Crissy, are a lot of places unionized dorm there? Could Dave go for retraining in a different field?

That's a hard age to be looking for employment and I guess Barb the worry about the medical plan...think I had better go check that lottery ticket, then maybe some of our problems would be looked after...
Exactly Barb! Dave doesn't have any health problems and they still won't hire him. He doesn't even look 50, he looks about 42. What's bad is here in AR, unlike CA, is they CAN ask you how old you are and it's not discrimination.
Crissyr, So hard, I know several people in much the same circumstance. Seen so many people lose really good jobs and can't quite seem to be able to get back into the work force.
Hello Linda K this message is for you Kyle is visiting decided to show me how to do the dictation and put it on garden thread know you have broken fingers although there could be a few errors it would work wonders for you
The above was voice dictation Linda Kay, it is a free download, if you want it, let me know and I'll tell you how to access the program on your iPad...cool, don't need fingers!
wow Betty - voice recognition free download??? kewl! I'm sure LK will find it useful ^_^
Got a call from my mom last night - my auntie Betty, who's been in hospital on morphine for about a month, has been taken off life support. They're in Neepawa, Manitoba, so of course I can't be there for the family. I rather suspect by the time I type this that she's passed on to the Lord.
It a difficult time for my mom, and this is her 3rd sister to pass, and now she just has the youngest sister left, and both her brothers have passed away too. My mom will be 92 May 2nd, so she's feeling very fragile right now, with her own age and now the passing of her sister. As my mom lives in Winnipeg, she would likely not be able to go to the funeral.
my aunt is the one who passed, but my mom is feeling down.....
Susan so sorry to hear of the sad news of your family. May God be with you and them especially at this hard time. It does give you comfort in knowing that she hurts no more and is beautiful and walking with no pain. ((((HUGS)))) to you all and our prayers are with you and your family.
Betty your strips for the quilt are looking good girl. I know it will be great when you are done.
Well, I finished the middle floor today and got the carpet laying down to straighten out. I have to pick up some double sided tape when in town tomorrow. I'll scrub the floors upstairs while Tubby is at dialysis and dust and vacum. I will have to work on taxes after that so I can get them filed. I need to go to the court house and get the vehicle title changed over now that it is paid for. YaHoo! Well it won't be long and Tubby will be wanting to go to bed. so I will say Good Night to All and Sweet Dreams. Hope the sun shines for everyone tomorrow.
Susan, So sorry, for you and your Mothers grief. Must be very hard for you as well thinking about your mother. My parents are in their 80's and fairly good health but I know that my time with them is limited. I have been blessed to have them this long, that they have been able to enjoy their Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Susan sorry to hear about your Aunt.
Betty, I would love to know what that program is called please?
Well, yesterday and this morning I was feeling pretty good, but I have been sleeping most of this afternoon, and can't stop coughing. I don't have a fever, and no other symptom's. Just really congested in the head and chest, and really tired.
Ric brought my new bench up to the driveway this afternoon. I need 24 hours of 35* temps to stain it. I will post some pics after it is finished. Just love it. It is 8 1/2 ft long and will hold 15 flats plus some hanging baskets. I was outside for awhile hacking back the quince that grows along side the driveway.
Susan, my heart goes out to you and your family for the loss of your Aunt Betty..prayers and hugs! Can understand how your mom feels, was the hardest thing that we had to deal with was Grandma's sadness of having her sibbling go before her, her friends and in later years her children.
Difficult as well when they are unable to make the funeral..can you visit with your mom?
Linda Kay, you go to your apps and on upper right hand corner type in 'dragon dictation, it' free, takes a bit of time to download,will then ask you which language etc.
Once downloaded you will see in bottom right hand corner a small. 'i'
Press it and scroll down and it will tell you all the words I.e if you said coma then it would put a coma
To dictate simply press the record button and tap it once to stop recording..don,t tap twice or it will erase
At this point it will let you e mail..to put it on dg you copy and when on dg screen, touch for a second and paste comes up and voila...message done..fun for emails as you don't have to type..just make sure not a lot of noise in the room and you speak clearly...if for no other reason it's fun to play with
Holly can't wait to see your bench! I was thinking it was a seating bench but you got spoilt and got what all of us gardeners would love to have ...
As always Shirley, you've tired me out! You've already got most of the week planned out and we're just getting the day in. Glad tubby is up to having his chemo. Usually ann drops in from church and we gab, didn't come today, I'm always tin king the worse so I'll say I hope mike felt well enough to go out for a ride! Do know some of the family were coming to visit just invade so that could be it as well.
Laura, you still in making desks? How far have you gotten? I would say if all the wood is cut to measure then you've accomplished much!
Haven't eaten so am thinking I just might have a bowl of cereal and a hot chocolate...trying to stay up a little longer as I don't want to be up again half way through the night!
geeze - am I saying Aunt Betty again....... It's my Aunt JEAN. Guess I've been thinking about all my mom's sisters that passed, plus Aunt Betty - SIL.
Don't know why I keep saying Aunt Betty..... guess I type your name so often Betty, and I DID have an Aunt Betty.... oh, I'm hopeless today.
Auntie JEAN is the one who just passed. Always remember the song "Bonnie Jean" from Brigadoon (my fav musical movie, ever), whenever I think about her.
Betty that is just beautiful.
Hello To All ! Wow what a spectacular beautiful day today... hearts just singing ♪♫♪♫ I'd bottle it up and send to each and every one of you if I could...
Betty LOL... yup I did milk it a bit today... but it Was very difficult not to get my hands dirty.. although I got into a bit more than prob should. Hope you didn't cut your finger too bad... aren't we all triplets with our hurt hands. We now have 3 koi and a few other types fish in the pond.
