Coffee Break #57

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I'm one of those they say "Look at all those lovely blue viens...how do we choose??"

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Oh I like people with those big veins, push the blood backwards and watch it fill back in

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Mine run horizontal.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

I have great veins and bad blood...ironoverload....they can't use mine which is just as well I'm a big fainter!

I will take your blood but dont even touch mine. No love for needles

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

My brother has the iron overload condition. Has to be drained once in awhile. There is a name for it,cant remeber of course.

East Bridgewater, MA

Yep, we need a new technology to replace needles...they are primative !!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Maybe chelation, Jo? Sets off metal detectors?!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

last time i gave blood was to the tick i had............................

East Bridgewater, MA

Ticks are the lowest form of life on the planet, except for mosquitoes.

(Just an opinion.)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No, lawyers are.

East Bridgewater, MA

Then you are in agreement with some guy named William Shakespeare.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Never heard of him. Rapper?

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Jen, I don't know why the rush.

I've got good veins, also. All set to give blood early Easter morning.

East Bridgewater, MA

Shakespeare isn't a rapper, just dapper.

Because he's always quoting Shakespeare, trying to impress people in the coffee houses.

Thomaston, CT

Thank you for donating blood, folks....my DH was a blood donor as well......I was anemic most of my life....took B12 shots.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

This story of the woman driving the van with three kids into the Hudson affected my ability to sleep last night.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Very troubling, indeed. The boy who managed to get out will likely have nightmares forever.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Just terrible...

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Very upsetting, poor child will need lots of love and counseling now.

South Hamilton, MA

Mentally ill people can certainly be a danger to themselves as well as to others. At least the one youngster knew how to work the power windos & could get out. Poor youngster is going to have some tough times, but certainly glad he could get out.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I have not heard any report that she had a history of mental illness. Did they say that? It seems that society always takes that approach when a woman does something to her children. When a man does, they just want to kill him. Same with teachers and students. Not right.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Some people should just not be allowed to breed

South Hamilton, MA

She may have not had a history, but only people with an inability to cope with life do that sort of thing. One can kill oneself, but I think the urge to protect the children is pretty strong.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Iron Overload is called Hemochromatosis.

I missed the suicide/van story and glad I did...so sad

Thomaston, CT

Heard it on the 12:00 news....said it happened after a domestic dispute.....don't care if she killed herself, but how could she do that to the kids? Awful....

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

People do it, incredibly, to get back in the worst way, at the spouse, girl/boyfriend.

Kids (have none) but in my book its death till you part, even with animals. How people can just do what they like, have thier time of pleasure and then decide to part? I think sometimes peoples morals, are not connecting with their brain.

Think about it - Husbands son.
Married 2 kids, then divorced.
Met another woman, had 1 kid, now split up and done. That kid will never have a whole family togather and will be an only child.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just heard that woman used to live in the next town over.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I'm not angry at the mother, she was obviously in a lot of pain and in her mind had no way out and no hope.
There's a lot of people in bad situations out there, some of them have a lower tolerance than others and reach the breaking point. Once that happens they no longer think within the guidelines of society or any type of moral law. They become dangerous, desperate, and may not even realize what they are doing. One wrong decision at that time could ruin their life. - In this case it ended life.
It's very unfortunate for everyone involved, although it's not an unusual occurrence.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Just heard from someone in the area that the mother was just 25. It's all too sad.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

According to neighbors, there was no history of depression or anything. She was attentive to her kids and they frequently played outside with the other kids. She balanced work with home life. It appears to me as another sad case of someone being so dependent on another that they will go to extremes.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

or maybe we'll find out that she didn't actually drive the van into the river herself

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

??? And someone put her behind the wheel?

Hallowell, ME

It happens all the time on TV Victor! (NCIS, CSI, etc)

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Knocked her out, put it in drive, pushed it into the water

South Hamilton, MA

The surviving boy is old enough to say what happened.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Other horrible story is the Yale student whose hair got caught in a lathe, pulling her in and choking her. Goodness!! Having worked closely with large rotating machinery for 17 years, I was always acutely aware of stuff like that. My tie was a potential killer and I treated it as such.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I saw that...no one in the lab with her at the time???

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Don't know. Did not want to read it. You just have to cover your hair. Crazy.
