.... and that is your Baby....right Debbie? .... I went through this last year.... it's very hard.....
Best/Worse/? Learn today - chatting with friends!
My aunt is fighting cancer - she's on morphine, in the hospital. She's almost 90, so there isn't a lot that can be done for her - just make her comfortable.
Betty please let Ann and MIke know Prayers from DG friends are being said.
Coffee is on.
Going to do my volunteer work this am at the kids school.
Betty did you get my package yet?
Morning all, dark there, could be that the sky is heavy but no snow in my neck of the woods... Toronto and north of Barrie have many school closures...thinking of Debbie, think it's right her area. Weather forecaster says we just might miss it! Would not hurt my feelings.....
Thank you for all your kind words and prayers, did tell her you've all been following the road they've been traveling and she said she has no words to say how grateful they are.
Now that they are talking about death, Mike said he wanted to go and make funeral arrangements, will have funeral here and not in the city..because so many will come from out of town I told here my home would be open for 8 as she's already worried as to where her family will stay..
She asked mike what he would really love to do? He knows he's failing quickly and could never travel but he said he'd give anything to be well enough to be in his boat for bass fishing opening May 1 st...there are always neighbors nearby who would help get his boat in the lake to make that dream come true, the rest is in the Lords hands..
I often thought after Roger died how I wish we could have talked about his dying and our life together but it happened so quickly, b&$$) cancer but now I see how ann and mike have to live each day , the wait, I feel blessed that I only had to endure for 3 weeks..
Lordy I'm watching t.v. News, seeing cars spin out, remember driving in much the same coming home from buffalo a few weeks ago..nerve racking for sure...
Morning Everyone!
Betty am so sorry to hear about Mike and Ann. Our hearts and prayers are with them and thankful that you are there for them. I hope that they are able to enjoy this time they have together and that he is not in the hospital or suffering too much. God be with them both.
Kris boy I would have a ball helping you clean up and take some of those scraps off of your hands. When I finally get to the stage that I don't have anything going I want to go through our out buildings and clean them out and organize the wood sheds. Tubby tore down the old pigeon & peacock building years ago and the foundation is in for two metal sheds (not big ones) to put up so that we could empty out the old part of the house. We need to store it so we can tear down the walls inside and finish it. It will be a big undertaking when I get started. Eventually I will have to hire help for changing the windows and doing the roof and lowering the ceilings in that area. Once that is done I should be able to hang the dry wall and that myself. I'd also have to hire the electrical done and the furnace stuff put in for that area as I don't know enough to do it myself. Tubby knows how to run and hook up the electrical and plumbing, but I'm not that blessed. Oh well, that;s why we call it the someday house.
Debbie are you having a B party for Shane? They do grow up fast and it's hard to believe that graduation will be here soon. The school year has gone fast.
Mary did you not like the Jacob's ladder or did it not take? I'd send you some if you want any. I wouldn't mind if it would take around the propane tank to hide it, but I think I have to cut the one tree limb down that hangs close by so it would get more sun.
Well I have to go take a shower and get ready for work soon. Check back in later today. Have a great day all and hope the sun shines for all. Hopefully if you get snow Debbie it won't amount to much.
Shirley
No package yet Laura, Mary said she sent me one and a swap package missing but I think it's the custom thing...should be here soon,am excited!!
Have fun Laura at the school, something the kids will remember as adults, how mom came out to play with them...will you go camping this weekend?
Debbie, we always think that these injuries happen during major accidents and the likes and look at you, just playing and lifting...I would think the extra pressure because of your foot aggravated it...only surgery can fix? Not meds? Hope Shane gets up this morning to find the meds worked wonders through the night!
Mary, Belle is your and dh's baby..fun having something to mother! Sorry work is so stressful, no fun going to work each day not really wanting to be there! If there were jobs in quantities and you could be assured of leaving your place of employment to go directly to another, what career change would you make? I'm glad that you have your gardens to de-stress!
