Good morning all (yes it's still morning for me!)
Shirley - glad to hear Tubby had a good night's rest (why DO you call him Tubby - from the pic Betty posted, he didn't look tubby at all!)
Diane - no crutches for me anymore. I suppose the Glucosamine MSM, the vitaminD, and the Flax Seed Oil I take all the time may have something to do with my knee's quick recovery. That, and I don't suppose it was that bad of a sprain. Did hurt quite a bit at the beginning, bu then my DH doesn't take falls too seriously - thinks I should just "get on with it". He doesn't seem to realize how fragile parts of me are (or maybe not, seeing as how I healed so quickly).
I bruise easily and badly, twist my knee and hips easily, but then I seem to get over these things. Worst thing for me was the star-shaped burn I got in Sept. Lasted for a long time.... still have the visible scar.
Best/Worse/What did I learn Today? Visit with friends..
Susan that's funny you should ask. When Terry was born his sisters (there are 4) thought he was so cute they called him Tubby and the name stuck. He is named after his Father William, but his Dad always went by Bill that he goes by Terry around here. His middle name is Terrance. That guy has never had an ounce of fat on him. He has never been a big eater and has always worked hard. Some of his buddies call him Tits and that came from them. The one time I answered the phone after moving in with him, the person on the other end asked to talk to Tubby, I was just about ready to tell them they had the wrong number when I remembered the story he told me. I never made that mistake again.
Am gonna hang the comforter out on the line to freshen and finish dusting and then vacum. I scrubbed the floors upstairs, not the best but better than they were. Doing some laundry and then I may sit down and finish up the taxes. It has really warmed up here, no wonder they are predicting rain. Always happens when it gets too warm too fast.
Hope everyone is having a great day and get all those things done that you want. will be back later.
hahahahaha Shirley - that is so funny about how Tubby got his name hahahahaha
Everyone - here is a great link - The Bible on one page:
http://www.jrsbible.info/bible.htm
Well, looks like a nice day, so gonna get some errands done, and maybe run into work and do some quick paperwork (I have to do some reimbursement claims for myself so I get some $$ back from things I've bought for the company!)
Finally back in, haven't stopped since I last posted so Having had my bath, jammies on and calling it a day/night isn't being lazy..
Pumped out all the swamp water from the pond, that takes about 3 hours, then letting the sunshine dry the pond liner and getting all the leaves and guck out another hour or so..
Greg and Melanie dropped in, all having the samy idea, household cleaning and purging..as the pulled in I was trying to figure out how to fix the hose..needed it for refill of the pond..I didnt roll it up properly and the plowman caught it and cut it in half..trek managed to fix it, then he put a gel seat on my new bike, wanted him to put the old one on the truck for landfill sight but Melanie thought if I put it near the roadside someone might take it..still there!
Cathy and then Kyle dropped in while I was IN the pond getting last of slime out..both were dressed like they were off to Sunday mass so the watched while I continued with pond...lordy you have no idea what I smell like, another bath just might be needed to get the froggie smell off of me!
So in between the pond I managed to rake about 3/4 of thevgarden that surrounds it, pleased with that..patio sets out on 3 decks, canvas not on gazebo but the metal set put in place, table and chair set on the patio and I wonder why I'm tired and fighting a headache, rest assured I deserve it!!!
Think Kyle grabbed my camera while I was in the pond, will check photo's later and post, I'm sure I look the worse for wear..
Trying to make sure I don't fall asleep yet as I still have water filling the pond..wouldn't that be something, wake up in the morning and it still be running
Want to respond to you all but can't right at this minute...sorry!
Sometimes we wonder,
'What did I do to deserve this?' or
'Why did God have to do this to me?'
Here is a wonderful explanation!
A daughter is telling her Mother how everything
is going wrong, she's failing algebra, her boyfriend
broke up with her and her best friend is moving away.
Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and
asks her daughter if she would like a snack, and the
daughter says, 'Absolutely Mom, I love your cake.'
'Here, have some cooking oil,' her Mother offers.
'Yuck' says her daughter.
'How about a couple raw eggs?' 'Gross, Mom!'
