think all of our hearts are with Shirley this morning, keep checking the clock but I think her 10 is my 11a.m. - regardless I shall have my time of silence at both chimes..
Best/Worse/What did I learn today? Chat with friends..
I just googled Tubby and I found his very very nice obit!
http://fremonttribune.com/news/local/obituaries/article_f0bb7444-7273-11e0-9808-001cc4c03286.html
TUBBY:
God looked around his garden And He found an empty place. And then He looked down upon the earth,And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you,And lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew you were in pain,He knew that you would neverGet well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, And the hills were hard to climb, So He closed your weary eyelids,And whispered"Peace be thine." It broke our hearts to lose you. But you didn't go alone, For part of us went with you,The day God called you home.
If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.
Good Morning!!
Dianne I contacted them too the morning after he passed. I sent them a link of Tubby's obit.
brb...
LOL Judy I think we posted the same obit! Oh well, if I were to take the time to read everything before I start posting certain things I'll miss everything!
I stayed up to watch President Obama speak, but couldn't sleep anyway, anyone got a boat? We had over 5" of rain the night before last, were supposed to get another 3" during the night last night, and expecting another 5" today.
((((((((((((((SHIRLEY)))))))))))))))))
Thunder, like my temps as well, 60 is perfect spring weather to be outside preparing the gardens..I do that as well, love knowing what my dg friends will have for weather..any calls yet re orientation??? sure taking their time, could have had a full week paycheck by now..lol
Mary, better to have less Miracle Grow than too much..I thought I'd be kind to my planters a few years ago and burnt/killed them...that was not good! Yes, late night last night and tonight it's our elections so will surely have to stay up and see who wins..
This morning I was up early and finished another swap block..hoping to do another tonight..MUST have them all ready to ship when I cross over to USA on the 19th..
Paul and his wife Wilena were in this morning and both said they cannot believe how well I look, so pills are definately helping!
Crissy, I'll loan you the Foxy Lady, she's on drydock right now so easily transported to you.
Laura, sure hope you get your computer repaired shortly..we miss you..
morning coffee sure was tasty..
Been thinking of Shirley all morning, do hope Tubby's family have minded their 'p's and q's' out of respect for Tubby..
Good Betty!! I cannot believe how well you look too!! LOL
Here guys...
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1177590/
I am running late as I worked this morning but I too am with you in thoughts and prayers.
How very odd, think Tubby posted on occasion on the Sweet Interruption thread and yet they only make reference to that thread and not that he's been with us for many years...hmmm is odd indeed..
Go tell them Betty.
Betty I have an ongoing email regarding Tubby so I just asked Melody to add this thread onto it since he did visit both, but this one much more often.
Well Shirley I went out and did my civic duty and voted in the Canadain election this mornining. Hate to think that people like Tubby served to help us keep our rights and we do not honour their efforts by following through with our part.
Was right there with you Shirley - did have my red wellies on as it was raining so hard here but didn't think the two of you would mind in the least. Did ya feel Stormy's very gentle nose bump on your leg? He too wanted you to know he was right beside you giving you strength and support. Hole is dug for Tubby's memorial plant but it is waaaay too cold and wet here to do so today. I will let you know Shirley the date and time I do it so you can share in our love and respect that we have for you both.SIncerely hope Tubby's family gave you the respect and support you so deserve. Tubby was one lucky guy to have met you!
Still pouring rain, my headache is ramping up big time so think I will have a little lay down.
BBL
Dianne
Thanks Crissy and Judy for your help in getting Tubby's thread going in the Memory Garden.
Dianne
Oh your welcome!
Just got a call from Ann, life is not getting any easier for her or Mike.
Mike is now in Penetanguishene in Pallative Care.
Last night Ann got a call from Toronto asking her to go to the hospital as Mike's mom is dying. Very difficult decision for Ann..Mike is an only child and she's torn between being there with her MIL or being with Mike..feels guilty but should not..
Does not want to tell Mike his mom is dying because it would serve what purpose???
She called the Toronto Funeral home as arrangements had been made about 10 years ago for her MIL..wanted to know how she could change the arrangements, of course as Mike is the only child he must sign for any changes...lordy/lordy does no person ever not stick to rules/regulations when it's common sense? so she's having them send documents in hopes of putting them with some other papers and have Mike sign without his not really understanding what is happening at this moment...I almost think a month or so ago when Mike dropped into see her on his visit to the cancer clinic that she saw how unwell he was and has just stopped fighting for her life..
Then last night Melissa their daughter was on her way home and broke down..car needs major repairs..NOT the time for more stress but it never seems to end..
