Hello To All !

Okay - I'm back to the land of the living LOL....

Dianne - Good think you're quick with the tonque ! LOL... Saved the dentist a step or two... ((HUGS)) Dianne, Betty, Crissy and all....

HAHA ! Betty... I suppose should have clarified... since My Mommy not here... my DG Mommies were Just Perfect ! You keep yours LOL... hard to believe she glosses right over your MRI never even asking why... just complains... So sad...
I'm afraid I would react just like you re: MRI... I am claustrophobic... knock on wood I won't need one for a long time. You'll let us know results as soon as you find out right !?! So sorry it was a horrible experience. Wonder if they would do a little at a time if you should need one again... I mean 4 minutes ? wow
Kris - love the froggies... Thunder... so nice spending time with sis ! I always love looking at photo albums... If I didn't make them around here no one would. Hm. gives me an idea of another project for today.
Boss said not to worry. take today off... nice !
Deb - / Sis... Thanks gal and Judy too... Yes - I'll pay better attention in future... Can you drop me off some soup too Deb ? Thanks gal ! Knew you would ! I'm sure it's hard to stand by while DD having flu.... but agree... you can't catch it now ....either...
Bev - LOVE your pics... I'll try to send a few. I Love paths in a garden. I have one. It's the "Path of Least Resistance" I named it a long time ago after DH's parenting style... ROFLOL.....

Judy - Community Garden.. how neat ! Reminds me... Betty - did you glance at that book yet ?

Okay short story long... When I cut finger, they put me on Keflex, by 3/30... that wasn't working so switched to Clindamycin and Sulfa ...broke out in hives last Tuesday.... Wednesday morning 4/6... urgent care said I was allergic to those... switched me to Doxycycl. and gave me cort shot and hydroxizine an antihistamine to get rid of rash / help me sleep.

Apparently I'm one of these folks who can't take antihistamines... spent previous 2 nights in and out of bed... restless no sleep. So Doc yesterday gave me Ambien and last night finally got some sleep....But boy did I feel bad yesterday... MUCH better today Thank you so mystery solved...
Judy - Good idea about the Garden gloves... Will try to... I've been using one on left hand but both would be best...

So now gonna spend the day to catchup and I'll check back in a bit...

Hugs
Mary

Clock watching here, 2 more hours left then homeward bound..in working terms that 3 Monk (45 minute shows without commercials) lol hard job but somebody has to do it!

Bev, 75 miles north of St. Louis you say, hmmm wonder when we leave knowing we have a full day to put in which route we take, will have to go back to my planning map..last time think Debbie and I stopped in (after the corn field maze) on our way to see Judy and Liz..

Glad Mildred will be coming to spend the day with you Debbie, should be nice so you'll be able to sit outside and both can get ideas on spring planting. It's that time of year I that I get all my gardening books out and spend more time going through oooh'ing and ahhh'ing than working in mine. Last night I took out that beautiful rose bible that Laura from Australia sent me, keep dreaming one day I'll have a few roses planted in a garden name 'Laura' sure do miss her...

So much fun Judy to have a mile long list of 'to do's' and by weekend's end crossing them all off as done. Really makes you feel you've accomplished much!

Mary, why is it that we find out we have allergies when we most want meds? Glad you are back on the road of recovery and wonderful that your boss got you to stay home one more day...love the deep purple iris..wouldn't it be the coolest thing to have a garden tour..maybe late spring we'll all take at least 12 photo's of our gardens, post them and share a tea/sweet together while walking visually through each others gardens! Bought tickets for the big $50 million dollar draw tonight..if I win the big one, pack your bags because we'll all be on an rv doing just that..hope they pick my numbers! As for the book Mary, I did start to read it, between calls and so I've set it down..will get it read this weekend though!

Kris, there are such treasures hidden throughout Bevs gardens, it is just so pretty!! Little bunnies under a bush, little fairies dancing, special pieces of marble and such. I just loved it!

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello All !

Betty - Love the garden tour idea ! Yes - suppose its a good thing to find out now what allergic to... made a note of it for the future....
Bev - I would LOVE your garden... with little hidden treasures !

Kris - I'm sure I'd LOVE to have your garden as well ! so neat to see you on the other blog... hope I can make it...

Shirley - now I know taxes are fun... but poke in and tell us how you are doing today ! ((HUGS))

Just took a few pics in the backyard I'd thought I'd share...

