If he's losing it a bit right now Bev, would it not be a good time to just tell him he's going into the nursing home for extra care and see what happens...feeling like you do you just can't take the extra work nor the stress..you must look after Bev because if you were to get ill he'd have to be placed anyway...hugs and prayers coming your way! Are you smoking or have you been able to not smoke, know it's a difficult time to quit when you've so much going on
Best/Worse/? Learn today - chatting with friends!
Pat and Don just left, they are going on vacation tomorrow for a week and wanted to bring me fabric..they are one of the nicest couples I've ever met...Don's sister who comes from England to visit keeps saying she might stay on her next visit..lol..always teased, last time she and her hubby came they went to Niagara Falls and while looking at the falls he said he was tired, sat down and died...so this time Don is making her visit a bit special, made her a Canadian Flag out glass..
Omg, just came upstairs and there is a 2 hr. Ed Sullivan show...right now Petula Clark is singing Downtown...bet some of you never watched or even know about the Ed Sullivan Show??? Lol
Huh,, who said I was not over doing. Ralph has offically retired me to the sidelines for the weekend. I am limping, have bruses everywhere and ankle is swollen,,,,sigh. I am a mess, but front yard is clean, porch is clean,,( I did not know my porch was so big!!),, back deck is 95% clean, I mowed my grass, part of the garden and part of my nieghbors yard. cleanned out the compost bin and found tons of baby pumpkin sprouts, and a baby peach tree growing in the bin!!! And I am still going to try to get all the plants organized tomarrow!! Gryphon and Goober will be helping with that. I am supposed to sit at a table and just pot up everything they dig up and then help Goober plant some seeds.
Sorry I have not been following everything going on here. I will try to catch back up tomarrow night after the kids leave. That is if I donot fall asleep in front of the computer again,,,,,,
And still need to clean out all 3 craft buildings,,,
oh my - what a memory of Niagara Falls......
So glad Pat has her brother Don to be with her.
What a lovely bunch of fabric he's given you, Betty! And that Canadian Flag! He's talented!
Bev - I agree with Betty - Scotty needs to go into the nursing home sooner rather than later, and right now seems like a good time.
Kris - you found new things growing in your compost bin?!?! They will be very healthy!
Sorry to hear about your limping, but at least your DH is helping you and "sidelining" you lol
Take care hon - you've done a great deal of work so far, so that's a good thing, now take a rest!
Hello All !
Ha ! Judy - whats wrong with my family... it took months to name Belle and you have the squirrel named in 2 days LOL... Love Buster....
Crissy - you are reminding me of one of my Favorite Movies... Phenomenon with John Travolta... Highly recommend it... he had a bunny in his garden... does anyone remember that part? Debbie?
Love your pressies Betty ! Elf - you can send the Peach tree my way. LOL Does anyone know what Josephs ladder is?
Betty - I remember the song "Downtown" but I don't think I every watched Ed Sullivan. Johnny Carson was "my" Tonight Show host....
Bev - have friends who used "Advantix" to quit.... They got it from Sams Wholesale (cheapest place) and it worked...
Debbie - cute story about the squirrels ... we had one once we were trying to get to come out and eat...but no more with Belle....
Shirley - the potato soup sounds yummy. Unlike Tubby I'd love the onions sauteed in bacon grease... can you post the recipe? Wonder if it's something I could make and Freeze individual portions
Hugs to all .....
Mary
Hugs,
Mary
Betty, I will be out probably by 10:00 a.m., but will meet DH for lunch, and then have a counseling appt. SO, won't be home until at least 3:00. So you will have to be patient!! Try...very hard! ROFL
Mary, I remember Phenomenom with John Travolta...but the bunny episode escapes me at the moment.
Sad to say I am known at home for strange animal encounters. They find me somehow. For some reason I just attract animals. I have told you the story of the injured Elk finding me and I followed it and we found the "owner" whos farm it had escaped from weeks earlier. My squirrels in the yard come to the window if my feeder is empty. And the stay homeless animals just seem to find our house. "Sucker" on forehead!lol
Shane birthday was very nice....and now, I am exhausted. Looking forward to staying home tomorrow.
Debbie
Debbie -
My Mom was exactly the same.... when she passed... she left 7 strays....all were unwanted dogs of various breed/mutts....
