Morning everyone.
Betty, glad you have your treat money for yourself.
Dianne, so glad to see you posting. Sorry to hear about your computer. Glad your back with us.
Bev, please keep those doors locked. Praying they find them soon. The sheriff's office and border patrol was cruising our neighbor hood for hours yesterday, as they had found a few illegal's in the area, and had them rounded up, but they escaped, so they had to find them again.

Glenview, IL

Hi...Thanks Liz!!

Yes, we are good...Was a bit scarey for a little while, but just stormed.
even that sort of split of in two. These poor people that did get hit, Have to say a prayer of thanks.

Joyce and Aunti made it home ok too...Thank Goodness.

Safe ride home

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Late start today ladies but we are okay here. We only had horrible thunder and lightening and heavy rain. High winds but nothing rotating!!! Did have only a few minutes of hail but nothing serious. I'm terribly worried about my cousin and her hubby who live in Westfield, MA. There was a death there and we can't seem to get through yet by phone. They don't have a cell phone so we may end up taking a trip to make sure they are okay. She is one who wouldn't let you know if she needed help. Just wish we would hear something soon.
I'm so glad to hear Joyce and Jean got home safely. And I tried to call Judy last night but had a horrible time with static!!! That's never happened before. I'm so glad she posted so I know they are all right.
I just had a phone call from Mittsy and she is now in NH too. She is going up to Keepsake Quilting (where I took Judy) for their big sale and will pop in here on Sat on her way back. It will be great to see her again. She said she must have been just ahead of the storms driving over here from NY. The sky was dark and just started to hail and rain as she arrived. Said it was a good thing she didn't know about the tornadoes until after she got here!!!!
Waving a quick hello to everyone as Norm's calling for help with shopping plans. Talk again later~~~~~~~

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Dianne!!! Great to see you back! That's some skimming you do!

Mary it's not an Elvis event, he just plays around with it in bars and sometimes he'll get a few guys together and they'll do something at a rest home. He used to do it all the time in Modesto but he lost all of his buddies when he moved to Joplin.

LIZ!!!!!!!!

((((((((((((((((((((((JOYCE))))))))))))))))))))))) I hope your dad's stroke wasn't a bad one sweetie.

We have those duck tours in Hot Springs, they're fun!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Barb, will keep your family members in my prayers, let's hope you hear from them soon, they must realize you would be worried sick...

Wish I lived closer so I could join you and Mittsy at the fabric store...still looking for Xmas fabric..

Crissy, have it bundled, but was waiting for them to decide if the strike for post office settles..thought if not, had a few things to mail I'd cross to your side in a few weeks..we'll know postal results at midnight tonight

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Surprise!

I'm sitting here deciding what to start on next. I made some Creamcheese Brownies and I think I'll mix up the deviled eggs I'm taking to a party that I'm going to this evening. The gals from work are having a thank you party for our manager as she has changed positions at the hospital. We'll miss her as manager, but will still be able to keep in contact with her. I am gonna take some folding chairs along, so will need to bring them up and wipe them off. I hung the comforters out on the line I washed at the laundry mat yesterday. They are probably dry by now. I made the extra bed up again after washing all the sheets and so it's ready for this week end. My DS from MO is coming Sat. morning and then Sunday will go up and help my Mom celebrate her 87th birthday which is not until the 7th. My DB and wife from Lincoln are coming and he is making BBQ'd ribs and baked beans. I will take the potatoes and onions along to put on the grill. My DS from Lincoln will bring the cake. I am going to go up to my Mom's Friday morning and spend the day and night with her and will come back Sat. after the sis from Lincoln comes. She has been with my Mom since she fell last week and went back last night and we have a Home Health gal that comes in twice a day and checks on Mom to make sure she eats and is okay. I'm gonna take a perm along and give her a perm as next Wed. my sis and I are moving Mom to the Nursing Home. It will be hard, but we'll try and make the transition as easy as possible.

I will go out and make the bed in the kids camper that they left here and put some stuff away. I have extra towels, etc. so will put that stuff in there and then it will help clean some of the excess I have out of here.

