Thanks for the update on Debra, so glad to hear she is OK!
She's about to...61... Spring has sprung!!
I just gave my phone number to 3 people Tuesday night. In fact, I got it sent to one and when I was getting the next one ready, the internet went out.
My poppies are coming up! Even the California poppies that I forgot to put in the freezer are coming up! Can't wait to see the orange and the purple peony ones.
These just bloomed. I planted them last year before I cared about the name, so they are now NOID's.
hello everyone, sorry i was mia, working and mopping up big water in basement it just doesn't want to stop.. i am so sorry to worry u all.. no dg at work and my office is all tore up and no putor i can get too that isn't monitored. sis is doing her new chemo every three weeks, she wants me to be there for the whole ten days i get off work for vacation when she has her surgery. hugs and loves to all, i am really tired and have to work in the early am..
Hello Debra, sorry to hear you have water in the basement! Wish I was closer to help out! Sending lots of prayers and (((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))) out to your Sister! When will she have her surgery?
We tied our record heat yesterday of 104 set back in like 1924! Today is supposed to be 103! Can you say HOT!!!!! I spend lots of time watering everything, it just seems to be melting the poor plants! My water bill is going to be so bad!
Crit, love that yellow! SO pretty. Can't wait to see your poppy blooms. Way to hot for them to grow here.
I hope they aren't planted too late to bloom. We are still having cool temps, but this week is going to get into the high 80's and maybe 90's. Will post pics if they bloom
107 today but the humidity is UP to 5% LOL I think the temp was the same yesterday! Can it get any worse???? No rain and now the heat sucking the moisture out of everything. We are on watering restrictions but I watered my yard a little last night because I knew it needed it after yesterday and what it was going to be today. Not the full watering but enought to get it through the day. Did it at 4am so I doubt if anyone would have cought me!
Hey Tammie, it is hot here too. 104 yesterday, and 106 today. All I water is the flowers, as our grass has been dead for some rime now.
Take care.
We have so much humidity here, I have to wear a sweatband when I work outside, and switch to a dry one a couple of times. My legs were even sweating, and it has to be HUMID for my legs to sweat!
gosh u guys, i was wearing a jacket at work today.. it is still kinda cool here like an early spring...
My sister is having her surgery after her third chemo unless the dr says she has to do another round, she has done round one of the second stuff, and so far her three week interval between treatments works best for her so she can work..
I am so glad so many of you have prayed for her. I know she has lost weight and her hair, and has been sick alot, and in pain from sciatica along with this stuff.. such a wonderful example of will power and postive attitude. I am so grateful for all of you and the support we have from you.
Deepest thanks, and in Memory of my mother who passed away from cancer in 2000, I have planted seeds from my mother's garden, and seeds from my sisters garden, have iris from aunt effies garden and kalancho i collected from Paulines garden before she passed. Tommorrow son and I go to the cemetary where all of these family members are and decorate them all, as we always do every year since I lost his real Dad. Now some of the day after that will be planting flowers and a tree and stuff at his place, again, and some fishing in his boat, and a kiss from his cat, Chief. Today after work, I spent some time with my daughter Rose, we had a great time and at a yard sale we went to, a lady gave me a huge clump of hens n chicks as i gave her some seeds from my garden. Rose kinda didn't approve of my gardening swap at the yard sale, but she got over it.. I have two daughters that have milestone years, Rose just turned 30, single with two cats, refers to herself as the MIddle Child, and Karin, who turns 40 in June, single parent of my 17 yr old GS , Chevy. She is a good caregiver of all her elderly on her Dad's side. She is handling her life changes well. College Girl has been holed up in her room since she has been home, beating herself up for failing College Math. She only needs a few more credits to get her Associates, what ever that is. She is our baby, and is referred to as the :baby: by her older siblings. Diane turns 43 in August and has moved so far away from us that we never see her or the GK's. That is okay for me right now. 4 daughters, 1 son, 3 Grand Fur Kittys. Enough for me ATM..
Tonight Joe and went on a date to see a movie, he said it was sad.
I miss my dog.
Love you all, and have a good day, warm or cool...((((hugs))))
Debra, we will continue our prayer for your Sister till we know she is free and clear, and completely healed frommthis Cancer! Treatments are not easy for anyone to go through, so we also send many prayers for her to have the strength to get through the sickness as well as her sciatica pain. Lots of (((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))) for both of you!
My heart goes out to all of you who have loved ones so sick. Wish we could help.
I have 3 bird baths, have had 2 of them for 15 years or more, and I have never seen the birds in either bath, but the old one DH went on the tractor and brought home from the garage sale has a bird in it getting a drink all the time. Now I just watched a robin take a bath that seemed to last forever. It is 90, humid, and windy, so I am sure he was cooling off. Neither of the other bird baths are deep, they aren't as round big as this one, but I think this one maybe deeper at the deepest point, go figure. I have two doves who visit the waterfall on the pond all the time.
