I got to see Faye in person. Still have a nice warm fuzzy from seeing everyone at the RU. Gotta scoot for the day. Heading off to PA again to help my Mom. Right now I can't see straight up trying to maintain 2 households.
She's about to...61... Spring has sprung!!
Crit it isn't nice to tease us with the picture of that beautiful pool and it is 95 here...rofl!
DJ, you can bore me all you want with those pics. Beautiful gardens, what is the blue plant blooming in 8611100? I can remember when....roflmbo....you could afford to hire a kid to mow, not around my place anymore, they want more per hour than I make... ;)
OMG Faye, that is beautiful! I have one or several of those but have never seen one bloom except on the internet, well take that back I had one bloom and it had fallen down thru the slats of the plant shelf and I never even saw it, just the spent bloom.
Susie, I have several yellow iris, will have to see if your pic matches any of my pics. Later tonight I will post a pic of a rusty colored iris that might be the one you were talking about. It will be late cause I am going to see my cousin in the hospital, she is doing soooo good.
that Blue plant is a False Indigo i believe they call it.
i need to know what plant this is
this is about 2-3ft tall with bluish little stars the roots are like bamboo hard to cut into anyone else have this plant ??? was going to send to my red white & blue partner but i forgot it .
well i need to go out & put my lilies in the barn they just said possible hail this afternoon back later .
susie
I don't know what it is Susie. I have seen false indigo before in the seed catalogs, that sure is pretty.
LOL,OMG, I would never have seen myself in that mirror Crit if you hadn't mentioned it. So glad it's not a clear view.
Thank you LK, the Cacti is a Epiphyllum
Susie, how on earth did you ever take care of so many gardens? I don't have nearly as many and I have to stay at it just to keep the plants watered....as of now, weeds & grass are growing everywhere.
Nita, meeting you was a highlight of the RU. Had wanted to meet you for a long time, and looking forward to seeing you again anytime.
Susie, could it be a Butterfly Bush?
not a BFB For it grows like the centaurea Mountain Bluet but mine is a very lt blue
like this but mine dose not selfseed but is clumping as i said it is very hard to cut into the roots as bad as wild grass :(
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/35713/
kinda looks like laurentia, only a wild variety... I love it, save me some roots? LOL
Faye, I wish mine ( eps's) would bloom...
Faye that piece of epi that you gave me with the bloom is starting to open I think. I can't believe it. Never thought to see one ever bloom. Thank you so much. Also got my new bottle tree yesterday and I will put your blue bottles on there today and take a picture. The first tree I got was from the Kinsman Company. Expensive as heck and it was a piece of junk. I sent it back and the same day found one made in the USA on e Bay and I am so glad I did! Excellent workmanship and built for the ages. Can't wait to get some more bottles to use on it.
Patti your pool is perfect. I want one just like that when I retire.
DEB Try to remind me this fall & I WILL GET MY BROTHER TO DIG OR CHOP some out my shift key sticks sorry .
well going to be a very hot muggy day so i have to get out side early to pick up the grass i cut last night
so you all have a great day
susie
Nita I do hope it will bloom for you. I have a Yellow one that I'm anxious to see bloom.
So glad you got your Bottle Tree. I find this a little hard to believe, but I have ordered a Bottle Tree!
It should be here maybe net week.
Nita did you find a place for your Frogs?
1st of the pickings Taken last night just put in the new bed last spring & it is looking good Out there :) Not sure i will get enough for the freezer but I know we will eat as long as we can on them :)
well my air conditioner just went out on me during the night so off to wal mart soon to get a new one they say 90 today so i need it .
you all have a great day
cute! 102 for three days in a row now..
Geez Debra. It's too early to be that hot. Hang in there. When are going to AR to be with your sis?
Debra, you have our temps! Were the same here, 102, 104 all week!!!
Love those froggies Neener!
Susie, those strawberries look yummy!
Well my air conditioner is in Oh thank lordy we are only going to get to the 90's today DON"T THINK I COULD HANDLY the 100's just went out & filled the little pond for daisy to stand in she likes to cool her feet :)
usually our strawberries do not come on till after June 12 th they are early this year & that is ok with daddy :)
well i have one more room to mop so you all have a cool day .
susie
Glad you got your AC Susie! Stay cool!
Boy Debra you are not far away. We are in the 90's but talking about 80's the next few days.
The ground is cracking it is so dry and the winds have been really strong, which allows us to stay outside, but sure dries out everything.
Susie those look strawberries look great. I get a ton of small strawberries, DH doesnt eat them so I fix them and eat them allll myself...rofl. Had strawberries and bananas for breakfast outside in the peace and quiet.....before it warmed up so much.
I just about have the east bed dug up and a giant mess, now what to put back in it.......
This is my little gardening buddy, Polly. Wherever I am, she is, no matter HOW HOT. If I leave her in the house and go out back, she comes out her doggy doors. If I leave her in when I go out front, she sets at the door or window and looks at me. She's my little fat dog.....pound puppy. See how she sets, isn't she funny? Not like a normal dog.
Polly is so cute!
I got the northeast bed all cleaned and mulched, tomorrow moving on to the east east side, which won't be much, just remove some weeds and put down mulch, then the east south side...1 day down 4 to go. That is one day for each direction...rofl. I won't make it.
