Thunder, How great for your son. My twins first job was at the local ski resort and they got free skiing as one of the perks of the job. Josh wasn't too happy at first as he somehow ended up working the pizza stand inside while all his friends worked the lift lines out on the slopes. That lasted till the first day when the girls all came inside to take a break and striped down out of their ski gear at the lockers next to the pizza stand and then came over to flirt with him and get some pizza and sodas. LOL I worked as a hostess at one of the local bars for a little extra $$ one year, the dishwashers sure do work hard.

Betty I ahve been calling for 2 days not knowing what I would say if Linda answered.... it just goes to the machine. Do you think after 232 messageas she will think I really want to talk anad comfort her? Never let it be said I am not persistent.
D
Dianne, so sorry to hear about your friend losing her son! Wow, don't know what I would do if I found my son like that! Sending prayers for her and family.
I would say you've put your all into it,only thing you can do..perhaps a card writing down a few thoughts then after that it's up to her!
Haven't heard anything from Ann ..my thoughts are so with her and Shirley! Last night I spent several hours wide awake thinking about what they are going through having been there myself..not sure if my being only 43 helped..
Holly, we have ski lodges about 15 minutes from here, seems all the teens go to be 1st. In line when they are hiring..they wanted Jeff to be a ski instructor but he enjoyed the not working and doing the flirting..every year in their Christmas stocking thed get a ski pass..purpose was to keep them out of mischief. Lol now they do same with their boys
Yep, All my kids worked. I think it is good for them. They need time for school work and some fun but especially in the summers when they were home and I was working. I wanted them to have something more to do than just hang out. Julie worked at Wendy's (fast food) and in the summer I paid her to watch her brothers & sister, Jen & Josh the ski resort in the winter, Pizza shop, horse barn and local contractor in the summer, Jamie worked at the pizza shop, and for the school district in maintenance. I remember him coming home absolutely filthy as they had him cleaning the boiler ducts.
Not 232 - 23 messagesa ... even I am not that stubborn.
Betty I think I know exactly where your boys went to play ooops mean ski! What a wonderful part of Canada you live in. Spent several hours/days/weeks up there myself when I was much younger and should have been attending my university classes. Somehow I actually graduated university even if my major was social life.
((((Ann and Mike)))
Hey Dianne; Yes - Don't we all major in "Social life" in university ! LOL... Agree Holly the best thing ever was kids getting jobs...
Wow Betty - didn't realize you were 43 when you went through all that... ((HUGS)) how difficult.... did he see the kids graduate High School?
Thunder - sounds like a Great job for him !
Hugs,
Mary
Morning all. Betty quick look outside - the sun is trying to come out. It looks heavenly - lets hope it stays this way all day.
Make sure you all do something nice for yourself today ladies.
Dianne
Dianne, we are looking at the same sunrise and yes it's absolutely gorgeous out but on cold side..just turned Frankie Flowers on to see if he listened to me yesterday so you could have sunshine this Mothers Day! Glad to hear you didn't call her 232 times as that might be considered stalking! Lol
Mary, Jeff was still in University, Greg had just started a co-op, Greg was dating and Jeff playing the field ..young to lose their father!! Both hung onto their Uncle Paul through the years, glad he was there for them and now there for me..he's a good boss to me..
Dianne, it is no wonder we call this area "God's Country"!! Within minutes I can be at ski slopes, best snowmobile trail systems, on Georgian Bay (some of the most distinct waterways) for boating and fishing..we have low lands, highland and mountainous lands so I am always thrilled to have visitors so I can show them what I enjoy!
Dianne bet right now you are seeing Frankie telling you rain front moving out of your area..oh happy days..warming trend coming, improved weekend forecast!
Best I get moving, Walmart in barrie is the only place I can find "hops" each year, if you aren't right there when they come out in the garden center you miss out..sure could do eith a few more..
Gab later
Pussy Willow Ornamental Tree...have to read the tag and see just how tall it will grow
Doesn't really have leaves, just the little 'pussies' lol so hard to show it's beauty...
nor does the neighbors yards..going to visit with a farmer I was told had all kinds of scrap cedars for sale for $5.00 each..if I get time this weekend I'll run up and purchase some..eventually I'll have hidden myself from their yards...but on the good side, another months and trees will be in bloom and I'll never know they are there...
