Crissy just love how you describe the plant in each photo. Lol. Sounds much like me, they are pretty but don't always know their names..

Let's us go to next photo until we reach mid 50's then caption changes but photo does not..

Yes Betty, Life can change in the blink of an eye. We came very close to loosing a family member a few years ago in a serious auto accident. He is well now with little issue from the accident but we came very close to loosing him. Really just a few minutes more and he would have been gone. I quite often think life is fleeting and although there are hard times and troubles. It should be enjoyed as much as possible. What's that line don't sweat the small stuff and It's all small stuff.
Linda, hope your knee settles down. I think I might need to call my Ortho Dr next week and see about a shot. Can't remember when I had the last one.

Victoria Harbour, ON

How right you are Holly? Are you scheduled to work this weekend? Imagine with mothers day the garden center would be busier than normal

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Yes, I work Sat and Sun but only in the morning from 6 -12 so it won't interfere with the Mothers Day doings. Ric will have everything all taken care of.
Crissy, I am going to check out your garden pics as soon as I can. I did a quick glance but really want to go back and look at each pic.

Betty - how do I keep all of What in my head? Yes, I've been busy at work, but also at personal stuff, too. What with our "busy season" at the church being Easter, we were going, going, going all the time....
Well, the ladies at work took me out for lunch..... such as it was......
I picked the restaurant (African foods and some East Indian stuff just to make it interesting).
We were to go from 11:30 to 1:00 and didn't get out of the building until 12:10 (I sat at my desk for 40 minutes ready to go, but they forgot to tell me it was changed to Noon because of meetings). They spent the majority of lunch talking about work stuff I wasn't privy to, and/or on their blackberrys. Anything I said sounded so lame......
We didn't get our food until 12:45, then promptly at 1:00 the Exec Director went on a conference call with a group of people. She ended up taking most of the call in her van, and the Director and I talked about her sore eyes. To say I was disappointed is an understatement.
This lunch was an appreciation lunch for me, for the work I do for them.
The one positive note was that they'd never been to the restaurant, and were very impressed with it. It was a shame that one of the Directors was ill, and stayed at home.

Anyway, I'm home now and waiting for my DH to come home from work.

My DD and D SIL sent me a mother's day card - so sweet. Wish I could visit her and my mom. Too far away..........

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

Happy Mother's Day, all you wonderful mothers out there!!!!

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Hello Everyone!

This is just going to be short and sweet. I'm alringhtbut am tired and my brain just doesn't want to deal with alot. My DD and GD left this afternoon for Wis. and my SIL stayed to help out here on the farm. He will probably go back in a couple of weeks. The hardest will be when everyone is gone but the dogs and I. I will go in next week and see about work. I know that the full time position I had to give up to stay at home has been filled. We'll see what they can do or I'll look for another part time job to help out. I did have the GD hook me up with skype so the GD and I can visit and she was able to be at the memorial service with us. It's great.
Will go up to my Mom's Mother's day with the SIL and help her out. I'm taking a box that Tubby built for her patio to have her garden there and I don't have to worry about her out in the garden falling and no one knows she's there. I haven't been to her house in over a year. It'll be good to see her and bring some sun shine in her life.
When I have some quiet time and can concentrate better I will go back and read thru the post. Please give Ann a HUG from me and let her know they are in my prayers.
God Bless you all and sweet dreams to all.
Love to you all -
Shirley

Susan, that was in poor taste..focus really should have been on you seeing it was in appreciation of all you do! I!m not one to try new foods but I do envy you willingness to do so..is there any food you'll not try? Movie night is when? Sorry you cannot be with your mom this mothers day..have to decide about wether I'll travel to the city at some point this weekend, much depends on which day the boys will come

Holly that's a good shift!

Debbie how are you feeling today? Any improvement

Laura, bet you are off for another weekend of camping and fun

Lordy I'm lazy tonight..might head off to bed..I do much better early mornings

Victoria Harbour, ON

Shirley, thrilled to see you post and I'm sure we all agree that there is no need to respond to all of us dropping in to let us know how you are doing will suffice..try not to take on too much !

Your mom will enjoy the gardening box and will cherish it as it was made by Tubby.

Glad you will have help for a few weeks!

Know you've been in our thoughts and prayers this past week..

Keep well my friend

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello To All !

(((HUGS))) Shirley ! I hope you don't feel you have to read back... it would be so much and I wouldn't want that to prevent your keeping in touch with how you are doing. Sometimes I read back but sometimes it's just hard too... I know everyone understands when you can't. I'm so glad GD is helping ya'll keep in touch. What a great Mothers day Gift !

I told DH I wanted to get MIL an above ground planter. Her knees and ankles give her trouble. Hopefully he has remembered... we looked at the one I wanted to get her Saturday...

HAHA Betty - on the Hops... I suppose I've never thought of them as a plant. I used to drink beer... but more wine now. LOVE your Joel Olsteen quote... that's the kind of thing I should read every morning.