'Would you like some flour then?
Or maybe baking soda?'
'Mom, those are all yucky!'
To which the mother replies:
'Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves.
But when they are put together in the
right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake! '
God works the same way. Many times we wonder why
He would let us go through such bad and difficult
times. But God knows that when He puts these things
all in His order, they always work for good! We just
have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all
make something wonderful!
God is crazy about you.
He sends you flowers every spring and
a sunrise every morning.
Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen.
He can live anywhere in the universe,
and He chose your heart.
If you like this, send this on
to the people you really care about.
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are
here we might as well dance!
Thanks guys, I have been dealing with this bad knee for a couple of years. I was having trouble with it about 5 or 6 years ago and turns out it was a torn meniscus. So after the surgery to repair it the surgeon told me I have a lot of arthritis in that knee. I get synvisc shots every couple of years that helps. I was planing on doing a good bit of walking this summer anyway as I would like to walk a half marathon at the end of the summer. Besides all my gardening doesn't do my knee any good either. I am hoping that losing a little weight will help the knee, getting a few lbs off of it will be a good thing.
Here is a pic of me on my last dive trip my dive partner took this pic, just before I swam up that canyon.
Omg how exciting as that..how long have you been doing it..yikes keep thinking panic attack!
LindaKay, glad you enjoyed your outing..love hobby lobby...did you buy out Hancock fabrics? Did they have any Christmas fabric?
Love the outback, just a bit too spicy though for me but I do try their flowering inion..you know they opened one in Barrie about 5 years ago but had to close it..guess canadiens weren't ready for it yet.
Crissy and Mary if we're getting in into the 60's this weekend I can't imagine how hot it is in your neck of the woods today!
Susan, wonderful that the weather is co operating and you can play in the garden..going to check the link
Shirley how did your day go?
No pop in the house, dying for one, hate to get dressed to go to the store..will have to watch for a neighbors kiddies to pass by so I ask if
they'll go get me a bottle
Betty, I left a little in the store. LOL! No Christmas fabrics. It was 100 yesterday, and today. Too hot for this early in the year!
Holly, that looks like fun, but I don't think I could do that. Take care of that knee.
What a picture, Lord sure made everything pretty, both on the surface and lands below..must just take your breath away! Thanks for sharing it's beauty!
Decided to brush my hair, throw a coat on, not that it's needed, nice outside and went to get pop and treated myself to a chocolate bar...I earned it today!
Several houses down the street, can see their backyard from my backyard, at least until the trees have leaves have the biggest fire going, music playing and about 30 enjoying the evening..
Walked near the pond, how I've missed listening to the sound of water..the two floating solar lights that I forgot to take inside this past winter are changing colors making such a pretty sight..almost wanted to sit on the bench and enjoy!
LindaKay, we've finished our nasty winter, stuck inside the majority of time, now were out and you are in? What types of fabric did you buy and for which project..don't think they have a Hancock fabric store in Buffalo..will have to research where the closest one is to me..do you find their prices compare with Joann's?
Sat down a few minutes ago and as always I go searching for obituary section, is that an old person thing??? Lol. Anyway my favorite teacher Miss Boyer was buried, had I checked it sooner I'd certainly have gone..she and her sister taught me for about 4 years, each summer they'd go for upgrading and there they'd be, in class waiting for us to arrive 1st day of school..finally we were thrilled to be in high school, these two sisters knew us too well...when I wasn't doing as I should Miss Boyer in her most stern French would call out,
'E L I Z A B E T! Knew I was in trouble when I heard that name...
1st day of high school all were happy as could be, new teachers, not, they now taught home economics and phased..darts and more darts, but you know, they were the best teachers one could have had...she was 92. Never married, looked after her mom until she died..very committed individual
Think I'll try this sleep thing. Lol
I don't get to go diving that often so a few years ago I volunteered as a diver at an Aquarium a few hours drive from here.I was a volunteer for almost 3 years. It was a lot of fun and a great way to keep my skills in practice. We cleaned the inside of the Ocean Realm and Shark Realm tanks the windows and walk thru tunnel in the Shark Realm, did a couple of shows. Hand fed the stingrays, assisted the biologists and did minor repairs. There are 28 sharks in the Shark Realm. Plus a couple of barracuda and sawfish. This is the top of the tank a behind the scenes look at where the divers get into the tank. You can see one of the sharks cruising by as the divers are getting ready to enter the tank. It is in the lower right corner and it will come within a foot of those divers.