The big old lab laid in the middle of one of my red hot pokers and the daylily next to it. Just smashed them to smitherins.....He probably weighs 90 lbs....
rvnsbrk, love the frogs that is so fun.....gardens should be happy places.
Here are some pics of the east north garden... ;) I should of taken a before picture, I got 3 mulch bags full of weeds! How bad is that.....Not much blooming yet, the spuria iris have just finished, the red hot poker (which is peach) is the only thing blooming in that bed right now.
That is a lot of work! Nice job!
Thank you Linda Kay, course if I hadn't let it go to heck, it wouldn't of been so much work...rofl. I started at 6am finished at 7pm...I did come in at lunch for a little and then around 2 cause it got so hot.
One last pic, one thing about taking pics you can "look" at your garden in a new light. I have too much stuff in that one corner, bird bath, wooden vine thing, and the whrilly thing that has a planter below it. Well only thing that can be moved is the whilly thing and the planter....wonder where I will put it. starting a new hosta bed on this side of the bird bath. There is a big old maple tree there and it is shading that area really early now.
No grass or weeds grow under the maple tree in front of the glider so mulch and a concrete leaf I made sit there. My problem there are the dogs scratching which is a big problem cause they can send mulch flying.
I'd love to sit on your glider and take in the view, happ. Wowser, that was a lot of weeding in the heat. What are you talking about having too much garden art? Can you really have enough? The next thing I want is a bottle tree. We've been cleaning out our utility building and over the week-end, I found an old tri sprinkler that belonged to my Dad and set it in my side garden as "a touch of garden art"...lol And a Rabbit Gum he made eons ago I put on our back porch along with a wooden tool caddy he made that has a carved out slot for a hammer. Last year between the deer and rabbits, they just about mowed down my Hostas, and the deer did a number on the D/L's...some I'm just now able to see bloom.
The combo yellow & red hot pokers a neighbor gave me two years ago that bloomed the first time this year are done, now they just sorta look like forlorn stalks.
I saw the weather map this morning, Susie, and it looks like you're cooking as much as we are. What a surprise this morning when I saw D/L Spacecoast Extreme Fashion you shared with me last year blooming.
love your little Polly Pound Pup, Susie. You are so lucky!
Happ, your gardens are beautiful and I have never grown those red hot pokers to success. good job!
Kaitlyn dropped all her buds at the same time today, prolly when it reached 102 AGAIN... Maya has a few about too, but if we have another day tommorrow like the few we have had, she will drop those too. *sigh* weird spring/summer. Sis is not having her surgery until august after these new chemos are done. they kick her butt, she is strong , tho.
Tell your sis to hang in there, it will all be over soon! Sorry about your buds dropping, they don't like the heat at all!
What's a rabbit gum?
really pretty happ!!! And that bright yellow car! What kind of mulch did you use? We got a bunch of cedar mulch last fall when it was on sale.
WOW everyone is so busy. I am up early to get started with the yard of mulch I have in the truck. Figured if I could get that done before it hits 100 I will call it a day. Already 81. Summer in Virginia will suck the life out of a prune.
Busy beaver, early bird (what other 'animal' reference can I make? lol), good luck in getting that all done. I worked outside potting plants by the light from my sun room until 10 last night. Was quite pleasant with a nice breeze blowing.
Fruity, I love that daylily that is beautiful. I have buds forming on the daylilies but nothing open yet.
Debra I think the key to red hot poker is not to let them get too wet. I have 3 different types of reds, a red, the peachy color, and yellow. Course right now nothing is getting to wet.
I am using plain old cedar mulch in the bag, when it was on sale last year I piled a ton of it up against the fence row. Only mulch I have bought this year is the black when it went on sale.
Well back out to start on the gardens. Not too terrible sore this morning.... ;)
GM Cute Pound PUPPY , yes it was smoking hot here yesterday for us anyway we are not used to that kind of heat . all the storms are south of us so i had to go out & Water the potted plants this morning I USually do it in the evenings but figure it was going to rain during the nite & didn't want to drown them but all south of us :(
I WANT RAIN so I can get my weeds out , right now they snap off like beans . & I like to get to the root of them >
anyone have any extra rhododendron's or if you find any good sales of them PLEASE Let me in on them :)
Well looks as if the guy cannot meet my asking price of our place so I'm going to just stay put :) & bring on the plants :) Have to go get more from my friends place but we want to wait now till blooms are done on some of them .
well guess i will go back out & check the bigger gardens & see what is in bloom :) back soon .
susie
Wow, love all your flower beds! They are so big and so pretty! Sure wish I had the decent dirt to make one! All we have here is rock hard caliche clay, and nothing grows in it! Well, lots of cactus and mesquite trees!
Stay warm everyone, and please drink plenty of fluids so you don't get sick!
Susie didn't know you were looking to sell.
Well I made it. Got the mulch done and few other things before I melted. Now I'm clean and showered and going to stay in and make some cards the rest of the day.
That is a beautiful spot Crit. Lots of great shade.
Well winds out of the north! Temps dropped, and then thunder.....been waiting no rain, I wanna go back outside but don't want to be a crispy critter from lightening. Did you guys hear about the police officer from Riverside MO went down to Joplin to help and was struck by lightening. He passed away....feel so bad for his family. Riverside is a suburb of Kanas City. So sad.
Oh No, that is sad news! Sorry to hear that!
