We both love to garden and living in a Townhouse with no yard makes it very hard to have a garden.
Nothing like a fresh tomato off the vine.
The kids get to see how it all works.
They think everything comes from the store.
What do you have planned for the day Betty?
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..
This is Gyphon typing for NANA,,,,,,
{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Shirley}}}}}}}}}}}}}} I too will be planting a plant for Tubby at 10am your time. I cannot say what I think of Tubbies family right now as the DGK's are here and reading this.
The last few days have been so hard for me. I feel like I have cried buckets of tears, Tubby passed on the morning of my moms birth, and so I cried for them both that day.
Ralphs family all live in Northern Alabama, We finally heard from the last of them this morning at 6am. His dad is near Birmingham and has had not water or power for the past few days. His brother is in Ringold, Ga and lost part of his house, but is ok, All of the rest of the family live in or around Rainsville, Alabama,,, There is no Rainsville any longer, the devestation is unbeliveable. Here we have a few trees down from winds but nothing else. The gardens are a mess, The kids will be working on them today :{
The new doctor does not think I have RA. I am having a biopsy and have had new blood tests. He thinks I have hepititis C. He also thinks it has caused a skin disease which is causing had spots all over my body and then can be pealed off. I have ugly white scars everywhere from these! I had noticed this last year, however my useless MD said they were old age spots. She will be getting replaced. I am so upset with her.
Have to go now, need to supervise as I have both hands in splints and cannot do anything else,,,,,sigh,
Hugs to all,,, Elfie
Laura, my guest just left so now it's off to town to pick up a few things and do banking, stop at the nursery and home to edge as many gardens as I can and perhaps even work one near the back outhouse/flower shed I made last year..of course I'm looking at windows and it wouldn't hurt to get them done..soo feeling like my old self so am able to take on the world today!
Kris you tell that little one we appreciate the typing on your behalf..again last night I watched the weather channel and saw the devastation both in property value but omg the lives lost...so with this in mind I pray for you and yous..may they all ba safe..
Now that you have another physician perhaps you can find out whT the problem is...have lupus in our family, took a few lives because not diagnosed soon enough but the white spots, the sores etc so remind me of their symptoms...am sure they would catch that if they were doing blood tests??
Am hoping that today will be a sunshine day for you both..
Laura, sitting here thinking about tomato. And cucumber sandwiches..perhaps I'd better find a corner and plant a few
If I hurry I can be in town and home again by 11:00
Morning everyone! Shirley, it was so nice to see you posting. I can't say anything better, than what Betty posted, but please know we are with you in spirit all the time! I too will be getting a red hibiscus for my garden, as I know tubby loved them. I have some of his seeds planted, but they are only about 2 inches tall.
Dianne, please post all your recipes here? Sounds like all of us would like to try them.
Looks like Shirley is the special one, as she is the only one that has flowers by her name! Please tell us how you did that?
((((((((((((((((SHIRLEY)))))))))))))) I am so glad you posted! You're absolutely right, his family will have to live with themselves and the anger and guilt they carry on a daily basis, I could not imagine going through life with that kind of attitude, but they choose to live with it, you don't, and like someone said above you will be the one holding your head up high in the mirror! Betty said it better than I could ever say it also. I am with you in spirit as well and will have a moment of silence in my office as I will be at work.
Betty you are so funny with your guests. No worries at all, shows the crime rate here in the states when the first thing we all think about is you getting robbed, or worse.
Dave went to his dad's house to help him with something and said it could be an all day adventure so I think that I'm going to grab a shower and head to town.
(((((((((((((((((BEV))))))))))))))))))
Good Morning.
Shirley, Very good to see you post! I am in total agreement with Betty and everyone. Let us all embrace you a we have already fell in love with you, the first time you posted! I am so glad that your Family is there with you. All the strength and love you portrayed for and with Tubby will give you additional strength to go on with, or with out that side of the family. He will always be in your heart, and ours...
I too will be in my Gardens at 10:00 Monday Morning, and I will plant a pretty perennial at the base.
Bev, Prayers continue...
Betty, so nice you had a guest for B&B!! bummer it's still chilly out, but well gives you a chance to work on your blocks...
Oh goodness Kris, I sure hope the new Dr. can figure out what's going on, in mean time gentle, gentle arm wraps going your way.
Waiving Hi Gyphon, so sweet of you to help your Nana!! Give her a gentle hug for us ok.
