I know, seems all the half decent perennials in 1 gallon pots are $9.99 - $12.99...know they multiply but still..I think it's over the top..you just couldn't purchase one, would have to have 2 or 3 to make a show in the garden..
Hydro was flickering off and on, storm moving through the area, had an alert for Midland/Barie but it seems to have passed, hoping it did..

Just a quick post to let you all know I'm home and I'm fine. I was nervous but it really was like a walk in the park. The surgical team took real good care of me. I have a patch for overnight and see the surgeon again tomorrow and it will come off then. I thank you so much for the prayers - I so appreciate them..
It has taken me forever to type this correctly - going to go rest a bit.......
Thanks for dropping in Barb and letting us know all went well..just think of the colors you'll now see when out shopping for fabric..now Norm's in trouble!!! go rest my friend!
Betty I have cone flowers and yes in one season they have doubled. Barb glad all went well today.
Thanks for posting Barb, get some rest, and post more when you can! Praying for a speedy recovery.
Dianne & Debbie, bolt everything down , we are having quite a storm...let's hope it's noy headed your way!
Hang on tight Betty. Turn off the computer, and lock things down!
Its hot as anything here...but clear. Weatherbug shows it just passed you and is headed to Dianne....so be careful, it looks very nasty. I do not think it is crossing the lake.
Hello To All !
((HUGS)) Betty ! Hope Sailor can get some relief... does the sun and heat aggravate his skin? Dianne... TWO weeks ? yikes ! seems like a long time to wait... "Good Save" LOL... too funny but please be careful ! Two spills in such a short time cant mean a good thing.....
Waving to Crissy... Tripadvisor.com does check orbitz and hotels.com prices too....but I always find most of those sites have the same price... not sure if any cheaper than the other.... maybe in big cities.... LK - we have had a drought too but once the sky opened up last Saturday it's been heavy Tstorms since... Hope ya'll get some rain....
Bev - your lilies are stunning! What is the diff between asiatic and oriental ? Is oriental the same as phillipine lily?
Judy - wow - your wedding pics and description made me tear up... am I just that emotional now ? or your descriptions really made me feel I was 'there'.....SO neat you are able to meet so many DG folks this year!
Laura - the Pool Party is HERE! Ya'll just let me know when! or if I can get it cleaned up ... maybe we'll have one online this Saturday night LOL....
Barb - so glad it all went well ! Waving to Shirley, Susan, Elf, and all those that are lurking and I am Missing !
Well - not sure if I had mentioned the cough I'd been having but it's been 2+ months now ! SO last week I saw an allergist and she ordered blood work.... test came back today... she said I had Whooping cough!! apparently there were cases of an outbreak of adult pertussis back around Feb/March.... so I'm not contagious but so SO Glad to have answers because this cough has been embarrassing...
Have an antibiotic, inhaler, and Nexium because she thought it was triggering acid reflux....
I'll pop back in a bit... HUGS all,
Mary
Mary, so glad you went to the Dr, and hope it gets better real soon! That is nothing to mess around with!
Storm hit here with a vengence in 2 spurts. The first 1 was around 4:30 and of course we had just finished fertilizing and watering some of the flower beds. Plus I went to the car wash to spiffy up the Tang. The winds were so strong they picked up and empty propane tank and moved it several feet. Both the cats (Streak and Sassy) howled and screeched during that wind storm and the other storm that hit aound 9pm. They have never done that before ever so I guess it really was nasty out there. Heavy rain for a few hours this evening too.
Barb thanks so much for taking the time to post after your surgery. I am so glad it went well and the staff were efficient and pleasant(often you get 1 or the other).
Pool party Sat. night sounds great Mary!! Glad you got your cough looked after. I have a chronic cough and it can be so annoying.
Loved your pics Judy! I also meant to comment earlier about Jake's success in school. Good for him and you as I know you provided him with lots of encouragement.
Crissy how is your dad doing now some time has elapsed since the huge storm?