I mowed and used the weed wacker all day yesterday and my arms are a bit sore from the weed wacker and my back isn't use to the rider mower, but I just need to get up and move. I still have a long ways to go, but will tackle it a bit at a time.

It's suppose to get hot and humid today and most of the days from now on. We went from having the furnace on the early part of the week to thinking about having the A/C on. I will hold out as long as possible. I have a few plants to get in the ground yet, so will see what I can all get accomplished before I go play.

Hope you all have a great day and hopefully the weather will straighten out soon for everyone. God Bless you all.

Love, Shirley

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well I'm all tired out after reading your post SHIRLEY!!! Lordy girl you are a busy one...helps thought doesn't it to pass the day..by night fall you are surely so exhausted that sleep comes quickly! Sorry to hear that you will have to find a home for your mom but she must know it's in her best interest! A worry as well for all of us who are aging!!! Let's hope when our time comes, should it come, that we are still in good mind to understand that our children are doing what is best.

Wonderful that you are getting company who will be able to help out..

No wonder dear friend you are exhausted..not an easy job cutting large parcels of grass and weed eating with the snipper..finally I went out and purchased a very light weight one, certainly not commercial strength but leaves me feeling less exhausted when putting in a day of yard duty.

Was going to get my perm tonight (see if you lived closer Shirley you could give me a good perm)... ended up changing it to Tuesday, want to give my forehead just a tad more time to heal incase some of the perm solution drips on it...so, tonight after work I'll go looking for a/c unit that is portable..several types on the market, will price them out and maybe pick one up in a few weeks.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Shirley, I agree with Betty. Makes me tired just reading what you have been doing and planned! Enjoy your party at work and your week-end with the family. Sending prayers for your Mom. Sorry to hear she fell, and praying she was not hurt too bad.

Lyndonville, NY

Crissy are you at work today? Meant to ask, did you get your toothbrush base from Betty yet?

Was wondering if you did you could take a pic of it for me....our dentist said the kids need something like that, and sure is EXPENSIVE the ones I have been looking at.

PT was brutal this morning, arm stretches brought tears to my eyes, but AJ packed me up in "warmth" first off......then after the workout did the stim/tens machines. Motrin soon as I got home!

Shanes Senior concert tonight....and although I am ready to string him up right now...will wait til AFTER the concert as he will throw a fit and not go when he finds out he may be grounded!

I will defaintely take pictures!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm sending prayers too Shirley. You will have greater peace of mind regarding your Mom once the move is made for her. Will she be close enough for you to visit often?

Got part of the office cleaned out today and Norm and I are finally gettting this place in order again. We have so much to send to the swap shop!! If it hasn't been used - out it goes!!!

I still haven't heard anything regarding my cousin. I honestly don't think she would call just to let us know she is okay. She only calls when she needs to know something....I don't think she realizes how worried we would be. If we haven't heard from her over the weekend, Norm and I will dirve down..

I'm off to get some cleaning up finished. Be back later....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Although it's extremlely windy it is hot and muggy, of course makes it worse when the a/c does not work here in the office!

Barb, it's endless, you just got to wonder how we gather so much within so short a time..did a lot of spring cleanin and i's time to purge again. Many if we do a bit of a time we'll manage to get rid of more..what on earth will you do with all the extra space lol Not very thoughtful of your cousin not to let you know..funny how some people know your telephone number when they need something but tend to forget it at other times!

Debbie, lol, think your bark is far worse than your bite..enjoy the concert..when is the last day of school, shortly?

Lyndonville, NY

Shane finishes school June 13th...has a few tests afterward....and Graduation is June 24th.

We just got back from ordering his tux....black and teal. Yep, styling!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Not a question of my cousin not caring - she doesn't think that others worry about her.
I finally got through on the phone and she and her DH are okay. A LOT of damage around them but they only got minor wind damage. Lost a few potted plants and their lawn chairs!!!!
But they themselves are okay and are out helping others. That's why we couldn't reach them.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Shirley!!!! I'm so glad you get to be around friends!! Look at you go, WOW do you mind sharing some of that energy with me?? LOL

Debbie those stupid toothbrushes ARE expensive, but let me tell ya, I used to have at least 2 cavities filled every 6 months, since I got that toothbrush I haven't had a single cavity! So they do work!!

