Betty there are many applicants. Everything is 'if' until I sign that paper. If I don't apply for it I'll lose my private office and go back to being just a secretary, I won't get fired or let go, I just stay stagnant, and with my BA I don't want to be stagnant, that's the whole purpose of getting the BA in the first place, I want out of General Office work and do something more stimulating.
Pretty pics you two ladies!!!! Dave told me today that I can have the whole area above my storm shelter all the way to the back of the property, probably an 8th of an acre there! WooHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My iris are way done and my lilies are blooming! I'll have to get some pics to download Tuesday at work.
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..
Omg Bev, is that this year..wow and double wow, look at those colors..maybe I should plant some..after looking ay yours I planted about 20 but remember the bugs were here last year and totally ate them, don't see them this year, think I'll go check after.
Will take him some time to adjust Bev, has he been kind when you visit?? Would imagine he's less than happy being there...
LindaKay you know my doors are always open..as for time, unbelievable amount of time playing in the gardens
Another month and I'll so say 'it was worth it'!
I've tried everything to find a program on my computer that allows me to chop/brighten/darken and zippo...anybody download a program that I can do same????
Need a better camera that's for sure..Christmas is gone/birthday is gone/mother's day gone..drats..why can't they make another celebration..need a camera! lol
So Crissy what will you do with your piece of heaven?
Wow, Linda just called, she's at a BBQ with step-daughter with purpose of of planning her wedding..believe it's end of
July, anyway she just called wanting to know if I'd paint 50-75 wine glasses..pattern, white and black Shasta daisies..add that to the mix of doing paul's boat tarp, mom's 80 th birthday here, gathering at judy's, the construction workers this week, going to be a busy summer but you know me, I will enjoy!
Betty I don't know, since we have nothing but rock and red clay I'm thinking about doing a couple of raised beds with a bridge between them. I need to get online and look at some patterns to come up with something pretty and cute. Or maybe something with a bench like you have there, hhmmmmmmmm
I just finished my application for my job so I'm going to run and take a shower, it's already 7:30 and we're going to Hot Springs to eat at Olive Garden, I found a gift card in my purse, and play for a little while. I'll see y'all in the morning!
I especially love that one Bev, white against. Purple/touch of red, spectacular..do you cut and bring inside? As much as I love flowers can't seem to do so except for lilacs
Crissy, enjoy your evening ..love the olive garden...
So many things you can do with your garden ..planning is half the fun!
Linda asked me this morning how much of the gardens were here when I moved in, only a couple of iris on side of house..fun watching it come alive..breathing life into a garden just has to. Be the most gratifying thing, bar kids/grandkids..
Almost ready to call it a night!
Betty your gardens are so pretty............and good Lord very pricey hanging baskets, like Linda Kay ,they run in th $15 range here. I just got 4 Huge Boston Ferns for my front porch and they were $10 a piece. 50 - 75 Wine glasses ,that's a lot of painting !!!!!
Love the Iris's ,some colors I'd never seen...........
Crissy ,I hate filling out any kind of App. ,good luck !
Well I am officially a Cherry ..........It was 80* today and full of sun,so Rick and I and another couple rode the bikes to the Bikers Memorial Wall Re-dedication Festival and on my winter virgin skin ,but it will tan in a day or 2. Just right now have that raccoon look from my sunglasses .........LOL. Had an Awesome time !!!!!!
Morning, broken record here, raining again, was ready to do my 'ride for trees' but not today.
Synda, much like you I burn then it turns to tan but in the meantime bet you are sore..out to get aloevera..sure does take the burn away!
Bet it felt wonderful getting the bikes out!
Next Sunday is kyle's ride for cancer he organizers every year..past 2 it has rained, good chance it will again but getting out for.
It's a long weekend for you all isn't it?
Susan, don't see you posting, wondering f you are feeling ok?
Please check in so we'll not worry...
Holly, if you are lurking know I'm sitting here I imagining the beauty in your gardens
Dianne, hope unlike my region you are having sunshine..how are you feeling, know when you are quiet it sometimes means you are under the wea the weather?? Hubby doing better...did you get the boat in yet? Foxy lady is still on dry dock!
