Best/Worse/What did I learn Today? Visit with friends..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dianne, thank goodness you didn't swallow, omg, that's a good news / bad news story..you might have gotten a brand new crown out of the deal. I love ceramic tile as well, did my kitchen on my own but find it's sooo hard on the legs when you have to stand for any amount of time

As for Ann, Tuesday night when she was over she was exhausted from crying at her therapist..she was planning yesterday to go and look at another funeral home then make a decision as to which she'll make appt. for.. Today Mike was having visitors, friends he worked with, tomorrow some family so she's been kept busy!

Not sure if you will get the weather they are calling for this weekend in your area but a high of 21C with chances of thunderstorms..that will all but clear away any snow that is lingering on..

If I'm feeling well enough I want to clean the pond and get the water feature working and perhaps the top on the gazebo..that alone would make me happy..do want to do some sewing as well so a mixture of both sun and rain would get me motivated..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

It's 75* and sunny and somewhat windy. I can't stand wind and we've had 5 days of it now.

Baton Rouge, LA

Dianne - not a good day at all. reaction to meds. I want my Mommy. DH coming home to try to talk me into another DR visit... I say no... they've already screwed me up. all for a cut on my thumb....

Verona, ON

Oh Mary this is awful....... is there a doc around that you can trust? Someone a friends goes to? I know it is pretty scary to have all of this coming down on you when you are such a healthy person. You will make the right decision about what to do, I know you will.
Dianne

Victoria Harbour, ON

Now what would you tell me Mary??? off to emergency right?? nothing worse than getting an infection, perhaps there is more going on..off you go!!! You've got lots of mommies here...we're not close but we are as close as the keyboard if you want to talk..not good!

Crissy, can't take the winds either, usually end up with a quick earache that takes forever to get rid of..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Mary that is very scary, be careful with it, it's not good!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh yuk, earaches are almost as bad as headaches and toothaches! The winds don't really do anything to me, I just don't like them.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Are you sure you want a 'mommy' Mary??? Sending you mine..

Haven't been able to reach mine in 4 or 5 days, started to wonder if they moved her knee surgery up, left numerous messages and a few minutes ago she cold, not sure what she wants to do..she's lost total of 35 lbs. since Christmas and doctor says nothing is wrong with her (got to be something) I think maybe the worry over having the knee surgery...

She says she's not well enough to go through the surgery, frightened that maybe she won't come out, what should she do..told her not to ask me, lordy I don't know what to say..told her if she's convinced that she's not well enough then call and cancel, she can always have it done on a later date..

We got talking about her having another MRI, maybe they'd find out why she is losing so much wait, in passing and just to see I said 'had one last night' told her in less than a week I had my appointment...so she says, how come so quick, told her doctor thought it needed to be done immediately soooo she told me all about her doctor, that he was going on vacation, not a good doctor etc.

SO laughing, never once said 'oh, are you not feeling well?' so will send her to you!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty taking the pain meds could be taking away her appetite and she's not eating. That pain med I'm assuming she's still on is some nasty nasty nasty stuff.

I think she should have another MRI as well, she's just full of excuses, isn't she?

Victoria Harbour, ON

I would say probably all the meds she's on..will call her tonight, didn't even think of that but likely that's the reason! She said she had Jim take her to emerge this afternoon but there is a 7hr. wait and as soon as she tells them why she's there they'll just tell her to go to her physician..catch 22

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Yup, it is a catch 22. Too sick to not go in but not sick enough to go in. Your poor mom!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Called mom, she's been taking percocet, read it, loss of appetite and weight loss are symptoms, called and told her, said her doctor said it would have nothing to do with her losing weight!!

So I've given her food for thought, or rather you have Cindy

Time to go,chat later!

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

OH!!!! My hostas are growing an inch an hour. Went out and raked off over half of them. The others will just have leaves inside. Just can't keep up. HUGS TO ALL BEV
This is "Dream Queen" last yr.

