I found you and am in 7th heaven with all the seeds, and plants you have sent. Thanks to all of you, made this ol' woman very happy, and content if they will just start for me.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Lee, now what is this all about? The one time Dave never told anyone where he was going, you find him. Normally, we have to go looking for you.

Good morning everyone.

Miles City, MT(Zone 3b)

JB said she was having steak and lobster, Dave said yumm and he'd be right over, so I thought we would connect up and join her. Sure sounded good at the time :) Of course, Kim was invited also.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all, except Dave and RJ. :)
Yesterday was just beautiful. today not so much.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

What the hell is this hide and seek time? I am too old to have to hunt this group. Yet I thought I had better because I do not want to miss anything.

My son, DIL and wonderful one and only Grandson arrived about 10:00 A.M. and we went to the corner Diner which is really a nice place and very close, for breakfast. I was going to make creamed chipped beef and eggs and potatoes but yesterday I told my daughter I just was not up to it. Thank God I did not because I was so off balance with this sinus and crap in my head I barely got my morning chores completed without falling into something.
We had a nice breakfast, but son did not eat. He sat there and drank water. He is so much like his father. Eating at the diner was beneath him but the rest of us had a wonderful time and the PITA paid for it. LOL Oh God I love that kid, but he is so much like his miserable, father I could smack him. We then came back to the house and sat on the deck and I had a great visit with my Grandson and his Mom. My son sat at the other end of the deck and said nothing. . I think he was pouting because Mom did not cook.
Tough S***. When they left I got a hug from all and I Love you, and then they drove off and I cried.
So, here I am, Barney and I are going to work on horseshoes, Lynn and Rob are at the Horse Park signing in the horses from Belgium that were out of quarantine today and arrived at noon.
They will be home to get the house ready for the next guests at 4:30 for Lobster and Steak. It is my son's wishes to come in the morning so he can get back to his place and "go back to work". So, they all miss the good stuff. Oh well. I keep hoping I will live long enough to see him get more like me. That would be nice.
I wanted to send you all a little something from me for Mother's Day, so here they are, my first peonies. Hope you all have a wonderful day. God Bless.

JB: I really love those peonies. they are Da Bomb as the youngens say it or was that last generation. God I sound so OLD.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

well obviously my head was not on straight when I did this.

Kim went for a nuclear test on her para - thyroid. it seems she has them going hay wire and they need to remove some or all of them. I am obviously concerned because this can turn to cancer easily. I have been afraid something would happen like this or worse. Of course I am trying to put on a brave face and be up beat. its turning tough to do and quite frankly It scares the H E double chop sticks out of me.

anyhoo its time for bed and I will be back tomorrow.
Dave

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

OOow that aguga sounds nice.

Happy Mom's Day MOMMAS

Had a great day with my kids and grand kids at Chucky Cheese for 4 hours. First time I saw my son, since Christmas.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Had a great day. Went to church and the roof did not cave in on me. Then had dinner at our daughter's. The one that lives in Las Vegas.

No Jnette, Brian's sister did not come. She lives in Vancouver, Washington.

The wind is whipping Las Vegas silly. Tree leaves everywhere. Two roses are stripped of petals. Two other are semi-protected. It will just give me something to do. Suppose to rain tomorrow but i doubt it.

Utah is worrying about flooding because some places have had 750% increase in snow level. If it gets warm to fast, it will come roaring down the mountains. They expect to have the ski slopes open until July 4th in Utah, Colorado and Northern Nevada.

So Lee and JB, you are not going crazy. This winter has been a record breaker Only other time they had more snow was in 1950.

Dave, I will add Kim to my prayers. All of you be happy, with less pain and more energy tomorrow. Love Sharon.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

I'm sorry JB that your son is a horse's ass. Sorry, but it does sound like it. The problem with people like him is that they let go at the grave of their loved ones. Two of my sisters who hadn't spoken for years and made my mother's life miserable, got together at her funeral. Now how do you like those a--h-----? And now they are the bain of the rest of us. Together.

