I do have to say.... commercial pilots and grocery store owners make a heck of a lot more money than construction workers do... wink wink

Lyndonville, NY

Crissy, you do know none of that matters....what matters is what the back of the jeans look like. You know...Wranglers? Sounds like the 3 of them are working an a project of building something together.....maybe they will share a house or such for vacations?

I am sure Betty will know their life stories by the end of the week!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, it is I who misunderstood..when Mike came to look at the place he had his truck and trailer with supplies on it, said that he and 2 other men would be working in the area..I took it to mean they were construction workers..as it turns out they are brothers, one lives in Calgary and flies for West Jet, the other lives in Barrie and flies for Air Canada. The other who lives also in Calgary has the gas station and grocery store..

The two brothers are investing by purchasing homes/rental properties and fixing them up as an investment..the one up the street is a tri-plex..know they are pilots as they came in with their bags directly from their flights..the two pilots know nothing about construction, the 3rd man worked for Ted Rogers, ROGERS INC.,he would go into the source stores with a team and would travel all over the country setting up their stores..soooo he'll act as boss and will try to teach the 2 pilots how to install windows and flooring!!

Will be more difficult because they've already rented out the 3 units so have to work around the tenats..is a hot and humid day, am sure it will be hard for them doing manual labor..they've just put an offer for 2 more units a little north of here.

They are securing their retirement..smart men!!

Kitchen and dining room left clean, their beds not made..just did them up, hadn't realized I missed the smell of cologne. Lol. Smells nice in the house. Lol

Debbie, didn't ask questions but Jake, owner of gas station sat and had coffee with me this morning while he waited for the brothers to get up..said they would likely be tired as one just got in from the islands and had been up quite some time and other brother had done same...said he flew in on buddy pass..for helping, part of, the brothers are giving him and his mom passes for a flight to his mom's home town which the mom hadn't been back for decades..

Tempted to make a salad for them

So humid, should call Greg about my a/c, with it being so cold I didn't think of having it ready

Well, go see what mischief I can get into

I can't cave in Crissy. I have put up with it for 32 yrs. I have to get this place straightened up. His selfishness has let it go to rack and ruin. Don't get me wrong, I am married to the man and will take care of him no matter what but I am being selfish now because I want someone to do things with and may never be able to. I just have to keep myself busy and quit thinking so much.

HA! Can I be a fly on the wall to see what this is going to end up like? Putting in windows is a BIG DEAL and not an easy task. That's going to be funny!

Wonder if he'll be willing to fly all of us to the Cayman Islands???????????????

Hot and humid you say? It's 95* today and tons of humidity to share with everyone! I got my work done by 9:45 this morning and it was already so humid out there we couldn't breathe.

Yes Bev, keeping yourself busy is key. Glad you're on the right track, keep your head up girly!

When your time was si filled looking after Scotty you are bound to find yourself with lots of time on your hands..does my heart good to hear you say you want to do things! That a girl !

Crissy, when will you turn in your resume?? Does your boss known you will do? Have you been gabbing to your dad?

Nice to see the breeze..opened all the windows and actually got a chill..bite on my forehead still giving me grief..

On the good side Paul was out looking for office space this afternoon, both in Midland ( for the girls) and in barrie for him,Suzanne, me it all depends on cost having telephone lines put into the house..should have specifics in a few weeks!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty I applied online Saturday afternoon, yes my boss knows because on Friday when I was leaving I told him I was going to apply for it, and I haven't really been talking to my dad very much, but we don't talk alot anyway, I talk to his girlfriend more. He's still freaked out over the tornado but they did get their cable and internet back up yesterday at 7:30pm. 7 days isn't bad considering all of the damage.

I'm so mad at myself, I just dropped the wire mesh to my coffee press under the fridge and I wouldn't use it if we did get it out, of course the brand I bought happens to be out of stock of all their wire meshes, not sure what to do so I guess I won't do anything. I have a regular coffee maker anyway, just poo.

Go back to the dr Betty, I'd hate to see you lose half your forehead because your flesh rotted, I'm sure you'd hate to see you losing half your forehead too! LOL

YIPEEEE!!!!!

Didn't realize Mike, the one from Barrie brought his bow rider boat and it's down at the lake, so after work the went boating and they just got in..

Didn't realize that they also bought an apartment in port mcnicoll about 8 miles from here..renovated it last fall

Crissy how long before you know about the job?

Guys are on back deck and I am ready for bed..

Gab in the morning!

Tried to read back much as I could. We drove back home today... got back around 6p... after picking up Belle from boarding. Yard was BONE DRY... so got to watering....
Betty - laughing about your BBQ steaks... I've no patience would have done the same thing. Before marrying hubs... I used to broil my steaks on a broiler pan in the oven... can't remember if it was 7 minutes total or each side? With all that pepper might taste like New Orleans blackened steaks lol... Loving the "Three Men and a Betty" saga... can't wait to hear more... !!!!