We call this the "Left Ear" ... Deb & LK - You'll see that Lupine I planted way back when. Ya'll have all seen the hibiscus (its in a pot) wish you could see the nuns orchid Dad gave me... so I'll send another pic......

Bev you can separate hostas at any time?

Mary I'm allergic to Sulfa VERY BAD, I get a high fever and the pukies almost immediately after taking it. I had a dr tell me not too long ago that there are more people allergic to Sulfa than any other drug.

AAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Bev, Your garden is just beautiful. Love it. I would enjoy seeing more pictures.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Yes I have even moved Iris and daylilies at different times.
Hey girls. There is a good dayliliy deal on here by deejay for boxes for postage, I ordered 1 box but if any of you do it please tell them that I sent you and they will send me a bonus plant for getting you hooked LOL BEV

Thumbnail by dragonfly62

Darts, can't get any sent across the border, no fun at all!!

Your gardens are indeed lovely Bev..even we find ours overwhelming when we go through last years photo's..that Bunny is just too cute, cute until he stops listening and starts eating the hostas

I left work and picked up the trailer, Dave did a fantastic job but forgot a window in the very back, told him I'd let him get caught up in his spring work and then I'd drop the cover off for a few days to have the extra one put in..I'm impressed with his work...

You are all going to laugh..he has had different people drop off their boats and all interested in the mini travel trailer..when I brought it to him I explained that I wanted one to tow behind my car, because it is such a small car the trailer had to be small, like the one they make for motorcycles...guess he didn't hear my entire story because he's been
telling everyone about this older motorcycle mamma who is going to roam the countryside...think he was disappointed when I told him NOT, goes behind my car! Lol

I must be getting smarter in my old age, got home and started to rake the top garden, could have continued on to a few more but thought to myself, self, no sense trying to do it all in one day and not be able to move to or row so put the wheel barrel, clippers and rake away and came in..now i get to look through pattern books to see which blocks I want to sew for the quilt block exchange once I have my bath.

Holly, you have the weekend off right? Did you find it hard getting I to a work routine? You'll so enjoy your days off.

Crissy, I have a reaction to penicillin ..happened once ..might have been a fluke so don't take it any longer.

Mary are the lupine mini lupine version, our are so tall! Do you do a lot of container gardening? Think I might try my luck at doing so this
year

Better go have my bath before it's ice cold

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Sorry Betty, I wish you could get them up there. HUGS BEV
All my fish died this winter so am going to make a waterfall and daylily garden out of this. This is what it will look like. All the daylilies will be purple and lavender. What do you think??

Thumbnail by dragonfly62
Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Here are my plans. This is what we will see looking straight off the front porch across the drive, but you know where the pond is.

Thumbnail by dragonfly62
Victoria Harbour, ON

That will be so nice Bev..love a waterfall..here it's difficult to find flat rocks so when I went pickin 200 rocks they had to be rou d and manageable, so I've a water spray feature..perhaps one year I'll order flat ones and a backhoe for a few hours!

You are feeling much better Bev now that you are out in the sunshine?

Just took something, in my jammies, rag quilt making me feel cozy so off I go to see if I might rest an hour or so...

Be back after

Baton Rouge, LA

Hello All !

Bev - That will be lovely ! Too bad about the fishies... Is that a Sugar Kettle pond? Hubby just found a Sugar Kettle and set up a pond in the front yard... It's still a very new project but something he's always wanted. Now he's looking for water lilies... they are $38 each here ! I'm hoping to bring him back a water plant if I get to that Round Up.

Betty - I had never heard of /seen lupine until I tripped upon those in the nursery back in.. (Feb?) I doubt they grow much here or large because I've never seen them... this one has unfortunately been stepped on by Belle a few times... still teaching her to "Walk Around" the flower beds... LOL... I'd guess they get taller in cooler climates? I've never tried container gardening but maybe this year... Was dead set against pots of plants in the yard.. but hubby is training me well.. now I am starting to 'get it'.... What is it about motorcycles ? I think it's so cool you're planning to trailer it at ALL !!!! LOL

Crissy - guess we have that in common... I had never been allergic to anything before... .other than dander & such... nothing to cause such crazy reactions ! Live and learn !