Laura, how cool you will take part in a community garden!! I hope it isn't too far from you. A friend of mine has a plot just out side her complex and is just loving it...
Lets, see, yesterday after watching the Royal wedding, spent a little bit of time out side...Was a gorgeous day. When Steve got home, he supervised my playing with the big tools, lol...We cut the floor boards and i screw them in place, first i had to wash all the boards as they have been sitting behind the house for ages, but whew was so glad they could be of use and finally decluttering that...
This morning yanked some weeds and now getting ready to lay some pea gravel. Also chose the wood for the work table.
Sigh, he is gone for a bike ride before it rains! So I hope he enjoys that.
Later today we are Going to Jenny and Curts Wedding-Remember Jenny, was our "other Kid"...Just hope the weather holds out for them.
Dianne, yikes, glad no damage was done to your home or property! Oh my gosh, looking forward to seeing the recipe too.
Mary, hope you get all the errands done! i am still trying to decide what to wear for the wedding in May, lolol heck i don't even know what I will wear today! hmmm, maybe my turquoise sundress.
Well I better get moving, things to get finished up.
Ackkk, got figure out why Skittles is literally screaming...
Have a great day!
No word as of now. BEV
I'm still praying Bev. Something has to break soon......
I don't know if I can handle something bad.
Bev, is it from the storm he is missing? Sending many prayers, and ((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) to you.
No he suffers from bad depression and is going through a divorce and has many financial woes.
Sorry to hear that. Sending many prayers, that he calls and checks in today.
Omg Bev, how are you mentally managing it? Is it due to the storms he's missing? Has he gone tramping the countryside before? Prayers that you will have answers shortly..
Went to home depot as they are about the only garden center open at this time of year and not much other than shrubs they have.I purchased 3 -5' cedars and worked on the patio area..always find when you move your chair but a few inches you are off the slab so I've cleared the area to put another row length and width so it will be roomy, want a new patio set but no could do with the size I had..am hoping boys can set blocks down next weekend..need a barrier so cedars it shall be and when I'm sitting enjoying the sounds of the water feature and birdies are chirping, I'll hear Tubby say",silly girl, sit and smell the roses" I will go in search of a rose bush in Barrie this
week to set beside the pond..so peaceful, all is well with the world sitting there..
I've managed to get 2 flower gardens weeded and now 9 more to go...certainly won't be today..
Maybe I'll put a touch od vodka in the orange juice, might help me dorm up a but more energy..
Bev, I would say that the combination of all that put together is enough for him to want a bit of time away from everything so he can re-adjust his thinking...hoping he at least calls someone to let them know he!s ok..just not thinking at this point in his lifetime..
Maybe something less physical would do me good..could see if I can get the little water feature on from deck work g..did a no no..didn't put it away this winter...ooops
Bev, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your son. Maybe he just needs some time to work through things in his mind. Is this the young man we met when we came to see you?
(((Shirley)))) The others have said it very well, you will be able to sleep at night. THem, its that whole Karma thing. They are the ones that have to look in the mirror and know what they have done. Lots of love to you...you and Tubby are so very special to me, I hope you know that. He could always make me smile when life got so very hard.
I have been out with "the child" and also picked up something for my Memory garden. I need to get to work. The hubby is working today.
Debbie
G'day all! Busy day today - Hot Tub repair came, and they also had an electrician put in a new breaker. We had a "Spa Buddy" to install, but the electrician said better to put in a GFI breaker. He's taken the Spa Buddy (it's a breaker box just for the hot tub), and has credited us $75 towards our total bull for hot tub repair and breaker, so cost is now only $225! Wow.
Heading out to pay some bills (once the hot tub is filled and breaker/on switch turned on) and then will go to the Garden Centre to buy a red Hibiscus (will have to keep it inside until weather is plant-able) and also a Peace Lily (to put in the fish bowl of my Siamese fighting fish at work).
My DH has gone to Claresholm (about 1 1/2 hrs from here) to help a friend's brother move from Calgary to Claresholm).and he's heading back now.
Tonight we're going to his Bowling Banquet. I wanna go out and do some clothes shopping for it, but need to stay here until the hot tub service guys are finished...... They just headed back to the shop to get a new pressure switch cuz we have an older tub and they carry parts for more recent vintage...