In the movie Phenomenon..... JT's character becomes strangely very brilliant.... and realizes that the bunny that keeps "getting into" his garden.... hasn't been sneaking in... but was FENCED IN by JT's character himself..... LOL
Hugs,
Mary
Morning all, coffee is on,bit on the strong side this morning so it will probably put you to attention....brrrrr talk about cold out there, took about a second for Riley to run in, bet she's sorry she was out tramping when I went to bed last night!
Debbie will be waiting for the results of your doctor appt. Glad the party went well and it will be nice for you to be treated to lunch today, you deserve an outing!
Mary, I'm sure I've watched all the John travolta movies but I don't remember that one...loved "Michael". Funny how some movies have morals to their stories, sometimes we get them and sometimes we don't!
Ever watch Groundhog Day? Silly movie, but do you know the moral of that movie?
Just for your morning fun Betty. This is one of my favorites.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SivKzsZOf_o
You are up early Holly, training yourself for the workforce? Lol
Off to look at the link
Kris, omg look at the glass you have, do you do much stained glass..keep saying I have to finish some of my unfinished projects and that's where is stay, words only!! Must get more ambitious
Rotfl...picture this Holly, grannies in a nightie, dancing with John this morning all around the living room, a sight to behold..felt so good dancing, think I might do it again...thanks for the smile and for the exercise...one more time......
Been up since about 3. Passed Ric he was heading to bed about the time I was getting up. He was working on my door it is looking pretty good. He was down in the barn cleaning out a spot to work on the lumber for the big Pergola we are going to make. So when I got up I went down to the barn with him to look at all the room he had cleared out.
Your pergola sounds wonderful, you just have to post more photo's of that lovely yard!!! How big will the pergola be...brother made one using a satellite dish, I fell in love with it, wanted one, he did get me the dish but he hasn't been well and there it sits, rather it be a his house than mine lol..one day
Nothing worse than not sleeping, I can easily get my days and nights mixed up..maybe it's the excitement of the job, lots on your mind....you'll have to have an afternoon nap!
Morning to All!
Tubby is sleeping and the dogs are outside howling up a storm. It's hard telling what they see or hear. I don't get too excited, but it's hard to believe Tubby is sleeping right through it.
Betty the fabric is great and I'm sure will come in very handy. The necklace is pretty and will look nice on you. Love the Canadian flag. I like how it's bent like it is waving in the breeze. I'm glad to hear you are finally going to the Doc. Let us know what you find out and good luck. I remember the Ed Sullivan show, we use to watch it and I always liked the Mitch Miller show where you would sing along with dot going across the top of the words on the screen. Talk about showing our age and not having a very exciting life, but there weren't all the things to do in those days like there are now. Don't kid yourself as I always managed to get into trouble almost everyday.LOL
Bev those are beautiful daylilies. I hope to expand my selection I have slowly. We have two big areas of corn lillies which are orange coming up, but I see there is a grass in one of the areas so will have to try and brush on some weed killer without touching the lillies. Bev I know it's hard to make that decision when it's time to place someone you care for in a home, but yes you have to think of yourself and it's not being selfish if you do so. You really need to look after yourself and with your condition the less stress you have the better. There is a product out there you can get a script for called Chantix to help stop smoking. Tubby and I used it, but it made me too nauseaed and he had good luck. I know alot of people that have used it with great success. We are both back smoking and right now I have no intentions of quiting, but it definately help you. Maybe down the road I will again as I had quit for 18 + yrs. Tubby has no desire to stop as he said at this point what does it matter.
Kris you have been very busy and have gotten alot done. You should feel proud of yourself but you do need to take care of yourself in the process. I'll take the peach tree LOL. I have some pits but have yet to get them in the ground, I think I will do so in the garden area when I have it all cleaned off and mark them. We use to have a walnut tree and started a bunch of others. We gave them away and ended up cutting down the tree as nothing else will grow around or near them. It did produce fruit and the squirels loved it. It was a black walnut, I think there is one left in the grove. My Mom started her peach tree from pits and it has produced alot for her, I'll try the same.
Judy here is a stab at the recipe for Potato Soup:
4-6 potatoes, peeled and cut into bite size
3 stalks celery, chopped small
1 medium onion, chopped small
6-8 slices of bacon, fried and crumbled
4 boiled eggs, peeled and diced small
butter
milk
salt & pepper
I saute' the celery and onion in butter till translucent. I add that to the drained potatoes and the fried bacon, eggs and milk. I add mainly pepper as I think there is enough salt left from the bacon and the potatoes are boiled in salt water that I don't need to add. Some like more, but we are not salt lovers and I don't need it to retain any water and Tubby has to watch it with the kidneys and his CHF. I just let that simmer and ready to eat. You can use ham if no bacon and I know that boiled eggs sound crazy, but that is what we were raised on and it's good. I think Mom had to stretch it for all of us. I dice up my potatoes right away as they cook done faster and it's ready to go as to let them cool and them cut. Hope you try this and enjoy.
