haaa

anyone ever try doing the hyper tufa stuff? I am kicking it around. oh yea I was told about and confirmed for all you coir junkies... they are making pots out of coir like peat pots. it was not difficult to find if you are interested.

well its nap 30 .. yea i know its early but I did not sleep well last night. too much surfing for molds on concrete for hypertufa.
Have a great day
Dave

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Well Dave, If you got all of those pots from the landscaper, which sounds wonderful by the way, then maybe you don't need/want these. Maybe just be in the way. Tell, you what i'll do, I will take a picture, measure one, and count how many I have and you can tell me if you want them. Don't know what shipping would cost.

Sounds like you have a lot going Dave. Don't know how you have time to be depressed.

Yes, I tried the hypertuffa a couple years ago on a pot. It was fun, don't even know what i did with the pot now. But I have seen the forums on it on here and they really make some neat stuff. The rocks should sell like hotcakes.

Everett, WA(Zone 8a)

The new gardening site is "All Things Plant".
The URL is that name with no spaces, dot com.

It seems to already have my old cubits name & password.

It does have a "Tropical Forum", moderated by "Bubbles".

Corey

Brooksville, FL(Zone 9a)

I only know of a facebook account. I've not been able to log into my cubits account since moving cause I no longer have the email that I had on that account. I sent a notice to Trish but have never heard back.

I sure wish I could get back in so I could find the new sight.

Jan

Columbus, OH

Rick, I had to go looking for that site, it's allthingsplants (with the s).

You guys can find me on FB most days.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Corey, The new site has all the old threads and forum pertaining to gardening that was on Cubits. It is really an easy site to get around and no one should have any trouble finding a spot, except for me.....I am still looking and they are still not doing what I ask, so I guess I may as well just go with the flowl They have a Tropical Forum, they also have a House Plant Forum. Now, the Tropical Forum has a wonderful group of Master Gardners and others who live in the warm climates and have georgous homes with all sorts of outdoor gardens filled with beautiful tropical plants. How the hell do I fit in there? Next is the HousePlants Forum. Well that is a mix of all sorts of plants that are house plants but it covers so many different things. I ask the moderator if I could start a thread for Tropical House Plants because I did not want to butt into any thing they had in mind. The answer I got was, You can open a thread for every plant you think people would like to discuss.
Am I just dull or did she not answer my question. So, again, having been thoroughly frustrated, I am just going to play with what they have for now and see if I can find a place I feel comfortable where we can discuss. They also have a Fragrant Flower Forum. i am not sure why they are resisting the Tropical House Plant Topic so much. Maybe it is me they are resisting. If so, tell me and I will be history. Yet, that does not seem to be the case but who knows when people do not give you straight answers. Oh how I hate this some days.
Meadow , go on Facegook and look forf AllthingsFlowers and ask them to make you a friend. If that does not work, let me know and I will see how to get you over there. I thought I saw you there. That must have been on cubits?
That should get you there.
Celene, are we friends on FB? If not please free to find me and make us friends if you want to.
Hi to you all, that invitation to be my friend on FB goes for anyone who is on FB from this forum. I just need to know who you are and where you came from so I can put you in the correct group.
Have a good day, I have to go into town and will be busy until after lunch. Maybe I will see you then and someone might be up and about from the West Coast.

Crozet, VA

Very interesting reading....as always. I thought I was finished with the computer and ready to start my daily chore and was hit with a wave of nausea that almost did me in. I decided to just sit and read until the nausea subsided, and it has now thankfully.

I could make lots of comments on all that everyone has said, but the main person I want to say something to is Dave. The depression sucks big time....been there and done that. I went through a couple month long one not too long ago and it was truly he**. I so much wanted to feel better and just couldn't for a couple month long period. Thankfully it has now passed and I have been my normal self again for a month or more and am thrilled with it.

Anyways.......you know it will pass and about the only thing we can do as we walk that black walk is to hold to the hope that it will clear away soon. I feel for you and am so glad that you felt comfortable enough to share this with us. Be sure to have support as you go through these times. Find folks who understand and lay it all out in front of them. They may have some ideas to help the depression fade a bit quicker for you. Anyway.....sounds like you are well loved here, so let these folks love you back to health, so to speak.

I didn't realize you had a disability, so that is even more encouraging that you are undertaking this backyard growers business. My hubby and I are trying to do the same thing here. Let's wish each other much luck.

Here is hoping that you will be doing better really soon Dave and to the rest of you, thanks for sharing....I learn much when reading here and appreciate everyone's input. JB, I don't know you well but know I was going to miss you if you were gone, so I am glad that you too are going to continue with the group. Hope that your weekend blues have gone bye-bye too. Here is wishing everyone better days ahead. You are great folks from all that I can tell.

Ruby

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

JB, I just took a quick look at the new site, and not thrilled with the way it is set up. I think they did such a good job on this site in organization, that it is hard to match. Is she saying that every plant has to have a forum of it's own? When I look at the list, that is what it looks like and none of them are in alphabetical order.

