Try to give them some fresh air beofre you plant them, so they can Harden off a bit outside, then keep the soil all around the roots when you do transplant them. Are they in cups? I just cut the bottoms off my cups and plant the whole thing cup and all into the soil.
Pictures, Linda? ( I am home sick today)
She's about to...58, Spring is almost here!
Linda, If I were you, I would wait until their second set of tru leaves form. Then, go for it!
ok, I will wait. Thanks
I see some varigation on a few of those "cots", the leaves will be beautiful!
Several have variegation on them. Can't wait to see the grow more!
We don't have any deposit here either. I remember as a kid living in Kansas. We lived across the street from the football stadium. Football season was my 'gravy' to my allowance. We had a big yard with just one tree in the middle of it, and a semi-circle driveway. I would park cars in our yard for $1 a car (that was pretty good for a kid in the late 60's). I could probably park 20 cars. Then after the game, I would go over and pick up all the pop bottles and take them to the corner grocery store for a nickle a piece. I was in HOG HEAVEN. ^_^
in california when I was a kid, we would haul a radio flyer wagon around picking up pop bottles and take them to the penny candy store. I miss those days.
Today my sister gets her port ofr her chemo, i thought her irst chemo was today, but it is thursday. meanwhile, i had posted that her car was in an accident a year ago, with no insurance on the drivers side. I told her to persist with her own insurance ( I used to sell insurance) and last night she called to ask me to do cartwheels for her, since she can't do a cartwheel, and I used to .. anyway, her PET scan came back negative for any other cancer locations. She has hooked up with all the free help, gotten a juicer from her friends at work for a gift, and now we have both started the asparagus cure to PREVENT cancer and chemo side effects. I figured since I love that green vegetable ( she hates it), we would do it together.
I just had my three tablespoons of pureed asparagus this am along with a banana, as I am sure she has done the same.
The other good news is, back to the accident results, she has been offered almost 30 k for damages and hardships, I told her to tell the lawyer to counter with his earnings included so she is to recieve the 30K. That will most likely happen. Praise God. It is good that SomeOne finally took an advice from me. ( in this family) Oh, and my daughter Rose, who is about to turn *choke* 30, had an insurance denied for an emergency room and other medical visits, because she didn't get pre aproved. I advised her to not talk to the medical providers and go to the appeal directly. She did. She just found out they are writing off the medical bills ( 6500.00) and that there would be no repurcussions. She told her Dad she is glad I urged her to do the paperwork, which she hated. Praise God again. She has a great job, but only makes 12. 50 an hour, which wouldn't have left her with any emergency money after her medical payments. Still home sick, went to the dr, they gave me a shot in the butt, told me to take three meds, which I have never heard of before, and took blood to test it for the continued high blood pressure I have had for over a year. I think it is because I am not lifting and moving heavy stuff around, ( my excersize) and wish I could do something besides ask for help. I am hoping the Asparagus diet will help me in all health issues. Sister urges me to go for a 15 minute with DH and or Duke. every day. Sounds do-able to me, when it warms up a bit.
Debra, so glad to hear there is no other cancer in her body! Praise God! Tell me more about the asparagus please? Lots of anti bodies I presume!
Glad to hear the good news on the insurance also!
And as far as the emergency room goes, it is not up to her to get pre approval, the ER people should have done it! It is thier job!
When Todd went to the hospital with his bleeding ulcer, we got all kinds of bills, and I always call right away to make payment arrangements, and I also make sure they have run the bills through the insurance first. Well, one Dr. told me it is not up to them to submit to insurance, it was my job! I told him, if he does not submit it to the insurance, I would turn thier butts into the proper authorities!
I never heard anymore from them!
So it pays to be a B*&^%$ person.
Make sure your Sister knows we are sending lots of prayers and good vibes her way! Will she need surgery at some point, or will the chemo take care of it?
Hi Linda, she will go thru 8 chemo treatments and then the mascetomy. I will email you the asparagus article that was sent to us by a friend of a doctor.
Oh Debra, I am happy she doesn't have it anywhere else. Sorry for 8 chemo treatments, but if that is what it takes, go girl. One of my good MG friends 2 years ago just went thru all of that, and she is doing great now.