Betty when is it you see the doc about your bite? Something got you but good!
Just took Blueberry muffins out of the oven so be sure to have one or 2 or 3 with your coffee.
Dianne
Morning all, dull out there, no telling what kind of weather we'll have today!! Storm cooled things down last night so that's a plus. One fatality that I've heard of..light pontoon plane turned upside down, pilot unable to get out and drowned..bystanders were unable to get him out, how horrible for them!
My problems are minor..lightning was severe, no longer have a cable box and not sure if the t.v. In living room will work again..lots of tree branch debris but otherwise all is ok. Other local towns will have a lot of clean-up..
Not sure if I'm meeting up with Jeff tonight, have to call him this morning..my hopes were to meet my sister on the outskirts of the city, drive to NewMarket and have supper, exchange Christmas gifts/birthday gifts (imagine) then meet up with Jeff and get the e-reader uploaded with books.
On my way home last night I went to Pau's and did measuring for the bow rider tarp, a days work..will order canvas this morning, hoping they have some in stock.
Mom called me last night and asked if I had time to put the afghan
squares together .. Told her between being sick this spring, doing the gardens and other commitments I hadn't been able to get to it, she
basically said she needs it NOW, doubtful but best I get it out and get it done!
Debbie, see that there is a storm watch today for your area so be on guard..hoping you don't have appointments today as it will be a hot/humid day for you.
Dianne, only good thing about the storm is we'll not have to water today. Lucky that the propane tank didn't hit the tang nor hail dents on her beautiful body! Can't believe the 2 week wait for the MRI results..think when I had mine done this spring they said within 5
bussiness days.
Mary, whooping cough? Don't often hear of it..remember having it, more you try not to cough the more coughing you do..let's hope the meds eases the coughing..oooh guess I have to go look for a new bathing suit if I'm heading to your pool party Saturday night..will you have enough towels?
Hate not knowing what I'm up to tonight..must pack up the cable box incase I can get it replaced at a Rogers center..then get things organized to the furies should I not get home until quite late..if I can find the patter sketch for mom's afghan design might even bring it with me so best I get a move on..
Gab when I get to work.
Was on another thread and saw that Susan has posted ...hoping she'll not mind my sharing..
Carol - such good news for you - I'm really happy for you!!!
Susan's post:
My news isn't so good - I lost my job today "No cause" they said, but it ended at noon.
I was physically sick all afternoon, then went to bed and had leg cramps. My body going through the shock I guess.
Now both of us are unemployed.
Good thing is, the company waited until my probation was over then they gave me severance for 6 weeks pay. Guess they thought enough of me to do that. All they had to give was no notice before the probation was up, and only 2 weeks severance after probation up.
I also have free job counseling, etc. for 1 month and some other stuff I
haven't looked thoroughly enough at. Will do that when my brain settles down.
omg there are no words to say how badly I feel Susan...
Sending hugs and prayers that both you and hubby get through this and that better jobs await you!
I'm so sorry Susan. Norm is unemployed right now too and with me retired it is not easy....I will pray extra hard for you my friend....
Barb, you are up early, feeling o.k.?
Goodness LindaKay, just watching a USA channel and they were interviewing farmers from Texas, went on to say just how bad the drought is and severe heat..will do a rain dance tonight in hopes it rains for you all!!
Soooo many problems in the world today..
My tummy is tipsy turvy just thinking of susan's plight!
Morning everyone! Yes it is bad here in Texas. No rain, and triple digit heat! Hardly anyone has a lawn left. It is all brown and crispy.
Sorry to hear you all had storms last night! Praying the damage is minimal. Sorry to hear about the pilot drowning.
Betty, do you have a Dr.s appointment yet for your headaches and that sore on your forehead?
Oh Susan that was a shocker! Bet you didn't even see it coming.Sending positive thoughts and prayers to you and your DH.