No wonder you can't keep up Bev with over 300 host as and all you lilies..won't hurt them if you leave them unraked a bit longer will it?

Sitting here with my jacket on, called the canvas man, was going to go pick up my camper tonight but he's not home, wife thought he'd be home any minute...then called my cousin Larry, it's his 61st birthday today..he and I were raised together..more my brother than my brothers..then called Cathy, wanted to drop off money for the raking she did last weekend and she's not home! so wanted to get all that behind me so tomorrow when I come home I can enjoy doing nothing but guess I might as well take my jacket off and enjoy what is left of the evening...

Must ask, which one of you did I send a black pendant with some gold on it?? Found the matching earrings and want to know who to send them to?

What do you all have planned this evening?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Afternoon everyone. I am in San Angelo for my back dr. Just a normal 3 moth follow-up for insurance. Betty, so glad you had your MRI, but wow, what an ordeal, hope you get the results soon.
It is supposed to be 101 Friday and saturday. Wow, can't wait till summer gets here!!! NOT!

300 HOSTAS???? WOWZER!!!,,lol. Makes my 25 to 30 look punny,,

Huggs to everyone!! Betty, MRI's do not bother me at all. Wierd huh??

Specxial hugs to Tubby and Ann's Mike!! Wish I was able to do more,, but a hug from an elf is a wonderful thing??

Thumbnail by
(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

Betty, sorry you had trouble with the MRI glad for you it is done now, how long till you hear the results?? I got the envelope / pattern...thanks much...if I ever get caught up on swaps and sewing, I am looking forward to making a few quilts with this designs..

big hugs (((((((((((((((( tubby & Shirley)))))))))))))))))))

Hey little elf....you best be taking it easy!!!!!!!

Mary hope you feel better fast. Deb, hope Shane feels better fast too...

I am sure I have missed something / someone hugs and love to Y'all...

Kyle and I went to see my sister today :) we have not seen each other in ages, it was a great visit !! we spent a few hours looking at photos from when we were kids, and from when our kids were little...Kyle got a kick outta some of the photo's of his Dad and I when we were first married.....yup very nice visit...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Nothing Thunder like spending a day reminiscing ..did you get to take home a few photo's..does your sister live far away? Mine lives about 100 miles away and it almost seems impossible to meet up! Glad you got the pattern packet..by the time I'm finished and have ironed out any problems I'll be able to share as you'll just be beginning!

Goodness Kris you are quick, froggies already planted..adorable! We were all so anxious for spring and most of us overdid and now paying for it!

LindaKay, will you get to spend the night..sure do hope the doctor says no change...can't believe it will be that hot for you so early in the year..bit too hot for me!

Lyndonville, NY

Thank you all for your "well wishes" for Shane. He made it to school today, has lots of homework....and said he is not feeling as much pain.
NOW, the oldest is sick with the flu...and she is home alone as her DH is still in Virginia. She went to the doctor, he gave her Tamiflu...but said she isn't to leave the house til at least Monday. She had a 102 temp. I wanted to pack a few things and go over....but she won't let me. Said she would lock the door and not let me in!!!

Betty, glad that MRI is over. I just had my first one WITHOUT medication. Usually have to take something beforehand...and this was the one time I needed it. Like you, they had me wedged in there with blankets so my shoulder wouldn't move. AND...with me being rather "fluffy" to begin with...wasn't much room at all.

Did you call your Doctor and tell him you had it done....so he will be calling/looking for the report??

Between your DM and the meds....and her upset about the dog being ill, she worries so much, no wonder she lost weight.

Mary...your SISTER here says....GET TO THE HOSPITAL or DOCTOR. When I got bit by a cat, about 10 years ago now....I ended up with nasty wound....had an allergic reaction to penicillan for the first time ever....and it was NOT fun. Do not mess around with this.
AND....soak your finger/hand in epsom salts if you can.

((((Tubby & Shirley))))) Sending hugs your way.

Bev, some hugs for you too...your Hostas are going to be so pretty!