I participate in the "Relay For Life" all night cancer walk and they did the most wonderful thing: They ask people who were survivors or those who were going thru treatment to raise their hands. Then the speaker ask the:
people who were currently having treatment to get in line on the track (this is held at a high school track)
people diagnosed less than a year ago to get in line behind them
people diagnoised 1 to 2 years ago to get in line behind them
people diagnoised 3 to 4 years ago to get in line behind them
people diagnoised 5 to 6 years ago to get in line behind them
people diagnoised 7 to 8 years ago to get in line behind them
people diangoised 9 to 10 years ago to get in line behind them
people diangoised 11 to 12 years ago to get in line behind them
The speaker just kept uping the years by 2 years until they were all in this big blob of a line and it was really long.
Then the person on the loud speaker ask them to all turn around.......
At first I didn't get it, then the speaker said I know you who have just been diagnosed or who are currently in treatment sometimes feel overwhelmed but I want you to see all the people in front of you that have made it. So it is possible. I have to admit it was just amazing and at any point in that line you just had to feel the hope, us on the side lines were just in awhhh.
{{{Hugs, Debra}}} I'm in tears of joy for you and your SIS that her cancer has spread no further. Wow, what a mental picture of hope, happ. I'm so glad you shared that with us.
Your seedlings are looking good, LK. Send some of your warm weather Northeast.....soon.
That's great news Debra about your sister. She will be fine I bet. Keeping the good nutrition is really a big plus. When my Dad first started his chemo they couldn't believe he was tolerating it so well. They wanted to know what he was eating. My Mom told them I had put them on the Clean Eating plan and the Dr's told him that was why he was feeling so good. Unfortunately they changed his chemo to another drug and that's the one that just about killed him. He has one of those ports too. If you know anything at all about the Cancer Centers of America they are really big on the nutrition aspect of cancer therapy. It is such a simple concept that it surprises me that mainstream medicine hasn't caught on to it. But then again if they did they'd cure people faster and wouldn't be making all the big bucks.
well, she jst called me all upset, she thought she was getting her port today, and her chemo thursday, but they did the consulting today, the port on thursday after she pre paid the 265.00 up front deductible, and the chemo on friday, now. she is very grateful for the support of her friends,as her dr bill money she paid was from several who chipped in at her work place, and they are taking turns taking her back and forth. I wish I were there. I am going to go see her when I am all well with no health bugs, and prolly when she will need me the most, after her third treatment.. she can't remember ever going under for any surgery, and is afraid she won't wake up. I promised her she would...after all, we have a vacation planned...
Sorry to hear she did not get her port today, but it is all for a reason!
Merpeg, just had her surgery today, and if you need someone to talk to critterologist had it done also last year!
This is the link for Merpegs prayers request. She is in really good spirits after her surgery today, and she is going home tomorrow!

Just have to ask:
Debra wrote: Sister urges me to go for a 15 minute with DH and or Duke. every day. Sounds do-able to me, when it warms up a bit.
I want to know what she urges you to do for 15 minutes with DH and or Duke. Or do I really want to know????? LOL OK, slapping my hands now.
Everything will work out the way it should for sis. She is in God's hands and has a lot of people praying for her and sending good and positive vibes.
Crit.... WALK for 15 minutes.. LOL yer a silly billy! ( But the other hmmm with DH sounds good)
Did you eat your asparagus today? Uhm.. I ate a whole can yesterday.. I just couldn't help it. Sis, on the other hand, could barely choke down a tablespoon.. that girl did not learn how to eat her greens very well. Must have been all the lambsquarters, poke and dandelions our mom used to make us eat as kids. UGH. ( well, now they sound darn good)
How you feeling today Debra? Better I hope?
My hubby hates asparagus, but I love it and can eat a whole can by myself too. When I buy fresh stalks, they're yummy sauteed in a pan with a little bit of olive oil, S&P, a clove of chopped garlic, and a sprinkle of pine nuts thrown in at the last minute. I'm just getting into my walking routine again and am trying to break in a new pair of Sketchers Shape-Up's. If any of you haven't tried them, they're really cushy and oh so comfortable.....still trying to get used to the rocking motion of the curved soles.