Hello To All !
Crissy - did you finish everything on your list today ? Thank you Susan for the bible "on one page"... I will figure out how to save it so I can reference...
Shirley LOL re: Tubby's name... I do remember when he first was posting on here.. and made it plain that it wasn't due to his size... how fitting though...
Dad is the same... I did call, next weekend he is headed to his 55th High School reunion... I joked with him was he wearing his shirt from when he was 16... I remember growing up he would joke that he could still wear that same shirt....
Betty - Thank you for the poem... I like that a lot... wow you sure got a lot done today... Temps today I think reached 86* or so ? I do love the heat though... it doesn't bother me... Sorry to hear of your teacher... I think it was so special that you were able to remember so much about her... shows she has lived on in you and the memories you hold.
I know you've been too busy to check out "Seedtossers"... I thought about the book today... we're supposed to bring a 'door prize' to the Round Up... (or are we Kris?) anyway since I'm not crafty... maybe I'll just bring another copy of that book with me... anyway.....let me know when you've finished it and I'll explain why I had to send it to you ! :o)
Holly those pics are fascinating. you have so much more courage than I.... I couldn't do those things... but glad you can and then share those pics with us. Is the coral sharp so that it would cut you if you touched it ?
I'll pop back in a bit. got quite a bit done today... stuff potted for Round Up. Hope I did it right.... be my luck to bring dead plants to a Round Up huh? they may not like that one bit.... Hubby tried to help but ... Hmmmm.....
Hugs,
Mary
Yes, Coral is sharp and there is also fire coral which stings if you brush up against it. Some of it is also pretty delicate and you need to be careful. Breaking off a small piece might not seem like much but it could have taken 5 or 10 years for that piece to grow. There are a lot of different types of corals.
Good Morning Everyone!
Well I know it's early but I thought I'd get up and check on Tubby. He was up late and then sick and he's sleeping comfortable right now so must stay quiet.
The DD from Wis. got here yesterday and then last night the neighbor gal up the road stopped in and so we were visiting. Tubby couldn't sleep with all the chatter. I think he got to warm as it was 83* yesterday. I'm hoping he will sleep in this morning. My brother and wife from Lincoln will be here later this morning to visit while DD is here. The DD has her interview at 10:30 Mon. AM and then will head back to Wis. It was good to see her even if it was a short visit.
Just wanted to drop in for a minute and say Hi and wish you all a great day. I'll go back and catch up on everything later.
Shirley
Goodmorning to all.
Shirley you are up and going early.I hope you enjoy your brothers visit.
Hoping to go out and plant some sunflowers. The kids really like to plant those seeds as the flowers grow really fast.
Need more coffee.
I hope everyone has a great day and some sunshine.
Good Morning Shirley and Laura!
Shirley hope you and Tubby enjoy your visitors today.
Grounds still frozen here Laura but at least my Spring bulbs are starting to emerge. Ahhhhh some colour other than white out there.
Smells like Spring though..... ugh!
BBL
Dianne
Morning all, you sure are early birds!
Excited to see thar it is not raining, at least not so far..going to have my bath then go go groceries, gee I love that the grocery store in town is open 24/7 then hoping that I can get the last of the corner area around the pond raked and I will call outdoor work done for the day, the other 4 gardens can wait for the next sunshine day..Dianne I'm amazed with how the snow just left and how much greenery there is..be some time before I see flowers as I don't do many bulbs.
Family all wanted me to join them in a bike ride yesterday and I said I wasn't up to it, if they go today think I'll join in..Greg is so like his dad, when I said I couldn't aster he put the gel sear on the bike he said perhaps I could set the bike in the garden and grow flowers on it! His way of saying gardening can wait! Lol
Shirley, glad you have family with you today and sure hope the job interview goes well..wouldn't that be something for her to move in your neck of the woods...how's the granddaughter doing, is she with them or has she moved, keep thinking she was the granddaughter who wanted to move to Florida
Holly, so loving the photo's..How's the legs today?