Oh dear, losing the computer, I'll be back later!

OH Yes I am at work Deb! :)

Lexington Park, MD

Shirley I need a nap after reading everything that you have done and are going to do.
I think your mom will know it is the right thing to do by putting her in a nursing home.
Will it be closer for you to visit?
Betty did I miss something about airconditioning in your home?
Crissy what kind of tooth brush is this????
Barb so glad your cousin and her DH are ok. And they are able to help others and not be the ones that need the help.
Getting ready for another trip next weekend and My little ones b-days.
Betty the squash bug has no enemies in the USA. No sprays kill it. You have to get the bug and put in a container of soap and water or squish it.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

We just had a dinner guest pop in!!! She pulled down the feeder and really enjoyed her dinner after sending her two cubs up a tree. We took several pictures and after she finally dragged the feeder off into the woods, we went in to the computer to see what shots we got. Then, while we were inside, back she came and bent the shepherds crook down to the ground and opened the suet holder. It held two cakes and off she ran with one. We know she will be back for the other one. I guess it's no more birdseed for a while.
We knew a bear was around last night as our full feeder was on the ground and empty when we got up
this morning. We figured it wasn't damaged badly so we refilled and said we would take it inside at night. We were eating dinner at 5pm when Norm said "Holy 99it!!" and there she was with her two cubs.
Judy said they didn't see any wildlife all the time they were here - I'm sorry they missed this!!!!!
Edited to add - look just to the left of the feeder! It's one of the cubs going up the tree!!!

Drats, this house is so quiet, already miss my men!!

Went to home depot after work and purchased the portable air conditioner, self evaporating and off season can be used as dehumidifier..my a/c is only a few years old but each season it's 'Greg would you put it in the window'. Then 'Greg, will you come take it out of the window' besides I've just replaced all my windows and don't want to do any damage..this one is on wheels and you just roll it to wherever you want..Greg is at Noah's school and will drop in on his way home to bring it into the house. Seeing as there. Was only one more on the shelf I thought if I waited much longer I might not have found another..they had a zillion window units though..I'll make sure the new one does the trick and if so I'll set the other one on the roadside curb with a sign that says 'free to good home'

Glad Barb that your cousin and hubby are safe..must have misunderstood a post...

Laura, the bugs would stay, no can do the squish thing!
I see quite a few ant hills outside, should have remembered I needed ant spray or ant powder, will hae to pick some up tomorrow.

Debbie, Shane will look so spiffy in that tux, you'll have a tear or two for sure, see g how grown up he is.

Kyle finishes school about same time as Shane and has exams week after...think heS anxious for year end..can't believe he's heading not grade 11' seems like yesterday we were all in a kaflunk over him starting grade 9...time flies!

Cathy was here today and got all my grass cut..left me a note to say all the beds have been stripped and bedding downstairs waiting to be done so I best get down there and put 1st load in the dryer..

Chat after

Victoria Harbour, ON

Holly heck Barb, that is a bit too close to comfort..think tomorrow morning you should go purchase a whistle to hang around your neck when outside..seems if they are nearby and you blow it, the high pitch drives them crazy and off the go..

What a photo...sure do miss the farm, always had animals wander near the house..although scary it was amazing to see wildlife so near!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

We were up on the deck. She was about 18 feet away and didn't seem to care one way or the other that we were there. The first steps toward us and we were inside!!! Norm called the police to let them know there was a family of them here and all they said was to stay inside and take pictures and to let the bear do whatever she wanted!!!! We did!! and she did!!! These were the cubs!!

She just came and took the other suet cake. She has cleaned us out!!! Plus she took the thistle we had out for the finches!!!!

Bet your adrenaline is working overtime, beautiful photo's, people pay $$$ to go see bears and here you have them in you own backyard...
Lol at the police, guess they didn't want to tackle them..just a mom feeding her babes...

Greg came over, not sure which impressed him the most, the portable a/c or my not attempting to take it out of the car myself!!