Tomorrow we're going to another church's service - a Celtic one where they're "kirking in the tartan" ^_^ My DH and I are going to get into our Scottish clothing. They'll have a piper, a celtic choir, and everyone will be wearing the tartan. I'd better take pictures, eh?
I have been out with "the child" and also picked up something for my Memory garden. I need to get to work. The hubby is working today.Debbie
LOL I love it! "the child" and "the hubby" LOL
Bev - my prayers are with you, and your son, to find his way home again, soon.
Debbie, am sure it's a sunshine day in your neck of the woods as you are thinking gardening and memory garden..what did you end up purchasing?? Do not overdo or you'll be paying for it tomorrow..
Susan, hurrah, you'll be soaking again..better than what you thought getting it operational! Do you still have the lace for sale? Change realtor?
You are always sooo busy on the weekends, how you can find time to soak in the hot tub is beyond me..I put a hot tub in the basement when I was on the lake, I'd be walking in after work undressing as I took each step..sooo loved it! Greg and Melanie had one put in next to th pool last year, think they use it more than the pool
Well I did accomplish a bit today but not as much as I should/could have..really should have gone back to home depot for 1 more cedar bu no energy . Just know tomorrow when I drive in they will be sold out..wish I could buy enough to surround the entire lot line..until the greenery comes I am disgusted with how some neighbors keep thei yards, gues if I purchase 10 cedars a year by the time I'm ready for old age home new owners won't have to look it!
Can't you tell I have a headache again so I'm miserable as can be..can't even stand myself today lol
Betty, when do you see your Dr. for your headaches?
Sounds like you need a nap, and icepack?
Not until mid May LindaKay..if we have high 50's today can just imagine how hot it is there..how is your dad doing? And your fingers, swelling gone down any?
Not really a nap or I won't sleep all night so already in my jammies, covered up with rag quilt here on the couch watching young ones playing road hockey.
Kathy was here for a bit, think my dozing off and/or holding my head had her leave.
Fingers are still swollen and sore. I keep them in icepacks.
It is 102 right now, and supposed to reach 106! That is too hot!
Surely you can't get any work outside done? Sewing?
I have 2 more blocks almost done for the sway, no pattern for these, just playing, perhaps as it is suppose to rain tomorrow I'll finish them..here I was citing and all of a sudden I thought gee whizz louise you have an accuquilt so out it came lol
Jeff just called, cleaning his truck as he's taking the boys to a drive in tonight, says you need clean windows in order to see out!
Can't believe laying here and looking ou at the trees on front lawn how the opening of the leaves have progressed, buds opening as I type..
Wonder if I can con one of the hockey kids dor a pepsi to go pick up French fries for me lol
Nope, not outside. Inside watching drag racing on tv with hubby. I have not tried to do nay sewing yet withnthis finger, but I may try to this week.
Trees are so pretty when they bud out! Ours have been out for several months now.
Oak and maple trees, nice at this time of year but not so in the fall when it takes days to rake them up
Hope your favorite driver wins!
Thank you all for your prayers and concern. They found Joe and he is well. He is going to seek help for his stress. Thank God. BEV
Bev, that is wonderful news! Thanks for letting us knows is OK!
(((Bev)))) Such wonderful news, and I know a big stress relief for you. No matter how old our babies are....we worry so much about them.
My Carrie is on a trip to Florida with a friend....Carrie is afraid of heights. She is NOT the best swimmer and has always been afraid of sharks.
Guess what she did today....this is the Gulf of Mexico. She is on the left. SO very proud of her, and she is so proud of herself.
Bev, Glad your son is OK. Sounds like hard times for him. I hope things turn around for him.
Elf, Worried about you. Hope you get a good diagnosis so you can get some treatment.
Linda, Worried about you, too. Wish your hand would get better.
We have been having a good time with JR. I had him to the Book Store this morning and Ric took him to the Skate Park this afternoon while I worked.
Still having trouble getting out to do the gardens. Either working or it's raining. Yard does look pretty good but I wish I could at least get all the beds completely cleaned up.
Here is a pic of JR, Ric took it at the Skate Park today.
Oh Debbie, How great for your daughter to expand her limits. You are right to be proud of her. I'm sending a BIG THUMBS UP to her.
Hello To All !
Oh BEV ! That makes me so glad.... they found Joe... I hope he gets some help and also so you won't have another worry on your plate.. Wrote down "Lee Pickles" in a note to myself. I love pickles so shoudl remember that Daylily !