Shirley - We do have a hibby we call a "mallow or hardy" hibiscus.... much like your wall of hibbys but we just have the one... it is pink but the flowers are spectacular. It just dies down and comes back every year...but the tropicals have to be babied...
they say our weather is getting colder each year here. SUCH a great story about your pup... funny ....because one of the last things we did in the yard... we have some duck decoys and DH threw in the Pool.... Belle about went NUTS... I'll try to post a pic...
Holly - great job for you... DH worked parttime in a nursery 9 years ago.... I could care less about gardening back then but the boss would tell him to 'go throw those plants away'... if they looked 1/2 dead and unappealing. some were thrown away in Hubby's truck and still have them to this day LOL.....
Oh Barb... how romantic... and Italian dinner too ! Very sweet ! Thanks Crissy for clarificatiion on Earth Day/Hour... was not aware of that... Hibiscus are my fav's too... LOL "Lowes Fetish"...
LK and Holly - great ideas on potatoes.... Hubby got So much done today ... 'made' more room in yard so maybe.....
And Susan... BIG HUGS to you and your Mom... Wow - 92...! That's fabulous ! My 92 year old aunt called me today.. Nice but very strange... I don't think she has ever called me before! Just called to chat...she heard I am trying to come visit her near Birmingham, AL. and was hoping I could come.... I would Love to !
The Hibbie I bought (not free one) was in bloom today... will try to post a pic. It's called "Cosmic Ray"...
By the time dinner came by ...was so pretty and we had all worked in the yard. I suggested Boiled Crawfish for supper a bit early and a bit expensive... but seemed like a Good idea.... and the kids Love it !
OOPS! Forgot about the bum finger! Oh well... DH just had to peel them for me ! So I supposed I've 'milked' the injury about as far as possible HAHAHAHA!!! Good thing my cajun hubby didn't mind.... he peels them faster anyway....
Okay - better work on these pics... LOL
Hugs to all,
Mary
My goodness Mary that Belle sure is a cutie!Glad to reada your DH helped you out with peeling the crawfish. Dinner sounded wonderful!
There are crocus blooming in the flower garden to the immediate south of the house. I was so excited to see them, sure hope that this is a sign warmer temps are on the way. Spent a goodly time this weekend perusing catalogues for new perennials - sure lifted my spirits to look at all the gorgeous colours. My criteria for adding new perennials to the gardens is they must be reblooming and deer resistant.
Oh LK you must have a devil of a time doing just about anything. Hope those fingers heal fast!
Does anyone here use Skype? I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on the service.
Well coyotes are howling, geese are honking and the dogs are barking - at least there is 1 thing I can stop..... going out to bring the dogs in.
~~~~~~~ to everyone!
Dianne
Morning everyone..brrr, I think I put the furnace down a bit lower than I should have perhaps and it's cold in here...changed things this morning, hot chocolate is waiting!
Oohh Mary, your yard is so inviting...love the pond, quite large isn't it, no wonder you have birdies visiting. Beautiful photo of you and Belle; sounds as though you've had the perfect weekend.
Hard to imagine that many of you are seeing plant life flowering...as I look outside I only see dead leaves covering my gardens, plant life asking me to leave their blankets on just da while longer...with Easter
not for a month I think that will be my goal to clean the yard.
As for the chard of glass it all but nicked it,not worth mentioning..as Dianne would know this happens often when working with stained glass!
Dianne,has the ice left your bay? It's fun looking at the seed catalogues and dream..I have to dig up far end of the front garden next to the house...add top soil and such, revamp..it's totally shaded so need different plants, was even thinking shrubs.
Dianne do you lose much being eaten by deer?
Haven't been on skype so can't help you . Do have a web cam and that seems to work well with the family and friends I chat with!
Are you feeling better these days?
Bath waiting, off I go!
Mary love the picture of Belle and you. The hibby is beautiful. I'd be glad to send you some of the seeds from the hardy hibiscus if you want. The pond looks great and it's hard to believe anyone is in shorts already this year. That would be fun to be able to watch the wild life and birds. The dogs keep most of the wild things away and that's okay as they aren't the ones I really want around. I'm gonna try to plant flowers that will draw more birds. Tubby hung up an old cage from an oscillating fan a couple of years ago to a tree. We keep it full of dryer lint and strings for the birds to help build their nest. It hangs on the back side of one of the trees. It needs to be cleaned out from winter and new put in.
Holly the bench sounds great. I bet it's hard to hold off putting anything on it till you get it stained. Enjoy your work today, what time do you have to be there and how long are you working?
Betty have a great day at work and let us know what you find out at the Dr.'s today.
Tubby is still sleeping and I'm quietly drinking coffee and playing on the computer. The dogs have drug in all sorts of mud from the fields. Darn! I swept some of it up already but there is a bigger mess by the front door but will have to wait till Tubby is up. I should have known that was going to happen as I just scrubbed and put down a clean rug yesterday. They are all outside barking at who knows what.
LindaKay how are the fingers coming along? Hopefully you are getting along okay.
Dianne we have a web cam on the computer but have never tried it, always thought about it. Someday!
Well, I sit back and enjoy the coffee and plan my day. Have a great day everyone!
Betty those pieces are beautiful. What are you going to do with them? Are they gifts that you have done or just pieces you wanted to try? I can see the trees and the sparkle, suttle but elegant. You are crafty woman. We'll probably see a line of jewelry out there one day " Jewelry by BP", let us know when you start it up. LOL
Shirley, told a few girls I'd mail them a little trinket, the set with bronze paws are for my sister!
Moving us over..let's see if I can