With most of my work done I just might get so e playing in today..maybe try a few wine glasses to get the feel if I want to do them or not
Hope you all have something to keep you out of mischief today
Good morning. Fresh made blueberry muffins this morning with juice and coffee----
It's cloudy here now too Betty but not raining yet. They say we may get a shower. It is very muggy though.
I'm busy getting this house cleaned before any of my DG friends manage to get here. Judy is in Boston now - the wedding was yesterday. I'm staying in today and I'll wait for her call.
I think she is touring Boston today - a lot of history for Steve!!!
And then Mittsy will be here the end of the week for the big annual sale at Keepsake Quilting here in NH. I'm hoping she can pop in again like she did last year.
So many of my blooms this year are fading so fast because of all the rain. My lilacs were just gorgeous and so heavily scented but the rain has done them in like it did the azalea and the quince. My bridal wreath seems to be holding up well and the rhodies are just starting to open. I have one lonely clematis that is in bud. Hope I don't lose that!! My hosta and daylillies and are coming along good and full.... Norm put up a new bird feeder for me and now they are telling us to put away bird feeders because of the bears!!!! We had one destroy a feeder last year but once the berries started in June we were okay. Maybe we will take it down until next month. We will see.
Off to make some hummer food. Have a great day ladies.....
Barb, I was not aware you had bears in your area. Be careful please? Make sure Judy and Mittsy gets hugs from all of us please?
I live on the edge of a state forest and we occasionally see all kinds of wildlife. We've seen deer, fox, bear, turkeys beaver, groundhog and some I wasn't sure what they were!!!! Last year we had a feeder totally destroyed by a bear. Haven't seen one since but we have had reports of them in other areas of the state this spring...(Not heard of any near where Judy will be staying!!)
I most certainly will pass on hugs. Of course that could continue all day now as there are so many of us that are "family"!!!!!
Barb you are a busy lady..love company, seems I get energetic and clean all the corners I don't normally do! Lol
Saw my first hummer yesterday so must also make a mixture and get a few filled..my nicest feeder I cannot find so in search I must go.
My lilac trees are all but finished, not just for the season but they are ancient so I've started to plant new ones..my little Japanese quince although mini right now is not in bloom, no signs of flowers on my bridal wreath, azalea doing ok but omg hosta's are giant size this year..I would say I'm two or three weeks behind you. Breaking rain record for May sure hasn't helped, weeds are loving it though..if it clears a bit maybe I'll get more weeding done.
Love Boston..miss Roger and I going on all the long weekends to visit with friends..friends are now deceased as well..lived in Worster I think it is...Steve and Judy will will love touring Boston and you'll have such a wonderful visit..bet you are excited..Judy has enough energy and love in her , makes the room she's glow...is it this afternoon or tomorrow that they'll be visiting?
Would imagine bears are tired of the rain and not much forest food that they have to come out in search of food..drats, so nice seeing birds at the feeders...miss mine but isn't fair to birdies with my Missy being such a hunter...
LindaKay, what do you have planned today?
Smiling here, Riley is on one side of me, Missy on the other and both snoring like crazy
Lol, I'm always overwhelmed when I meet DG friends..we spend more time with them than our own families sometimes..anxious for august Barb!
Me too Betty!!! We are both really looking forward to this trip....
Judy said she would call me sometime today so I'm staying close. The wedding was last night and they were going to look around Boston today. I think they are driving up here to NH tomorrow. I hope she calls before they start out. I'm going to try to call her tonight if I don't hear from her before then. I'm thinking we can meet up a bit sooner than Tuesday.
Okay I've goofed off long enough. Back to work!!!
Cleared outside a bit so got out and edged some more of the gardens, was just about ready to try out that trimmer and it started to rain so in. Came soaken wet...now looks as though it's clearing so will try one more time..got to say I managed to get sooo much done but nearing exhaustion...
Barb, just a few hours from where she's staying to your house right..exciting isn't it.
Up and at it! Sure is pretty out there..just need flowers
Synda Thanks!!! What makes this app difficult is I can't BS about anything, he knows what I do! LOL It was weird filling out the 'current job' part, the hiring manager and my current manager is the same person! LOL!! So glad you had an awesome time on your ride! Perfect weather for it too!
Barb I live in the woods too, we have about a dozen deer that live about a half a football field from the house, there are wild hogs, rabbits, squirrels of course, fox, turkey, miscellaneous poisonous and non poisonous snakes such as cottonmouth and rat snakes, and a few other things that I can't think of right now, I'll think of them when I see them, no bears though.