Just pulled a "Dianne".... almost lost a crown flossing. "Caught it".. wow I can't wait for a day when NOTHING happens ! No dentist on Saturday to replace it... now what !?!?!

Hugs,
Mary

Verona, ON

Oh Mary I Sooooooo know how you feel!!! Doc my dentist told me to use either Crazy Glue (but I wouldn't if I were you) or sugar free gum. I just left my crown off until he could fit me in but that is fine if you live in the bush like me and the only breathing things you see each day are your DH and animals. If you can live with it until Mon don't sweat it...... just turn up at your dentist's door when he opens on Mon morning. I have done that a few times over the last 40 years and he has never turned me away even if it is just a cosmetic repair until he can fix it permanently.Huge hugs sweetie! This has definitely not been your week.
D

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

No the big one is the 7ft round pond that the fish were in and the second is a 4ft round pond that I will put under the waterfall rock. I will poke holes for drainage in the big one and fill it in with soil. The boot is the big rock for the water to go over.

Thanks So much Dianne For the advice ! It's such a bother... not too noticable... but another thing to 'take care of'... not good missing 3 days of work this week ! UGH ! nope ... not 'my' week at all !

Bev - I 'get' it now... that is so creative ! I'd have never thought of something like that....Can you show us pics of your progress ? I'd love to show to DH....

Hugs,
Mary

Wow what a beautiful garden!! and those flowers are "to die for"!!! What colours!

Well, at least our snow is almost gone, so I can think about cleaning out our garden and dream about planting!

Susan how are you getting along - still not using the crutches?
Coffee's perked. Fresh, still warm from the oven Blueberry Muffins for you to try.
Going to start the wash and see if that will not be too noisey, as DH is still asleep.

Wow you guys are up and going early.
Have a good day a work Thunder.
Dianne love the blueberry muffins.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Betty not too sure about the job. I do like the work but the time away is hard. Especially now with all the gardening I have to do. I knew what I was getting into and a couple of people asked me are you sure you want to do this. My legs are bothering me, standing walking for hours on the concrete floor and my bad knee is acting up as well. So when I get home I usually sit for a little pop a few pills and prop them up before running out to the garden. Next week they have me scheduled for 7-4 Tue-Fri.I told them that was more hours than I wanted. So the week after they have me scheduled on Sun for 8 hrs then 1-6 for 4 week days that will give me 28 hours much better for me. That will be really nice as I can get out in the gardens before I have to go to work.

Verona, ON

Holly the going in for 1 pm sure sounds good to me. You are right you can get out into your garden and get done the things you want and that way they won't prey on your mind while at work. Plus once you get home you don't have to rush out and immediately working away at your own garden. Just think of all the $$$s you will have for plants PLUS you get first look at most of the stock.
We save our Canadain Tire gas money all year and then use that to buy some of the flowers for the garden. While it isn't actually free it sure seems like it when you are picking out your plants. Well its official I am turning the largest veggie bed into Cut Flower Garden, ordered some of the bulbs today. I am sure I can convince DH that a few maters will look just fine in that garden.lol
Time for Stormy and I to strike out for our morning walk. We go for a big trek and then I come back and take Quill on a much abbreviated one. Stormy always tags along so they have some fun together sniffing all the new smells.
Couldnt have said it better Thunder - hope you spend the day with someone you love and doing something you love. Couldn't think of anything better!!
Mary, how is your tooth this morning? Does it hurt? If that tooth had a root canal you should be OK for no pain.
Dianne

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Dianne, Sounds like you have a wonderful plan for that garden. I love growing flowers in our Veggie garden. Make it so productive and beautiful.
It is nice I do get to see the plants as they come in off the truck and find out about the specials. Sent Ric out to pick up his Veggie plants they had the $!.68 veggie cell pkgs on sale for $.99 and then he got his %10 off of that.
I am planing on using most of the $$ I earn on my Scuba diving trip this fall. I thought it would be a nice way to pay for it instead of taking the $$ out of our regular budget.

Verona, ON

Nice Holly - good thinking!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, have been up since 6am, didn't want to sit on the chesterfield and post invade I decided to put my head down and get lazy!

Sooo cold this morning, can't go play outside until at least 10am so I'm ready, floors all washed, spray waxed..dusting done..spaghetti sause on..now I can play outside without feeling guilty!