I am repeating myself I know, but you are talking to Southerners (sorry, not meant to demean anyone) who do not consider YOUR tropicals to be houseplants. Therefore, she cannot comprehend what you are talking about. That is my take on it. I don't think it is because she cannot communicate, just not on the same page.

Dave, I will get down and look at the pots today and try to get an idea what it would cost to ship. Not heavy, but bulky.

Jeanette

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Jenette, I think you may have hit the nail on the head. Be seeing you later. I wonder what you were looking at. All my Forums and Plants are listed in alph. order and the site seems so similiar the set up on this one I wondered if it was legal to do that. Of course he set up both of them and I think he will try and improve and correct his mistakes he made in setting up this one. I do not know these people very well, but sometimes I am not sure we are on the same planet. Cheez.

Must go put together my new meat grinder. The Jeep is still leaking trans. fluid since they put the new part in and tomorrow I am taking it back and sitting there until they fix it. I am so annoyed I could run it into their front door. I would if I had not just paid for that paint job. Lol

This message was edited Jul 13, 2011 2:05 PM

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

LOL, you mean we weren't even looking at the same thing? The second one I looked at was in alphabetical order.

But have seen nothing that looks like this one. I think I am losing the batteries in my mouse in the laptop 'cause I can't even get on line. My server changed their programing the first of the month so I had 3 computers I had to reprogram!! Had help on 2 but not sure on this one and it is the only one that is working!!

Well, it is raining today. Feels kinda good for a change. Not that it has been hot. Sure can't say that when the rest of you all are so hot. But a wonderful day to open all the doors and windows and clean house. With these these animals in the house there is a lot of dander and I can't breath.

The drier I just paid $250 to repair is making a terrible noise again so now have to get that guy back here. Had all the appliances running, music to my ears, to get things cleaned up. Don't know what I would do without that electricity I cuss out all the time. LOL

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)

Hi, JB! I have been up for a couple of hours, just not on the computer. I need to limit my time on it for a number of reasons. I do not see why you cannot open a thread on any subject pertaining to houseplants on the houseplants forum (such as tropical house plants), as well as lurking on the tropical plannts forum to see what more there is to learn about them. The people that grow them in their native environment do have an advantage as they can showcase their plants better, as well as have more variety.

Sharon ~ I will get back with you later as I have attempted twice to dmail you the info on the "blank space", and both times the dmail was lost in cyberspace. I may have to send it to you by email.

It is cooler today so I will be outside for most of the day. I will probably back here tomorrow or the next day. Have a wonderful day, everyone!

I was unable to load that last message until this afternoon since the dial-up took so long to upload that one picture. I had to come in for lunch at sometime, so I checked on it. That is just one of the many reasons I need to be away from my computer. It takes so long for things to load so I go and visit other places and pretty soon the day is over. Well not today, and hopefully not ever again. My eyes cannot take it as well as the rest of me. I have a lot of work that needs doing - by me!

Hey everyone, Jenette is going to shower again I bet.......the repair man is coming back.
She said the drying is making a noise and he just fixed it. It was probably an excuse to get him back. Not my Jenette.....................you are too much. Does he make house calls in NJ? Ask him for me. Is he Cute? I am not really interested in a repair man unless he owns the shop. Ooops. Money is the root of all plants!

Barney would not poop today and of all days, when I was tired and a bit off balance and in the 90 deg. heat, he wanted to walk to help him poop. This dog is getting close to the final day in his calendar. Yes, he pooped and I am pooped. Going to have some wine and go to bed early.

I have a story to tell you if you promise not to tell Jenette because she will give me all sorts of you know what. I have had problems hearing on my cell phone since Friday. The day I got the $5000 ear plugs. Anyhow, I called Verizon and they assured me if I did the *228 both 1 and 2, and removed the battery the phone would have more volume. So I did what they said and last night I told my SIL my problem. I could not get the back off to remove the battery. He removed the battery, we did the other things again, checked all settings and he said it has to be the speakers. He said he would take me to the Verizon store tomorrow because my daughter is having a colonoscopy (sp) and he will be home all afternoon since he is taking off to take. Then he took the phone again and looked at it and he said there was something in the speaker, he brushed it out and blew it out with the air thingy we use to clean the keyboards, and believe it or not it works fine. It happens that all the junk I was putting on my ear, prescribed by the dermatologist, was building up on the speaker of the phone and I thought it was my new hearing aids. LOL
Can you believe it? We had a good laugh about that and my face was red.

Nite all. JB

That is some funny stuff, JB. :D

Sorry about Barney - my poor ol' gal Max had bowel problems last spring, OH! I tried everything. Best thing that worked for her was the cat hairball remedy. My vet said there was nothing in there that would cause any problems for her. It was the only thing of many things I tried that kept things moving.

Poor thing left me at Christmas time due to collapsed trachea in her lung. What I wouldn't do to be dragging that old dog around the block in this 90+ degree heat.

Loveya.
A.