LK - I agree with Crissy & Holly about the med records. Suppose you could march in there and pick them up yourself. The older I get the less I trust DR.s. LOVE the garden pics Crissy... you have been a busy woman !
Yes Susan... those folks were just plain rude. Wonder if they are younger folks? Some of my friends put their Iphones on the table while we eat lunch. Like something is just SO urgent that they can't miss a text or call. and NONE of them are emergency Surgeons LOL. I'm sorry that happened to you... you don't deserve that.

((HUGS)) Shirley and thank you again for keeping us in touch !

I'll pop back in a bit...

Mary aka "The Night Shifter".....

PS: Happy Mothers Day Barb ... AND everyone... although I'll most likely be back to say again !

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 3b)

((((((((((Shirley)))))))))))) I agree - you'll get caught up in the older posts and not be able to post to the new ones. Just know that we love you, treasure you, and are here for you whatever you're feeling.

Mary - My bosses are in their early 40's, and as they're with the Health System's HR dept, and higher up the "food chain" they do have pretty demanding jobs. I just get a little "wounded" when they forget to include me on knowledge I should have (like lunch plans being changed by 1/2 hr and leaving me wait). I consider it common courtesy. I know the Director was a little understanding, but couldn't seem to get herself out of the "don't know what to say to Susan, cuz I don't know her very well" rut.
I guess I've been so good at being the person in the background that they don't ask my opinions much, and our weekly Info meetings have become every 2 or 3 weeks, so it's difficult to have input with them. It's like they forget I have a intellect to share, although I know they know I do. I'm just not privy to a lot of what they are doing. The Exec Director has a new HUGE project she's doing and all she can say is "it's extremely confidential". I know "Confidential" like I know my own name. It's rather unnecessary (and I told her so) to keep telling me that their work is confidential. I know it is.......... and I always turn the paperwork upside down when anyone approaches me, or I leave my desk.. I sometimes feel like I'm being micromanaged.
Maybe I'm being paranoid, or oversensitive, but I haven't been there 6 months, so my probation isn't up yet.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good morning everyone, not raining yet so it is indeed a good morning!

Making the coffee, if you can wait I'll pick up Tim Horton donuts...guess who is up, dressed shovel in hand ready to take the back roads looking for cedars...if you guess betty then you get the star lol

I will not linger, be back to chat in a bit..still need to find my shovel!
Almost said broom but that's a witch..shovel is for God's garden helpers

Lexington Park, MD

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Looks like this weekend Laura is not a traveling weekend..hope you are able to pick up all the plants you need for garden and veggie plots..I also do well at the church plant sale they have 1st weekend in June..

Car is full of cedars' some small roots of lilac, few pine so now it's make myself a coffee and go plant them..it's sunshine here today so I'm hoping to accomplish much

Victoria Harbour, ON

My early morning has provided me with lots to plant

Foggy morning but with the sun coming through it was absolutely gorgeous..drats, debated about taking a camera with me..should have, stopped twice to watch the deer crossing the road..no wonder they get hit, they just stand and look at you...

Want to go back tomorrow morning so I'll be sure to take my camera incase they come out to say 'hello'

Tomorrow morning I'll go back to get more lilacs..they are right at the roadside and last year I thought I should go get some and before I did
Township equipment mowed them down so this year I'll go get roots..but did manage this many..

went to look at the few that I planted last year and they are about 1 1/2 ft. tall..will have to mark when they were planted in my garden journal so I know how many years it took for them to mature..let's see 63+20...yikes doubt I'll be around to enjoy but others will...

Few pines...

Well better get my act together, just realized that one of the 'todo's' for the kids was to hang the big stained glass picture frame and I remembered about 4 pieces had come off last year so I'd best get it repaired before they come..

Also need hooks/chains..want to put the window frame that Cathy gave me for christmas with the dragonflies on it on back deck as well so will mean a trip into Home Depot but if you saw what I look like you wouldn't go anywhere..will plant everything, then clean myself up..

just love these kind of days..

Oh Betty, I saw your car full of plants, and it made me laugh. We will call you our Midnight rider plant thief! LOL!
Now I have Ben know to walk by and steal a seed head or two, but went for ride, and came back with my car full of plants!
Shirley, so glad to see you posting. Sending you many
((((((((((((( HUGS )))))))))))
Just post when you can, and don't worry about catching up with us.

Morning everyone.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Trees all planted..had the telephone outside and when I heard Ann's voice my heart skipped a bit..she asked if I would hem a dress and pair of black pants for her this afternoon..was going I to town but that comes last...

Her MIL died during the night, funeral will be Monday..Ann is not sure I'd she will travel to the city for it..her girls will travel between funeral home and palliative care..ann says it all depends how mike is doing..as always I told her she would be in your prayers..she has not told mike of the death..to what purpose would it be..

Cathy is here, we are contemplating putting the top n the gazebo so the cushions and covers could be set out to enjoy a sit out but don't want the boys to slap my fingers...what to do,what to do!!

Linda Kay these were just sitting along the roadside looking for new home..will make another midnight ride tomorrow..mostly for lilac roots..can plant them all along the neighbors fallen down fence line so will wait to clean my car

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sorry to hear about Mikes Mom passing. Please pass on our condolence's to her. Any word on Mike? How is he doing? Hope they are keeping him out of pain?