Headed outside, Dave just finished weedeating I think so it might be safe for me now.
But on the plus side Crissy he knows what a great worker you so no bull is needed!!
Crissy, you are lucky to have Davedoing most of yard work..hard work..eating any veggies from his crop yet?? Maybe you should grab a lawn chair and sit and ponder what you will do in your new garden!
We have Beausoleil Island near by, rattle snake sanctuary..although it's a provincial park and mega users I've only heard of a couple of incidents..at the farm we had deer, bear, moose, even a cayote or two but here in town wildlife is minimal!
Brightening up..just did the floors upstairs , probably get some weeding done as rain has stopped..keep flitting from inside/outside..sure wish I had remembered to bring from the office the civil war pattern 'letters to home' for my quilt block swap, could get it done this evening but forgot the pattern, that will teach me not to rush out at 3:00 p.m.
Not doing much today Betty, just taking it easy. I think Todd will cook some pork baby back ribs on the grill!
What time Linda??? That sounds wonderful. Well we've got the living room all changed around (again!!) and the office and bedroom done. All spic and span now. Just the bath and kitchen/dining to go and we are done. My quilt room needs a good decluttering too but not today.
Take it easy Betty. You don't want to need to take that nitro if at all possible. You really need to rest in between urges of cleaning, weeding, etc. Knowing you the house looks great and the men won't mind!!
If I livers closer know where I'd be fors din/din Linda Kay..
Omg it's gorgeous outside, must be high 60's..sunshine city..got the weeding done, then Bernice came over for a visit..always depend on her, if she sees I'm overdoing she comes for a visit!
She is so creative, has the Victorian home up the street..she put her living room in with her kitchen, easily done as it's so big and both she and cliff have been working making country benches/primitive pieces and will be opening a cottage industry business in front room..excited for them..I walked back to her house to check out her wares and her gardens..when I first moved here I soo wanted gardens like hers, now she says she's envious of my gardens. Lol. High praise for sure!
Cliff told. Me if I didn't sleep in I would have gotten to see 5 deer in my yard a couple of weeks ago, told him it must have been a day I was on a tree expedition. Lol
Because they are making projects using barn board and tin and I was trying to figure out how to rid myself of a sheet of tin and also a thick piece of barn board he was welcome to them so now my garbage will be someone elses treasures..
Barb feels good to have everything clean and in it's place doesn't it?
Don't you worry about me, you don't overdo..I always know when I've just about had it and am nearly there..
Got the 2 deck linoleum rugs I painted that need washing, 3 set (patio table/chairs to wash and before bed give the floors another sweep/wash and that will about do it
Must call Gred to come connect propane..bought steak to BBQ..didn't have lunch yet and tummy is telling me it's hungry!!
Be a treat to go to work tomorrow just so I can rest..
So nice outside, hate to call it a day..had 1 more outdoor thing to do, attach propane tank and heat up BBQ to clean grill...simply asked Greg proper method and got told NOT to do it and not to pull my shenanigans, relax, have patience and heD come ..told me not to touch what I should not..knew better than to call him..could have been eating steak by now! Lol. Some people"s kids!!
Yeah - mine are like that too!!! They think we don't know and can't do anything anymore!!!
But it is wonderful knowing how much they care....
I just had a phone call from Judy and they are in New Hampshire!!!! They will be going to their condo and get settled and we will meet up tomorrow morning..
She asked me to let you all know that the wedding was truly beautiful. And she sends armwraps and prayers to all.
Now I can't wait until tomorrow!!!!
Betty, do you have any pictures of the rustic benches and stuff he is making? That sounds so pretty!
Barb, you must be so excited to see Judy and family. Make sure your camera is charged please?
Betty, did you ever get any pictures from your trip?
Betty, we had an explosion in the area not too long ago....a man hooking up his propane tank/bbq. He didn't make it, neither did his house.
Sit down and wait for your son.
I am waiting patiently but I'm starving, wanted steak..either I fry it on the stovetop or have grilled cheese..
Have loads of photo's LindaKay, all from linda's camera, remember I said yes when I should have said no and erased about 350 of them..drats even erased that country and western singer that had me up dancing/singing and smooching! Will post a few tomorrow
Debbie, electricity /gas and propane aren't things to play with, but just connected the tank should not be a problem but I shall listen for once!