Well been cleaning out the garden room, digging up iris to be moved, tree has gotten bigger and they aren't getting enough sun, gonna plant hostas there now, along with coral bells. Better go get with it.
Hugs everyeone, be safe.
Hey Gals! Just got back from our RU this morning where I was finally able to put a bunch of faces with names of folks I hadn't had a chance to meet before. We had lots of lip-smacking food, a raffle for door prizes, a wonderful group of attendees, and beaucoup plant swapping going on, so much so that most of us left the table at lunchtime when a couple of folks had just arrived bearing more plants. Gotta love plant people who'd rather see a sea of greens than eat chicken & sides, handmade cheese & brownies, and yummy hand-churned Vanilla ice cream.
{{{HUGS, Debra}}} I was worried to death about you and know now why you weren't able to answer my email. You and your family come first, especially your Sister right now. You know we love you and are always here for you, Girlie :)
My DH just came and 'drug' me out of the garden. LOL He said I'd been at it long enough for today. I get going and don't want to stop until I get all done, even if it is dark. ^_^ Guess I'll finish in the morning, or sometime tomorrow. I really wanted to get this new stuff I planted watered, but they were wet and so was the dirt so I guess they will be OK until tomorrow and I can get all the air away from the roots.
Debra, it will be so much fun to see a cross open, you will have no idea what it will look like do you?
Those are gonna be beauties. I don't have any buds, in fact I just have a few out. The ones without leaves since we have had 30 mile an hour winds this weekend.
Here are some pics from us cleaning up two cemeteries yesterday. Didn't see any snakes, no ticks (which is amazing since it has been so wet), poison ivy too soon to tell...rofl.
We were talking about remembering coming up here with our parents a million years ago. Here is my cousin with her grandson, I am sure in 40 years he will be here with his Gkids telling the same story, I remember coming up here with my DGM and her crazy cousins.
I was mowing along the rock wall when someone on the other side of the wall yelled at me, I like to have jumped out of my skin, course everyone else cracked up. Guess if you are gonna die from a heart attack it might as well be at the cemetery! There stood 4 people I didn't know. There were two elderly women with a man and woman, the woman were Aunts had told their nephew about the cemetery and they found the cemetery on the internet and decided to come up, if they physically located it. These are mostly deserted cemeteries located on private farms, in the middle of no where.....rofl, these are true old family cemeteries started in the 1800's. Since I do genealogy I knew we had to be realitives in some fashion, I didn't have my genealogy stuff with me, but we did find the headstones and piece how we were related. They took lots of pictures of headstones and I got one of the Aunt's email address and I am going to send her some stuff. That was fun, but sadly they didn't offer to help....rofl.
This is my cousin and her DGS, my cousin is having major surgery. They found a mass behind her stomach and pancreas. She is being operated on by a transplant team today, surgery will run 4 to 8 hours depending on how the mass is attached, they can't tell until they get inside. Course they don't know about the mass either. She was happy to have her mind and body busy yesterday. We are very close, her birthday is a week after mine, her sister is suppose to call me every hour and tell me something. She is in great health except for that one minor detail so we are expecting her to come thru like a champ.

One last pic, rofl. This is my sister and my cousin.....ok so after 69 years my sister doesn't know the difference between an oak tree sapling and poison ivy! I hope this helped ward off any alergic reaction she might have. She was pulling weeds out of a clump of iris, when I told her THAT was poison ivy! Did I say she is not a gardener or an outdoor person.....rofl. I am sure we are related, but every once in a while I gotta wonder...;)
Wow, that is really sweet of you guys to care for the long lost cemeteries! Bless you all!
Sure hope she is not allergic to that stuff! I would not know what it looks like either. I don't think we have any here. If we do, I have not had a rash yet!!!
That is sooo cool to know your ancestory.. I only know that I am related to Sam Houston but the only person who really knew the information was my Great Grandmother and she is gone.. she was Jenny Houston...I think he was an uncle or something... I have no idea how to find information. Our family cemetary in Tennessee is maintained by the state! LOL It is a historical site. Kinda cool. The last person buried there is my grandfater. When the state took it over a stipulation was made that any family members alive at the time will have the option of being buried there if they choose. My Uncle wants to be buried there. Since I am single.. I have considered it.. at least I would be with "family" LOL
happ, I am so glad your family gets to gether, will pray for you cousin, and I am glad u have fun with your sister. Found poison Ivy at charlies place, going to go kill it with poison this weekend, can't have that stuff in my beach area this summer..
Maya is covered in buds I noticed this am.. so happy bout that.. here she is..
Dang yours are so far ahead of mine Debra, happy for you, wish I had buds! Oh well.
Still have iris blooming, but we are going to hit 90+ this week. I have lilies getting ready to bloom in the pond and the lilies in the ground are just starting to break color...!
What few imhave in pots are about 3 foot tall, no "y's" yet. And the few I have in the ground are lucky to have maybe 3 leaves on them. Someday I will figure it out!