This garden is on my agenda for cleaning this weekend..if you see the large window with metal art and mirror, within a month or so it will be surrounded by lovely flowering trees..hard to believe such drab will be a thing of beauty

Morning everyone! Betty, what is that first flower please? it is so pretty! Love the blue!
Sure hope your weather warms up for you this week-end!
Phlox, I have about 30 throughout the gardens, try to fine new colors each year..last year I found a few mi iatures..waiting to see how they do this year
Wow, I have not seen a phlox, that looks like that! It looks like a lily?
Kris, you need to call the Dr, and get something that works. Praying you find an answer soon!
Kris, I'd be packing up and heading to the hospital emergency room..that is not good..sending you hugs and prayers..
LindaKay sorry, thought you meant the second photo..going back to look at the blues
Can't remember the name, planted bulbs ..someone help??? maybe it will come to me
Elf, Hope you are feeling better soon. I am painting molding today. Then heading out to work this afternoon.
Betty Dave's birthday is the Friday before, May 20th, so no worries, I took Friday off as well to party with him or whatever he wants to do, he's not into celebrating birthdays for more than a day so I'm not worried about it. I just can't believe he's going to be 50! I think I'm going to get my own room in the same hotel so I can sleep in on Monday LOL I am more than happy to take the day off to see you! Does anyone have a phone that works in the states so I can keep track of you?
Kris LK's right, you need to get something that works, this is insane.
Betty it's not going to be cold, when it got cold a few days ago we were 30* below normal, we're going to be in the mid 80's all week next week and hopefully the floods will be gone by then too, we're all floating away and the Mississippi River is flooding too, heard Memphis on the flood report this morning but was getting ready for work and didn't hear what they said, and they have a section of I-40 closed here in Arkansas because the White River has flooded it.
That Phlox is gorgeous!
Well I have something to figure out and am going to give it my all before I pass it on, so we'll see what happens here.
Crissy, the girls have phones that I think you can text..I'm taking the ipad..got to figure how to get a usa card for it so I can buy time so I can use when I'm not near wifi...
Have to telephone Rogers Cable..they say for domestic use for 1 month only $24.98 but domestic, not sure if that means Canada only??will check it out..
Hate to see you get a room on your own..lordy, we'd only be a 1/2 hr. or so getting ready and then you could sleep in until 11am
LindaKay think they are Chionodoxa luciliae (glory of the snow)
The blue flowers look like hiacynth to me. Could be wrong.
HI everyone. I'm home for a few and just trying to catch up a bit. This week has been wonderful spending time with the boys. They are great kids and so helpful to both Papa and I. They are pretty much self sufficient and we are only there for cooking meals and guidance if needed. Oh, that and writing absence notes for school. They had early dismissal on Tuesday and Norm and Scott's dad (the other Papa) took them to a Red Sox game in Boston. It was a night game and they didn't get home until nearly 1 AM!!!! I kept them both home from school yesterday as they would have been useless in school as tired as they were. Mom may have a fit when she gets home but it was my call. I don't think she will be angry though.. They both do very well in school.
Tubby's Tulips look so pretty. I'm sure he is smiling...Sending you big hugs Shirley. Wish I were there to do it in person...
Betty please let Ann know we are praying so hard for Mike's comfort and for strength for her. It is not easy and my heart goes out toher.
Prayers being said for all here. I must run and get some shopping done today. Hope you all have a wonderful day....
LOL OK ok ok, I'll stay with y'all! I ususally wake up between 7 and 8am on weekends, I can never sleep til 11! Makes my back hurt just thinking about it.
I think they are Hiacynth Barb, I wanted to say, "It's the name of that one flower that begins with an H."
Very well could by hyacynth..you know me, as long as they are pretty there is no need to know their names..lol
I'm sure your daughter will be thrilled that the children go to go to the game..you both will be hero's in their eyes..nothing like a grandparents giving days off...your week will soon be over and it will seem so very quiet without them around!!
Always tell Ann that they are in all your thoughts and prayers..she's in need of them for sure!!
The little purple plant in the background...is grape hyacinth....but the taller purple in the front is not. Not sure what that is. I have the small grape everywhere. Planted them onces, they multiplied and now pop up and surprise me everywhere.