Dianne, see that the next weather system may reach your area..maybe this is the " out like a lion " part of march!
Holly, that's about the age I first retired then went back into the workforce about 5 years later....so you and dh enjoy diving? Danie and her family got back from 2 weeks in Mexico and went diving, said due to Japanese tsunami it was very murky..job won't be too bad with both retired, everyday is a weekend type of day so you can have your "our" time anytime during the week. I'm sure that many who are applying don't have your experience in gardening.
Susan, did you get your flyers done?
LindaKay, how are you going to fill in your day seeing as you only have one hand! Guess you can't sew very easily.
Shirley, how did you both sleep? Bet you've a full slate p,annex for the day?
Guess I'd better get a move on, busy day for Suzanne as clients are in every hour on the hour for signing with trustee...just hope trustee and assistant can make it from Toronto!
Gab later
Geeze, almost every town in area have closures but it's nice hear...have had that happen before, go about 5 miles and you cant see so will leave a little earlier just invade!
Well my second interview is this afternoon.
Betty, I'm the diver, Ric doesn't/can't dive. He has ruptured eardrums from his time in the service and the tubes from the ears are open right into the sinuses. He gets in water and has done a little snorkeling but diving without specialized equipment is out of the question. When we go snorkeling he says cold sea water running though your head is a very strange feeling. LOL He has been very supportive of my diving and several years ago I hooked up with a nice group of divers that have a trip once a year. I don't always go with them but I have been to the Turks, Roatan, Cozumel and Utila. Ric doesn't usually come along but he did come with us to Cozumel and had a wonderful time poking around by himself while I was diving.
Good morning,
Betty just a light covering of snow, but it is the little "sleet" round balls of snow. Nothing flake like at all. Some schools WAY south of here towards Buffalo are closed, but as I said we just have a dusting.
No, bone spurs need to be removed via surgery. I have already had naproxen/anti inflamatory and it did nothing....also had the injections in the bursa and that was a minimal temporary fix. I will know more after the MRI and appt. on Monday.
Good morning Tubby & Shirley. I bypassed the pepsi this morning and am having some coffee.
Yes, Shane is my "baby" and the only boy. He is having a few friends (the band) over between end of school and musical practice, and then the sisters are coming when they get out of work for cake and pressies.
His cell phone died, so that is on top of his gift list. What happened to coloring books, toy soldiers and movies?
Need to go move cars, SHannon has to go to her internship at school.
Debbie
Doctors office called, they got the approval.....and an MRI is scheduled for 12:30 today!
So, slow and steady in this weather....and I am on my way.
Debbie
Debbie that's great news, omg just can't believe how efficient your medical is, think it was 2 1/2 months mom waited for her and here in 24 hrs. you are in! Be careful driving..icy/icy here..was snowing when I got to Barrie but seems to have stopped..Trustee should have been here at 9:30 and still no sign of him..guess all the clients will be waiting..drats that is not good!
LOL at the coloring book and toy soldiers, can you imagine Debbie giving a young child something like that these days..
Holly, Danie and her hubby were in Turks last year, they so love it..guess they may not have been as disappointed has the tsunami not created a stir in Mexico..good luck on your interview.
Shirley, heavy job doing the drywall..I did my basement family room on my own and Darlene came over to help me tape and putty..had a bil who does that for a living and couldn't believe I had attempted it..need a ceiling with hanging tiles, I'll soon get fed up enough that I'll try to hang them..
I have learned to peck at the keys to type good enough, but I have not tried to get the machine out yet! I have blocks I need to get done, but I am so glad the due date it not in the near future!
I sure hope everyone understands that I can't get to it right away.
Now that Dad is gone, I will take over his room, and put up a table, and move the sewing machine to his room! Maybe this week-end, Todd can help me move things around?
Shirley, I agree with Bewtty, drywall is very heavy! Please gert some help, when you get to that project! Don't need to have you out with a bad back or shoulder injuries...