Dianne... Can't wait to try you recipes ! Love the Rhubarb sour idea... hope you are done with bad storms for a while...I'd love the spanok-stuff... I LOVE Feta and spinach !
Shirley... I'll always think of you and Tubby when I see the pink Hibiscus bloom. I am SO Happy you will stay with us... ((HUGS))) Knowing you and knowing Tubby has made me a better person... both so strong....
Elf - I am SO glad your Alabama family are okay. MIne too... my Aunt Cleo (92) lives in Jasper, and all around there are the family I named my son for... and the reunions that are held every 2 years....
I have some land in Sulligent that I never got to see until last year... Wonder how it has fared...
I so hope you get the answer to the health concerns... Your Lotus and Hostas, etc. seem very happy and have given us some new growth already !.....
Betty - I am glad you are finally able to begin work on the outside... I know you've been ready to ! I would think cedar/cypress are pretty fast growing... How neat that Jeff has found a drive in...
Judy - I love your turquoise sundress! I think the last wedding I attended was my own...so I suppose we are all pretty excited to have a wedding to attend ! Funny think niece caught the bouquet at my wedding ... 9 years ago... she was 13 ! Love your post above... "Super Mom".... Thunder ... Congrats to your DS !!!
Susan - so glad your hot tub was fixed and a better deal than you thought. YES ! We want scottish pics !
Debbie - don't know if I'm more excited that Carrie is at the Gulf or that she tried parasailing...Just knowing she is near my favorite beach makes me happy... and I'm sure you too... Holly - JR looks like a PRO at the Skate park !
Waving to LK, Laura, Crissy !
I did go to the car show today... joined the Model A Club. Ran Errands and spent way more time at Mall than I ever woudl want to... lost my keys... retraced my steps and found in a shoe store a few minutes before the Mall closed. I did get to spend time with DS and his GF... treated them to dinner and enjoyed that....
Hugs,
Mary
Mary I was at a car show today also! "The Child" and I ventured out to a mall...she really needs shoes for work. There was a "Street machien" show, all old cars which had been restored....some Vettes, hot rods, from the 40's and up to new ones with some "extra power".
Mary, it is amazing knowing my daughter is walking on the same beaches I did...same road I road....and I just wish I was there. AND for her overcoming those fears, major proud of that. I know she is walking a little taller.
Well, I am not feeling to well tonight and could really use some ginger ale. My stomach is making so much noise the dog growled at it!!! The cat even got up and moved. DH picked up some chicken/apple sausages for dinner...not the same brand I usually get. But I swore I tasted peppers. NO, there are NO peppers I am told. Well, dug the package out of the trash....yep, ground green peppers....AND soy. Double no no. SO, I had tums....but I think it is going to be a long night.
"the child" is on her way home from work....so will go to bed when I know she is home safe. Shane is staying night at a friends...it is game night.
Sweet dreams everyone
Debbie
Bev I am so glad Joe has been located and will be receiving some help. You must have been out of your mind with worry!
Shirley thinking of you tonight. Make sure you take good care of yourself both physically and emotionally these next few days.Remember we are all here supporting you every step of the way.
Dianne
Bev - so very glad Joe is safe and sound, and getting help he needs for stress relief
Just got home from my DH's bowling banquet - much, much better venue than last year (they had it at a pub...... we left it after 3/4 of an hour and went to our joint bowling banquet).
We were winners - won a $25 gift cert for Boston Pizza, and a queen-sized comforter. We needed/wanted one, so it's perfect. however...... it was not our personal choice of pattern, all swirls and stuff in reds and aqua. Looked more 60's or 70's style. BUT we have about 22 yards of burgundy material and will cover it, so it's perfect. Will have enough for both sides (other side is same colour in pinstripes of red and aqua) and enough for pillow cases to go with it too! So, it's all good!
Oh, and my DH won $50 for 2 sets of prizes with his team - good, eh?
Our hot tub.... the service guy said he'd turned on the motor, and the heater, and my DH checked to see if it were set high enough, but didn't notice that the heater wasn't turned on. When we left, the tub was up to 54F, and now it's 62F - certainly not hot enough to enjoy tonight, so he's now turned it on, and we'll be able to enjoy it tomorrow......