How are you feeling Debbie? Mom called this afternoon and asked..
I can just imagine how excited you must be Barb..will they drive to your home?? How long are they on vacation?
Barb asked Ann about the card, not arrived yet but imagine it will any day..mail here seems to take forever.
Ann will be going to Buffalo with her girls this weekend. They thought it might do her good to go away.
Omg, they moved from the city when she and Mike retired..has been on unemployment since so her submission of cards had to be keyed in for past 2 weeks seeing she wasn't available for work she called to ask about her entry...when she told the staff member who had difficulties with English about Mike dying, he asked her basically what she was doing the entire week that she couldn't look for employment..got to say she's a better person than I keeping it together because I just know I'd have used some words a lady shouldn't say..be putting pennies in the cuss box for sure??
Keep saying I'm going to eat then don't so off I go for eTs, bath and a relaxing evening!
I will be fine Betty, just working the muscles like they want.
I start the official "hard stuff" PT on Tuesday.
Bet you aren't looking forward to that Debbie..guess all gardening is out of the question.
Just put my steaks in frying pan, went to put water in tub for relaxing bath and Greg came in..yep, wanted to know WHY I was cooking when I wasnT in the room..he just said the words that I reached into cupboard for salt and pepper..yikes, guess I forgot to tighten the top, black pepper all over in frying pan..had to take steaks out and wash then put them back to cook..greg's getting good at shaking his head! Lol
Connected tank, turned it on and voila, works like a charm..thought to burn off frills I'd spray with Pam..poorer, not a good idea! Continued grilling steak on stove, now if I can keep awake long enough to eat it will be a plus!!
Never bored
LOL!! Betty you have quite the time with cooking don't you! Isn't the pepper in a shaker? Did your guys ever show up yesterday?
Barb I hope you and Judy are having a great time! Maybe not yet, it's a little early, but very soon if not!!
Debbie are you ok? I know how PT is a pain in whatever part of the body your giving PT on, right now it's a pain in the shoulder! Too bad it's something we have to have.
I dug up about 1/4th of my iris yesterday, I got out there way too late so I'm about to head out this morning and see what more I can accomplish.
Morning..sunshine day, might even reach 80 but humid! Plants are going to love it.
My guys showed up about 11pm..originally schedule for around 3am ..actually Mike came looking for me to say they had arrived early incase I was concerned with the in and out...
By the time I went upstairs they had brought in all their groceries, filled the refrigerator..asked if it was ok to have a beer.
I went back to bed and from what they said this morning, morning came early as they went to bed at 4am..lol...
Mike was a fighter pilot, now a pilot for Canadian Airlines, Casey his brother, also a fighter pilot (both retired and under 45) is from Calgary and is a pilot for WestJet..Casey just flew to Caiman (?) Islands that morning..Mike's route is Hong Kong..the other gentleman owns a garage/grocery store so all are busy men...
They'll have sunshine for working on the tri-plex but humidity might do them in..seemed funny leaving the house with 3 men going to have breakfast..they made the coffee..all were chatting..cooolllll
Almost forgot, it's a long weekend for you all..Crissy enjoy playing in the garden..
Unbelievable the amount of work I've put into the gardens cleaning weeds and relocating and seems there is almost as much work ahead of me..
Tonight I'll get some rope and mark out the secondary pond and see if it shall be what I'd like it to be before I start digging.
OMG almost forgot it was DIL's birthday yesterday, would have forgotten had Greg not mentioned it..thought it was today..called her and offered her 2 choices..
gift certificate for Northern Reflection Clothing shop or Garden Gallery Nursery..she picked nursery so today I'll go on my lunch and pick it up and drop it off on my way home!
So what exciting are you all up to?
I've had a busy two days. I thought since my family was busy, I would be too. On Saturday I went in Findlay to JoAnn's and bought the backing for my quest room quilt and fabric for the toppers in the living room. I had lots of coupons and they let me use them all, so I really made out!
Then went to Best Buy and bought a printer, paper and cartridges for my grandson who graduates high school next Sunday. He told me that is what he wanted to take to college in the Fall.