Goodness Debbie, Many many many thoughts and prayers coming at ya!
And many many more going out to Ann and Mike.
Watching someone die so slow is so heartbreaking, had to watch my grandfather slowly die from Congestive Heart Failure for a little over a year, and my grandmother for 11 years. It's not easy either way, both situations have their pros and cons.
I don't know what's wrong with me, I am so tired all the time and I'm sleeping plenty. I don't get it.
LOL Betty I need a hanging ceiling, also. I didn't hang the dry wall but I did the tape, spackle and texture of the walls in the mud/utility room. This room looked like an unfinished basement when I started. There wasn't even drywall at the top of some of the walls and there were holes and uneven drywall where different thicknesses were used.
Debbie, glad you didn't have to wait very long for the MRI.
Betty they have a special sawhorse you can get that will hold the drywall in place now. It is designed for people like me who do it themselves as to rely on someone wanting to help. i've learned alot from Tubby over the years, thank goodness. I just got home from work and as soon as Tubby wakes up I'll make him breakfast.
Holly cute corner. I like the lizards on the wall. I don't think hanging a tile ceiling is hard it's just making sure that it is level. It'll take more time to hang all the brackets then putting the tile in place.
Debbie that's good that you got to go in for the MRI today. The Dr. won't get the report till later today or tomorrow morning. Good luck! I'm sure Shane is anxious to get a new cell phone. It's hard to believe we use to do just fine without all this new technology. Wish him a Happy Bday from us.
Crissy maybe you need some iron or a long vacation to get energized. The vac. sounds better then iron.LOL
It's chilly and windy out today so not a good day to be out there. I do have to go gather eggs and check on the chickens. Do that this afternoon. I'm gonna go change clothes and get to work. I want to finish that room and dust and vacum and scrub up here. Our house has 3 levels not counting the old basement. Tubby is up in the top level where the kitchen, dining room and living room are. That's where his bed is and the chair lift goes from the entrance on the middle level to the living room. It would be nice to have the chair lift down to the family room and bedroom, but that is like 2,500 dollars. Too much for us. This does the jjob and we're thankful for that. When I get done with the bathroom and bedroom down there I will take pictures so Tubby can see what I did. He'll enjoy that. Okay off to work I go. Chat later.
Shirley
Bev, could they not put Scotty (know he'd fight that) into the hospital for a week or so so not only will he gain strength but it will give you a rest as well? Freezings not good, they are such delicate flowers but having survived the winter elements I think they are stronger that what we think..lets hope you don't lose any...am glad your neighbor is doing better! Isn't the siloam double gorgeous..not from this year right?
I had a trick to the sheeting, I'd lift it over my toes, walk backwards to the wall, let the top of the sheet hit the wall, remove my toes from under the sheet, then squeeze out from behind the sheet and wiggle it to the wall...talk about sore but it worked..then I took a large stencil and some dap, raised a design in a corner of the room, when I painted over it, it looks great!
Holly, we should all get together and go into contracting business in this our golden age..
We have vacation planned from April 13th thru the 17th but what sucks is I have the Spring Conference my office hosts on the 21st and 22nd, and we pretty much have to stay awake for 48 hours straight, entertaining.
Those are gorgeous Bev!
Crissy that's not a vacation girl, what you need to do is come visit me and I'll mother you and make sure you get some rest!
Got my glasses, am hoping headaches will be behind me..yikes, everything looks so bright, maybe it's the new HD film..lol
Hello Everyone...
My Goodness, So much gong on!
As I work I've been thinking about all of you, saying little prayers good wishes.
Betty, so sorry to hear of Mike's condition. I agree whole heartedly at Ann having You for a friend.
Debbie, Oh my goodness, so sorry to hear of your should and Shane's rash...Good news about the house situation, at least you it's getting attention.
Elf, Oh man nothing like an inspection out of clear blue sky to "make" you clear the area, yikes, sounds like a lot of work, don't over do it.
