Last night it was 40°, and today it hailed. Three days ago it was 75°, and it is supposed to warm up again, and then rain on the weekend. What is going on with this weather? The one tomato, a 'Celebrity' for Steve, I planted out seems to be unharmed as it was a good size and well-hardened off. The others were put back in the basement as it is too warm in the house and I do not want to have to harden-off all those other seedlings again since they are doing so well. I will probably shift some into larger pots or jumbo-packs as necessary sometime this week. At least the wind has died down. It has been cold and windy since it started being cold again for about 3 days. And tomorrow I go to town, so I won't be doing much except for checking to make sure they are all watered. I even put some out in the uncovered area of the porch and they got hail but also some nice fresh rainwater. The hail was small and brief, kinda' like "popcorn snow" rather than the heavy marbles that occasionally come here after the snow season has gone. I remember years ago

Sharon ~ I finished yesterday, planting all that you sent. They looked OK, hopefully we will not have a freeze tonight. The bulbs that you sent...I wasn't sure about them, so since they had no labels, I planted the ones that looked like each other into the same large hole and then when they bloom, I will move them if necessary. When do they bloom, in fall?

Jeanette ~ Do you STILL have snow on the ground? It is hard to work outside when it is cold...BRRRR....

Dave ~ 'Burgundy Glow' is my favorite ajuga. Right now I have the regular bronze, and I can't bear to pull it all out when it is just coming into flower. I cannot, however, be responsible for what happens afterward, as it is a thug!

JB ~ I am SO sorry to hear about that inspection. They are always a surprise. I remember years ago, when I had a small retail nursery, I had my first inspection. The dogwoods were quarantined. I had no idea why as they just came in that same day. I know you have had a lot of trouble with those Aimees. Is it worth all the trouble? I guess we need to know that as we all go to a lot of trouble to keep certain things alive, especially plants we love. I know you love them. Good luck! My peonies are not yet blooming as they are still coming up. It looks as though the tree peony will be blooming this year, even though I transplanted it last fall. I wasn't sure that I took the whole root with it and it is one that deer have chomped down a couple of times, so it is like a flower (bud) on a stick, with no foliage except at the top. I also moved a regular peony as the tree man unearthed one, or maybe I did. It has leaves on it and looks fine, though it probably will not bloom this year as it is quite small. Probably part of a root. I had not idea they would take so easily.

Well, I am glad that you all had a nice Mother's Day. I got a nice card from my son and his wife and a phone call, since they live in Florida. I heard from 2 out of 3 granddaughters, so it was quiet, but nice. We had Steve's cousin (and his wife) over, to pick up a bookcase that he is giving to that "side of the family", and they were very nice.

Sleep well everyone. Good night.