Debbie, so nice to see you post..how are you feeling?
Elfie get that doctor called. You can't go on suffering like this - as I tell my DH it is inhumane to put yourself through such torture.
Had a Skype call from our friends in Jakarta last night. They have been warned to go directly to the school campus from their homes, not to go downtown or got to a bar or out to dinner. They sound pretty unsettled and are counting the sleeps until their plane leaves Indonesia June 18 for them to come home for the summer.
Love the pussy willows. How outstnding a church full of them for a wedding would look!!!
Whooo hoooo Crissy is meeting up with Betty in Graceland. So happy for you both. Betty did you settle on comfort or economy re the vehicle driving?
Barb how could your DD be upset about the boys missing a day of school they made a memory that will be with them for their lifetimes. Now that is important!
Muffins in the oven and then when they are ready Stormy and I need to head on out.
Sun still shining..... sure makes the mood much lighter.
Dianne
Dianne, what is going on in Jakarta?
Betty, you are right. They are so pretty, and I have never h eard of them before! They come in many colors.
Chionodoxa luciliae glory of the snow

Wow, look at the various colors and species..will have to look for others..there are grouping all over in back garden, look forward to them all blooming..
No, haven't made up our minds as to which vehicle we will take..so hoping Rita will change her mind and come with us..if she does then it's Suzanne's car for sure.
Dianne if you remember a few years ago Debbie and I met up with Crissy in Memphis..got to tell you they all but lifted me over graceland stone hedging..them was bad.....
Crissy...hear her tell that story? Wasn't it US holding her back??? We were concerned for bail money if I remember!!! Then defacing the walls of Graceland writing names on it!
Betty, I have had a few rough days....today isn't much better.
Went to Dermo yesterday, had stitches removed from foot biopsy and they doing his "body scan" found a patch on my face. Said it needed treatment, so used liquid nitrogen on it....it burned!!
Did not feel like PT this morning. It is the "anniversary" of the entire "Shannon diagnosis" and I am just in the dumps.
PT did some testing with my arm and exercises....and sent me back to my surgeon/ortho. I have an appt. on Friday morning at 10:00....probably moving surgery date up.
The sun is shinging...so Izzy and I are going outside for a bit.
HUGS to Shirley & Bev....and all who need it. KRIS...go to the doctor!
Debbie
Debbie, sorry to hear your having a rough time! Praying all your pains, and injuries heal quickly.
Debbie .....((((Hugs )))) and Prayers .
Kris hope you feel better soon ,you have been in agony way too long !!
Betty I think you may have Dutch Hyacinth 'Delft Blue' growing in your midst ..... http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/68653/
Here is a pic of my Bleeding Heart that I took yesterday...........
Got to tell you Debbie, you have no idea how many times I smile thinking about our adventures..won't be the last one..promise you that..I do think you had better get yourself better, need a co-passenger who knows how to work the gps..
That's a lot going on in your life, sending you hugs..prayers without saying..
You'll have to stay out of the sun Debbie..when will they have the results back???
No idea what it is..promise to self..'self, get that gardening manual out, make design of all the gardens and have friends identify what's there that way you will know'
Was going to Walmart to pick up the HOPS because I was too late this morning to do so, car wouldn't start..guess who left her lights on..
Tow truck driver said one should really change to new battery about every 3 years..know it was my stupidity but will have it checked and replaced if they find it weak.. thank goodness for Roadside Assistance..walked and got a salad so here I am, still 20 minutes left to my lunch..first thing I thought of, 'Lord wanted me off the road for an hour' as I heard ambulances going up Ann street..
Ha Betty!! You are sooo bad, you rotten child you! Debbie we were making sure we had bail money!
Oh Betty if a tow truck driver told me that I'd tell him to blow it out his ear. I replace my battery when it starts going waa waaaa waaaa when I start my car, a good battery should last 5 years but they rarely do, don't let them talk you into things you don't need because you're a woman, if your battery takes a charge from the alternator and starts fine from then on out you don't need a new battery.
What I thought Crissy..never have problems even in the coldest weather it's just that I turned on the lights early this a.m. and left them on...
Time for home..
Betty, your car is not that old, the lights should go out by themselves, when you turn off the car?
LK my brand new car doesn't have that option, that's an option some cars have and some cars don't.