Mary so you ARE going to the roundup? Wow wee...can you take photos for us! Enjoy
Well, best I not linger too long, this couch is awfully inviting!
Reminds me, have a few photo's to download and post..
See you on a break
Good Morning All !
YES yes yes.... it's really me ! I promise! I know! It's early but it's really me here ! LOL
Good Morning Shirley & Tubby... I am so glad that you are getting to see some folks. If the DD gets the job is this the one who has the DGD that stayed with you a time ago? Will DD stay with you and help at least for a while ?
Shirley - can you come do my hair today? had to cancel my appt last week when sick. Thank you !
Morning Laura - wish we could get sunflowers to grow ! They are supposed to grow easy here but DD tried and they didn't make it... maybe try again.... Dianne - So glad you are getting some flowers ! What bulbs are coming out this time of year ? Are we taking our walk this morning ? was so peaceful yesterday...
Betty- that's so neat that you can walk to so much from your house ! LOL... you'll have to trick Greg and set up the Bike with a bunch of potted plants at the doorway.
Betty - IF I go to the RU... then I'll leave by myself after work, after loading up the plants... 6p Friday is ambitious. Drive 5 hourse to Crestview FL... spend night in a hotel alone... (checking in at 11pm ?) Then get up early (for me) check out and drive 40 minutes to a State Park and hope I find everyone.
Yes ... So far I'm planning to go. "WWBD" "What would Betty do" ??? Why... she'd go ! right! That's what Betty would do ! (Thats my mantra)......
Any goading, prodding, etc. is accepted..... No excuses when I have the plants all separated and ready,,, huh !?!?
Hugs,
Mary
PS: another battle in my mind is that I'll be so close to family but no time to visit. I will feel guilty. However I want to get home Sunday... for the Hibiscus show. Since "I'm a Hibiscus club member now" I'll get another 'free' hibiscus to take home... tell me I'll be fine... see family at the graduation / wedding in May........
Mary you are indeed up early! Grandma would have asked 'did you pee the bed?' lol What do you have planned that has you up so early?
What would Betty say? She would say 'you can only do so much!'
Spring is such a busy time of year..
Got a few piles of leaves burning and I can feel drops of rain so I'm inside setting up to sew..ooohhhh thundering, so guess it's inside for me.
At this time of year posting photos of gardens does the area no justice...but here goes
dirty smelly job but someone has to do it!
Morning all, spent all day yesterday working in the yard with the kids. Gryphon spent the night, Goober went home. We also worked on goobers house. Added a backporch using scrap lumber, next we need to paint, goober has decided to paint it purple!!!!!!!!
Today gryphon will help his papa till the vegtable garden. I will be supervising and cleaning a garden.
Mary,,, goober and I are excited to meet you this upcoming weekend. Meeting goober is the best reason to come.
Huggs to everyone,,,
Bye the way this is gryphon and I wrote this,,,,PEACE
Looking nice Betty. I just love the bench. Hi all. BEV
Betty, Your pond is wonderful. Love the bench and other garden art. Can't wait to see it this summer with all the flowers in bloom.
Gryphon wants to make this!!
http://www.etsy.com/listing/57556839/sea-dragon-garden-sculpture
Check out the price!!! WOwzer!!
Betty, I want one of those. So small yet has just enough for traveling!! Think of where I could go with that!!
Morning everyone. Look at all the early birds! Love the ponds.
Betty, I just picked up some fabrics I thought were pretty, no specific projects in mind. Prices are all about the same here. Most fabrics are about $9.00 per yard, but you can find some nices ones on sale for about $4.00 - $6.00 per yard.
Peace to you too Gryphon!
Kris, I bet you can do that dragon? Wow is right for $1900.00!!!
Good morning!!
LOL Shirley about Tubby's name, what a great story!