Barb... don't clean too much ! I know when I visit you I don't want you spending too much time with that! Glad you are able to report back Judy's wedding went as fabulous as my little niece (Can't believe she is married !)
Deb... PT... Hope you have a hot pt guy... and if not.. maybe you can switch...! ROFLOL "Back of jeans" comments !

Waving to Janice - good to 'see' you again ! nice to splurge on a few things ! Hope Stacy and Jonathan, etc. are all well. I do need to help my MIL as well with weeding... maybe this weekend...

Happy Birthday Lauren ! Thanks LK ! You've had the hot weather too... no rain? Usually now or pretty soon we'll start having those afternoon thunderstorms and I'm actually looking forward to them....
Bev... Good ideas from Crissy or maybe you can get the value from Ebay? if folks are auctioning those kind of trailers off ? Wondering if you can set up a privacy screen in the room to appease Scotty...

Be back in a bit... going to upload pics from the weekend...and check the laundry.....

What a wonderful day!!!! Yesterday, Norm and I met up with Judy and her hubby, Steve along with Steve's cousin Joyce and Joyce's mother, Jean. Joyce is the mother of the groom at the wedding which is why they all came to Boston/New England. We had such a good day and I haven't laughed so in quite awhile. What a crew.
We met at the condo in Ashland,NH where they were staying. What a cute place it was with an open kitchenette/living area with wonderful views of outside. (I have pictures but I don't know how to put them into a show). Anyway, here is how she greeted me when we arrived!

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

We took a ride to Squam Lake which is where they filmed the movie "On Golden Pond". It is such a pretty place and we took pictures (Of course).

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

The weather was great - a tad on the warm side but wonderful after all the rain we've been getting. We just had to take them through a covered bridge which Judy said she had never seen before.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Oops - forgot the picture. Oh well = I'll leave that shot for Judy to show you.
This is the two of us at Squam Lake.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

From there we went to Keepsake Quilting (the largest shop around and one which is advertised in most of the quilting magazines. I think Judy got fabric overload when she went inside. Thousands of bolts of fabrics. We both found things we liked...
Judy thought we would be able to have a barbeque at the condo where they were staying and bought everything needed only to find out they couldn't. She packed it all up and off to my house for burgers on the grill. She mixed all kinds of things in with the meat and they were really good!!! The guys wandered outside and after eating had a bit of a nap while I showed Judy my sewing areas and gave her some tips. We chatted and chatted and really enjoyed our visit. I have more pictures but want her to post those she would like...
I can't make it to her gathering this year but we both said we would try for Betty's in 2012.
It was a wonderful day and I just love Judy to bits. You all told me I would and you were right. Now I can't wait for my trip and the chance to meet with more of you wonderful friends...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone!
Barb, I love those pictures, and it sure shows you enjoyed each others company! Can't wait to see more pictures!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all...

No rest for the wicked, got up at 5:00 a.m. Glen was already up, had made coffee and was reading a magazine..3 hrs. before leaving for work so I got potatoes boiling, cut up for home fries, got bacon out, managed to burn nothing..Mike did the eggs..each of the mean got their lunch made and by 7:30am they were off and running, seems they had flooring to pick up at Home Depot.. left me with 1/2 hr. so swept, vacuumed and washed all the upper floors. Closed my eyes to the bags of treats on the floor, cooler in dining room, etc.etc. only a few more days and I'll be on my own and missing having a man (men) to spoil. Believe they are going boating this evening and I'll be going over to Ann's for t.v. bingo so that will be another day gone..

The youngest of the 3, Corey, is on his laptop constantly..he has another business going on in Edmonton, think it has to do with printing because this morning he was proof reading some of the logo's..was nice listening to their chatter about flights....had a bit of an eye opener though, Corey was telling me about how much time he has for himself while flying..has regular checks he must do but other than that it's play on computer and read..yikes..not sure I like that idea..usually when flying I'm thinking their eyes are on every aspect of the aircraft flying panel..maybe when you are Captain you just oversee...

Soooo that has been my morning...

Very hot and humid here today, air conditioner is NOT working so imagine by lunch their will be no air to breath. Paul is not here today, he's looking for offices, tired of management not keeping up with repairs of this building ..he's hoping by July we'll have new office spaces, still bantering as to who will be where...or with living on the water he just might be boating..lol

Now for all of you...

Barb, was exciting yesterday thinking of you and Judy meeting up and yes she and Steve are quite the pair and always a laugh..lovely area you spent your visit in..perfect day right...I know I'm getting excited about hosting an open house next year and know that with economy being such as it is, it's doubtful that many will make it to Canada but I dream many will be able to..so many ideas in my noggin'..

