Best/Worse/What did I learn today-chat with friends!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Both Harold and Juliette said they'd be up in a few weeks..must go look for photo's of our parties..had a ball when he'd come up and party..omg remember he was at the house, Roger took him water skiing, Harold did the splits, was playing at the community center for me and he was in sooo much pain..

Only nice thing about funerals is seeing old friends and remember the good old days

Johnny Burke didn't make it..he's not been feeling the best either..

Now that first song is what Johnny would have sang..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Can't you see I'm homesick for the good old days AND for hubbies who have gone on before us..for families missing daddy's..wipe that tear..

better lift myself up before it's time to head out on a fun trip..

give me a shake won't you?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty glad the funeral was nice, and you gave Ann all of our hugs.

Shirley how are you doing sweetie????

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Shakin' you up Betty. Did you feel it??? Now get that smile back on and think HAPPY for some don't have memories like that...Have a great time.....

Lexington Park, MD

Shakin' you up from Maryland Betty. Barb is right put your travel shoes on and go have some fun.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yeah! Betty I sent you an email, did you get it?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sent you one back Christine...

Thanks girls, it's just we had so many fun get togethers on the lake .. wouldn't you love things to last forever...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Ah, might help if I opened that back up huh! LOL!!!

I love reminiscing, it relaxes me and makes me humble.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

How far is it to Cleveland?

Victoria Harbour, ON

About 6hrs...not sure because if it's our long weekend and maybe a lot will take tomorrow off then border wait might be long..doesn't matter..get as far as we can..Suzanne hasn't even had lunch yet!

Going back in time..

Many of you may know I'm a great step dancer..must be my french upbringing, have my earphones on and french music..tapping my feet..working up adrenaline..lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

thinking of the dead this afternoon...dad would play guitar and he'd have me and Sharon sit near his side and sing..was off key but he loved it..Uncle Oliver, who's birthday was yesterday, and grandma's who was today would all join in..Uncle Oliver carved a 'bonhomme de bois' little man made of wood..he won step dancing competitions all over Ontario and the Tommy Hunter show would feature him and his puppet dancing..3 other uncles would bring out the spoons (which I still have) for playing, mouth organ, fiddle and accordian...

long weekends were so much fun

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yikes, so you may not get to Cleveland until 6am! I'd definitely play it by ear, That's a long drive, then a good chance of a long wait at the border, seems like they'd do something about the waits at the border crossings, I remember wanting to go into Baja Mexico but never would because of the long waits at the Mexican border, and what a mess that always was!

Oh Betty, have so enjoyed reading....so very very sad about dear Ann. Glad she has such a great support system. Enjoyed the vido also

I must have not typed right. NOT out of pain meds at all. Just the "pain block" that they did before surgery so that it would feel painfree for 24 to 36 hours after surgery. That part was meant to wear off. I still have the oral meds to take.

My arm is very sore, was somewhat raw from the glue under the bandage. I have a cream, and some paper tape bandages. Too soon to take out the stitches....go back Monday evening for that.

Not to do much of anything with that arm for two weeks....can't even use it to brush teeth or hair!!! Had to go get an electric hand-held for me to sue with left hand. lol

DH is goign back to work tomorrow...Shannon is home in the morning...and goes to work the time Shane gets home from school, so I am covered with help.

Be back in a bit.....

Debbie

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Debbie, we can just call you our one armed bandit, till you heal up! LOL! Just kidding, we have to have someone to pick on till Betty gets back from her trip!
Hope the pain meds keep your pain under control!

Lyndonville, NY

Thats Ok, feel free to pick! lol Mandatory napping with the vicodin is a plus.

I have a couple books on my Nook I want to read, so I am ready for this!