Betty it's 20 degrees above normal here, we hit 91 yesterday, our normal is 71.
WOW Holly that is awesome, I don't have the guts to dive but Dave used to do it until he lost his ear because he went too deep for too long and came up way too fast.
Mary I didn't get anything done that I was going to do yesterday, fiddle farted around too long and then it was too hot. After I type this I'm going out and getting r done before it gets too hot again. We're supposed to have storms in the middle of the night, they're thinking around 3am they're supposed to come through.
Mary I would go to the RU too, it's so worth it and you will have so much fun! It doesn't matter how you pot things up for RU's, people here put plants in Styrofoam cups and everything else that will hold a little dirt and a plant that either has a hole in the bottom for drainage or that you can punch a hole in the bottom for drainage. The plants just needs to go in the ground within a few days of bringing them home. And you will be fine not seeing family until May. Stop finding stuff to worry about. I was all worried when I went to my first RU but I didn't have any plants to take so I didn't have that problem, I sure brought a slew home though!
Betty Greg just doesn't understand that getting that done is important because 1. you have to get it done before plants start coming up, and 2. now it's done!! Looks great!!
Well I'm going to grab a shower and head out to the yard! Have a great day everyone!!
Omg Crissy, something must be brewing to be that hot!
no wonder you all are up so early..got to have things done before noon hour
Betty , cute little camper...we keep saying we are gonna get one to pull with the bike!!! but at this point I think I would prefer one of those campers that the bike can go into the back!!
more room, so I can pick up my GD on the way to where ever!!!! and I need space for my sewing machine, a day without sewing and I go into "withdrawals" LOL ^_^
for some reason I did not realize your pond was quite so big....I love it ! and your metal flowers are lovely enough to carry you through till the real ones bloom..
I have barely done anything in my yard..too much pollen It is finally starting to slow down, all the storms we had helped wash much of it away, Hubby has been "supervising" while # 3 son is picking up the brush / moss etc from the storms, and doing some very much needed pruning..when that all gets done I get to supervise weed pulling....problem is I can not resist joining in...DH says "the boys gotta earn his keep" He would actually do it all and let me just sit and watch...but I don't mind it...just have to do in small doses, so I don't kill my hips, and annoy the lungs (asthma).
we have two small ponds, want to move them some how and incorporate into one, just can't decide how to do it yet.....DH will get a "brainstorm" in July when it is over 100 out there !!! good thing I love the heat!!
I am gonna have a bowl of oatmeal, any body want to join me?? then I am gonna sew, sew , sew....
Kris, that dragon is "cool" sure bet you can figure something out to make one...I have a little alligator something like that......it is a little bit dimensional , but nothing like that!!! was in the 90's here yesterday...
Storming hard, Sailor can't seem to settle down with the thundering going on, kitties, well they are sleeping, comfy as can be, me, I'm sewing but must be moving in slow-motion, almost finished my first block, yikes, think I need 16... Lol
LindaKay, I find you cotton a better quality than ours..nice to have a stash of different fabrics on hand, seems every time I want to start a project I never have the correct color or pattern..have to start being less picky!
Kris, at that price for the dragon you had best be creative..they do sell the alligator one here, think nursery sells it for around $200.
Thunder, these campers are meant to be pulled by a motorcycle...I soooo can see someone ridding for the day and setting up camp..kids would love it ..laughing to myself, I could bring sewing machine, little table would hold it!!
You've so many orange trees that I can see it would take forever and a day to prune..when I think of you now I see me drive up your drive, trees on the right, welcoming searing area in front of the house...prettiest little town nearby..good looking neighbor lol. So cool gabbing on dg once you've been to your homes...
As for the pond, want a secondary one that falls off from the one shown but if I start digging please remind me of the amount of workmit takes come spring!!
Have a pot of chicken noodle soup on..I'll debone the breasts and should be ready to eat by noon..should really call Greg and family over for spaghetti supper but a quiet night after being busy all weekend is also calling..could say, come and eat and leave runt after...aren't I terrible!
1 down, think it's 15 more to go!
Guess it's time to move us over...come visit and chat awhile
Come join us...chatting withc friends