Gosh your peonies are lovely. Mine are just now coming out of the ground. We are that far behind you. Your breakfast sounds wonderful. Glad you didn't cook. Also the lobster and steak dinner.

Dave, my motto: Don't worry until you know you have something to worry about.

I live by it. Otherwise you will get old and gray before your time. Kim is going to be just fine. (BTW, my hair is almost as dark as it was when I was a teenager. With no help from a bottle.)

Sharon, did Todd and family drive all the way down there for your mom's day? That is a long way for one day. See, I always figure the special days don't mean as much as how you are treated the rest of the time. So, birthdays, Christmas, Mother's day etc. don't mean that much to me. They are just days like any other. I want the whole enchilada. LOL

Have a good one tomorrow everybody.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

No Todd and his family stayed where they belong, in Spokane. I told all of them no presents. I am de-cluttering and I do not need anymore clutter. They all listened. I said, put the money in your children college fund.

Yes, I want them to say great things to me now, not when I am dead.

As far as Brian, we are re-doing two bathrooms. He has two bathrooms. They were a disaster, and old. The redo will be easier for him to take care of, to get in and out of and I had safety bars put in both. They are also replacing the front door. And he was here all day and did not say Happy Mother Day. I am not his mother but he could have said, Happy Wicked Step-mother.

And life goes on.

All the cleaning I did in my front landscape on Saturday, after planting, is covered with leaves from the trees. Going to get cold so insulation. I told you I will never again complain about the weather. Love Sharon.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Morning, thank God that is over and all is back to normal. I hate holidays. Seems someone always screws them up. Including me. LOL

Here is the first picture of the Peony Tree. We have two one white and I am not sure what color the second is. I do not think they are as full and pretty as the regular.

Thumbnail by JBerger
Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

And here is the first white Iris. I love Iris. Wish I had more of a variety of colors. I am thinking of buying some from Brecks. They are having a sale.

Thumbnail by JBerger
Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

I love irises too JB, but wish they would bloom longer. They are so gorgeous when they bloom and so ugly the rest of the time. They should be planted with something that dies down and then comes up after they are done blooming so they cover up the spikes of the iris. Oh well, can't have it all.

I had a peony tree JB but it froze the first winter. I had it in a container on the deck.

Well, gotta go take a shower. Have to head to Spokane for a dr. appt. this morning. ttyl,

Pawleys Island, SC

Hi Everyone,
Hope you all had great Mother's days. Life is beginning to calm down here. I haven't been in the yard to check the seedlings in a few days, so I can only pray they aren't fried. It hasn't been that hot, but our rainfall has been minimal. I have loquats that are almost ripe. I cannot wait. I had a beautiful tree once before and it died for no reason that i could find. Then I bought one and put it in my driveway and this is the first year that it has had fruit. Normally the squirrels eat the fruit off just after it begins to set. This year tho they have left it alone.
I just got a call from the school to go pick up my son. Heaven knows I will be happy when school is out!
Talk to you later,
Linda

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Yes those are airline seats that arrived last week as a surprise from Brian. Oddly, he is not an airline person, and we are having words on where it's final location should be, I'm voting for the front porch (covered).
Jnette,
At this time, it seems that there will be no choice but to early retire. Supposedly a merger of equals, Continental is being devoured by United and most of our headquarters staff will not be offered jobs. I am trying to transfer to the airport and interview for other positions locally, but there are many road blocks that have reduced the chances dramatically. I am Management, putting me in a category in the transfer process near the bottom, sprinkle in United airport staff is Union, which equates to CO staff being Union soon further restricting the process.. I could go on, but suffice it to say it's a big hot mess!

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

I had a State Inspection today and I failed it. The Aimee have Aphid. Can anything else happen. I have not been carefully inspecting them the last few days because I felt crappy. Usually I inspect and spray if I see any signs of anything. Well, that has not been done and I got caught with my aphids down. Now I am quarantined until they come inspect again.