Have to get the pond pump out, maybe check to see what kind of meshing I have to build a catch all before leaves/dirt get to the scrap pump, not sure that is the best idea as I worry it might starve the pump of water...

Don't you find listening to everyone that you just want to get out and get at it..for me it's rushing it a bit as the snow has just left but there is potential as I can see a few host as peeking out of the ground!

Mary, we are going to have to lock you in the house, well, maybe the garden for the next week or so, don't want to get you into more trouble..Dianne has some great fix um ups until Monday..yikes, guess you have to call in as you'll have to come in late..

When I was in buffalo last weekend I purchased a book on container gardening and included in with each photo it shows you the planting design..will try a few of those..really should have purchased a few pots while I was there, so much cheaper...

Dianne, I'm with you, when I bought my bike a few weeks ago at Canadian tire I used my value dollars and felt that I'd really gotten a bargoon!!

Holly, you don't want to continue working if you have problems with your legs and knees bother you or you'll not be well enough for your scuba diving trip Regardless if you have the $$$. Maybe you can be the replacement cover staff only should someone call in sick?

Thunder, going to do just that..a day in the gardens is just what I need..already I've taken the winter cover off back deck door..looking out I can see the garden I raked, much of the garden art stored away..was thinking a few pieces could come out..something to do while emptying the pond..just looking outside makes me want to smile..

Bev, the purpose of the drilled holes is for what?? So the upper pond unit flow slowly into the lower one?? Do you have a pump so you can take water from the 4' unit to the 7' pond?

Last night I checked where I could dig for secondary pond, although I hand dug my pond which is about 12'wide x 18' wide and 4' deep I hit pay dirt, all sand but I don't know that I'd find the same just next to it..I had dug through old septic system and it was sand, sand, sand! Might have to call my plowman who does landscaping to come and dig it out, have a large boulder that has made it to the surface in my drive way, before I take a muffler off I should have it done so wouldn't be charged 2 trips for him bringing his backhoe..

Shirley, how are you doing this morning? Tubby have a good night? Guess you have you to do list sitting on the table while waiting for daybreak

Susan, glad you will be able to finally get outside..just think won't be man more months and you'll be camping!
Barb, out of the sewing room, come chat!

Well I've sat long enough, much more and my energy will be gone, got to push myself today..

Ohhh just looked outside and the little 'tiny mite' trailer looks so cute attached to the back of my vehicle...mini set up..might just have to take a photo! Doesn't take much to make me happy..pooh have to take a photo of the new garden rusted art piece I bought last weekend, blends in so well you will never know it's in the garden once the flowers are up..just got to love walking along and there sits a garden piece of art that grabs your attention!

Enjoy your morning, be back on my next break, going to take plenty, work at slow speed and enjoy without not being so sore tomorrow that I'll be on the couch

How was the walk with the pooches Dianne? Hope you don't come across skunks..they are out like crazy here..

This time. Am off. Lol

Goodness, you all have been busy! We had a great trip, and I got to stop by hancock fabrics, and hobby lobby! Plus we went to Outback steakhouse for dinner, we had shrimp and steak!
Hope everyone has a great Saturday!

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Good Morning All!

We've been up for awhile. I've Tubby all bathed and in his recliner, he is sleeping now. I just finished changing his bedding and will wash later. He had a fairly good night, was wake a few times. I started to dust the floors. It's foggy out this morning, but is to clear a bit and get up to 80* today. Chance of rain later thru the weekend. I'll dust and vacum and hopefully will be done before DD gets here.

Yesterday Tubby's sis from town and his brother that is visiting from New Mexico came out to see him for awhile. Tubby doesn't talk much and won't let me tell any of them his has halted all treatment. I'm not going to say anything to his girls unless they happen to come out. Maybe then it will hit home as to how sick he really is. I just want them to understand his wishes will be honored and I'm not going against that. I know that his side of family would only come and hang around with a million questions and he doesn't want that. It's just hard to explain all that has gone on and what drives him crazy. Family has always meant alot to him, but I know he has been disappointed in them so many times. They come through and won't take time out to just say hi and check on him, it hurts. The sad thing is there was nothing he wouldn't do for any of them.

Betty I'm thinking I will make spaghetti for supper. I have some french bread I need to use so I'll make some garlic bread also. I'm gonna take some rolls out of the freezer for tomorrow morning. I know that my brother and wife are coming down tomorrow for a short visit. Those ponds are alot of work getting them ready, but they are sure nice when done. Take at easy doing it.