One thing that is so amazing to me, I have not slept in I bet 4 to 6 months...because of the pain in my back/shoulder. Feels like I am laying on a tennis ball. Well, since the surgery....that feeling is GONE! I can lean back in a chair and everything. SO, that is one major plus.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yeah One Arm Bandit Debbie!! That's great news!! I don't know if I can read a book that's not in a book, if you know what I mean, I haven't graduated to that yet, mainly because of price and I'm not reading anything lately.

Lyndonville, NY

Crissy, if this had not been a gift....there is no way I would have it. I have no money in the budget at all....and the books I get, are all free. Barnes and Noble has a "free ebook" section and on Fridays you get a "newer" book that is free. If it wasn't for that...not a chance.

I admit 100%, I miss the feel of the book in my hands and the smell of the pages....BUT with my very bad eyesight, I can change the font and see much better. AND for our anniversary, DH gave me a "nook cover" which really makes it feel like I am holding a book.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Arrived at hotel about 1 hr ago..approximately 1/2 hour south of Cleveland sooo right on target! Got a lot of jazzing about my forehead, really is swollen and infected ..holding hot compresses and dropped into pharmacy for medication..hoping it will work overnight.

I have a Sony reader, Jeff downloaded 2,000 books, tolu me to comeback when I finished reading them!!

Bit tired, just wanted you to know, no rain, traffic was light and only 15 minutes at border

Nigh night

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

Love the "LOL" story Betty! I've read all.. I THINK I'm camping out on an internet signal that not supposed to be on... so I'm going to hurry up and not click on the links until I get back home.... DEB so glad to see you on here... and Crissy, LK, Laura and all.... I usually have my note pad and make notes... but BUT...

Right now... you are all here with me on the work laptop. We are looking at the 3/4 yellow Moon... shining over the Gulf of Mexico. The crashing waves are both loud yet so relaxing.... I've yet to put my toes in the sand or ocean ... that's for tomorrow.... but it's just gorgeous !
We left late (9:30am) ... never would have thought the kids following us would cause delays but I was careful to take in stride because THEY were SO excited to be on this trip "on their own" that it was infectious! Saw in the rearview mirror... DS's smile was HUGE as they went through the Mobile Alabama tunnel... (family tradition has been to make sure radio was on so we could hear it go 'off' at the bottom of the tunnel). So funny making family history when not together as a family. "Kids first time on their own". We arrived and got to condo by 3p... rested/dressed and met the local and other visiting family at restaurant 5p. Graduation at 7:30p. It was wonderful. DS's driving was excellent. only mistake he made was trying to stay in passing lane at first... but we corrected that (via text to DSD2) and Hubs said it was a good thing we were able to have this trip to watch him and give feedback.... good learning experience for all 3....

I'll check back in a bit... It's just been a fabulous trip so far... and just started... Can't wait for Betty's trip report... and I apologize that I'm not commenting on all... however I will... I just usually make notes and can't do that tonight.....

(Sending all a HUGE relaxing deep breath of Fresh Ocean Air !)

Oh Betty ! We crossed.... Sounds like your adventure is off to a wonderful Start as well ! ((HUGS)))

Baton Rouge, LA

((HUGS)) Synda - now we cross posted as well ! I'm slow on this laptop... plus taking a long time to think... exhausted!

Send some of that rain to Baton Rouge ! We need some there... although I should not THINK of home huh? when on vacation? Wow maybe I am a "real" gardener by now! Hard to believe that this day has been so wonderful with so many emotions running. The High School had SO many honor students however the speech by the last one was SO incredible... I would pay to get a copy of it to post on here for all of you my friends...

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

((((Betty)))))) glad you "enjoyed" the funeral - hope Ann's doing ok - prayers continue for her. Glad you're having fun on your trip.

(((((Bev))))))) Sorry to hear Scotty 's not doing well.

Bob's been working on scraping all the wax off the church basement hall - large room to be hand-scraping.

Glenview, IL

Hi..

Betty! Mary! So glad you both arrived to destinations...

Waiving Hello to everyone sending smiles and arm wraps too.
Tons, left to do

Debbie, gentle hugs girl...you better be good. Hand on hips, I mean it...