Morning Barb! You see the Doc today don't you? Exciting time for you - now you will be able to see all the things you thought you saw but really didn't.
Laura what are you up to this morning? When does school end for your kiddies?
LK, Betty and I am pretty sure Debbie and myself would gladly share some of our rain with you.
What you up to today Debbie? Making another run to Rochester today?
Time for more coffee. BBL
Dianne
This weather has been so extreme this year, way too much rain in some area's, and way too hot in others!
How are you feeling after your falls? Not too sore I hope?
Girls just came in, all having trouble getting in due to down trees/no hydro so guess I got off a little easier!
Jeff just called, we'll not be meeting up tonight seeing as he'll be coming home tomorrow for the celebration LeeAnn's having, celebration of her marriage so saves me a trip to the city as he'll do the uploading on Saturday before going home.
Waiting for 10am to call for doctor's appt., most likely have to wait a week.
LindaKay, was watching the news, farmers were even selling off cows and horses because of no feed..terrible situation. Guess there is no way to keep your gardens watered? Do you have a water band going on..
Dianne, I'd glady share the rain..not minding the nightly rain and sunshine days..weeds are loving it as well, hard keeping up with them..glad I don't have manicured gardens..sooo many flowers that what's a weed or two lol
Yes, they just announced a it a few days ago. No watering the lawn, but a few hours one day a week, and then only when you hand watering. No one can use sprinklers, or wash the car, unless it is on the lawn. Big fines will be issued if they catch you wasting water.
Pretty sad about the farmers, no water to grow fields of grain or grass for the farmers, and hay is to expensive to buy. Guess that means price of beef will go up too!
Thanks so much for all your good wishes my friends. I'm getting ready to head to the dr's so he can take this patch off. I was going to ask Judy if I could borrow Skittles and have him on my shoulder but it is too far for him to fly!!!!! I feel fine Betty - just a bit anxious....
I'm looking forward to being able to see more Dianne as long as it isn't the bear!!! She was big enough as it was!!!! I'll post later this evening...
I was just saying that..yikes, poor chickens will be hiding their heads hoping they won't be the meal of the day!
Guess greywater could be used, bath water/dishwasher water...no sense having rain barrels, no rain..
where does your water come from? municipal or dug well? any lakes/streams nearby?
Best of luck with the appt. Barb..I'm sure he'll have great news..
Our water comes from an underground natural spring.
that would be a plus wouldn't it, is it on your own property? if so how can they regulate?
Lots of questions right?
Paul was in few minutes ago, found a lovely office he said at the big Koslov mall-upper floor..his 2 daughters will be working from Penetang which would leave Suzanne (who travels quite a bit) Paul who is rarely there and then me...we talked about my working from that office vs. working from home..said he'd like me to try it..said I'd love it, the way it's organized I could have my painting set out, crafts etc. and not have to move them should a client come in..told me to go have lunch at that mall then go see the office complex on 2nd floor!
We'll see, I keep saying I shall retire but seems I continue working..lol..will throw in that I want a few more days vacation here and there for travelling purposes..now would be the time to ask
Beautiful area LindaKay..when I travelled Texas in 1990 it was either along the coast to Padre Islands and then up the center i.e. Dallas, San Antonia..it would be so much more fun now seeing it from a friends point of view!
Del Rio, has a big pump station on the springs, and that is how we get our water. Wish we had a well here, but most of those that try to drill a well, hit sulfa water, and it is no good! Smells like rotten eggs. They say it is drinkable, but you have to hold your nose to get past the smell! NO THANKS!!!
Our home on the lake had water supplied by lake and we had a system that clarified the water..Roger's uncles who lived up the hill from us built on rock and drilled..omg they had sulfar water and that is exactly what it smelt like..ruined clothes, always yellow film on everything..not good..
I now have municipal water..for water and sewer its $450. every 3 months..guess I can count myself lucky that I don't have to worry..we do have limited use during droughts..even house numbers get to water in the early morning and late evenings on even days and same goes for uneven numbers..