Crissy, (((()))))Hope you get to feeling better, could be your being out in the fresh air more!! I know, I 've been outside almost the entire day since last Friday. Go to be at 9-930, lol then wake up at 3!! Return to sleep about 5 for and 1.5 hrs, and start all over!..Thanks for thinking about me. As all of you on Sunday. The memorial was Beautiful and fun. Had lots of memories and great pictures.
Oh Linda Kay, So sorry about your Two fingers, wow so glad you got a doc appt right away! Glad you found a way to peck around with us...
Shirely, gosh, so glad Tubby did get hurt, falling out of bed...My goodness. You never cease to amaze me, lol Between you and Betty, I need a nap, lol...Got to tell , I so enjoy hearing what you are up and all that is on your to do list, kicks me into gear about just doing and not thinking about it!!
At this point i am so behind on everything, I got to make it a point to Come play but right now, I am in "work" mode...Not an easy thing with DH working around the corner, my day is interrupted constantly to drop and find what ever he's needing. Sigh, makes things a little more crazier then usual!
Oh Mary, Love the pic of Belle and the Girls...
Well, i have to show you what else is taking A LOT of my time!! I've become a Grand squirrel ma!!
Here is our Suirrelson.
We have not named him yet.
Judy! How sweet is that! Dave planted 4 heads of iceburg lettuce, something ate one of them the night before last. Dave said he's going to get his pellet gun out, but I don't know what good that will do, unless he sits out there all night guarding the garden, and I can't see him doing that!
I would love to spend the days outside but I'm stuck inside all day.
Betty if those headaches aren't gone by tonight you have something else going on. Amazing what new glasses do, isn't it? LOL
SSSWWWEEEEEEEETTTTTT!!!!!
Judy, awwww look at that little one, how on earth are you feeling him, eye drop? Now how come you are being the grandmothers..LOVE the greenhouse, would love one, just don't think it would survive the winter here. Jacob or Liz or both gave you that wonderful gift..you are a spoilt one. Bet Steve is h ome for breakfast/lunch/afternoon treats..lol..you'll be glad to see him work downtown again. How is his project going, on schedule?
Crissy, could be bunnies! Tell Dave no shooting because if he does we'll have no easter treats!
Today i am putting in a few weather strips here and there. As soon as i am able I need to give it a good wash down...He didn't give me a chance to wash the panel before re-assembling, but I wasn't going to argue or it would be put on hold!
And the one Liz gifted me is on the way! So, Already talked with her and I will use the shelves of her in this GH for now! We are both thrilled!!
Oh Diane, yikes you getting snow again...We have been having Rain and more Rain, so I have been inside getting everything back in order since, I have been outside everything inside has been at a halt!
Worked on laundry and then my drain sink, needed fixing...so now i am backed up with laundry again. Was glad Steve fixed it right away.
Speaking of which, I better get to changing out the loads, lol.
LOL, Thanks!! Can you see me smiling big over here...I had to laugh, I wanted a GH for so long, and now i 'got two at the same time.
See, I always say good things happen if your patient!!
LOL, Betty, Julia is the baby's momma, she is the one that rescued it...There were 4. We gave Aaron the others to take to an Adoption shelter, the same night she found them...We went to Pet smart and got a Baby Bottle for small animals...She has done a lot of research on how to care for it...Our next step is to create an outside shelter for him. He will be let go in about 8 weeks!
We created a little bed with warm water bottles. Outside We will create his shelter with leaves and such and quilting batting ( it dried quickly) for warmth... And as much as she balks about it being out side, He will live in the Greenhouse, until he he goes. It's either that or the shed! But he can't stay in the house.
ok buzzer going, bb
Judy, love thet little squirrel son! But I LOVE that greenhouse! I know where you will be spending most of your time!
Hey Bev, sorry to hear about Scotty! Sending lots of prayers your way.
I know you Judy, he'll be in the house, you'll fret too much to worry about him being away from you! lol
Yes, good things come to those who are patient..not one of my traits.