Debbie glad to hear Shane had a good birthday and yes you should rest now. Do have an enjoyable lunch with DH. Just be careful out there as I'm sure there is still plenty of snow around. We got about 2" last night, so will see if Tubby wants to go out in it today. I will go out later and clean things off. Oh goody, that means the dogs will be tracking in all weekend till it dries up again.
I talked to the DD is Wisc. last night. She was sending out some resumes to some hospitals in Iowa. The one will pay their moving expenses. The oldest GD will leave to go back to Florida April 6th. I know she needs to go on with her life, I just wish it wasn't so far away. Oh well, she loves it there and that's where she wants to go to school so hopefully all will work out fine.
Now that I've written a novel and am just rambling on I will let you all go. Have a great day to all and sorry for those that I did not mention. I try to remember what I've read and comment on, but the brain isn't that good anymore. Will chat later.
Shirley
Well I just typed a few lines and it all went to cyber space. I can't remember ---- this morning. The potato soup recipe is for Mary. Sorry!
Holly that will be nice having a pergola, but where are you going to place it when done? Wouldn't it be easier to build it where it is going to be as to try and carry it to the place afterwards? Just a thought.
Morning everyone! Betty, look at all the goodies you got yesterday! Nice going.
LOL! I can just see you dancing in your night gown to John! That dance scene was at the same place Todd Proposed to me 13 years ago. It is in Gruene, Texas at the Gruene Dance hall.
Kris, your working way too hard. I agree with Ralph, and you need to sit back and relax a bit!
Morning Holly. Geesh, sounds like your going to have a nice pergola this summer.
I'm off for a hot shower, hoping I can get rid of this head and chest congestion. Seems like I am trying to catch a cold!
Betty, The Pergola will be 14 X 14 and span a utility area of the driveway. The stone is being removed and the area is going to be bricked. It is an area close to the house where the walk comes around from out front and the raised brick patio comes around from the back. The potting shed and trash cans are there I have a huge old wisteria that is laying all over the drive. The pergola will support the wisteria. It is a side entrance of the house much used but also a work area that I want to dress up a bit.
You guys are all so busy with projects of one type or another. I haven't done any crafting for a long time. I really should get a place set up so I am more likely to work on things. Everything is packed away and I tend not to dig them out. I am running today first my son to PT then GS picked up after school and then a diner invite and some games at my son's house this evening. We will buy the lumber when it goes on sale and put it in the barn to do the end cuts and routing. Then move it up to area where it will be built. When we are ready to put it up. We need to do the GH first and they should start putting pressure treated lumber on sale soon.
Here is the area from the back deck. That green wall of vegetation on the right is the fence that almost holds up the wisteria.
OH Barb, that is beautiful. SO "welcoming" and makes me want to crawl back in bed! lol
Betty....sorry if I confused you. My Appt. with the doc...and lunch with DH is for MONDAY...not today. Today I plan to do little to nothing outside this house. I need a day home!
This weekend, from tonight on....is going to be a zoo. So will rest as much as I can this morning and afternoon. Tonight is the first night of the musical at the High School. They are doing P T Barnum....and Shane is playing guitar, saxophone AND banjo...so he will be hopping for certain numbers. They do this today, tomorrow and Sunday afternoon.
Holly that will be so nice when it is done. Will you have to stain it or paint or leave the wood natural? Every time I see that wisteria I can hardly wait to get a couple and plant them.
Barb that is a beautiful quilt. It turned out so nice, love the colors and the quilting that your friend did. Will you keep this one or is this the one for that gal? I can even picture it on one of my beds. LOL First I have to finish the house before I can ever set any of the other beds up. Boy is that a long ways down the road.
Debbie you have a very busy weekend coming up. That Shane is so talented you have to be very proud of him. The high school musicals are always fun to go to. Those kids do an awesome job. Enjoy yourself but take it easy at the same time.