Got a call about 1/2 hr. ago, said it was the barrie police, that I had $300.00 in past due tickets and a warrant for my arrest was being issued...told them they had the wrong lady, was not me!! Here is was a cousin's son that used to spend a lot of time with Roger and I when he was just a wee lad..thought he'd call to tell me how wnderfiul he's doing but especially wanted to tell me how he fell in love with my St Bernard 'chico' when he'd visit so today, his st. Bernard was born, will be getting it in 6 to 8 weeks...reminded him about the slobbering but he said the breed he was getting didn't was a non-slobbering breed..never heard of that breed ..sure made my night. He lives about 3 hrs. From here in cottage country and only a few miles from his uncle Paul who is my godson so I pro used one weekend I'd pack up and go visit!!

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

OMG Barb ! The pics are great... bears look so cute but I'm scared for you.....don't know that I'd be able to go outside....please be careful ! They've had a lot of talk of the floodwaters sending more wild animals our way but no way they'd come as far as the house....
Shirley - SO glad to 'see' you ! And you sound so upbeat... and like the others... I'm exhausted at all you get done :o)... you are such an inspiration! So glad you could spend time with friends and it sounds as though the whole family is getting together to help Mom out... that's great...
Crissy - not sure what Duck Tours are ! LK - hope you lock your doors as well. Waving to LizRainey

Betty & Laura - think you are exactly right.... "Go with the flow" it is. Betty - gorgeous pics... is that a native azalea ? and pls let me know what the purple flower is... looks like something ELF grows.... Sad to see the guys leave. RE: the TV station... just pray for a "Slow" news day... they will be looking for a compelling story and Kyle's certainly is. Laura - I've killed about 4 squash plants... so suppose I'm worse than a squash bug... LOL....
Bev will pray for those experiencing storms and loss... so many freak Tornados this year... how sad.

I'll pop back in a bit... ((HUGS))
Mary

Lyndonville, NY

Mary, a "duck tour" is when you get in this "truck/boat" looking thing, it takes you on a tour of the city....and then suddenly, will turn at a boat ramp....and your in the water getting the "duck tour" of the city by water view. It really is quite awesome.

I think Betty took her Grandsons on one in D.C. last year.

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

Sorry I've been gone so long, just very busy with the warm weather. Have to take advantage of it for the short time we get it........LOL.

So glad to see so many sticking their pretty heads in to chat..........

The bears are so cute ,but so scary !!!!!!!!

Went and got a new Tat today , I've known the guy for about 3 or 4 years and had seen some of his work and like it ,so I decided to treat myself ! He is trying to get his shop running at full speed........But I couldn't believe he only charged me $60 for it as big as it is and with so many colors......Plus he had to free hand draw it from my description on paper before we could ever start.

Morning all, it's a sunshine day in my neighborhood and calling for much the same all weekend so am excited as can be!!

When I get home this afternoon I will pop into a nursery and get some trailers for the pots and deck boxes and play gardening as tomorrow will be a long day working at mom's and Sunday with the bike ride...

Mary, I will try to fi d some photo's of our Washington trip to show you the duck tour..here is a link to what it looks like

http://www.trolleytours.com/washington-dc/dc-ducks.asp

Synda, not knowing much about tattoos, I would have thought the first days after getting it done, the design would not be as clear and it would look sooo painful..I'd get one somewhere if it were not for the pain..they should come up with skin dying, might go for that..gorgeous though particularly the drawing and you can't beat the price!!

Barb, bears back for breakfast!

I'm running behind this morning but did make the coffee...will pick up the donuts on my way to work at 'times' for all! Your favorite?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Laura it's a SonicCare Essence Electric Toothbrush, I paid $70.00 for it. They are wonderful!

LOL Betty, I bet he put you in a state of shock for a minute!

OMG Barb! That's dangerous, I bet they're cool to watch from a distance...indoors!

Synda that's pretty!

I had a flat tire this morning!! I was getting off of the interstate and my tire light came on so I hauled it down Central Ave and when I pulled in the parking garage it was almost flat. The valet guys put the spare on for me so now I need to go get it fixed, guess I should go do that, I have about a billion errands to run at lunch and had it all planned out. Poo.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Never fails Crissy, plan out your day and something always goes wrong..shouldn't be a problem seeing as you can drop off the one the men took off and pick it up after work..hope it's not the tire itself with your vehicle being so new...I never take that little tire pump out of the car since I had problems when you and I were in Tennessee..a must!!!