Carrollton, OH(Zone 6a)

So sorry to hear of Ann's MIL passing......Ann has such a full plate ,may God give her the strength to carry it all ~~

Betty I had to just set hear and giggle....I carry a shovel in the trunk of my car at all times......one just never knows when you may come across a few beauties in a ditch !!! One of the the positive reasons for living in a rural area ~~ LOL

This is me .................. LOL

Have a Great Afternoon all ..........

Betty, LOL What a haul.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sending prayers to Ann and Mike. I think she did the right thing by not telling Mike. What difference would it make at this point? None. Keeping all of you in my prayers.....

Ann did drop in and I've done the alterations to her clothing..

Because of the funeral home and pre made arrangements it was necessary for Ann to tell Mike. She said he was very wiet and didn't say much but she could see he was thinking!!

He hasn't been doing the best, needed several treatments last night re fluid on the lungs..liver not working much right now..

Visitation is to or row afternoon for a few hours then funeral Monday morning..she wants to be with her daughters as they bury their grandmother but not sure she can...ann told the girls they would all have to respect each others decision as to what would transpire these next few weeks..everyone's nerves are beyond wound up..

She had ordered me double lily bulbs for my birthday from Veseys..they arrived yesterday so she brought them over for me , as if she thought of doing so..could have waited..

Cathy spent the afternoon, put her to work. Lol. We got the front deck cleaned, water feature working..then did the top for the gazebo and put lawn furniture out..emptied the back flower garden shed and p,aced items in the gardens..looks tacky right now lol until the plants hide them..love just passing by and seeing something..

So now it's bath time for me, nighty and will enjoy the evening..was telling Cathy NO tree digging for me in the morning..enough is enough and I've reached that point..besides, boys won't be happy with me

So all and all a productive day!

Just feel so badly that friends are hurting!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thank you Bev..flowers are appreciated!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I don't know what the bug is, I was going to put it on the bug ID at work but I forgot and my internet's too slow here at the house to do it.

LOL I work a full time job and have a 45 minute commute one way, and I don't do anything with those gardens except weed them. They're tagged, the ones I don't remember are the ones where the ink has came off of the tag. The veggie garden is all Dave, he built it, grows it, and maintains it. We have 8 tomato plants to go plant once he wakes up but I need to do a beer run first!

(((((((((((((((SHIRLEY))))))))))))))) No one is going to care if you don't catch up, I know I never do as I don't have the time, unless you want to don't stress it, that's small stuff.

Betty so sorry to hear about Mike's mom passing. Not a good time to be worried about your bulbs is it? LOL how cute though!

Well I'm going to make my beer run since Dave's snoring on the couch and I'll come back later and tell y'all about my day!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, grab me a bottle of wine while you are at it please!

Jammies feel so good, got water ready to wash the floors and then I am done.?in more ways that one..looking forward to hearing about you day!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, Ann and I could have used your bottle of wine..lordy that lady is running of nerves..we had a nice 1/2 hour. Visit..so much stress for her and the girls, everyone dealing with different feelings..managed to get her dress suit pants taken in, perfect fit..sure wish. Could do more for her..

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I think it is good that Mike knows. He knows his time is short, and he isn't leaving Ann with his Moms care also....and now he knows he will be greeted by his dear Mom. AND...his dear Mom won't have to suffer through loosing a child. I think it worked out for the better in the long run....but is so very very hard for all of them.

Rest...let the boys do the work.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie you are so right, even as Ann left when we hugged we said the Lord was putting everything in place, she's just hoping Mike makes it through the next few days..senior home called her to say they needed forms signed and everything must be removed from the home to accommodate another senior..Ann's niece drove over this afternoon to get the clothing for Mikes mom....lee-ann just isn't dealing well with this

Thanks for listening to me rant..think these type of situations bring a lot of memories best lef sleeping..think you know what I mean Debbie!

How are you doing today?

Lexington Park, MD

Well the auction was huge. So many flowers, trees and vegetable plants. Darn forgot my camera.
So sorry to hear about Mikes Mom .
Betty just love the stash in your car.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Laura what did you purchase?? And is YOUR stash planted

Yours wasn't a plant sale but an auction right? Did they go for a moderate price?

Mary, see... Your hubby could auction off plants. Lol

Starving but too lazy to cook and if I want to order from restaurant then I must get dressed to pick it up

Was watching kids a few doors up could get one to run over to pick it up!!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

I to agree with Debbie, I know he will be sad but it may also be a relief to Mike that his Mom is at peace now.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Turned heat up, found a pair of dressie p.j. 's, with a jacket on who would know..poutine/cheeseburger and pop. $7.95. Not worth cooking is it?

Amazing how much we can take and not break at the time..Ann who had anxiety attacks just driving into Midland and look what she's managing to deal with at this time.

Having thei yearly shingdig across the street, usually goes till early morning, dent keep me up, always invited but it's more for younger crowd..

Lenny called earlier, my Mil and SIL were at their house having Mothers day meal but just not up to it..there, could have saved $8.00 and bought a plant. Lol