Ashley Furniture was having a sale so stopped by to look for the cocktail and end tables I need and found an area rug instead. the ones I liked on-line were running about $499 and I got this one for $95 so felt good about that. then off to another furniture store where I found the tables. I wanted oval but when I saw this rectangular one with dark metal frame and wood top I feel in love. Got both of them on sale too. Now just have to get someone to help me get the large one out of the car. The end table I could manage, but the other is just too big.
Then had a great dinner of salad bar and ribs.
Sunday I watched my morning shows while having a nice breakfast, sewed the toppers for the living room and put them up and went into Findlay to the movies. Had to see Marion's heart throb, as Captain Jack. After I picked up the tables and on home to play with my poor neglected dog.
Today the sun is out and here I am inside. Was tired out from the past two days and have fallen asleep more times than I care to think reading through this thread. Stacey called last night and said she would come in 10 days or so when Chris goes to Mexico on business and help me buy and plant flowers. What I wanted for my birthday. Too little too late and so I just might go out this afternoon and buy my own plants and see if the knees will let me plant them.
Maybe I forgot to teach my kids to say "Thank you", or maybe they just don't say it to their Mom.
You have been a busy lady Janice..so glad you went on a spending spree for YOU! Great deals for sure...you've been so generous with the children, can't believe they forgot your birthday!!!
You will enjoy having Stacey and the little one (Jonathan) visiting, can't be little anymore..omg is he walking yet?
Spent the weekend gardening, buying 50 more perrenials wasn't smart ..this year I've noticed the sore back, sore knees and the amount of energy gardening takes. Are your gardens large? not like you had in Lansing though?
Twice in recent months I've passed Findlay and think of you Janice..usually either early morning or late night..
Understand you are waiting for appt. date for knee surgery? mom had it done about 1 1/2 ago and finds her pain situation much improved..let's hope surgery does same for you.
Lunch time, boss bought us all a sub and now I will run to Garden Gallery for gift certificate!
Back later
Janice you have been very busy! Tell Stacey we miss her and her postings!
Happy Birthday to Laura/housse301! Hope you have a great day!
HAPPY BITHDAY LAURA...do hope you've had the most fantastic camping experience and now birthday..
Omg, I've lost it..don't you gals sometimes get a bit worried about memory or better still things you do or see that you don't quite put a package together..
Last Friday coming in to work I noticed the tank light on showing NO GAS, it was pouring rain, thought glad I saw that or I'd be walking...checked and tank said almost 1/2 sooo who to believe, dropped in and filled the tank..started the vehicle and it still read under 1/2..knowing how many kl. I get to a tank I put marker to 0000 to keep track..
This morning I topped her up and thought I should call today and make an appt. for have it repaired..must be the float in the tank...
I MUST TELL YOU I'm ever so pleased I didn't call because I'd have made myself look absolutely ridiculous..all the time (remember car is 3 1/2 years old) I was looking at the temperature guage and not the gas tank.. how can one become so stupid!!!
Bev, lovely photo..is it tomorrow you have your meeting with Scotty's nursing home??? are you nervous about it?
yeah tomorrow. I am not nervous about it but Scotty is going to raise heck because they won't give him a private room. He has always thought he was the only one in every situation and should have his way, I am filling out 20 pages for Medicad. You have to have copies of all that you own and the value. I don't know the value of a 38 yr old trailer???????
Let's hope the 38 year old trailer works in your favor!!! They don't take into account that you sold those pieces of land a few years ago that you had a trailer on? Perhaps once he hears he will not get a private room and that he is not well enough to come home he'll settle in...can only hope right?
wow, look at those beautifies...once all your iris and daylillies are done, what else do you have in the gardens that bloom...just cannot believe your gardens..
Ohhh anxious to go home to my men lol
Oh Laura!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!
BEV you need to know the brand and year of the mobile home and I would Kelley Blue Book it, if possible. If you own the land you live on you need to get an assessor out so you can get the value of the land. I don't know about IL laws but in CA and here in AR the mobile home isn't part of the value with the land because it's "mobile." Don't cave in to Scotty's nonsense.
Wow Janice! Great to hear you're keeping busy!
LOL Betty!!! That's hilarious!! So Mike first told you they were construction workers, now he tells you they're commercial pilots?? And a grocery store owner? This makes absolutely no sense to me, how do these two commercial pilots know the grocery store owner, and how are all 3 of them linked together that they need the same week? I'm just confused, like I said, makes no sense.