Judy, you have been SO busy. I don't know how you do it all.

Thunder...you too see to be very busy. And Kris....with little Goober, who is so adorable.

Waving to Linda and Susan and everyone.

I had a full PT session this morning and am feeling it. I swear AJ takes pleasure in this! lol

Be back in a bit
Debbie

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Good Evening!

I thought I'd drop in a minute. I have been keeping up with the thread, but haven't felt like saying much. I worked outside for awhile. I have all the staples out of the fence, so will go out tomorrow if sunny and take it down. I can then proceed with pulling the volunter elm trees out. It'll be alot of in and out of the truck, but will be nice when done. It should fill up the burn hole quick. I repaired a cabinet I had in the bathroom downstairs. It started to rain this afternoon, nothing strong just light so I don't think we'll get ver much. I'll have to check the field tomorrow to make sure it's not to soft yet to get in there with the truck.

I called the rest of Tubby's Dr.'s today and informed them of his decision. They all said to call if I needed anything. They were all understanding. I decided I will tell his daughter's of his decision when they come for Easter. He doesn't want me to let the rest of his family know at least not now, maybe down the road. He is tucked in for the night.

Laura love the camper and the kids are darling. I'm sure they enjoy every minute of it. It's great when they can new friends along the way. Great fish, but I do believe it has some growing to do to be a keeper.

Betty am glad to hear you made it okay to your MRI, but sorry to hear you had such an experience. I just listen to Cty.Music and in no time it's over, but then I don't get claustiphopic. That's alot to pay for parking, is that what the hospital parking charges? I hope you do have good weather so you can work outside on your pond and stuff. That's too funny, send your Mom to Mary. I do hope your Mom gets to feeling better soon, when does she have her surgery? I'm sure the meds and worrying has taken a toll on her. Wish her the best.

Thunder glad you had a great visit and I don't know any kid that doesn't like to see photos of their parents when they were young. It was good for all and hopefully you can do it again soon.

Crissy I hope your callus remover works too. You they say when your feet hurt you hurt all over.

Mary I'm worried about your finger. I still think you should have used the peroxide, but maybe taking some Benadryl will help ease the discomfort and itchiness and rash. Let us know what you find out and do keep the finger clean.

Bev, OMG you have that many hostas. I'm envious of you. I'd love that, but I do plan on planting more. I'm just hoping that what I have come back after two years of neglect. I will slowly clean off each flower bed and try to straighten things up again and make it right so I don't have so many weeds to contend with.

Kris I love the frogs you got. They will be fun to set around. Enjoy and I know you'll think of who ever you got them from each time you look at them.

Dianne you were lucky you didn't swallow that cap and the Dr. was also. Wonder if he would've made a new one for you at his expense or make you wait till it pasted through. I know terrible thought, but they are not cheap.

LindaKay it is really getting warm in your neck of the woods. I hate to hear it's that hot already. I can take the heat, but I don't like the humidity we get, especially if there is no breeze to go with it.

Debbie how did the eye exam go? Sorry to hear it takes so long to get them in.

Barb where are you? Have you been busy quilting? Hope all is okay for you & Norm.

Sorry if I missed anyone, just hope that you all are doing okay also.

Well, I think I'll head downstairs and try to sleep. I'll call the DD in Wis. cand see if she is coming for the interview. Will check on you all tomorrow. God Bless and Sweet Dreams to all!

Shirley

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

good grief you ladies are chatty! I couldn't possibly read all you posted, so if I miss something important, my apologies in advance ^_^

Just about to go out to Choir Practice so will chat later!

Lyndonville, NY

Shirley, my eye doc is in his 30's maybe...yet he walks in and says "hey trouble". My reputation preceeds me! After hearing about me loosing the contact and a long discussion of him grounding me....new contact is ordered and he will do a "more thorough exam" when I can see what I am doing!! He said my right eye is a mess (sore irritated) from wearing an improper fitting contact....and said only to wear it when I absolutely need to drive.