I am waiting for Tubby to wake up so I can vacum downstairs. I don't want to distrub him right now. I'm on my second pot of coffee and if he doesn't wake up soon I may make a coffee cake. Not a good idea as I'd be the only one eating it and I don't need it. Okay toast then.
Shirley, have you been up to check on Tubby recently, isn't it odd that he's sleeping so soundly?
Barb, that quilt is oustanding, she did such a wonderful job with the quilting..you are keeping it right? Absolutely beautiful..you've every right to be proud!
Now see Debbie, had you not posted that I'd have been sitting at the computer for the next few days anxiously awaiting your post..lol..enjoy your day..you are in need of resting!
Holly, I just love your gardens...look at that wisteria..I put one in my garden but because of the extreme winter it only grew a few feet, perhaps in years to come I'll get a flower on it.. You and Hubby are so busy, when do you think you'll have time to work? lol please continue to show your gardens..makes me feel as though summer is here and I'm in Eden..
LindaKay, that's so interesting, guess the movie was already made then? could it be 13 years since it was out..yikes, how time flies..how's the fingers
Love the box planter pond Holly, I have something similar near the back bedroom deck..don't you love ponds/water features..I've probably got about 6 here and there and still going to make a lower level pond..
Went on Harbor Freight web site, last year they had pond liner/pump really reasonable but I must be looking in wrong area as I cannot find it this year..do have your bridge though on flyer but not in stock..drats
Don't you find about now with everyone talking about their indoor and outdoor projects you just get itching to get into something..
Kris, hope you are sitting in a lounge chair giving directions to everyone..
Thunder, how about you..can picture you outside in the front in that sitting area digging, am I right?
Crissy, you busy today?
Everyone's so busy today (and always, I may add!) that I feel quite lazy sitting in front of the computer printing newsletters lol
I have a "personal day off" today, so am getting the newsletters (800 of them) ready to bring to the church tonight. I will fold some, too, but have a friend who will fold 1/2 of them (legal sized).
Then tonight my DH & have the monthly Movie Night so need to get some diet stuff for the concession stand......
If I have time, I'm going to get some of the set-up done (projector screen, chairs, etc.).
It will be good to be at the church when it's quiet. It's quite calming at that time - large open space that's so tidy, with plants to be watered. I truly feel in God's presence when I'm there alone with my thoughts and my singing (it sounds better in a sanctuary than at home)!
Good morning...
Wow what a great way to wake up in the morning!
Beautiful, Beautiful quilt, Barb.
Holly your Gardens are just Stunning, The Pergola will be a wonderful addition.
I really Love Wisteria's...LOL, I can wake up with John any day!! Yep I love Michael, always my kind of Angel!
My BF, Judy's nephew was in a Movie with John Travolta, played his son...geeze, can't think of the name of the movie just now, but at the premeir Judy was invited and got to meet John!! OMG, was I jealous.
Debbie, Enjoy the musical, smiling for Shane, he is going to be one tired guy with all the different instruments.
How cute, your squirrels came to you and mom, sure hope Buster does...Julia thank you for suggesting the sound at feeding time.
We have started to call him Buster as we feed him. I did throw a little quilt together for him, he is snuggling up in it right now.
Gave him a bath, fed and carried him around in my hoodie till he was warm...I do that with Skittles too, especially if he's got cold claws, he loves it. Sure hope you enjoy a day of leisure, you deserve it.
Bev, Was sorry to hear Scotty isn't doing well. Sending you an Arm Wrap, hope you don't overdo on things.
Shirley, Thanks for sharing the potato soup recipe! Sounds wonderful, I will give that a try! Hope that Tubby gets a good sleep in.
Did he do some potting the other day?
Ohhh, I think the movie was Domestic Disturbance.
Mary, I love Phenomenon! But then i do love John Travolta as an actor, will watch his movies over and over, lol. Just recently watched Face Off...anyway, got to say, I have forgotten the bunny was fenced in by him, too funny...
Susan, i hope you enjoy the day off...Today is my fun day too.
Betty, My goodness, I am so glad you've made Doc appointment. Did you get the bi-folcals figured out?
LOL, I can picture you dancing around this morning...So what are you up to today? You should be getting off soon, hot diggity!
Well, we decided not to go to the Cottage this weekend, as it supposed to be kind of nasty weather wise...So i am actually kind of releived, So much needs to be done here. But I did get the fabric cut and one row pieced. Had to take a break to feed the Buster.
Now I am going to move outside to weather strip a few windows in the GH.