Think I'll be going back to check the glasses, have to almost put my head back to get full value of the bifoculs
I am back, safe and sanity is questionable! Took me a bit over two hours to get home , it is horrible out there! The semi trucks were only going 30....and it is the visability that is so bad.
So glad the MRI is behind me, had me wedged in that thing with a contraption on my arm/shoulder and pillows so I couldn't move. Tried so hard not to have a panic attack.
I need to get to the store for Shanes cake and some supplies, no way going out again. Will see what DH says when he gets home.
Judy, that baby is adorable. I have raised a few myself, and taken a few to rescue as I remember how much work it is!
Love the green house also! So sweet of Jacob to do that.
Ok, I need to get some rest....falling asleep here.
Debbie
Apparently Toronto is being hit hard with storm, Trustee will be here until 6 or so he'll have quite the trip home..not storming here yet, let's hope it stays that way.
Well, I'm gonna head outside and do the chores here, but I just thought I'd drop in a minute. I just finished making some potato soup for Tubby, it will simmer a while and then he can have some. I had a phone conference with his Kidney Dr. and group. They said things are looking good there and I just need to work on appetite. Ha! He is going to call in a new script to see if it will help improve his appetite. We'll see.
Crissy I think you need a real vacation and not work. Tell your DH if he shoots the rabbits you won't be able to have an Easter egg hunt LOL. There is a product you can get to sprinkle around the garden area and they won't cross so maybe you should look into it.
Betty I hope those new glasses help, but if not to the Dr. you go. It takes a bit to get used to having bifocals, but you should not have to move your head. Just take it easy going up and down steps or curbs with them on if you are not use to them. Trifocals are even worse they say. I have bifocals so I only know what I hear.
Judy that GH is great and to have two of them. You will be starting up a new business at that rate. I'm jealous, but do enjoy. If I were closer I'd build ya some shelves. Tubby made some out of PVC pipe and paneling for the shelves to put his seed pots on when he starts seeds. The lights hang above each shelf. You would have to use plywood for the shelves if you were going to put anything of weight on them.
Bev so sorry to hear about Scotty. Hope things improve for you both and know that are prayers are with you both and (((HUGS))) to you also.
Okay, gotta go, chat later!
Love that GH How wonderful. I can't wait till I get mine up.
Second job interview went very well. They are doing a background check next, then a drug test and then I should have a real job offer. I understand they are really busy and want to get people working as soon as possible so I think I could be working in another week or so.
Crissy tell Dave if he shoots the rabbits Debbie will cry for a week!
DH got home and said it is horrible out there. If DH says it is horrible, it is worse than that because he never thinks the weather is bad. He said cars in the ditch everywhere.
Shirley, glad to hear Tubby had a good report. They used to give my Mom something to increase her appetitite, and it worked! Used to have to get her chicken and dumplings all the time for her craving! Sure hope it works for Tubby.
Bev, thoughts and prayers are with you and dealing with Scotty.
Need to start some dinner.
Debbie
Just came in from doing chores. It's windy but not bad. I've seen it alot worse, but sure am glad that all your family is home safe Debbie and sorry that you are getting such bad weather. I hope it doesn't last long and no one gets hurt. Did Shane feel any better today?
I took a walk around the yard while I was out there. The tulips are up 3-4" and daylilies about 1-2". I'll have to get the catnip cleaned off and some other lilies taht are popping through. The lilacs are budding and the Forsythia budding and the fruit trees. It really makes a person want to get busy. I will do so when it warms up again. I need to get the lawn cleaned off and raked so I can put down some crabgrass preventer. I need to finish the inside chores so when it warms up I can go out and stay out.
Be back in a second, bath running, have to put my head down...
Congratulations Holly...know you'll get the call soon...wow sure do a lot oft testing!
Debbie, when do you get the results?
Oh my goodness!! too much to comment on all !!! so I will just say love and hugs to every one......