Ann asked me once again, what did they ever do that was so wrong that would have this happen to them...answer is..nothing..Lord works in mysterious ways...
So prayers for my friends please...
Shirley, Ann said her thoughts are with you as you walk this journey!!!
Awe Betty, so sorry to hear about Mike not doing well, as well as his Mother. Such a hard ecision to make. How far is it where his Mother is? Can they move her closer, so Ann will not thave to travel so much? Sending prayers to Mike, Ann and MIL!
Bev, how are you doing today? Any pretty flowers to post today?
LindaKay, 100 miles away, and no, she's on her last breathe so no they cannot move her..
How did you make out today..
Almost time to head home..musn't forget to vote..
Just taking it easy today. I go tomorrow and get the stitches removed from my knee, and I am going to demand to know whats going on with my finger.
Oh Betty it never ends does it. Many thoughts and prayers going out to Ann and her family.
Yes LK, demand is the right word because they don't like to divulge information if they feel that it's nothing or they can't find it. ARGH!
LindaKay, Greg should have you as a mom, you have the patience of Jobe, now it's time as you say to demand that it be checked further..any news from hotel insurance...don't be patient with them either.
Crissy did tell her they are in our prayers..felt so badly for her, world is closing in..
Did my civic duty, went and voted now will know the results by midnight I would think!
Bev, it always makes my day seeing your photo's..you ave no ode a how often they ar on my front page! Have you been talking to your son?? Do hope he's feeling better..such a worry for you, and yes, everything seems to come at once
Hope Shirley is resting!
Thanks for the beautiful flowers Bev! They are beautiful.
Betty, what are you all voting on today?
My thoughts are with you all.
I worked this morning and was home by 1:00. After a little rest and relaxation plus a nice pain pill. I got outside to work in the gardens. It was so nice. Got a couple of beds cleaned, finally planted all the pansies. Ric came out and cleaned and organized my potting shed for me. It was a catch all this winter. He found 13 pairs of gloves. LOL I dug up some plants for the plant swaps I will be attending in a few weeks. We both cleaned up the driveway area which also becomes a bit of a dump area. It all looks pretty good right now.
LindaKay, it's Canada's 41st federal election casting our votes for 308 members of the House of Commons in Parliament and Prime Minister (same election as when you vote in a President)
Bev, I would imagine he needs a bit of time..doesn't matter how old they are we sure do worry! Were you able to play in the gardens today?
Holly, doesn't take long to accumulate a fair amount of garbage..easier collecting then letting go..we have a big item pick up week coming in June for our region, great opportunity to put what we don't want at the curb, often items are gone before pick up lol...13 pairs of gloves?? Omg how did you ever end up with that many.
Kyle came to visit for a few hours, just left, didn't have supper and it's kind of late to do so now, maybe a sandwich and coffee that way my moving around just might keep me up for the election results
Wonder if the girls have any wine left for tonight's night shift??
Mine was mostly small stuff just a lot of it. A recycle bin full of cans. We take those to the recylce center and get a few $$ for them, several pots that were left out to over winter. Some with good plants some that didn't make it. The frames for my living wreaths, several 5 gal buckets, a wheel barrow full of branches and a couple of saw horses. A lot of leaves that needed raked up. That area seems to fill up with leaves. I want it too look nice but it is a utility area. The Quince bush is really putting on a show right now.
Oh wow, I have a quincy bush as well, should go out front in the morning to see if it's survived, lordy take a look at the size of yours! Mine is about 2' and is 2 years old, perhaps it's a miniature. Should really move it into back gardens, might do better. Does sound as though you accomplished much today!
Eyes are closing, might have to wait for election results come morning.
Hello To All !
Hope you get your computer issues resolved Laura ! Know that can be aggravating. LK - did you get the rain you were expecting? So glad I watered yesterday... no rain yet here... Crissy - Thank you so much for posting Tubby's obit...
Betty - well you are probably right... I was doubling up on Miracle Gro as LK does... yesterday and half the way through I started thinking to myself... "Hm... well LK's soil is very sandy...and not at all like ours here... wonder if this is really a good idea"... well one overdose shouldn't hurt anything...we rarely fertilize anything anyway.....trial & error right ?
Bev those hostas are so pretty. I am now growing hostas for the first time.. THANKS to the swap/Elf.... They seem to be doing well... they seem as though they spread is this how folks share them so often?
Oh Betty - so sad for Mike & Ann. You know my Grandma was in a nursing home... no major health issues that I remember but she wasn't really 'with us' so never knew if she understood when we visited that we were there. Mom had been in chemo for a few months and right after she got home Grandma passed. It was at her Funeral in March that Mom tried to tell me that she had not long. And her Alpha Dog passed that January as well. It was a horrible year however I always felt that both Grandma and Don Don (Alpha dog) 'knew' and were going before her to help her transition.....