Not raining but you can feel it in the air..trees are swaying from side to side NOT as hot as yesterday for sure!
Wow, our water bill is combined with garbage collection, and we pay about $70.00 per month, and I thought that was bad!
Good morning!!
OH Linda kay, your area is sooo pretty.
I like how they did the time line.
Barb, so glad the procedure went well!! hope you get a good report of healing today.
Awe Skittle would love to hang out on your shoulder!! Shell chat your ear off and give lots of kisses to feel better!
Raining all morning here...Big bummer, thought jake could help out side but no go! Now he is getting ready for his final today!
Tomorrow last day of school...woohooo.
Finishing up my project for RWB swap, skipping for joy, it's turning out just like I've been dreaming for the last 2 years!!
lol, just might make one for myself too.
Ohh, Betty, can't wait to hear about the new office, wow sounds like a great room you'll have!
LindaKay, our garbage collection is in with Municipal taxes so although we pay we don't see a bill..so you don't have water or sewer bill??
Judy, sounds wonderful and yet one more step closer to home!!! lol don't mind the idea just wish I could work a shorter work week..we'll see!!!
Your R/W/B swap sounds exciting, can I have a peek unless of course it shall be crossing the border, if so then I can wait..
Been looking at how to make a waterfall all morning, easily done if you have a backhoe but if not, bit more difficult using my own strength for lifting rocks..ooops forgot to telephone doctor's office..must do
June 21st at 3:30pm..always forget to call, thanks for reminding me!
Been watching the Tudors - yikes Anne Boleyn is just now being beheaded..14 more episodes to go..history isn't kind in a lot of cases..
Yes, our water and sewer bill, is combine with the garbage. Nothing priced like yours!
know you don't think so but that is a bargain!!!
Went to see the office at Koslov Center..omg I'd love to work in that office, only would be 2 of us most of the time, plenty big..like the fact that it's upstairs and all is glass, even the walkways across top of mall..lots of great shops and I could entertain myself by looking down and people watching..Suzanne had some concerns re storage/file cabinets but we will see!!
Dianne I have a chronic cough too, Mary I am so glad you got that checked out! YIKES!!
Funny how we all pay differently according to where we live. I don't live in the municipal area so my stuff is all over the place. I have private water for about $35 a month, no garbage collection, no city fees, electricity is about $120 a month (last month it was $95, this month it will be closer to $150,) no gas, no sewer, that's it other than county, state, and land tax which run $1015 a year. Yes I love living in the country!!
Now that would be different, working in the mall! Talk about some serious people watching, how fun!!
Hello To All;
OH So so sad for Susan... I hope after she takes a little break she picks back up just the cheery person that she is... so resourceful too... and it definitely sounds as though the company tried to leave her with some help...
LK - wow a Water Ban! To think we had the same drought... then now it's been so soggy since Saturday with Tstorms I find myself wishing rain would stop (but then I have to stop thinking that).
They are giving free rain barrells away ... I read somewhere... I need to look into that... know hubs would love that as well. He doesn't like giving the plants the chlorinated hose water at all....
when MIL and I visited that plantation, they had the cisterns all over... woudl be neat to build one that looked maybe antique...
Betty - Just wow - when your DMom asks for her afgan NOW... does she even stop to realize that you said you were sick ? I wonder if DSD's mom will be like that. I am sure she will have to be cared for... has never taken care of herself....
Pool Party Saturday night then ! LOL... I should have Plenty of towels. Hubs got a bunch of brand new ones - with tags on - from the auction...few years back... Wow - you remember having whooping cough ? I don't know anyone who has had it... Dr. said it used to be called the "100 Day Sickness".... I'll have to google or "wiki" it...
Barb..... AAargh... ahoy there matey ! Love the parrot comment... Sure Skittles would play along... I'm sure everything went fine but please let us know....
I'll pop back in a bit...
Mary