Betty I talk to my son on instant messenger quite a lot, and once or twice a week on the skype thing...which if you are not familiar with has a video connection so we get to see him, and he can see us !!!! it is awesome, talk to my grand daughter that way too!!!! he is doing well, thanks for asking.....YOU REALLY NEED TO GO TO SEE THE DOCTOR ABOUT THOSE HEADACHES!!!!!!
I have copied and pasted the following on a few threads, so you can all get the info
our main computer is dead...can not even get the "front page" to open got a nasty virus somewhere had Norton anti virus program, and it missed what ever it was... bought McAfee and tried to install it....no go
over the course of a few days...every time we tried to log on....more programs disappeared, I did luckily get to save most of my photos and some documents, thank goodness we had been backing things up on discs/drive sticks.....
hubby did a chat thing with Norton from his laptop...and every thing they said did not work,......then we got the McAfee, could not install it on the main computer, but got it on the laptops, hubby did a chat with the techs there...and everything they said to try did not work either....guess i have to start saving my nickles and dimes...to get a new computer..
soooo between that and the GD here I have not been on much...now trying to catch up...had grand time with the kiddo, they left this morning, I am going to miss them much
I have tomorrow off, going to do a little yard work, a little house work, and a lot of sewing...
I have missed Y'all but sure had a blast with my angel ^_^
Hello To All !
Shirley - not sure what "Jacobs Ladder" is ? I'm sorry - I looked it up in DG...and there were so many different pictures... some had blue flowers... the Lupine I planted just started blooming.... Sorry I'm so ignorant... but I'm ready to learn.... :)
Would love the potato soup recipe. I LOVE Potato soup... bought some from Outback for dinner last night...
Betty - yes work has been stressful as of late... I've gotten into the habit of finding an outside park and just stop and get out and try to take some deep breaths. DH suggested the Rural Life Museum, and stopped there today... they've built a huge new area... so another on the list if you want to visit while here LOL.
Deb - Amen Sister... Got Cell phone for DS19 bday March 10th. NOT as much fun as the 'old' days... took him to the store and he picked it out. What happened to Pokemon cards, bey blades, Power Rangers LOL...
Crissy - DH has said the same thing ...being tired.... I attribute somewhat to Spring Forward last week... I remember that conference you have to work the whole thing and organize it... Didn't you have to room with Ms. Cheerful last year? Maybe get a room to yourself this year! We have been known to put Cayenne (red) pepper out to get rid of critters...
only is a pain when it rains you have sprinkle it all over again... Trust Cajuns.... put red pepper on everything LOL
Judy... Love the baby squirrel... I vote for "Rocky" for the name... LOL....
I'll pop back in a bit...
Hugs,
Mary
Betty - got flyers printed, then 1st editing, then 2nd editing - made all changes and now 2nd wants to see it again - will give it to her tonight - it's redone.
Our hot tub is "toast" - and my DH asked the hot tub company to call me and convince me that we should have a new one...................
I asked him to come up with $10k by the end of this month, please (both as likely, doncha think?).
The company has offered us one for $5,500, and that's about $15k off the asking because they've had it for so long in their store. STILL - where are we going to pull $5,500 out from?????
I haven't even worked through my probation yet, and he wants to spend more $$ before we're assured my job is stable!!
siiiiiiiiiigh husbands.........
Ouch Susan ! Would you even bring the Hot tub with you when you move? If not .... I would think... wait and move and THEN buy the new Hot Tub ! So I suppose I'm agreeing with You and not your DH... Well that's what galfriends are supposed to do ! :o)
Thunder - hope you can get a new computer... I sure can empathize with computer issues... one of the main things that will totally stress me out... (not under my control) LOL....
We were hoping to increase the price of the home for sale by leaving the hot tub. Now that's not an option........
I'm going to have to call our sales agent to tell him to take "hot tub included" off the ad......... siiiiiiigh darn, darn, darn!!!