Heavey sigh, got run for a min...

Going to say good night, I am wiped out!!

Verona, ON

Mary I am so glad your vacation started off on such a positive note.Put your tootsies in the water an extra time just for me please. Better make that 2 more times as I know Debbie loves to walk in the water like I do. Excellent lessons to be learned by all travelling with the kids in a separate car. Bet the tension in the car you are tavelling in with DH is a heck of alot less than if the kids were right there with you.
Betty glad to read you made your goal tonight. Did you run into any T and L on the way? We have had wicked storms here. Spent most of the evening without phone, internet and satellite dish due to the storms. If you can try baking soda inside a cool, wet washcloth that should help with the bite. Betcha one of those pesky black flies got ya! Know you will have a blast on this trip, anxious to read your next installment.
~~~~~ to everyone we have T and L again so I am going to shut down.
Dianne
Edited for many typo errors
Lk how are your fingers doing.
Crissy I will post a pick of the gourd when done. This is my first time so we will see.
Coffee is on .
Anyone want to come and bake cupcakes for a party tomorrow?
Verona, ON
Love to - what kind are we making?
Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)
OOO I haven't had cupcakes in years! What kind do we got?
Betty so glad the line at the border wasn't long, 15 minutes is wonderful! I'd be putting a cold cloth on that infection, from what I've learned in the past heat will spread an infection. Can't wait to see you and meet the girls!!
Mary I can hear the waves all the way up here!! So glad you're having a great time!!
Well Dave just went somewhere, probably to mow his dad's lawn before it rains this afternoon, so here I sit, took the day off to do something on his birthday and he's out mowing his dad's lawn. LOL!! Guess I'll do him a favor and clean the shower. BLAH!
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
Crissy be sure to give Dave Happy B'day wishes from the northeast!!!! I'd play instead of washing a shower!! Isn't there some little thing you can do for Dave instead of that????
Glenview, IL
Good Morning!!
Happy Birthday Dave!!!
Today is the Day!! Finally... have a long morning ahead of us.
Ok Dress is now in our possession, lol, wish i would have saved my 30 bucks for alterations...I just did about a 5" hidden seam, lol forgot what thats called in sewing! Anyway it took me all of 5 minutes, Dress needed a 2" and shorten straps, probably another 10 mins...We paid 30 for an hour of alterations, shaking head here. Well live & learn eh.
So Tuesday was the fitting...Dress has an open back, So we decided Sabrina should have a jacket of some sort. Said we could look at Penny & Sears OR go to Joanns and I'ld make her something...Me and my Big Mouth!! ROFLOL, well I felt as thought I was on project Runway. But as of 10:00 P.M. Last night, Our jacket! This Morning did the hide-a-seam and added buttons...This jacket is not for closure, but purely to keep her warm...You'll see later, it really is just to add a splash of color too. Her dress is all black.
I got to say i am really happy with the way it came out. I haven't sewn with a pattern in years!! No time to make my own.
And I've never done a lining, hahaha...Never again either!
So, here is the start Tues, night!
Enjoy the day everyone.
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
Bless you Judy - these are the things your children will remember years from now. So many times we do for them and never really know what it meant to them and years later you will hear a comment from one of them about "Do you remember when you made me ----? I loved what you did!!" THEN it all is worth it......
Lexington Park, MD
We are making chocolate cupcakes with cream filling and white icing. Then lemon cupcakes with lemon icing. Oh by the way doing it from scratch. Which I have never done before. Sooooo we will see. It is for a B-day party tomorrow for Step-daughters 1&2.
I sprayed poly on the gourd and waiting for it to dry.
Anyone ever stain a gourd before????
Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)
Want to see pictures of your gourds !!!
And my butt definitely don't need any ,but i want one each of the cupcakes ,sounds delicious ~~~~~~ Sending Happy Birthday Wishes to both of your Step-Daughters !!!