I am so glad Tubbys doctors are helpful and understanding. That itself is part of the battle. Right now, you are Tubbys decisions are what is most important. If his daughter does call....you might want to mention he is "thinking he is tired of treatment" so it doesn't come as a big surprise when you tell her whats happening.

I am so darn hungry tonight and don't know why....might be stress.

Going to find something "healthy" to nibble on!

Sweet dreams to those turning in early, This was how foggy it was this morning....the lake I pass.

Evening passes quickly when you fall asleep lol, think quad sailor not waken me I'd have slept till morning..ever wake up and have to think and think what part of the week you are in! Was so hoping it was Friday night...

Debbie, don't blame you for being worried about th young lady, her being alone would certainly be a worry..will she listen to the doctor and stay in till Monday? It will be a lot of studying for Shane to catch up? When will final exams take place?

Shirley I'm with Debbie, broaching the subject with tubby's. Daughter might not br a bad idea..probably something she's aware that might happen but still will be hard..hard news to get for sure!

Will tubby's do house calls should he be required or is that a thing of the past? You've accomplished much today Shirley..know where you are coming from..if you don't stop for a second thoughts can't hit home! Just don't overdo, you need to rest as well!

Susan, sing the songs of angels..wish I had a voice!
Time to call it a night

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, he won't have finals until June. I believe April 15 is the start of "Spring/Easter" vacation. Will be home for a week.

Yes, Jeanna will listen to the doctor as she feels totally horrible. I had been running all morning, came home to a message on the machine ...she wanted me to take her to doctors as she didn't want to drive. Then called back with NO...don't come, you will get sick. Her "in laws" are in the house behind her...but they are useless. I will make a big pot of soup tomorrow and take over to her, even if I have to leave it on the step!

(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)

My sister is 80 - 85 miles away, with my crazy schedule it is hard to fine time to get over there...and now of course the high gas prices won't be any help....cost $74 dollars my last fill up !! YIKES

Lexington Park, MD

Goodmorning to all coffee is on.
Calling for a rainy day.
Off to volunteer at the kids school.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Hi all, Just got done reading all the news. Betty so sorry you had so much trouble with the MRI it definitely does bother some people. Loved your blow by blow description. Good for you not giving in to your fears and pushing thru.
Laura, That camper looks like a lot of fun.
Mary, Not to scare you but please follow up on that cut finger. Ric got a wood splinter under the nail cuticle. His finger got terribly infected. It took several courses of antibiotics and it has never been quite right since. Nothing to fool with.
Debbie glad Shane is feeling better.
Well I love the new job it is pretty physical, loading a lot of 40lb bags of grass seed, fertilizer and mulch for people. On my feet from the time I get there is taking a toll on my knee. If it doesn't settle down might need to see about another synvisc shot. I am on the run from the minute I get there barely get a chance to go to lunch. Been unloading and watering plants and helping customers. It does take a chunk of time out of my day. I must have been crazy to take on a job this time of year. The weather is getting nicer here and I did get out after work and clean up a few flower beds. The perennials are starting to emerge and I have tons of tiny new plants. Ric has been busy while I work. He has dug the ditch for the water line from the barn to the GH and picked up all the pipes and parts to put in the new water hydrant. My son is coming this weekend to plumb it up for us and Ric as moved on to the ditch for the electric line. It needs to go up to the house much farther than the water line but not near as deep. Once the electric line and water is finished next step is the foundation. He already has that dug out so it is just a mater of framing and pouring. Everyday we get closer to having the GH up and running. I have been busy every night after work either in the garden or doing something for the family. This weekend I'm not working but it is looking pretty busy.

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Morning! the coffee is about gone, but will gladly make some fresh so come on over. We didn't get alot of rain so hopefully I can work on the trees. I'm gonna go down and work on the taxes for awhile, I'm hoping I can get them done Mon. We'll check on ya all later, so have a great day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, heavy frost on the ground this morning so will appreciate the coffee Laura!