Somehow took comfort in that....
Holly.... what a difference in weather... my pansies are failing and they aren't in nurseries anymore.... it was my first year to plant them ! They were great... will definitely plant them again.... They seemed to spread and put out a lot of new plants... was that my imagination? Tell me what you are swapping! You look so organized... what are those flowers?
I'll pop back in a bit... maybe find another bottle of vino for Betty since she has to stay up for election results...
Hugs,
Mary
(((((HUGS)))))))) Shirley
Hi all, it has been a VERY long day today. I had PT at 8:30 this morning.
Then, I went and grabbed a Pepsi....and headed to the lake. Watched the Canadian Geese, the rain.....and thought of our dear Tubby and Shirley, saying a few prayers and remembering a few chuckles he had left us to remember.
I had a few errands and another appt. at 1:00....then rushed home and had to take Axl to the vet. He is set up for a neutre now on the 16th of May...I need to start playing the lottery!!
Lots of hugs to all of you, I "think" I am home tomorrow....but until I find my calendar....I am NOT sure!
Debbie
LOL Betty, That huge monster of a Quince bush is about 30 years old and I really let it get out of control. Last year I tackled it reducing the girth but not the height. I will post more pics of it and the flower bed that I developed under it. Of course the Quince suckers will continue to be an issue in that bed.
Mary, There are two swaps in the Mid-Atlantic Region one in Va and another one in North Pa. plus we will have our HGHA picnic which we always take plants to give away on the raffle table.
This is my swap list I will have some of all these to take to the swaps plus a few that I haven't though of yet. Some I won't take unless someone shows an interest in them.

Wow Holly... that is amazing to me.. The sheer number of what you have to share ! Also very interesting to see the plants I'm familiar with (and wondering how I would share them) and also see the plants I've never heard of...
I suppose that's the neat thing about gardening....there is SO much to learn !
You are so right Mary, an elderly gardening friend when I was a kid always used to say to me that he learned something new out in the garden every day. At the time I thought ya right but now I know he was right.
Awww Holly a Quince tree I haven't seen a live one since my parents moved from the old farmhouse into a Seniors Apartment Building. Would love to see more pics when you have time. They do have a dandy sucker/root system don't they?
Even though we hydro did come back on Friday we have lost power every day since for at least 2 - 3 hours. Of course it usually happens when you are cooking dinner, showering or starting a load of wash. There are still several areas that are without hydro to the north of us so consider myself lucky.
There is a T and L storm moving in from the west so I best shut down. Please, please let us have some sun this week!!!!!
Dianne
Oh Dianne ! so sorry you are having hydro power trouble ! (I'm speaking Canadian now... If were speaking USA I'd say Electric LOL).....
Yes - I do learn something new everyday in the garden.... Of course it might be something like... "I should water this more often" but yes that is learning! LOL.......
I've never heard of a Quince tree NOR seen a Quince tree... another wonder from another climate.....
I pray we have rain and you have SUN! We call that "Murphy's Law" when you need rain and get sun... take a shower and lose power... etc....
REALLY WISH I could take a walk with you tomorrow morning.. I know it would do me some good.....
HUGS!
Mary
Evening all, i soon had better get some sleep, election now over, some major wins, some major upsets and outcome as I had predicted!! Cannot go to bed without listening to the speeches, all so heartfelt.
Holly, I think I did not plant the Quince in appropriate location, have it as a shrub in front of the B&B sign, yikes, if it decides to grow I'd be in trouble so I'll transplant along with the lilac trees for secret garden and hope it prospers. Noticed tonight that the boomerang lilac trees survived..will be nice to see how many times the continuous bloom actually blooms.
I'm with Mary, you sure have a variety on pretties to share and some
of which I've never heard of!! Mayapples and perilla?? Will have to research them in the morning, Would love to get a few more comfry plants ..hoping weather will cooperate this weekend so I can divide and transplant.
Dianne, can hear the rumbling off in the distance, major fronts just
seem to miss us..feel for you without power.
Synda - those are some pretty trees! We have Crepe Myrtles here... I'll not plant any because they are so ..popular...and everywhere...
Wow - If I could get a quince to grow ...would I not be the talk of the neighborhood ! LOL
((HUGS)) Betty hope your votes were the ones who made it in office...
I'll try to go to bed... but if I don't make it...I'll pop back on here in a jiffy...
HUGS,
Mary