OH, Oh here is some excitement!! Breenie went Downtown today to see about taking classes at the Art Institute! (the building with the Lions out front). She took her Camera's along, I hope she gets some cool shots.
Lets see Jacob has been working out with his coachs and has learned a few moves. He was really excited and is getting more excited that Nationals are coming up...Next Weekend. Hmmm, Wondering when he will get his singlet, sweatshirt and T'shirt, maybe at weigh-ins.
I've already got a bag going, lol I am excited too!
Ok...Well, i better get a move on, got to feed the baby again and then going outside for a bit, yay here comes the sun!
Have a good afternoon.
busy day, not fun day - although I'm not at work, I'm still "working" - printing the newsletter, 50 one-sided pages at a time (printer won't take anymore without jamming) then I turn the 800 around and do the 2nd side - this could take awhile lol
I'll have to get more ink, cuz I will run out - good thing Wally-World mall has an ink refill place!
Tonight's Movie Night and we're playing Invictus (about Nelson Mandela). I'll need to get some Diet-type of drinks and snacks for those who can't eat the "Full-Fat" stuff lol
Judy, another 1 1/2 hrs left to my day then heading out to get quotes on changes I want for the camper..think when I get home I'll organize myself for weekend sewing..know if I sit on the chesterfield that's it for me, got to fight this in bed at 7am.
No sense Judy you going to the cottage if you can't get outside and do anything, get all done at home so that when you finally get to the cottage you'll not fret over what is not done at home..
As for the dancing Judy, I just love to dance and am great at it, especial the rock and roll and/or step dancing..I should take it up again, might help me lose weight...
Ahhh, Buster could not have found a better home..imagine, a quilt just for him..did you monogram it so when he gets into the wilds the other squirrels will know just who it belongs to, you know they'll be fighting for it...you are such a good mommy! No wonder you were envious, imagine, getting to meet John Travolta...
Am a bit worried, looking for update from Shirley, just so odd that Tubby slept in that late..if you are lurking Shirley, drop in so we don't fret!
Susan, what a way to have a day off..why again did you get today off, know you had last Friday off right? Didn't know WalMart did refils, do they all do so? I've been finding it's almost just as cheap to purchase a new printer rather than refilling..got to say that's the reason most likely our landfill sites are full.. Hope the church knows just what a gem they have in you.
Debbie, can you take photo's at the show or are they prohibited?
Oh you can guarantee I will take pictures. So many kids, their parents dont take pictures....or even come for the show. SO I take the pictures and put them on CD for the kids that ask.....and post them on FB so the kids can "tag" themselves in the pictures to show on their own pages.
Jeanna is refusing to come to the play. My daughter, at age 27....still has a great fear of clowns. So we told her she would be in the middle of all the seats well protected. She WILL have nightmears....so she might not come. Especially with Joe still away.
Debbie, is Jeanna staying with you while her hubby is away working? I'll look forward to seeing photo's!
I haven't been taking many as I'm having difficulties with the new camera ..seems some day when I want to attach it's simple and at other times does not attach to the thread! Last night the photo's I attached loaded fine.. Kids always say, 'not the camera mom' think they are camera shy but you know, after Roger died we had so little photos, he never wanted his photo taken..that was a shame!
Have fun!
No, Jeanna is at her own home. She has kitties....and well, no room for ALL of them here. She has four, and two of them are about 23 lbs or so. Big boys! lol She is closer to her work where she lives and also Carrie isn't too far away. Joes parents live at the farm in the back yard also....so she has them if a problem.
Susan, Movie night sounds like a lot of fun.
Betty, Not sure if it is related to your problem or not but last night I was downloading pics to DG and they kept disappearing on me. I have never had that happen before. Got so bad that I stopped trying and went back this morning and added the pics. They were pictures of my Hellebore. Here is a sample of what I was posting.
Jaye - we're allowed 5 "personal days" per year (at least) and because I started here in Dec, I got 3 of 'em. I was told, at the beginning of March, that I needed to take them or I'd lose them.
So, I took my birthday (11th), and the 18th and 25th off. At the start of April, our fiscal year start, I will get 5 more "loaded into my bank".
I can add them to my 4 weeks of my vacation if I wish, or maybe I'll take them at Christmastime. That is, IF I'm still employed here....no, no... won't think negative thoughts - I will just go day by day until my probation is over, June 6th, and not "borrow trouble", right sistahs?