Nothing else in the greenhouse is infested except the gardenias. I am about to throw them out. I am sick of all the grief they cause me. I think I will put them outside and let them freeze. The inspector was so sweet. He said now not to worry, just spray a few times and call me and I am sure all will be o.k. Yeah.....I hear him, does he know how many plants I need to inspect, spray and wash the next few weeks .....well, if I do not feel any better than I did this past week, they can just close me down. I can not seem to shake these allergies and I certainly do not feel like playing with the stupid gardenias. He said I could still ship other plants but to inspect each and every one of them. Nothing else seems to be infested. One good thing, except, I will not do it unless I am sure each plant is perfect. Not this old girl. I do not send aphid out on any plants. He kept apologizing because he knew how upset I was and I told him I am the one who got the things, not him. He is a big black man with an accent. I am not sure where he came from but I can hardly understand him and he is so nice. Anyhow, that is my story today. See you all tomorrow. Check your plants gang, this year is a nasty one for all sorts of crap. Of course, you all are not inspected. LOL.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

May not be inspected, but they chew our plants just as much. I haven't checked the ants yet. LOL, if it isn't aphids, it's ants.

rj, I had no idea you were talking about "actual" seats. LOL, think you are right. On the front porch. Put an "exit" door next to them.

It is finally starting to warm up here. Might break 70 degrees today and all week the nights are suppose to be in the 40s!! I might even move some of my plants down to the hoophouse. That is if I can find somewhere to put them that they won't get ants in them.

'course those temps are in Spokane. Not us. But close.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

RJ, my heart hurts for you. You obviously have a good paying job. That makes it so much harder. The world is just crazy now. Weather, economy, disasters. Jesus is coming! Thats what I'm talking about.

I pray you will be picked up somehow.

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)

Last night it was 40°, and today it hailed. Three days ago it was 75°, and it is supposed to warm up again, and then rain on the weekend. What is going on with this weather? The one tomato, a 'Celebrity' for Steve, I planted out seems to be unharmed as it was a good size and well-hardened off. The others were put back in the basement as it is too warm in the house and I do not want to have to harden-off all those other seedlings again since they are doing so well. I will probably shift some into larger pots or jumbo-packs as necessary sometime this week. At least the wind has died down. It has been cold and windy since it started being cold again for about 3 days. And tomorrow I go to town, so I won't be doing much except for checking to make sure they are all watered. I even put some out in the uncovered area of the porch and they got hail but also some nice fresh rainwater. The hail was small and brief, kinda' like "popcorn snow" rather than the heavy marbles that occasionally come here after the snow season has gone. I remember years ago

Sharon ~ I finished yesterday, planting all that you sent. They looked OK, hopefully we will not have a freeze tonight. The bulbs that you sent...I wasn't sure about them, so since they had no labels, I planted the ones that looked like each other into the same large hole and then when they bloom, I will move them if necessary. When do they bloom, in fall?

Jeanette ~ Do you STILL have snow on the ground? It is hard to work outside when it is cold...BRRRR....

Dave ~ 'Burgundy Glow' is my favorite ajuga. Right now I have the regular bronze, and I can't bear to pull it all out when it is just coming into flower. I cannot, however, be responsible for what happens afterward, as it is a thug!

JB ~ I am SO sorry to hear about that inspection. They are always a surprise. I remember years ago, when I had a small retail nursery, I had my first inspection. The dogwoods were quarantined. I had no idea why as they just came in that same day. I know you have had a lot of trouble with those Aimees. Is it worth all the trouble? I guess we need to know that as we all go to a lot of trouble to keep certain things alive, especially plants we love. I know you love them. Good luck! My peonies are not yet blooming as they are still coming up. It looks as though the tree peony will be blooming this year, even though I transplanted it last fall. I wasn't sure that I took the whole root with it and it is one that deer have chomped down a couple of times, so it is like a flower (bud) on a stick, with no foliage except at the top. I also moved a regular peony as the tree man unearthed one, or maybe I did. It has leaves on it and looks fine, though it probably will not bloom this year as it is quite small. Probably part of a root. I had not idea they would take so easily.