Frank giving weather on breakfast television, we will be having fantastic weather today, tomorrow but thunder storms rolling in on Sunday but that's ok, will need a rest by then..hoping to be out getting the pond up and running!

School sure has a gem in you! What's planned for today? Meant to ask yesterday how you found pulling the trailer on gas consumption ?
Will you make the best of it and go somewhere this weekend?

I am hoping that the canvas man is at the shop this afternoon so I can pick up the unit, then have to start making a list of things I need for it and not wait until the last minute! Have to decide on what mattress, air or memory foam ...

Debbie, in an emergency though, her inlaws would be helpful wouldn't they? That's quite a hike for you to drop off soup..but moms do that don't they? Don't know why i thought Shane would be out of school by end of April???

Thunder, that is close by but can see with schedules it's not easy to visit..Sharon has her show dogs (4) that she's always showing or training, then her daughter who is 18 and a handful has a lot of outside interests, music and acting, consequently add my schedule and no time for visiting..sad really!

Well, best I get moving, don't get up as early as I normally did and find it's up and out, don't like it so next week must try to get my act together

See you in a bit

Victoria Harbour, ON

Knew you would be up and at it Shirley, did Tubby have a good night?
Must feel nice to be out working in the dirt?

Mary, how are you feeling this morning, will you go to work, hoping not if you are running a temperature...

Just noticed behind the house across the street the man who gets his children every weekend just put up his trampoline..talk about a boggy? Sure sign that winter is gone! Who knows, maybe this weekend I will take off the winter covering on back deck..this is the 1st year with it being closed in..anxious to sit outside in the evenings with ought fighting off the mosquito's

Lexington Park, MD

The school my kids go to got a grant for a salad bar in the lunch room
So there is money for produce but not for employees to prep food.
So parents like myself go in and do what we can when we can.
School raising money yard sale this weekend.
We drive about 2 hours to camp and ok on gas so far.
I planted some rubarb hope it comes up.
Great day to all.
Be back later

Victoria Harbour, ON

Almost sure Laura that we don't have lunch room meals for our children..only provision is a place for children to eat their own home brought lunches. Do know recently they've changed the vending machines to milk and healthy juice products rather than pop..

On Fridays they bring in pizza!

Sounds like a health wise project.glad the moms come out to help..

Glad gas consumption isn't breaking the bank!

Time to leave..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Elfie, Bev's 300 hostas makes your 25-30 look puny, makes my 3 look puny!

Debbie I'd be worried about her too with that high of a fever, but she's right, the last thing you need to do is go over there when she is sick and get it yourself, then you have a good chance on giving it to Shane and everybody else. She'll be alright.

Betty air mattresses are nice as long as they don't go flat. LOL I can't sleep on a memory foam mattress because of my bone spurs in my back, I have to have something firm. You're getting this bad weather that we're going to be getting on Sunday too??? I'd say that is a HUGE front!!

That's great for the kids and the mom's Laura!! Glad there are mom's available to do it.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Been raking and burning and uncovering the daylilies and hostas and the Irises. It is wet today so will pay bills. HUGS TO ALL BEV
Just a small part of them

Love the photo Bev, you've got to be the Hosta Queen!!! Next you will tell us you know most of their names? yes? don't know how your gardeners do it...

Is the photo from this year Bev, if so can't believe how much growth you have already...most likely from last year right?

Paying bills is no fun..picking up my travel trailer this afternoon and there goes my allowance..lol..wonder if I can set it up in back yard and try it out..most likely I'd freeze to death..lol

Crissy, tempted to purchase a better one and if I only use it a few times a year it will last some time...thinking the problem with memory foam is if it gets damp and I pack it up it might get mold? not sure what to do!

Ames, NE(Zone 5b)

Bev absolutely love the picture, what a garden. Would love to visit and see all of them in person.

Betty the memory foam is great if you get a thick enough of one, and there should be no reason for it getting damp if it's inside. The air ones are great as they come in all sizes and thickness also. You probably don't need one bigger than a full or do you?