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!!
Were home...

We arrived at the Airport at 8 but didn't get home till 10.

House still standing, although it has had lot of water rolling in through basement windows and down the stairs, not once but twice.
Poor julia was trying hard to keep switching out buckets, finally gave up. lol, not much you can do until it stops.

OMG, Barb!! Yeppers I would have loved to see those bears in your yard...You know funny thing too, while I was out looking, thought I kept hear noises, but when I looked didn't see anything, sigh! What great shots you have of them too.

So, this morning I've already been to school 2, now i have got to sort of Organize my day...Skittles is mad at me right now...lol, won't come out.

But I will show you a nice picture from the Wedding...It's from the end, Nicole & I with her bouquet....
Mary, Mary, Wow, look at the similarity of the dresses!! I took a double at your nieces, who was Gorgeous. One can almost think it's the same dress, but Nicole didn't have shoulder piece.

Oh I just love the photo, everyone jumping for joy!!

ROFLOL...you all, notice i don't have my normal cheesy smile?? It's because, i FORGOT my teeth! Told Barb on phone she gets to meet me all natural!! We had a good giggle.

Thumbnail by Seedtosser1
Victoria Harbour, ON

Beautiful bride Judy...yes, the dresses are so similar!!! Must be this years fashion style if wedding dresses go with the trend!

JUDY/JUDY how on earth could anyone go and forget her teeth..I'm so laughing, leave it to you girl! You are indeed one of a kind.

Glad your vacation went so well..ahhh poor skittles, showing you it's not right to leave him home just with the kids.speaking of kids, must have been frustrating their trying to rid the water in the basement and not being able to keep up with it..Steve will soon have to do a dig around foundation, put in crush stone so it does not continue happening otherwise the mold will do your health in..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Crissy, sorry to hear about your flat tire. Sounds like you picked up a nail somewhere? Hope you can get it fixed quickly.
Judy, glad to hear your home, sounds like you all had a good time, with or with out your teeth! Love the picture, can't wait to see more of your trip!
Looks like it will be near 100 again today! I think they said 98 degree's. So I have been out in the garden, re-potting a few plants, that needed bigger pots, and fresher soil.
Betty, how are your morning glories doing? You should have seedlings popping up?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Eating one of the best b.b.q. pulled pork on a bun that I've ever had..little truck set up right at the Liquidation Centre I frequent...got to say I will go back!

The liquidation store is the drop off for Cosco Stores, I was looking for an e-reader for step-father..
they have a Aluratek -libre..includes an mp3 player so I've sent the link over to Jeff to make sure it has everything I need for him to download war and cowboy books before I purchase it..lol

Lindakay, they are up about 1"..planted morning glories and sweet peas, perhaps i'll have more growth shortly...Going to the nursery on my way home, will check to see if they have potted morning glories so I can purchase a few and make up some pots...

Heavy duty weather in your neck of the woods LindaKay, don't know how you all survice, humans and plants with such weather..would do me in!!!! No wonder you are always up early..how are your gardens doing?

Well booked my vacation for when Barb comes to visit end of August..now trying to see how I can get a few more days the weekend Judy is having her get-together...my thoughts are Paul wants a tarp done for the boat..just know it will take a day or so..normally he'd say work from home but I think I'll do it on my own time and tell him I'll trade off for the Friday or Monday, who knows, perhaps both..put a bug in Ann's ear that I need a co-pilot, might do her good to get away..

Also, Debbie, if in any way you could go, I could pick you up and drop you off???

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, no way this year. Between issues with the house/financially....So much happening, Graduation, Grad party, two family weddings.....and then DS going off to college last week of August.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Whew! Tire is at the tire shop, yup I picked up a nail, better than having to replace the whole tire or the valve stem.

Wow Debbie you are up for a busy summer!

When I get home I have to get out in the heat and dig up some iris to take to the RU tomorrow, ppttthhh WHY do I always procrastinate?? LOL!!