Well, I am glad that you all had a nice Mother's Day. I got a nice card from my son and his wife and a phone call, since they live in Florida. I heard from 2 out of 3 granddaughters, so it was quiet, but nice. We had Steve's cousin (and his wife) over, to pick up a bookcase that he is giving to that "side of the family", and they were very nice.

Sleep well everyone. Good night.

Good morning everyone:
well i survived another day from heck. huge orders but they got out. I have 2 more to pack up today but might shift them to next week as I have nothing next week so I can put more attention on them then as I want to get them correct as they are trades and I want to be generous not just fill the box with this and that. I try to limit my trades to 2 a week so i don't get the ole i don't give a hoot.

yes ajuga can be a thug and I normally don't like it but its been good on sales so i am keeping them in the rotation and trying to sell them before they get to old and have a chance to jump out of the containers.

RJ: That really sucks. I hope you are able to find something soon. maybe the government will step in and say the merger can't happen because of monopoly status of the buyer. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.... you are in my prayers

Kim came home last night all upset. her brain has been taken over by pain and emotion and I hate to see her deal with this. it seems she get a 2 hour activity done in 4 to 6 hours. I have been trying to get her to stay home so she can get some rest.
and to top things off her insulin has become a traded comodity. well it seemed that way. we were getting several different prices for the same thing. I finally got to the bottom of it and it seems the flex pen she uses is a little over $200 a box which lasts half a month. she spent 2 hours trying to buy her pens and finally came home with out them. She is trying to get samples and has an order coming by mail from the insurance 's pharmacy. It really gets under my skin when she gets that way and there is not much I can do because of her thick headed ness. I understand it because I am the same way so I just try to ease her back down and fix the problem.
as soon as I am done with this I will be calling her to get her to come home. she needs to rest. they found 1 parathyroid that was causing all the problems so they are schedualing the surgery and its out patient. she did see the pain dr yesterday and he gave her the last films of her neck so the anasteasia guy doesn't cause more damage.

Looks like my helper will not be here today as her hubby came home with chest pains again. they wont fix the issue untill he has been on the new meds 6 months. that sucks. so he now has attacks and has to go home untill they feel he has been on the new meds long enough???? what happens if its a sevear attack and dies???? they say he wont but who know when it comes to the heart and attacks.

My old helper will be here later in the week and I am excited as she can do the lifting and moving I need done. as well as do more silver mound. her last batch as beautiful all like little copies of the last. here is a pic.
well time to get moving

Those are beautiful Dave. Now are those from URCs? They sure look healthy.

We have a beautiful day going. I got rid of most of the ants. Just one nest left of red and blacks. I put some boraxo and powdered sugar on those. So, we will see.

Does anyone know why my garlic would turn brown about 5 inches down from the tips of the new growth? I am thinking it is too hot in the hoophouse for them. Don't know. It is suppose to be in the 40s at night now all week. So, looks like we are on the way. I am thinking I am going to plant a couple of tomatoes out in the bales this week and see how they do.

I just hope it doesn't turn cold in June like it did last year.

So rj, does that mean you will be retiring, at what age? I took an early out at 55 but more because of my health than anything. Let me telll you, I sure took a huge cut in pay. Never will make that up. Hope you do better than I did.

Boy Dave, that really sounds rough for Kim. I guess you know what she is going thru. And, only you can try to help her. When does she have the surgery?

Gotta get back outside. We don't get this beautiful weather often this time of year.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Jeanette:
yes those were all taken from my silver mound patch. I ended up with 3 1/2 or 4 trays of 50 per. I am running out of room in the greenhouse under the mist. all my seedlings are up so I will be moving them out tomorrow to make room for more cuttings. I have a bunch of Dianthis Deltoides cherry red and dark red I need to split into more trays as they are all crowded and I want to streatch out the seed $$$. I ended up with 5 trays of ox-eye Daisies which I will most likely sell for somewhere between 30 - 50 cents per cell.
sorry jen I don't think I am allowed to send those to you in oregon. What all are not allowed to grow in oregon?