Holly that cement is very hard on the knees and back. Do take it easy so you'll be able to go on your trip. I know in a way I'll hate it when the day comes and I can work full time as I've gotten spoiled only doing so many hours in a month.

Thunder thanks for the coffee and muffins.

I know I didn't touch on alot of you guys, but I think of you anyways. My mind just really isn't with it today. Just hope you all have a great day and enjoy the week end and may the sun shine for all.

BBL Shirely

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Putting holes for drainage in the big pond and fill with soil and plant with daylilies and the small pond down inside big one and waterfall will run all the time behind the daylilies. HUGS BEV

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty I agree, I wouldn't ever use Penicillin again, why risk it?

Bev that pond and garden is going to be gorgeous!!

Mary it's funny, I've never been allergic to anything but Sulfa drugs! OH NO!! Just as long as it doesn't hurt I'd do exactly what Dianne says!

Shirley big big big big big hugs sweetie, glad Tubby had a good nights sleep. I wish he would let you tell them, or him tell them himself, but if he doesn't want them to know there's nothing you can do about that.

I got up at 8, stripped the bed, got my work clothes in the laundry, bedding and whites are next, watching the weather and it's going to be 90* here today, our normal temp is 71*. Insane. So I'm going to get out and plant some Peony's. I have no idea where I'm going to put them, but I bet I find a place somewhere. May have to dig up other plants to make room, maybe the bee balm will have to go, I'm not too fond of that stuff anyway, draws too many bumble bees.

Baton Rouge, LA

Good Morning All !

yes - It's really me ! not an imposter! Maybe I'll turn over a new leaf and start getting up early now. :o)

Good to see you Shirley ! Bless you for standing by Tubby's wishes. I hope he gets to see a lot of family and I hope and mean only if that is a good thing for both of you ! no need to touch on everyone... we are just glad you popped in. Tubby reminds me of my Dad. Think I'll call Dad today... see it's early morning (to me I know.. not to you all !) and you've already motivated me to do something good.....
Please check back when you can and tell us how YOU are doing ! (((HUGS)))

Dianne - ((HUGS)) Thankfully I'm having no pain... just favoring the area ... got to 'forget' it's 'not' there.... LOL ! What a peaceful morning. Wish I were on your walks with you... bet it's a countryside like I've never seen before !

LK - I LOVE Outback ! Yum ! Betty - I'm so glad you are beginning to be able to get outside... I can hear the happiness and plans spinning around in your head. Another pond, etc. Maybe you can plan a mini-overnight trip just to "Bless" the new camper and work out any kinks... figure out what needs you may have ? Remember... I've got a large side yard just 'awaitin' for you !
Holly - sounds like a good plan... maybe if you only worked short hours per day your knees wouldn't get aggravated ? They may need to sit you down at the cash register for a while. Love the idea of paying vacations in advance.... I've enjoyed mine so much more when I'm not tallying up expenses in my head. Wish I were brave enough to scuba dive... can you take pics for us when you go ?

Dianne - wondering what cut flowers you will use? Although they are probably not any I've heard of ? Maybe ?

Laura - meant to say I think the Salad Bar idea at school is wonderful ! Hope they get plenty of volunteers and the kids appreciate it ! I remember when I 'fed' the band... I'd pick up a couple large bags of salad and fixin's it was fairly cheap and the kids really seemed to like the freshness... I remember one kid got a large salad... said he'd never had a salad before !!!

Hubs just went to Walmart... Yay ! he doesn't work today... I'll check back in a bit...

Will go call Dad.... not that I don't as often as I can... it's just he is painfully shy... but a good Dad....

Hugs,
Mary

Baton Rouge, LA

Crissy - we cross-posted ! Well Good Morning ! yes - I'll do as Dianne said.... you've gotten a LOT done already ! I did sheets yesterday...
but so clammy last night ... got up and changed PJ's in the middle of the night. maybe still getting over fever... Well I'd better catch up to Crissy..... She's the Younger sis so I have no excuse (although you ALL put me to shame !)

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Morning Mary!!! Yeah I usually make coffee and come in here first, but this morning I got the laundry separated and in the wash before I even made coffee!! Maybe cause it's so darn hot already and it's not supposed to be!!