Holly I'm sure they keep you plenty busy. I think it would be a great job and interesting.

Debbie they are right, you don't need to go and catch anything. You've had enough already. Stay home and check on her by phone. Sorry to hear her IL's are no help.

Well I really have my nails clean as I just finished doing dishes. I'm gonna go start that dreaded paper work now.

Check later.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Yes I know most of the names of my daylilies and hostas. That was one of last yrs pics. The hostas are just barely up but won't be long.

Debbie, don't you remember these beautiful gardens and sitting on the deck overlooking them with Bev and Scotty..

OMG girls, you should see her gardens in person..so many trails and little areas..I fell in love also with the marble slabs she has here and there and her memorial garden...

Must look at my map in hopes of finding 5 minutes for tea when passing by in May..trying to remember if you were north of St. Louis or south..

When you divide do you do so shortly or wait until fall!

How did I know you would say you know their names..lol...I can barely rememeber mine and family members!!!

Shirley, now that you have clean nails, go get the nailpolish, you can do your nails and Tubby's toenails

Glenview, IL

Hi everyone...

I'm in a better place at the moment, mood wise...Never made it outside yesterday, decided it was just too cold. Today rainy.
Well, i've decided it is not a cold but from all the dust. Geesh, DH is away this morning. so, cleaned the kitchen, at least swept it down.
Decided I will do all the wiping down and floor mopping when they are done with the dust part!
To keep my mind off matters, I created a list of things that need to be done, will keep adding to it and crossing off as I finish, man, what did i get myself into? LOLOL...Also, decided to catch up on some recorded shows.

Gave my friend Mildred a call. She just started a garden plot last year. So, wanted to see if she's been out yet. It's one of those Community gardens, she is pretty excited as the City just came and tilled her section. We've decided that I will go Kidnap her on Sunday and have a visit here...Plus she has a few of my books, she's been pouring over all winter, and I kinda need them back...I have a great Library of the Taylor Gardening books. They have been my "bibles".

Hey Laura, Cute pics of the kids camping! It's so neat how kids find each other to play with. I miss that about camping. Meeting people from all over...Will you all go camping each weekend? So glad the school has put in a salad bar. And sure glad the parents get involved.

Betty, OMG, glad the MRI is over with. yikes, sorry to hear you had a panic with it. I've never had one, but have heard they are pretty tight enclosures. When will you hear of the results? Awe, now So sweet you'll be opening your Porch!! I've been having coffee out on the deck, or now I stroll the Gardens, dreaming. Sure hope this is the year of creating a beautiful garden...I think Julia and Anthony are going to help me till, most likely on Sunday, until then, Still a lot of clean up, ROFLOL, I haven't even gotten to the front yet.

Mary, OH my sorry you have cut your finger! I hope you get it cleared up fast. Yep don't play around with it. I've heard some pretty nasty things if you don't have it looked after! Hurry to the doc, um don't you wear gardening gloves? If not You SHOULD, lol I never used to either, but now I do, lol because of a story I heard when someone lost the tip of their finger from some sort bacteria that got under the nail, was badly infected...Am i scaring you, if yes, good, go to doc...and Everyone, please wear your Garden gloves!!
OK,ok will stop lecturing...

Kris, wow. so glad you got in a day of reading! I don't dare pick up a book now, nothing will get done, because like you, I will read until the story is done...Aw Thanks for sharing the picture of your Grandmama. She sure liked what was in the little box!

Debbie, What a bummer your DD is so sick. Has she got the flu, duh stupid ? But ohh, you don't want to catch it. I am going to tell your Doc, your not listening very well, aren't you NOT suppose to wear a bad contact unless absolute necessary? It sounds awful for me to say but can't someone else take her the soup. Grr, on the IL's and not helping.
..

Bev, woohoo, The Hosta look great...yep so smiling at the thought of seeing your gardens emerge!

Oops, got to run...Lunch time pickup!

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

I am 75 mile North of St Louis Betty. You can divide any of them anytime.