All my leaves were ripped off from the wind, so we will have to start over. My poor banana tree got ripped to shreds. I had just moved them out and put them behind the garden room thinking they would be protected jon Sunday but on Monday I wasn't expecting 40 mile an hour wind gusts!
Link Kay, brugs are heavy feeders, your not starving your babies are ya? Course from what I have read some do better in the heat than others also.
Nope, they get fed weekly, and once they start blooming, I feed them twice a week. It just got really hot here, too early in the season.
I am way far away from being a brug expert, I just remember seeing some comments like some being better in hot or cooler climates than others in the brug forum before we were expelled....rofl.
Well we look like we are getting ready for another smashing storm.....goodness gracious
I have heard that too, but since most of mine are NOID's, I have no clue what I have.
Be careful in the storm please?
Mine are prolly ahead because i kept them going all winter, Linda, I talked to Bonnie today and told her I had buds, and hers aren't even budded yet. Only four of my brugs have buds, with Kaitlyn having one to open in the next day or so, her other buds so small yet. I highley reccomend Kaitlyn, she is just an outstanding performer. Peach Versi out front has teeny buds I found today. I have never seen her bloom, got her from Bonnie.
Yardsale Yellow, Georgia Peach, and a few others recieved as cuttings are still just sticks, and not looking too good.Lost NOL, NN, and a few others thru winter.
I miss my dog..He was my buddy out back.. now, no one is with me out there, and it isn't as fun anymore..
*sigh*
Sending you ((((((((HUGS))))))) this morning! We will be putting down our siberian husky probably this summer and it is not an easy thing to do.
Tell Bonnie Hi, and I surely miss her and her anticks.... ;)
I imagine you are missing your buddy in the back yard. They are such company. DH doesn't notice anything I plant but the doggies sure do, once to smell, and at least once to pee on it (guess I can say that)...rofl.
Won't get to play in the back yard tonight....dag nab it......that is my stress reliever, good thing it is Friday tomorrow.... ;)
I am gonna go by a place we have that sells a million kinds of hostas.
I need to take a pic of all my little brugs setting neatly against the house before I move them out! They are just a couple feet tall, with a few that are just a stick with a few leaves. I thought they were dead but planted them because they didn't 'feel' dead. I have one NOID pink that has a Y, the rest aren't there yet but seem to be doing well and have aclamented themselves to the outside well.
(((Hugs Debra and LK))) My Pug was a rescue about 4 years old according to our Vet when I found him. That fellow lived a good life while he was in our care for the next 10 years. Sadly he went blind and had to wear a diaper the last two years of his life. He died in his sleep February 2010 and Hubby buried him at the edge of our yard. I've started a Memorial Garden for him with Red flowers since he always wore a red harness. He was such a sweetheart and followed me everywhere, even after he went blind. I guess he could still smell me.
Look at one of the Humpty Dumpty Dahlias you recently gave me, LK. It's a wee little plant only 6" tall and still has several more buds. I can't believe I have a Dahlia blooming this early.
Edited to say, Good job on your Brugs, Patti. I don't think I lost but two or three that you sent me, Faye.

Wow, that is a pretty color! Hard to believe it is blooming already!
Kaitlyn has bloomed. Finally a bloom on the patio..
Thanks, everyone for the support. Even Joe says he misses Duke. It is so hard to not remember him all the time. Joe set his doggie igloo house out at the curb the other night, and a young couple came by with two dogs they were walking and asked if they could have it. He said sure! I am glad it is going to be used, Duke never stayed in it, he stayed inside here with me.
Happ, I will be in the gardens all weekend and I can't wait. Linda, how are your morning glorys doing?
Oh, Bonnie is selling plants from her home, it is callled Dirty Fingers Plant Shop or something like that.
here is Kaitlyns first bloom outside this year. She is now my new pet.
Debra, that was sweet of you guys to give the doghouse away. I am sure the couple was thrilled because those aren't cheap.
What a beauty of a bloom! So pretty.
Does Bonnie have a website she is selling from or literally from her house? I would trust her more than anyone.
Crit you will just love the smell and the blooms, they become very addictive! ;) Mine are out but all the leaves are in the next county from the wind. I still have 2 giants to bring out and 2 big ee's. Winds are suppose to be calmer this weekend.
Fruity we had a blind dog for years and unless you knew he was blind you couldn't tell. He knew where all the furniture was and could charge thru the house and could follow you anywhere like you said by scent. Now if you got up wind from him that was a different story, you could see him listen so hard and head straight for you by sound.
Pretty dahlias. I love their blooms, wish we didn't have to dig them up......
Gonna be in the 90's but I got a lot of planting to do anyway.
Debra, that bloom is beautiful!
It was so nice of you to give that couple Duke's igloo. Sounds like it will go to good use.
Debra, I have just planted more seeds, as the first ones are really tiny, and spindly. I don't think they liked to be transplanted, so this time, I just placed the seeds in the planters, as it has been nice and warm out, I don't think I have to worry about any frost!
This one bloomed yesterday, but I can't see how the tiny plant could hold it up! It was windy, and I could not get a shot of it opened all the way.
