evelyn_inthegarden wrote: JB ~ Your peonies are quite lovely. I just have some white ones and one pink tree peony which was supposed to be white but by the time it bloomed I did not remember where I bought it, or if I did, I wasn't going to dig it up as it was a lovely pink one. Nothing is in bloom yet, though it should be soon at least for the tree peony. Katie ~ Do you have any pictures of your epis in bloom? They are gorgeous flowers. My mom used to have a night-blooming cereus when I was young, and we all went out to watch it come open at night. Quite a show. Is your foot feeling any better? It must be hard trying to sleep with that brace on. I rarely sleep through the night, so I know how difficult it can be. Sharon ~ I planted everything you sent. One of the bulbs is already trying to show up. The weather has warmed up a bit again, actually just about perfect. It is supposed to cool off tomorrow just a bit, then rain by Sunday, as it was first predicted, by Friday. they keep changing their tune...then it is supposed to rain Sunday, through next Thursday or so....hmmm. Maybe the weather report will change again....last time it was supposed to rain it hailed. I have no idea when the C - Bluestone co-op will be here, or Pacific Callas. It should be interesting to see me planting all of them, as I am sure I have ordered too many. I will probably put the surplus into the Peach of a Garden, as the colors will go in there. The rest will go into the "cottage garden". Has anyone ever put any sort of plants in pots and then "plunged" them into the garden? I have been thinking of doing that with all of my tropical plants as I never seem to dig them up in time and then they sulk all spring and just start their growth in the summer. Many have not bloomed for quite some time now. The one canna is starting to show growth as we have had some nice warm days, so I pulled the mulch away. The same with the Eucomis. I will have to figure this one out, but I think I should do that with the callas as they are fairly small and would not be too crowded by the pots. If you have any experience with this method, please let me know, OK? Thanks! Here is a group of white daffs from May 2nd... This message was edited May 11, 2011 10:54 PM |