I wasn't dancing at the bowling windup tonight - knee still isn't at full strength and I still hobble a bit - it gets tired and strained if I do too much just yet. They even had karaoke and I didn't do that either LOL
Bev, big sigh of relief here..hope things get better for your son...times are so hard every where, and much harder for some...I will keep him in my thoughts....
Shirley very pleased to know you will be "staying on" with us, I have come to admire you much.....more big hugs coming your way....we will all be with you in one way or another on Monday Morning........
Judy, I feel the need for a fire...butttttt we are in a burn ban right now...guess some sweet grass and sage in the abalone shell will have to suffice for now...
I will be sending good thoughts and love to Y'all through the air waves with the smoke.......
I thought to go to the greenhouse today and buy my seasonal red hibiscus (this year I will be thinking of Tubby when I get it), but didn't have time (spent most of day at home, with the service guys looking after our hot tub.... and then went to DH's bowling windup tonight). I'll get the hibiscus tomorrow afternoon.
Thunder - it's been a long time since I've seen a sweet grass ceremony - would love to be able to join you sometime......
(((((((Shirley)))))))))) just because....... and I've also grown to love and respect you for the beautiful human being you are. Lean on us alot as you need to right now, and any ole time in the future you want to. I've always felt that the first 6 months people are aware with you of your loss and then they seem to drift away from thinking about it. I also realize that there are a lot of "firsts" that will be happening for you - 1st time seeing friends that don't even know he was ill, and things like anniversaries, etc. We're here for all your firsts and your worsts.
Please feel very free to talk to us about anything you're feeling (heck - we each of us do the same with you and everyone one else !! LOL )
Teenagers. UGH......
??Mary??
Good morning, rain is a coming, perhaps it can wait a few hours so I can make it to town and get that cedar, let's hope!!
Oh Debbie, cannot believe Carrie was parasailing ..she doesn't do things in half measures does she!! Like start with climbing a latter..yep, can just see her walking inches taller..sure hope you weren't I'll all night..lordy you got to check out absolutely all contents of food if they make you that ill..
Susan, good winnings..all around fun day for you..got to love it! Maybe put the comforter on the bed, few complimentary pieces and live with it for a few days, you might not want to change it..
Thunder, hope you got to do have your fire however small it had to be..hard to imagine you having a fire band when everything is so wet here.has your son started his first shift ? What a difference it will make in his life, feeling he's contributing to the household.
Mary you are one step closer to getting your hot rod on the road, organization members might just have parts you can get for a good price!
Bev, so relieved that you finally heard from Joe, bet you slept like a babe last night having that worry behind you.
Think Judy should wear her turquoise dress as well.
Holly hope you can get to work in the gardens today..JR is adorable
Nothing like spending a day with grandpa!!
Morning!
I can say I finally got some sleep last night, even though I don't feel it. the GD from Wis changed my picture on the computer when it opens from Tubby's Mom's pic. to his. If I just hit in the right place it looks like he just winked at me. It's is so cute and he has this devilish look in his eyes. I know I will make it through this time and it will not always be easy, but with God's help and one step at a time I will be fine. The numbness I feel will go away at sometime. I will be talking to him (Tubby) as I proceed and feel him with me at all times.
Bev I'm so glad and thankful that they found Joe. With all our prayers and the help that is out there we wish him the best. It will still be a long road to haul, but if he gets the right help he will be okay. I'm thankful that it is one less thing for you to worry about.
I want you to know that you all will be with me Monday at 10 in my heart and thoughts of all the love we have felt from all of you. Thank you.
Please have a good day everyone and may you be blessed with sunshine and warmth.
shirley
Good morning everyone. The sun is shining here this morning and I'm smiling away with it. I'll be on and off here for the next week as my daughter and her hubby take off to the Bahamas. They are both part of a wedding party and that's where the wedding is being held. I'm really happy for them as they have never really had a honeymoon themselves. Norm and I will be staying at their house so the boys routine with school etc isn't disrupted.
I bought a beautiful pot of tulips yesterday to plant tomorrow morning. After I drop Sean at school, I'll come back here to "be" with all of you. I call them "Tubby's Tulips" and they are a very bright red!!! I don't seem to have much luck with hibiscus and I know these will do well.
I'm just waving today so I can shower and go find out my instructions for childcare from my daughter. I just smile and yes her to death. I think she forgets I was a Mom with boys too.
But I love her to pieces anyway...heehee..