So looking forward to you and Norm's visit..keep telling my plants to wait a little longer before coming out just so that there will be some to greet you! Think they will listen????

LAUREN??? omg keep calling her Laura..yikes, must apologize...in so many ways I see this brain of mine losing ground!!

Mary, we're never too old to look..just as me, because I've been a lookin!!!!
So glad you enjoyed the wedding and that all went well..
Photo's please..

Am sure Judy will have some as well to share, she's a picture taker as well...

Barb, when will Judy/Steve be heading home?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Her name is Laura, not Lauren... at least that's what it says in the address exchange.
Betty, do you ever slow down, and not do anything? Sounds like you are enjoying the men in the house, even if it is for a few days!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Yes am enjoying it...

Got a call from Cathy, she often picks up my mail, said there was something from the courts..think I mentioned months ago about getting served early one morning re divorce..papers came in this morning...few tinges of regret, life goes on and one learns from past mistakes right?
I'll make sure I do something for myslf today..

No, never slow down LindaKay, when I'm dead I'll rest long enough..

This weekend mom has asked me to bring Cathy to their cottage, gardens need done and Jim is just not that great with knowing what is a flower or what is a weed so she has hired Cathy to clean the gardens, while she does so I will work with Jim to install a little pond that mom wants..have tried several times to no avail..not so sure Jim wants one lol

So between doing tarp for Paul's boat, wine glasses, work at mom's I've no time for mischief..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty I don't know, it takes time when you work or trying to go to work for the Government, it's not like private sector at all. It took me 2 months from my first interview to the date I was hired the first time. Second time shouldn't take as long since I'm already here but who knows, it depends on Legislature and about a billion other things.

Yes Barb and Judy!!!! That's awesome! Thanks for sharing those pics!! It's gorgeous up there. Judy can't wait to see your pics too!! Glad the wedding was wonderful!

Betty sounds like you're having a grand time with those boys!

Well I have about a ton and a half of work to do so I'm going to start before my day is over and I haven't gotten anything accomplished.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty, your whole comment is the truth. Is he asking for anything or does he just want to end it?

That's great for Cathy!! Glad your mom is doing better!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Actually Crissy, if you remember it was he who owed me all the $$$ I put into his home..I had and have no fight left in me! I left with less than $30.00 in my pocket and inside of a month I purchased a home, a home most would not have lived in...now I live in this moderate house which I've upgraded from paycheck to paycheck, a yard that may have had 2 or 3 wild iris to now beautiful gardens..to a life that I come and go as I please, to a life that I've been blessed with wonderful friends..no reason to be sad today!!!

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Good Morning Everyone!
I know I've missed out on alot, but my life has seemed so up and down. I just paid a bunch of bills. I still have alot of paperwork to finish before I go outside for the day to get some things done or at least attempt to get them done.
The girls from Omaha have not contacted me since Mother's day. I called the youngest one yesterday to wish her and hubby H. Anniversary, but I didn't get anyone to answer till last night and it was the hubby. I have a feeling that she doesn't want to talk to me. That's okay. I will get over the hurt. They still have stuff here they need to pick up and once they do I'm sure I won't see them again. I really don't know what has all transpired since Tubby's passing, but I never heard a word from his cousins in S.D. that I thought we were so close too. I will be surprised if I ever hear anything from his side of the family again. Funny how people's true colors come out upon someone's passing. They apparently don't realize they will be in this spot someday, and find out who cares and doesn't care. I shouldn't be venting, but I'm just a bit hurt and confused. I guess it will all work itself out down the road if it is meant to be.
We've had so much rain around here and the wind had been terrible. It has made it hard to get anything done. I need to go to town and wash the big comforters in those big machines and then I'll bring them home and hang them on the line to dry.
I better go and get my stuff started and will try and check back in later today. Please everyone hafe a good day and hope the sun is shining for all of you. God bless you all.
Shirley

Victoria Harbour, ON

Shirley, it happens more than one would like, that once your loved one has passed on people don't know how to deal with their grief so they don't! It feels like a betrayal doesn't it? I remembered thinking, 'all our friends must have been Roger's friends and not mine' then with my following Roger's wishes I lost most of Roger's family..double whammy!!!

It's like a book, we enjoy, get something from it then close the cover, rarely going back ro read..but from each book we take something with use...I've had many hard knock and the best advise I can give it that life continues and we have to make the best of each day..there are earthly angels out there just waiting to love and be your friend...

Wish you were closer so I could hug you ..

You keep dropping in and we'll be here to support you..you have many friends who are missing you and we're as close as the keyboard...