RJ. I too hope you are set up for retirement so you don't have to become a walmart greeter..... I know I thought about it but then I would have to be friendly all the time and some days I just don't wanna.

Kim has been home for a couple of hours now. I guess she started wondering where I was because she called my cell to see what I was doing. Cuttings cuttings and more cuttings.

Evelyn I should have a box headed to you next week. all the thyme are doing quite well. well its time for a shower and something to eat. we hit 90 yesterday and i am sure we were close to it when I came in all drenched with sweat. kim asked me why I was wet...lol of course I offered to hug her but she declined ...lol
dave's off to see the wizzard

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Want to pop in and say hello. This was a day of mixed chores. Laundry..........I hate laundry because you need to put it away. Why can we not have throw away clothing. I can not help but to think of my dirty friend, who never changed clothing. I would give her new jeans to wear and she would put them on, leave them on day and night until they were so dirty she actually threw them away. Brand new, never worn , washed only once and that was it for the rest of their lives. LOL I do miss her. Dirt and all. She would get so dirty around her farm that I would not let her ride in my truck. She had to take hers. LOL But dirt and all we had a blast. She was a real heller.

Nuff of the trip down memory lane. I washed off ever one of the bigger gardenias, tonight I will spray them again. Did some ordering and am going to take cuttings of cactus either today or tomorrow. Looks like tomorrow will be the day now that it is so late. Time for another walk, feed dog and have a glass of wine.

Dave your plants look really nice. Lucky you to have such nice plants to sell. I feel sure I will be back in business in a week or so. I just hope I do not miss any of those little vipers.

Hello Jen, long time no crap from you. Are you o.k.? I still have allergies and am so sleepy. I am sleeping like a rock at night. I must have really been tired that month I coughed every night. No wonder. Sharon and Lee are on board I see but where is everyone else. RJ getting ready to make a change in his life. God Bless you my child.
What a shocker when there is no salary coming in and it is just pension. I still can not get used to living a bit more frugal. I love to spend money. Whatever happens you will be just fine. Keep your eyes open and just be patient. All will work out for the best.

Where is Katie? Is she o.k.?
I did hear from Linda the other day. You o.k. Sweetie?
Evelyn, are you there?
Where ever you are, who every I missed, I love you all. Be well, Be Safe and enjoy the weather..........how about that Mississippi River. Wow that is scary. Off to find the wine bottle. Hugs JB

Miles City, MT(Zone 3b)

Well, we also had one day of really nice weather, now though, the rain has come and not quit!!! In Montana when it rains like this, everything is under flash flood warnings. About 30 miles out of town, they had to send buses to the school early because of the danger, and water was already over the road.

My front yard looks like we put a "natural swimming pool" in. Some of the seeds are up so we may have flowers yet. Thank you The ornamental grasses haven't come up as yet, I can only hope for the best, after Sharon went to the trouble of gathering them at the store, yep, our little Sharon, coping seed from plants not in her yard, HE HE HE!!! Can't you guys just see her doing that. I was so foturnate to be the receipent of countraband. Sorry Sharon, I just couldn't resist sharing this story, I think it is really above and beyond the relm of sharing. :) I have been laughing since you told me. I didn't mention the doggie poo bags :) TTYAL Lee

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Sounds like you left parts out of the story Lee. Best parts too.

I did get some things done today. It was so nice today. Amazing. We haven't had one in so long.

Bob had to take the little blind dog in and have her put down last week and boy the big dog is moping around. Acts like she lost her best friend. I guess animals do have feelings too. I think she even missed the cat when she disappeared a month or so ago. No wonder she is moping. Probably thinks she is next.

Yes Lee, they are worried about the river here too. We are a couple hundred feet away from it, but we are also about that much higher than it too. I would not like to be stuck up here tho. Good thing we have a couple boats.

JB, you be careful of those allergy meds with the wine. No wonder you are sleeping so good.