I love asparagus too, but not the after affect with the stinky pee... Don't know why it does that?
Don't get blisters with those new shoes!
Night everyone!
LOL LK!!!! I LOVE asparagus, and don't mind the smelly pee-ROFL, can eat a whole can by myself ... same with spinach. DH doesn't like either. I planted some A last year and can't wait for it to come up this year! I hope it made it through our harsh winter OK, I'm so anxious to see how it did.
I like A & S with just butter and S&P. What is the 'asparagus diet'?
Mornin' god grief, feeling beter, but couldn't sleep at all, I think the meds make me hyper..
Aparagus has been known to prevent Cancer Cells from forming and even shrink them, if taken pureed twice a day every day ( 3 tbls spoons)
The smell is the toxins it washes out of your Liver and kidneys. If you eat it enough, the smell goes away as your body de toxifys.
There is also evidence it cures copd and liver problems, of which I have both.
Off to get ready for work, it is gonna be a long day.
Good Morning ALL That GOOD STUFF For You IS BAD For ME Sure DON'T Make allot of since Only they all those Greens Have a VITE -K In Them to clot the Blood & Being on Coumadine to thin my blood defeats me & I Trully Miss all those GREENS ,

Morning everyone!
Please say a prayer for all those in Japan for the major earthquake that just hit, followed my a huge Tsumani. Now it is headed for Hawaii, and the west coast. It is supposed to hit by 8 or so west coast time!
Yes I Have Been up since 2 am Watching it & Sure is not a pretty site I feel so sorry for all trying to get out of the path .
SO many have had so many bad storms be well everyone & Spring is on the way .
susie
I am praying that Hawaii and the west coast has a good warning system, and they are getting those out of the way of this storm!
They both have good warning systems, the problem is if the people pay attention to them.
Does the asparagus have to be puree'd, or can you just eat it?
Crit, the article says to puree it. Do you want me to forward it to you? Do I have your email address??
I have been crying all day for the poor people in Japan. God Bless them all.
Morning Debra. Love that watercolor! Did you do it?
They will be there soon!
Morning Linda, that is a "self poratrait" of my daughter, rose that she did and I saved it. I noticced the reference to Gardening in it.. you can see her arm and the flower pot an it just was weird that she says OH NO!! to Gardening. She doesn't like to Garden, poor thing, as her picture shows her fear. LOL
In the 50's sun shining but wind blowing but I took advantage of it and started raking the top layer off the south garden out of the wind. Tulips, daffs, crocus, daylilies, all kinds of things popping up.
Had sort of hard day yesterday, went by my Moms old apartment to see what plants I could dig out of the flower bed we planted and someone had either "cleaned" it up or chopped all the tops of the the vines, hydrangea and the roses. It was dark when I got there so I couldn't see very well. She always told me to be sure and get her plants if something happened to her, but we have had blizzards, and ground frozen solid, I tried in January. Feb was more snow and below 0 temps. Think I wil go by tomorrow and see if I can find anything. Least I have the memories.
Oh, that is so sad! Who has access to her place! Hope they come back so you can recover them.
Darn Happ that would make me really sad too. I know one spring when I was working at the golf course, the owner got a wild hair to put in a new cart stand over the previous winter. Well he decided to put it where I had a lovely mortared stone planter full of beautiful yarrow in all different colors. They just ripped out the whole thing and bull dozed over it. Never even called to let me know what they were up to. (I didn't work in the winter). That was the Spring of my discontent and I left a few days after that. I had worked so hard to get that all going and then to have a bunch of stupid men just rip it all out really pi**ed me off.
just get back there tommorrow Joyce, I bet ya can still get some of her stuff for sure.*hugs*
*hugs too* Go back and dig up anything that's left the first chance you get, Joyce. How I wish now I'd dug a few of my Mother's hydrangeas she planted in the 1940's.
Afternoon everyone! Just wanted to let you know that I will be MIA for the week, getting ready to fly to Michigan, to take my Dad to my Sisters place! I will be back Sunday night sometime! I will post when I can.
LK What part of mich are you coming to ??? i would love to take you for lunch :))) I'm about center Mich:)