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

We are here and won't go away Shirley. We all get times where we wonder what happened to relaionships we thought were really solid. The ground shifts so easily now. Were they maybe expecting something from Tubby's death that isn't going to happen? That can have bad repercussions too. Family can be so cruel sometimes.. I, myself, would probably be happy with those who have stood by me and then I'd thumb my nose at the rest. Like is too darn short to not be happy. I'm glad you still have your friends there and at work that will help to keep you busy. And of course there is always us for those hours when we are alone and can express whatever thoughts we choose. I've missed reading your posts and good or bad, short or long, they are so very welcome to me..Take care my friend and I'll be watching for you....

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Meant to tell you that Judy and Steve will be heading home on Thurs. Today they are touring the White Mountains here in NH and tomorrow are heading down to Boston again. They have a late afternoon flight out.

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

just got this in a e-mail...thought I would share

THE FINAL INSPECTION

PLEASE DO NOT HOLD ON TO THIS NOR PRESS DELETE. SOMEONE HAS TO HOLD OUR COUNTRY IN THEIR HANDS. SEND THIS ON, AND ON

THE FINAL
INSPECTION
The Soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass..

'Step forward now, Soldier ,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?'
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
'No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear..
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

'Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell.'

THANK YOU, THANK YOU Thunder for posting that...brings tears to your eyes doesn't it..

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Always happy to see that again.....Amen

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

That is awesome! Thanks for posting that Thunder!

Yeah I remember that, but here no matter if the other spouses name is on it or not, if your married you own it jointly, probably why divorce rates are so high. Which means that he automatically owns half your house and you automatically own half his house. Now if you were to actually pursue that is a whole different story.

Shirley the words that Barb spoke is exactly how we feel!

Baton Rouge, LA

Thunder - I've got tears in my eyes.... thank you for posting that !

Betty - agree with Crissy - just want to make sure you protect yourself. As I've seen with my own situation and we're seeing with Shirley's ... when people pass on...some of the folks left behind act as you never thought they would....

Shirley - (((BIG HUGS))) and Thank you again for my hibby seeds ! Shirley - you have OUR support and we are here for you... I had similar incident when Mom passed. So vent all you want... Barb LOVE LOVE the pics of you and Judy... always wondered where they filmed On Golden Pond. Need to rent that one again.... I too am looking forward to 2012...
I'm just taking a break and need to get back to the office... so I'll pop back on with the night shift as usual....

Hello To All !

I'm back for the night shift ! Heat advisory today... and a drought... how ironic when folks think we're drowning here with Mississippi flood water!

Not sure what pic I should post... I didn't get one of just me and the bride... most of the time I was behind the camera....

Hmmmmm..... Okay here's one taken by the Professional photographer.... none of my fam is in it... but I thought it was a pretty fantastic pic... and Sarah and her dress are stunning... (I'm biased)..... oh and the groom ain't bad either..... LOL

Oh darn! Was a funny shot.... Thanks LK for checking..... Hm... I'll go for a more serious shot.... I loved Sarah's Dress....

Here's one I took in her dressing room... right before the wedding....

On the night shift for a bit, came home and the boys (men) were just leaving, said they were going boating, out for supper and home in a few hours...went to Ann's, yard looked well manicured, she's been busy..proud of herself for what she was able to do..she needed help moving a few things and putting a bed back together in the basement, did that then she had cooked a lovely meal..no, we didn't win at bingo..

Got home at 9:30 and got the flower beds watered, they sure needed it, although we had so much rain they were drooping because of the last few days of extreme heat!

Came inside and the boys still weren't home, started the what it's..Georgian bar can be rough, what if, what if..remembered I had Mike's cel number so called him, told them I was worried, lol, a mom never stops worrying even if they aren't your own

I'm now ready for bed, they are outside doing a BBQ and having a beer, am sure they won't be up at the crack of dawn tomorrow morning...

So off I go, heat got to me today, glad they are calling for cooler temps tomorrow

Mary, from what I can see, the bridal party looked like a oho to on vogue..couldn't enlarge it though so can't really see, perhaps you'll have more to share!

Night/night!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Gorgeous bride and I love the dress...omg they are adventuresome..I'm with you, string them up when they misbehave...where was that taken??

Bed is calling..wish I could stay up longer Mary..perhaps the night crawlers will come play!

Baton Rouge, LA

Thanks Betty ! Yes - I loved Sarah's dress too ! She took some great pics..her dad... my BIL is a photographer so they had a friend of his take pics.... she was excellent as could be expected. LOVE the pic of the kids...

The last day in Florida.... had loads of conflict with DSD2.... she had SUCH the attitude... Finally we took them to lunch then to "the Track" in Destin... miniature golf, go karts, bungee, arcade and this skyline machine that took them up ...

It really 'saved the day' as the kids LOVED it... then we did the wooden go karts that I love... then drove home...

I'm headed for bed... been a long long day... back.....

Hurricane season in our area starts tomorrow (June 1st). we are in a drought...I'm having to water excessively...