Dave remember the Japanese Maples I got early this year? One for myself and one for my daughter? They are just leafing out, and just gorgeous. The new leaves are deep, deep red. I think they are Red Dragons. They were 2 year grafts. My other one is green leafed. The one from last year.

Wow, I just lost a long post to you all. Sorry, I will have to write later...too tired now.

I don't know anyone im my area with peonies and I love them. Camelias either. Don't do well here, nor Begonias or Clematis. I am trying to grow Clematis to see, from seed. I got some free seeds from a man in Pakistan yesterday. That is so cool. It was from Cubits but oddly you have to wonder if you are on some watch list now. Isn't that sad though? I get it but still.

When you guys start to bloom it seems so odd when you barely stopped snowing.

How are things up there is Wyoming? Any signs of life yet?

mulege, Mexico

Hi - I'm back. Phone got cut off Friday and wasn't back on until yesterday but no internet. Spent about half an hour with a phone company man in Mexico City to get the internet back this morning.

I'm with JB on the coughing. Caught a cold while traveling and am having trouble shaking it.

One of my dogs peed on the bed FOUR times last night> One of the two little ones but I don't know which or she'd probably be dead.

No word from Sout's owner as to when he'll be back. We are doing OK.

Dana and Tom are leaving any day now.

I had my second epi bloom. It was gorgeous. Big and red with violet streaks and a white center. Name is "Miss America." Only lasted one day and then began to fade but what a day.

RJ, you are welcome to come here and be a beach bum (with bathing priviledges).

I hardly slept last night so more later.

hugs, katie

Lee ~ I thought you were on high ground there in Montana...not subject to flooding.

Sharon ~ Really? Were those doggie-poo bags? I thought they were doggie-bags that you take food home from a restaurant. And the grass seeds?? AHHH - sending grass...

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Lee wanted ornamental grasses. Not much grown her but the nurseries had large containers. No seed. So I deadheaded some seed heads. Hopefully they will take.

I have a large supply of dogie bags. So when I take the dogs for a walk, my dogs always find some other dogs present. It was unused and I had one in my pocket. Always have one in my pocket. We have two dogie bag stations in the greenbelt area. I have extra bags.

Dawn's box is in the mail. Got two done today. I am making progress.

My neighbor is giving me some of her Black Bamboo on Tuesday so I will have that to also send. She has a forest of Black Bamboo and she loves my landscape. She is Persian and she and her husband are both doctors. Mine is still back in the ground and not doing anything. My fault. Did not pay attention.

Evelyn, I sent you a d-mail or e-mail telling you everything that was in the box.

Large bulbs were pink rain lilies. Smaller white bulbs are whiter rain lilies. Very small white bulbs are Ipheion. Rain lilies bloom all summer and multiply like rabbits. Ipheion are blue and multiply like 40 rabbits. They might bloom for you because you are colder and they may think when it warms up it was a short summer and spring is here again.

Dave, my worker is going to help me get your package together so I can mail Monday. And we are going to clean out the garage again.

Jnette, your Red Canna will go out of here tomorrow.

JB, those Peonies are beautiful. I have some growing in a large pot and they are blooming. I will get a photo. Probably need to be divided. I would say the color is a Rose. They bloom for about two weeks, die back and I just wait for next year.

Katie, dogs do not usually pee where they sleep. Some thing is wrong.

Thanks, thanks so much Sharon.

My dog that started peeing where he slept had a kidney failure.

JB ~ Your peonies are quite lovely. I just have some white ones and one pink tree peony which was supposed to be white but by the time it bloomed I did not remember where I bought it, or if I did, I wasn't going to dig it up as it was a lovely pink one. Nothing is in bloom yet, though it should be soon at least for the tree peony.

Katie ~ Do you have any pictures of your epis in bloom? They are gorgeous flowers. My mom used to have a night-blooming cereus when I was young, and we all went out to watch it come open at night. Quite a show. Is your foot feeling any better? It must be hard trying to sleep with that brace on. I rarely sleep through the night, so I know how difficult it can be.

Sharon ~ I planted everything you sent. One of the bulbs is already trying to show up. The weather has warmed up a bit again, actually just about perfect. It is supposed to cool off tomorrow just a bit, then rain by Sunday, as it was first predicted, by Friday. they keep changing their tune...then it is supposed to rain Sunday, through next Thursday or so....hmmm. Maybe the weather report will change again....last time it was supposed to rain it hailed. I have no idea when the C - Bluestone co-op will be here, or Pacific Callas. It should be interesting to see me planting all of them, as I am sure I have ordered too many. I will probably put the surplus into the Peach of a Garden, as the colors will go in there. The rest will go into the "cottage garden".

Has anyone ever put any sort of plants in pots and then "plunged" them into the garden? I have been thinking of doing that with all of my tropical plants as I never seem to dig them up in time and then they sulk all spring and just start their growth in the summer. Many have not bloomed for quite some time now. The one canna is starting to show growth as we have had some nice warm days, so I pulled the mulch away. The same with the Eucomis. I will have to figure this one out, but I think I should do that with the callas as they are fairly small and would not be too crowded by the pots. If you have any experience with this method, please let me know, OK? Thanks!

Here is a group of white daffs from May 2nd...

Howdy:

Evelyn: I have done that a few times. I did put in a pot of ajuga in my corner and it took off and took over. I am planning to plant my mints in 3 gallon pots burried most of the way down with enough of a raised lip to keep them from getting loose in the beds.

Sharon: I apreciate you sending me th boxes. I am really looking forward to them. I have a lot of things I want to use as stock plants and they need a bigger home than the pots I have them in. It gets really tough to keep them watered in 3.5" pots as they out grow them so fast. Been doing a lot of transplanting plugs and dumping nonproducing pots. I am still giving the pampas grass a chance to come back. I have some serious doubts about it.
If your friend has any extra black bamboo to spare I would kill for a start off it. I think I lost mine from living in the garage over the winter. I think my cat used it as his litter box. I am running out of rocks to put into the posts to discourage the act.

I am planning to try some of my ginger in the garden this year. I have great news, my seeding of poppies took. I don't know which one I have but here is a pic as its starting to open. next pic will be of it late afternoon. Its 4 to 5 feet tall and loaded with buds. Its really a good looking flower.

My cat Lucky had to go to the vet yesterday. when he used the bath tub as a pee spot it was bloody. well he had a bladder infection so we got him 2 shots, some new food and a treat thats suposed to help him keep the infections at bay.

Managed to stick quite a few cuttings yesterday. Finished up the prowis castle artamesia 2 trays, did some Hi Ho Silver thyme 1.5 trays, chocholate mint 1/2 tray and a variegated mint.

i got in 3 new buddleija stock plants. Pink Delight, Griffen Blue (a mini) and Honey Comb. I started taking cuttings from the rooted cells as they seemed to need a trim anyway. Well not much else going on today.

Have a great day and here is my poppy

Evelyn, I have a rose I did that with because the soil was so sandy it wouldn't hold any decent soil. Put it in last year and it didn't do much. But now, I see it has about a foot of new growth on it. We'll see.

Also, I have a Golden Hops I did that way so it could not spread. But, you are talking about doing it so you can leave them in the ground? Not sure why you are wanting to do that. Most of my tropicals I use as container plants on the decks.

Yes, JB, the peonies are lovely. I only have the two deep red ones. And they are lovely, but need dividing. That is not one of my favorite things to do. I had a dbl white tree peony in a container but it froze even tho it was a zone 3 hardiness. But they just do not go down to that unless in the ground.

I wrapped my Japanese Dwarf Maple in insulation and it went thru the winter just fine. I wrapped the container in the insulation and put a pipe insulation on the trunk of the tree. Doubt if it needed that tho.

That is too bad about your black bamboo Sharon. I thought you had a lot and was hoping to get a start of it. But that's ok, 'cause it may not be hardy in our zone anyway.
